00:00Did you enjoy playing in front of the Chicago fan base or the Philadelphia fan base?
00:06You know, listen, I got the best of both worlds, right?
00:11So I got to play in front of Chicago Stadium fans in probably one of the greatest arenas of all
00:17time
00:18where the energy and the noise and the participation from the fan was,
00:24and the history of the Chicago Stadium was amazing.
00:27What a treat.
00:29And, you know, Blackhawk fans are, you know, they're very polished.
00:33They're very loyal.
00:34They might not be the Philadelphia in-your-face crazies that Philly is,
00:40but that's how I played is in-your-face crazy.
00:44So when I got into Philly, it was like a match made in heaven
00:48because I feel that I played the game exactly like a Philly fan roots for their team in the stands
00:56or in an everyday scenario.
00:58I wanted to punch people in the faces.
01:00And I know that, you know, that Philly fans want to punch people in the faces when it's not going
01:04their way.
01:05So we just hit it off.
01:08I was just very unfortunate that I had such a short stint in Philly.
01:12If I could go back to 2004 or 5, I would have called up Clarkie and said, yeah, by the
01:20way, I'm not lifting my no-trade clause.
01:22I'm going to stay right here in Philly and see if I can hammer this thing out the rest of
01:25my career,
01:26although I did have an amazing end to my career in San Jose, which I'm very, very fortunate of.
01:31But so I always say, you know, in the West Coast, I got in the West, I got Chicago.
01:36In the East, I got Philly.
01:38So I'm staying loyal to both.
01:40All right.
01:41Well, here, I love it there, too.
01:42Bobby Clark references.
01:44Oh, he's wanted here, too, by the way.
01:46Speaking of running the Flyers, Keith Jones, Daniel Breer, and what the jobs that they have done,
01:51you know, retooling that team, getting the minor league system back in order again here a little bit.
01:57You have to be impressed with Keith Jones and what he's done.
02:00Big time.
02:01And listen, you know, I worked with Jonesy for 10 years on television.
02:05I have watched this guy break down hockey.
02:07I have watched him break down players and to see what he thinks about the game and how he kind
02:14of how he depicts the game.
02:16There's not many smarter guys, hockey guys, than Keith Jones.
02:19And it's only a matter of time for them to get back to where they are right now.
02:24They have their scouting staff is doing a great job.
02:26They're getting a good young nucleus in there.
02:29Danny Breer is, again, another high-quality, amazing hockey mind that loves the game and is passionate about the game.
02:37You know, I've known Danny since his rookie year where he lived with me at my house with my family
02:41in Arizona for his first year.
02:43So I have a very, very strong attachment to Dan, and I know he's going to do a great job.
02:48And you can't take away the job of what Rick Tockett has done for this team.
02:52To come there, have a lot of pressure of coming back to a city that loves him and try to
02:57get that team back into the playoffs has been very, very difficult.
03:00But one that Tock just, I think, he handled so well.
03:05And I got to tell you, I was at the game where they clinched against Carolina, where they clinched the
03:09playoff spot.
03:10And I ran down to the locker room to see Tock and congratulate them.
03:13This is five minutes after the—ten minutes after the game is over.
03:16And all of them, the coaches, Jonesy, Breer, Tock, they're sitting in the coaches' room already chalking up the board
03:27to outline what's next against Pittsburgh.
03:31Ten minutes after.
03:33That's called professionalism, and that's why that team is going to be hard to deal with in the next couple
03:37of years.
