00:00This music doesn't get out of my head.
00:03Very few people know this, but the first person to record a rock and roll album in Portugal was a
00:09woman.
00:09In 1960, Zurita de Oliveira recorded O Bonitao de Rock.
00:15Now, with this documentary, Who's Afraid of Zurita de Oliveira?,
00:20Francesca Marvão traces her journey.
00:22A difficult task because there are very few images of her.
00:25The filmmaker drew on various testimonies and reenactments with actors.
00:55For the film, the director had several all-female artists and bands reinterpret various songs
01:01by Zurita de Oliveira, some of which had never been released before.
01:06The film didn't have much resources.
01:08We were just trying to challenge it.
01:11We were hoping people would say yes.
01:16And then, how do I say this?
01:20It's a punk rock process.
01:22We were able to give life to letters that were forgotten, that never were interpreted
01:28by Zurita, that never were recorded.
01:30And to hear what each artist did, to give voice, I think I could even feel more and identify
01:37more with the cause of Zurita and what she wanted to say.
01:41And now, ladies and gentlemen, the best artist of the radio, TV and the show, Zurita de Oliveira,
01:49the best artist of the show, the best artist of the show, the best artist of the show.
01:53The documentary had its world premiere at this year's Indie Lisboa Film Festival, which
01:58concluded on the 10th of May.
