Lithgow community members have asked why the state government has not yet provided a support package to the area after businesses shed staff and reduced hours. Government representatives held information sessions and a community meeting this week as the Victoria Pass closure ticks over two months.

00:23About 100 residents aired their concerns to state government representatives on Thursday night
00:28in a community meeting that became heated at times.
00:31At the moment it is absolutely ridiculous.

00:35We acknowledge from transport that as soon as this has been to happen,

00:42We are here with you and we want to make sure that we listen and adapt.
00:46But there was a beacon of hope.
00:48A community leader suggested a financial support package had been drawn up
00:52and is now on the Premier's desk.
00:54I can say that there should be good news coming
00:57in relation to this.
00:58It's a direct call to the Premier that we're making
01:02that our businesses need assistance.
01:04In the meantime, the solution to getting traffic back on the Victoria Pass
01:08is moving forward, with plans from two engineering consortiums now shortlisted.
01:13Until that solution is known, there is no definite timeframe of the closure period.
01:17The Government will make a choice before the end of June.
