Political tensions exploded in the Philippines after the Senate officially convened as an impeachment court for Vice President Sara Duterte. Senate President Alan Cayetano announced that the trial process has now formally begun, with Duterte ordered to answer serious allegations filed by the House of Representatives within just 10 days. The dramatic move comes amid an alleged Senate coup attempt against Cayetano and growing political chaos in Manila. Duterte’s camp now faces mounting pressure as the impeachment battle threatens to reshape Philippine politics ahead of crucial national developments.
