00:08The Camino Real International Bridge in Texas.
00:14A prime route used by criminals to smuggle illicit goods.
00:27It's early evening.
00:30On a busy Easter Sunday, and Officer Handrahan has just flagged a suspicious pickup.
00:36It's carrying an extra fuel tank, commonly used to refuel industrial machinery.
00:44This would typically be an oil worker, possibly a construction worker.
00:47It's usually an oil field that drives these fuel tanks.
00:50But the driver of this vehicle doesn't fit the norm.
00:54She looks strung out, didn't look like anybody that would be driving a vehicle like this.
01:00Concerned the woman could be working for a cartel, Officer Handrahan x-rays the truck.
01:08This is alarming.
01:10This large black square here.
01:11I should be able to look and see all the way through the fuel tank.
01:15I think it's probably a false bottom.
01:17There would be diesel fuel on top, and then there's going to be some kind of lead line false bottom.
01:23A closer inspection reveals another red flag.
01:27I noticed the crystallized substance on top of the tank.
01:33A white substance seems to be leaking from the container.
01:38The officers test it.
01:46And there you go.
01:49Positive result for meth.
01:5729, second ring.
01:59We found something.
02:00Mike, Mike.
02:01It's positive.
02:03Are we going to be put in jail?
02:04We have to do what we have to do.
02:05We have to do what we have to do.
02:23Upát
02:29We have a feed!
02:29Attention to the prime re-off.
02:30Every year, $400 billion of dirty money is laundered into Latin America.
02:37Much of it, the profits from drugs sold in the U.S.
02:50In the outbound lanes at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge,
02:54catching this cash in transit is a top priority.
02:58You got your bad guys that are bringing the illicit money back from whatever they took up north.
03:04They're taking it back down south.
03:05Could be $100,000, could be $50,000, could be, you know, $200,000.
03:09They'll try and hide it.
03:10It's a cannon mouse game, and that's how we play here.
03:16Today, a man traveling into Mexico has been stopped by Officer Sarmiento.
03:25As he searches the car, the driver seems nervous.
03:35And officers soon find out why.
03:40Stuffed down the side of the seat are several envelopes.
03:53Let's check this out, man.
03:56How many carats is that one?
03:58Three carats.
04:00The first packet contains a diamond.
04:04One this size could be worth upward of $50,000.
04:10Within the remaining envelopes are more precious stones.
04:14Cool, small cut diamonds.
04:18And other valuable jewelry.
04:21Here we have two bracelets.
04:23Oh, 14K white gold.
04:25Bracelets.
04:27Meanwhile, outside, officers discover more envelopes.
04:32Hidden in the footwell.
04:35Inside one, an emerald diamond cluster ring.
04:40Since any goods worth over $10,000 must be declared.
04:44Officers need to know more about the man's motives.
04:49The gentleman was crossing through here with diamonds undeclared.
04:53So we need to take a stance on it and find out, okay, what do we got?
04:56Where's it coming from?
04:57Where's it going?
04:58So we can find out whether he's doing something legal or not.
05:02The man claims he's just a courier, hired to deliver the goods to an address in Mexico.
05:17The officers think he could be a mule for a cartel, using the diamonds as the perfect money laundering currency.
05:26Diamonds would be a good way to laundering money because diamonds are worth a lot and they're smaller to transport.
05:34And they'll sell them over there and get their money in Mexico.
05:38Until the officers get answers, this man is going nowhere.
06:07A hundred thirty miles away, at the Camino Real Bridge, officers are Zamora is going nowhere.
06:13found a white, crystalline substance
06:14on the back of a pickup truck.
06:17So positive result for meth.
06:20While her vehicle is taken to a secure area for inspection,
06:25the driver's condition has taken a turn for the worse.
06:32The woman claims to have forgotten her insulin.
06:36In danger of collapsing from high blood sugar,
06:39she's rushed to the hospital.
06:43They're going to take her to the emergency room
06:45to get her blood sugar glucose back down where it needs to be.
06:51It's a strange thing, you know.
06:52You remember to fill your tank full of liquid meth,
06:55but you forget to throw your insulin pills in your purse.
07:00Undeterred, the officers begin their inspection of the fuel
07:03tank.
07:04We're going to open this.
07:05Whatever it takes, we're going to open it.
07:07Hoping to discover exactly how the meth is hidden
07:11and how much of it there is, a broken fuel pump immediately
07:17grabs their attention.
07:19It's weird how that pump doesn't work.
07:25That's just there.
07:26It's fake.
07:27That's got to have a pipe that goes all over the bottom
07:29so they can suck it out.
07:30So you can see the welds here where it's been either replaced,
07:35repaired, or something.
07:37Listen, this is factory.
07:39That's not factory.
07:41Even if it did turn on, it won't suck no fuel
07:43because it doesn't have a pipe that goes inside.
07:47The tank is full to the brim with diesel,
07:50but with no working pump to get it out.
07:54Officers had assumed the meth would be hidden under some kind
07:57of false bottom.
07:58They now suspect otherwise.
08:07So right there, methamphetamines.
08:13It seems the drug smugglers have simply dumped the meth
08:16drive directly into the fuel, meaning the drug will be
08:20permanently contaminated.
08:23It is dangerous to use any type of drugs, but especially
08:27this concealment method where they mix it with fuel,
08:30that's where they put it into the body.
08:33Possibly not knowing about it, but it is a sad reality.
08:36If it makes a truck run, what will it do to a body?
08:59At the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge.
09:08Officers are questioning a man caught trying to smuggle
09:10diamonds into Mexico.
09:13They believe he could be a mule for a drug cartel,
09:16using the jewels for money laundering.
09:19The subject gave a negative declaration for money
09:23and anything else over $10,000.
09:26So far, what we have, it is over $10,000,
09:28so it should have been something that should have been declared.
09:31These are monetary items that when somebody comes and goes,
09:35they're using them, and it's as good as cash.
09:38The man claims he's just a courier for hire,
09:41and has provided the address of a warehouse where he says he
09:44was asked to deliver the diamonds.
09:47But it can't explain why he didn't declare them,
09:50or why they were hidden.
09:59The gentleman was saying that he was paid by somebody in Mexico
10:03to come to the U.S., pick it up.
10:05Him himself carrying them over there is not a big thing with us.
10:08The problem is, where he tried to deceive us,
10:11he knew what he was doing.
10:12He knew that he had to hide them.
10:17To determine what penalty the man should face,
10:20officers inspect the jewels more closely
10:23and assess their approximate worth.
10:43The total value of the 15 diamonds
10:46and other jewelry comes to more than $70,000.
10:50We'll get you out of here shortly, OK?
10:52We're still working on it.
10:54It's going to be a very costly day for the man.
10:59The diamonds are going to be seized for failure to declare them.
11:04The estimator worth was $74,000.
11:09It's about the threshold over $10,000.
11:12He failed to declare his visa will be cancelled,
11:16and subject will be returned to Mexico.
11:18Diamonds are forever, yes, sir.
11:21Make sure you declare them if you've taken diamonds to Mexico.
11:46Night falls at the Camino Real International Bridge.
11:51Officer Hernandez leads the investigation
11:54into a vehicle carrying meth hidden inside a tank full of diesel.
12:00So right there, methamphetamines.
12:03The cartel's plan would have been to siphon off the contents
12:07when it reached its destination,
12:09before separating the drug from the fuel.
12:14This right here is meth.
12:17Once all this fuel dries out,
12:19it's going to be crystallized like that.
12:20So give it a few minutes until this dries out.
12:22But it's a clear indication that it's going to have to be chemically extracted
12:26if it would have made it to their hands.
12:29Now, officers must find their own way of extracting the liquid from the vehicle.
12:34A specialized mechanic arrives to assist.
12:44Almost half of all drug seizures in the U.S. involve meth.
12:48It is a highly profitable market worth $17 billion in the U.S. alone.
12:54We're going to need a lot more buckets, sir.
12:58Cartels will use any method to get meth across the border
13:02with little regard for the safety of the people using it.
13:06Removing this contaminated fuel is a long
13:09and potentially dangerous process requiring protective equipment.
13:14It's all getting in, like, a paste form
13:18and it's slowly sinking to the bottom.
13:21Little by little, it's going to the very bottom.
13:22So whenever an average person looks at this tank,
13:26they're going to see diesel on top.
13:28But the actual meth, it settles on the bottom.
13:33It's separating itself right there.
13:36After two hours of siphoning out the liquid,
13:39the tank is finally running dry.
13:41So 728, 829, 30 buckets of liquid meth.
13:46That is a lot of meth for 150 gallons of liquid meth
13:49in a diesel tank.
13:51Definitely a win for us.
13:54The buckets are weighed.
13:56So our total with plastic, 1240 pounds, 150 gallons.
14:03The total seizure amount is 150 gallons,
14:07meaning this meth could have a street value
14:10of around half a million dollars.
14:13I got here at 7 o'clock in the morning.
14:15So it was an awesome 16-hour day.
14:19For being Easter Sunday, I didn't find no Easter eggs.
14:22That's better than finding Easter eggs.
14:24Definitely a better feeling.
14:39One more time, radio check.
14:41Over.
14:42Something else to do.
14:45One more time, radio check.
14:47Operating 15 hours a day,
14:49the Eagle Pass International Bridge is used by thousands of travelers daily.
14:55Bravo, give us one mic.
14:59Officers here rely on years of experience
15:01to sniff out any wrongdoing.
15:09Today, the contents of one traveler's car
15:13are causing a stink.
15:16You got a knife?
15:16You want to chop the one in half?
15:18Just to see what's inside.
15:21The cooler is loaded with Mexican cheese.
15:26They're coming from Guadalajara.
15:28That's a long way to stay frozen.
15:31Agricultural specialist Villarreal is assigned to investigate.
15:36The amount of cheese that he's got here is not normal
15:38for what would be two people coming back from Mexico.
15:41We're looking at right here, maybe about 20 kilos.
15:46While most of these goods can be crossed in small amounts,
15:50this quantity is likely for a business,
15:52which requires a permit and is liable for import duty.
15:58Officers suspect these men are making the 2,000-mile trip
16:02to try to sneak the goods through
16:03without paying the correct taxes.
16:07That screams like it's a business.
16:09So I wanted to see the crossings,
16:11see if they've ever been hit with anything,
16:13either of those two guys.
16:15No.
16:16But as officers carry out background checks on the men,
16:22they think they may have stumbled onto something
16:25far more serious than a commercial import of cheese.
16:29In that here, found some dogs in the car.
16:31Does the baby look like it's almost a year?
16:35Yeah, it does, but what I'm seeing is the hair color's different.
16:39The men are making their road trip with a young baby,
16:43whose appearance doesn't seem to match their entry documents.
16:48Oh, they might be using another baby.
16:51Concerned they may have come across a child trafficking attempt,
16:55officers must act fast.
17:10Yeah, it's your bravo, I-94.
17:20Purpose of your trip to Canada?
17:22Post trip.
17:23All right, where the rest of the girls?
17:25It's a busy day at the U.S.-Canada border,
17:29and Officer Novak is dealing with a traveler stopped
17:32after being spotted driving in the wrong lane.
17:36This car got sent in for further inspection.
17:38He's going to secondary.
17:39So we got a couple officers who just searched the car,
17:41make sure nothing is coming in.
17:43He used the Trusted Traveler Lane
17:45without having the Nexus card, so that's a no-no.
17:48The Trusted Traveler Lane requires specific pre-approved paperwork,
17:53which this man doesn't have.
17:56And the search of his car uncovers something else concerning.
18:01Ford driver's licenses.
18:03It's the same photo, same name.
18:06They're all valid until the same date,
18:08but they're all issued on different days.
18:10So it's just, it's a little weird.
18:12So I definitely want to find out what's going on with this.
18:15I'm going to go in there and talk to him,
18:16just kind of figure out his story, why he has these,
18:18because this isn't even him.
18:19It's just a little fishy.
18:24All right, man, we're looking through your car.
18:26What's going on with these IDs?
18:27Four of the same ones, same name, same person.
18:30They're in the wallet in the center there.
18:33This is my friend's brother.
18:34Your friend's brother.
18:36So why do you have his IDs?
18:39You don't know.
18:42It's his car?
18:43This is the brother of the friend that you're picking up from the airport?
18:46Yeah.
18:49You know why he has four of the same exact IDs?
18:52No idea.
18:53So you just know the guy you're picking up.
18:55You don't know this guy?
18:55No.
18:57Fake driver's licenses make up almost 10% of all forged IDs.
19:03And Officer Novak is unconvinced by the man's story.
19:07All right, man, just have a seat.
19:08I'll call you back up in a bit.
19:10And is concerned the man may be trading in false identifications.
19:15We just want to make sure these aren't, like, fake IDs,
19:17like handing them out or selling them to people that, you know,
19:20might want to be trying to hide something if they try to come to the U.S.,
19:23you know, hide their identity and get across.
19:25I just got to do some more digging around to find out.
19:46At the Eagle Pass International Bridge.
19:49In that here, found some dogs in the car.
19:52There's a baby, luckily.
19:53Like, it's almost a year.
19:55Yeah, it does.
19:56But what I'm seeing is the hair color is different.
20:00Agricultural specialist Villarreal has stopped two men traveling with a baby.
20:06In the process of investigating them for carrying excess food,
20:10he believes he may have stumbled upon a child trafficking attempt.
20:14We're going to have whoever's claiming to be the father take them inside,
20:19and we're going to do a little more investigation on the baby.
20:21Hair color seems to be a little different.
20:24Age isn't matching up all that perfectly.
20:27With 28% of the victims of people trafficking being children,
20:32it's vital officers ascertain whether the man is really the baby's father
20:38or if he's using his actual daughter's paperwork
20:40to smuggle a different child across the border.
20:52The man is led away to be questioned,
20:55but officers immediately notice some strange behavior.
20:59The way they're transporting the baby,
21:02walking with the carriage backwards and stuff like that,
21:04that just doesn't seem normal for a fatherly behavior.
21:08I know as a father myself, I want the baby in front of me
21:11because I want to see what's happening to the baby.
21:13So walking with them like it's luggage,
21:15he's not doing himself any favors.
21:25The case is passed to Officer Pawn,
21:28who will carry out an interview.
21:32They've been avoiding the baby.
21:33They're not really paying attention to the baby.
21:36There's a possibility that the baby might be,
21:39that David might be falsely claiming that that's the same baby
21:42and it's someone else's baby.
21:45Officer Pawn will check all of the man's paperwork
21:48and even examine his phone.
21:50The dad is presenting a birth certificate for the baby.
21:53He's stating that he's the father of the baby
21:57and we're questioning, okay, well, history,
22:01like when was the last time he traveled with the baby,
22:03where do they live,
22:05the purpose of their travel to Mexico.
22:07If any further discrepancies are uncovered,
22:10the man could be in big trouble.
22:23Oh, traffic, primary, primary, oh, traffic.
22:28At the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel.
22:32What's going on with these IDs?
22:33He's four of the same ones, same name, same person.
22:36This is my bank, my brother.
22:40A man traveling into the U.S.
22:42has raised suspicions after being found
22:44with multiple driver's licenses,
22:46all in someone else's name.
22:49He doesn't need these with him.
22:51He's just left them in the car.
22:53He's in India right now.
22:55The man claims he is picking up a friend from the airport,
22:58and the car and ID cards belong to the friend's brother.
23:04One fake driver's license like this
23:07could sell for a minimum of $100.
23:10So officers need to be certain he's not selling fake IDs.
23:14Why does he have so many?
23:16Yeah, why does he know why he has four?
23:31Despite the man's explanation,
23:33Officer Novak still needs to verify the details.
23:36All right, man, just have a seat for now.
23:38I'll call you back up in a second, all right?
23:41He runs the IDs through the system
23:43to ensure they are authentic
23:45and carries out background checks on both men.
23:49See if this guy has any issues.
23:51And then if it turns into anything,
23:52we could also do, like, a phone search.
23:54And the driver appears to be telling the truth.
23:58The check comes back clean,
24:00and the different cards are indeed
24:02for different Canadian vehicle licenses.
24:05The G1 is kind of like a learner's permit.
24:07You can drive on any type of G vehicle.
24:09That's Canadian's classification.
24:11And then this one, the Z, is for trucks.
24:15It makes sense why he's got multiple now,
24:17the different classifications.
24:19I'm good with it.
24:20All right, man, come on up.
24:21I'll give the orange paper to the officers outside.
24:24Have a go.
24:25Satisfied the man is doing nothing wrong,
24:27he is free to go.
24:29I was comfortable knowing that he wasn't using it
24:31for malicious intent.
24:33He wasn't going to be handing them out to his buddies
24:34for fake IDs or using them for somebody else
24:36to get into the U.S.
24:37That's what I love about this job,
24:38is the deep dive.
24:40When you get stuff like that,
24:41where you get to dive deeper and, you know,
24:43do some research, it's fun.
24:44It makes the day interesting.
24:46My last hour, too.
24:47I get to go home now.
24:48I get to go home now.
25:002020, Chevy Trailblazer.
25:04In Eagle Pass,
25:08officers are investigating a man
25:11who they suspect of using his actual daughter's papers
25:14to smuggle a different child across the border.
25:18There's a possibility that the baby might be,
25:20that the baby might be falsely claiming
25:22that that's the same baby and it's someone else's baby.
25:26Officer Ponn has now carried out a detailed interview
25:29and checked the man's documents.
25:32He was willing to show us more documentation on it
25:36and we went forward with that.
25:37So he was released with the baby.
25:41With officers satisfied that the baby girl is, in fact, his,
25:45the man faces no further questions.
25:50It's very dangerous out there.
25:52We see it a lot.
25:53That's why it's very important for us to make sure that this baby
25:58that's traveling with this adult,
26:01there's some type of relation between them for the child's safety.
26:05With child smuggling ruled out,
26:08officers still have to deal with the excessive quantities of food
26:11the men have tried to bring over from Mexico.
26:42This time, the men escape with just a warning.
26:45But at the border,
26:47officers must remain on high alert for every possibility.
26:53Human trafficking, especially with, you know,
26:55young children like that,
26:57these kinds of things are happening in the United States.
26:59Most people don't believe that that it's happening,
27:02but we need to stop every possibility,
27:05never count out the fact that someone else
27:07could be doing something so terrible.
27:33What do y'all go to Mexico for?
27:35For the dentist.
27:36For the dentist?
27:37Yeah.
27:37All right.
27:39Every year,
27:401.2 million Americans travel to Mexico
27:43to undergo heavily discounted medical procedures.
27:48What are y'all bringing back?
27:50Nothing.
27:50Okay.
27:51No kind of medications, alcohol, tobacco?
27:54No.
27:54Travelers who have treatment
27:56often require prescription medication,
27:59but like all medicines,
28:01failing to declare it upon re-entry is a crime.
28:04Do you have any medication?
28:06No, Mama.
28:07People need to understand that
28:09whenever anybody fails to declare medication,
28:12you're already breaking the rules.
28:14Why?
28:15Because it's a port of entry.
28:16You're coming from a foreign country,
28:18entering back into the United States,
28:19therefore you need to declare.
28:21If you don't declare,
28:22at that moment they're smuggling in.
28:26No problem.
28:27It's midday
28:28at the Progreso International Bridge.
28:33A brother and sister
28:34returning to the U.S. from Mexico
28:36have been taken for questioning
28:38after loose medication
28:40was found in their car.
28:43When was the last time you crossed from Mexico?
28:46It was like about a month ago.
28:49Officer Maureen leads the search.
28:52We have this car that was from San Antonio,
28:54went to Mexico for a pleasure,
28:59and during the inspection,
29:01officer found some undeclared medication.
29:04They also started admitting
29:05that they had some on their person,
29:07and they started pulling it out.
29:08So in that moment, we take them in
29:10so they could be a pat-down conducted
29:12on both individuals.
29:14After finding packets of Xanax and Valium
29:17in the couple's car,
29:19officers discovered two bottles of Tramadol
29:21on their person.
29:23Do you have anything else on you?
29:24No, sir.
29:25Nothing with that.
29:26No, sir.
29:26I don't want to go out of the way or nothing.
29:27No, sir.
29:28You can check me.
29:29Yes, sir.
29:30Okay.
29:31While his sister is searched,
29:33the man nervously waits.
29:36During the pat-down,
29:38there were two more additional pills
29:40within her left pocket of her shorts.
29:44All of the pills are controlled substances,
29:47which require prescriptions
29:49and should have been declared.
29:53So why is it that you didn't declare this
29:55to an officer, ma'am?
29:56Well, you should ask me if you don't have prescriptions
29:59on having a prescription.
30:00I just have medicine.
30:02No, I'm telling you.
30:03So it's smuggling all this other stuff
30:06they go right in.
30:07Well, I mean, I'm not smuggling.
30:09I'm going to declare.
30:11Yeah, but I don't know.
30:12I mean, okay.
30:15Officer Maureen wants to find out
30:16why the woman has tried to smuggle
30:18this medication in.
30:21So you went to Mexico
30:22with the purpose of purchasing this?
30:24Well, I had cosmetic surgery
30:27about six weeks ago.
30:28I had a mommy makeover.
30:29And so they have to extract the fluid
30:32from my incision.
30:33So I have to come down here
30:35literally every week.
30:36Have y'all ever had trouble with the law?
30:39Just petty thefts, but Texas,
30:41they turn them into felonies
30:42if you have three or more.
30:49Smuggling a controlled substance
30:50is a crime punishable
30:52with up to five years in prison.
30:55Sensing the trouble they are in,
30:57the sister attempts to cut a deal.
31:00I just don't want him to get in trouble.
31:02So if he's going to get in trouble,
31:04then I'm going to take it
31:05so that I can get in trouble.
31:06Or how about if y'all both get in trouble
31:07because then we're both bringing medication?
31:09No, me only.
31:10You don't make the decision.
31:33The Juarez-Lincoln Bridge
31:35in Laredo.
31:37V.S., lane four.
31:38Copy.
31:40Buenas tardes.
31:41¿Desde dónde vienen?
31:42No, no, no.
31:43Se quita la la la la, por favor.
31:45On a typical day,
31:47officers here carry out ID checks
31:49on over 70,000 travelers
31:51who are attempting to enter the U.S.
31:56This allows officers
31:57to quickly ascertain
31:58if any travelers are wanted criminals.
32:02We have, like, within a matter of minutes
32:05to make decisions
32:06and ask faster questions
32:07to get the response that we need
32:08just to confirm what our system shows.
32:11It's a fast pace here
32:12and it's fun.
32:13It's always interesting.
32:15Buen dia.
32:16It's early evening
32:18and a young man has been detained.
32:22Checks on his car license plate
32:24have flagged that the driver
32:25is wanted by police.
32:38Records show there is a warrant out for theft.
32:42Officer Beltran takes the man's fingerprints,
32:45which should confirm
32:46if he's the person they're looking for.
32:56But there's an unexpected issue.
32:59Arnold's saying one wrong.
33:02They have a picture of him?
33:03Who they're looking for?
33:05Although the detainee looks identical
33:07to the police mugshot of the wanted man,
33:11his fingerprints aren't a match.
33:14You don't have any other type of identification?
33:16No.
33:17No?
33:18The officers are perplexed.
33:21Since the man is not carrying any ID,
33:24they are reluctant to release him
33:26until they solve the mystery.
33:29Because he doesn't really have
33:30any sorts of identification.
33:32So I was trying to figure out
33:33if it is him or not.
33:35So we took his fingerprints and everything
33:37and it came out that he is not wanted,
33:39which is weird.
33:40And we were trying to figure out why.
34:05And this bag is just what,
34:06that medication you said?
34:07All right.
34:08One hundred ninety miles away
34:10at the Progresso Bridge,
34:12Officer Maureen is dealing
34:14with two siblings who attempted
34:15to smuggle prescription medication
34:17over the border.
34:20So why is it that you didn't declare
34:22this to me, Officer Maureen?
34:31Officers have found multiple prescription drugs,
34:34including Xanax, Valium, and Tramadol.
34:38The woman is now attempting to get her brother
34:40off any potential charges
34:42by claiming they all belong to her.
34:45I just don't want him to get in trouble.
34:47You don't make the decision.
34:48I have a criminal record.
34:49It's me.
34:50It's me.
34:51All right.
34:53I needed the medication
34:54because I'm in pain.
34:55I'm in a lot of pain.
34:57And I actually have prescriptions
34:58for these medications.
34:59Do you have a U.S. prescription?
35:01No, I do have a U.S. prescription
35:03because I didn't have much surgery
35:04in the United States.
35:05I had it in Mexico.
35:06Okay.
35:06So you had all this on your person?
35:09It was in the car.
35:10And you have the other ones
35:11in your shorts?
35:13Okay.
35:14Okay.
35:16Travelers can carry 90 days' worth
35:18of prescription medication,
35:20providing they have valid documentation.
35:24Attempting to transport pills undeclared
35:27can lead to heavy fines or even jail.
35:31The woman is desperate
35:33to see her brother avoid such a fate.
35:37There's something that you said
35:39that caught me where you're like,
35:41I'll take the blame.
35:42Yeah.
35:43All right.
35:44That's true love right there.
35:45Well, that's my brother.
35:46Man, that's some sister love right there.
35:48Are you older than him?
35:49Yes.
35:50Yeah.
35:50Okay.
35:51Satisfied with the woman's story,
35:53Officer Maureen accepts her plea
35:56to take the rap.
35:57So the only one who's getting in trouble
35:59this moment is going to be you.
36:01Did the officer tell you
36:02what might happen?
36:03No.
36:04Okay.
36:04I mean, she just said that they're prosecuting.
36:08In total, the woman attempted to smuggle
36:11nearly 14 grams of Valium and Tramadol
36:13and over 15 grams of Xanax.
36:16While her brother is released,
36:18a decision on whether she will be prosecuted or fined
36:22rests with state police.
36:25It's not like I'm just doing, you know,
36:28illegal stuff out here.
36:29No, no, no, no, no.
36:30That's not how it is.
36:31Right.
36:31And in fact, I haven't been in any trouble
36:33in six, seven, eight years.
36:35That's good.
36:36So, yeah.
36:36Try to keep it like that, all right?
36:38Yeah, I won't ever do this again.
36:39This right here will not happen yet.
36:41Just declare whatever you do?
36:42Yeah, just declare it.
36:43It's easy.
36:44Just declare it.
36:44I mean, if they take it from you,
36:46they take it from you.
36:47And you come back next week.
36:48And you come next week,
36:49are you still going to do it?
36:51You're joking.
36:52I'll declare it.
36:53I'm going to declare it.
36:54You declare it.
36:55You see that little small?
36:56You say it out of a reason.
36:58I can see it straight through your eyes.
37:00I'm going to declare it.
37:01You see that?
37:01That's what I'm going to do.
37:04But for this woman,
37:05all future crossings are on hold.
37:08State police decide to prosecute,
37:10and state troopers soon arrive
37:12to take her to jail.
37:14We see this daily.
37:16We see this a lot.
37:18She was, you know, at first kind of like,
37:20oh, it's something minor.
37:21It's something small.
37:23It's something small compared to
37:24what I've done in the past.
37:25I'll just come next week.
37:27So what does that tell us?
37:28And you're taking it as a joke.
37:31These are serious charges
37:33because that's having possession
37:35of a controlled substance.
37:55in Laredo.
38:02Officer Beltran is investigating
38:04a man stopped at the border
38:06who they suspect is wanted for theft.
38:10Despite the detainee looking exactly
38:12like the police mugshot of the criminal,
38:15his fingerprints aren't a match.
38:17We took his fingerprints and everything,
38:19and it came out that he is not wanted,
38:22which is weird.
38:22and we were trying to figure out why.
38:27No.
38:36The officers dig a little deeper.
38:40This guy is probably a twin brother, bro.
38:43And finally unravel the mystery.
38:46He has a twin.
38:47He has a twin brother.
38:48So that's what we're looking for.
38:49So the guy that we've got right now,
38:51the twin brother,
38:52is that the one that we just have found.
39:03He doesn't.
39:06No.
39:10He doesn't.
39:10He's going to.
39:11He's going to.
39:11Okay.
39:11From the police file,
39:12there is only one difference
39:14between the set of twins.
39:17Do we have anything on his nose right now?
39:18Is that like a mole or something?
39:19Yeah.
39:20OK.
39:22The wanted brother has a small mole on his nose.
39:34With the smallest detail spotted on the police mugshot, there's no denying they have the
39:40wrong brother.
39:42Yeah, it's his twin.
39:43You're an investigator, my boy.
39:45The best of the best.
39:47We solved the mystery.
39:49He has a twin brother.
39:52Yeah.
39:53He has a twin brother.
39:54His brother is the one that is wanted, not him.
39:57It's not him.
39:58It's not him?
39:58It's his twin.
40:01We're going to put it all in the system just to make sure that for next time, in case
40:04he crosses again, they know that it's not him and it's his twin brother.
40:08We're just going to release him, let him go about his day, put everything in the system,
40:12and hopefully next time when his twin does cross, the one that we are looking for, we'll get
40:16the right one.
40:17That's pretty much it.
40:19Close it up.
40:21After an hour wait, and with the mystery solved, the innocent brother is free to leave.
40:31The twins are done, the mystery.
40:33So now, we'll see when the right one crosses.
40:35I guess he was the left one.
41:05I guess that he was going.
41:05Now, if we, it doesn't seem to wear it quite straightforward to come up with this one.
41:14There's one one that was all over there to the right side of the car, and you meet
41:14That's very similar they do last week.
41:14We're in the event, never afterwards.
