00:00Nancy Pexton, on the 29th of April, 2026, the jury found you guilty of the murder of your sister, Jennifer
00:11Abbott.
00:13She was 69 years old when she died.
00:19She lived alone, and due to her multiple health issues, she was frail and vulnerable.
00:27Jennifer Abbott was a much-loved mother, grandmother, aunt and neighbour.
00:38Not only did you kill her in a brutal and vicious attack, but you have brought profound grief and misery
00:51to her family and friends.
00:56Her son, in his moving impact statement, described his mother as being kind and as being his hero and role
01:08model.
01:08When confronted by police, Pexton, of no fixed address, had claimed her sister, Jennifer Abbott, gave her the watch to
01:17look after.
01:18She attempted to explain away the blood on her dungarees by claiming her sibling had a nosebleed as she hugged
01:25her.
01:26However, jurors saw messages on Pexton's phone stating that she was planning to kill her sister.
01:32Pexton was found guilty of murder and jailed for life earlier this month, with a minimum term of 22 years.
01:41On the day of the killing, 10th June 2025, you, Nancy Pexton, went to your sister's home and attacked her
01:52multiple times with a knife.
01:57You inflicted 10 knife wounds, 7 stab wounds and 3 slash wounds.
02:07The expert pathologist, Dr. Feagan Earle, carried out the post-mortem.
02:14He found that there were two fatal knife wounds, each of which would have been sufficient of itself to cause
02:28death.
02:31One was a deep slit to your sister's throat that caused severe internal damage.
02:40The other was a deep stab wound to her neck.
02:47The text messages shown to the jury demonstrated the volatile and difficult relationship you had with Jennifer Abbott.
