00:00There is a book called Best of Everything that Rona Jaffe wrote, I believe in 1950.
00:09And it's about a group of young women in New York City who come to New York City primarily
00:14to work in secretarial pools.
00:17So they're working in very conventional corporate American positions for that generation and
00:22for that decade.
00:23And there are wonderful, wonderful, wonderful descriptions of typical silhouettes.
00:28But there are many women that are telling this story and they're all different from different
00:37backgrounds.
00:37They have different ideas about what is appropriate, what is not appropriate.
00:41So to hear Rona Jaffe describe what was in fact happening in offices, you can feel and
00:47see the fabric and the colors, and you can feel the scorn when someone's falling short
00:52of what they think is office appropriate.
00:54It's beautifully done.
