00:00you get to wear some cracking outfits thank you over the course so rufus yes well if it isn't
00:06television's greatest love story i tried to get the word out television there but i've just got
00:10invisalign and that's all right i can barely enunciate anymore television's greatest love
00:14you guys you know you guys love each other deep down underneath character wise that's a very good
00:19question that's a bit we've been talking about that is it just performative is it just marriage
00:22of convenience um i i think i think overall it's for convenience and they are in a very toxic
00:29situation where they're using each other to kind of get but then i also think that uh you do see
00:36a
00:36genuine care there along the way and i think in doing in in the middle of doing their in the
00:41middle
00:41of their toxicity they actually have found a genuine bond and connection um because weirdly everyone
00:46does even famous politicians who you may sort of think that relationship isn't real yeah the mad
00:52thing is there are elements in in every relationship that are real i think a lot of a lot when
00:57you read
00:58about famous people of like yesteryear and different generations and you learn about the kind of
01:02things that went on and like the affairs and sometimes people being very physical and all
01:06that kind of stuff and you think nowadays that's horrible toxic get away from each other but then
01:10these people end up having decades and decades of like somewhat loving marriages staying together
01:16i know and it's like a business arrangement but also you know um yeah there must be i think there
01:22has to be some kind of chemistry romantic chemistry to keep you i think everybody's different and for
01:29some people that that is okay even in this day and age i was gonna say i'm not sure it's
01:34entirely
01:34no i i think relationships are complicated and some people don't just marry for love they marry for
01:40other reasons and no judgment yeah some judgment some judgment a little we can judge them a little
01:45yes i i saw one of those i saw a video like on instagram or whatever uh in the last
01:50few years when
01:50he talks about like in marriages like one person can fall out of love at a time as long as
01:54you both
01:54don't do it at the same time oh that's cool and then that's how a lot of marriages at least
01:57in
01:58historically kind of lasted um we're back for series two guys what what a smash hit what a surprising
02:04smash hit whenever i see adverts for shows that are obviously very expensive huge cast very lavish
02:10lovely well shot uh on streaming services i think oh that's going to be a shame because they can't
02:14afford to do that right they can't afford to do that more than once unless everybody's watching it but
02:18people bloody love this yeah they do what's been the kind of the the most fun surprise of the success
02:24of the first series like i guess people just stop talking to you about in between us and now they
02:28just want to know about danny dyer's mustache or something yeah yeah you know it's interesting for a
02:33fella what's been really heartening about this show is that a lot of the women i knew were very
02:38excited about rivals coming out and slowly over the months the fellas would get on board yeah
02:43often wives would say no you'll like this come sit down and watch and i would get people coming up
02:48in pubs you know stranger a lot of men coming out going do you know what i didn't think that
02:52was for
02:52me i love it now more than my past that's been so surprising like so interesting um it's obviously
02:58yeah i think i think because i think it touches up it touches on um certainly touches up yeah
03:05um we've been around each other um but i think i think it touches on quite modern um uh subjects
03:11like
03:11toxic masculinity for example and i think i think um men are a bit more open to kind of exploring
03:18that
03:18and talking about that and i think yeah i think it really shows all of that so there is something
03:22for
03:23men it's such a great escape as well because it's so over the top like my my other half doesn't
03:28watch
03:28a lot kind of romance shows films and stuff yeah so so i don't watch as much myself because she's
03:33not
03:33the one like dragging me in to do it and i just put this on it'd been out for a
03:36couple of months and
03:37i put it on i'll give it a go and i was like oh my god and i've been through
03:40that entire thing i was
03:41i was fully sold there's a lot made about the kind of the the the raunchness of it and the
03:46the the
03:47sex and whatnot and i always think as an actor when you're leading up to one of those scenes it
03:51must be kind of
03:51like one of the more stressful things because you know closer it's going to be such a unique thing
03:56to be doing but because you're all at it so much in the show is it kind of a sort
04:01of uh what's the
04:03word yeah the word when you when you go to war so yeah when everybody's just kind of like you're
04:09all on the same wavelength there is kind of it gets banal yes weirdly someone's just bonking in studio
04:13two today yeah yes my first day my first day of filming was getting naked and getting into a shower
04:19and dancing for four hours and that was uh you know it's not not digging coal out the ground but
04:24it's uh it is kind of quite pressurized but then it gets boring quite quickly you know weirdly everyone
04:32and no one everyone's so good about nudity on on on screen and stage now and the i don't know
04:38it's
04:39weirdly not awkward yeah and and you know it's it's such a great cast and crew we all genuinely love
04:45and support each other and so when one of us does have something like that coming up we all
04:50sort of rally around and go how you feeling about it you know and um yeah and we are lucky
04:54that we
04:54are on a very safe set um because you know in in the world of television they have they haven't
05:00always
05:01been safe sets and um we have intimacy coordinators um which is you know it's a new profession that people
05:07are trying to navigate um but uh yes i i think that we are lucky um and yeah we all
05:14support each
05:14other i kind of think there must be more intimacy coordinators on this show than like any show yeah
05:19we have anything up to 60 percent of the world imagine the christmas parties there's half intimacy
05:23coordinators i remember my first ever day on on rival set there were five different uh modesty pouches
05:29yeah in my trailer i thought welcome to rivals yeah yeah yeah exactly sizes uh final quick one for
05:35me there was a lot of people with their hands up in the office who wanted to pitch in with
05:38questions
05:39and i don't usually ask about fashion because usually i don't care but you get to wear some
05:42cracking outfits thank you over the course so rufus yes that's your favorite a good one on the first
05:49day as well the first episode which which is kind of your your favorite over the last two series and
05:54how many of you kind of slipped home if any i mean shout out ray um ray ray hallman he
06:01is uh he's a
06:03genius and he those the costume guys work tirelessly making these beautiful costumes some of them are
06:08originals but um yeah some of the some of the pieces i've had are handmade and they are just amazing
06:14there's a there's a scene a ball scene the humble scene coming up in series two where i'm wearing this
06:20beautiful gown silver shiny and the gloves up to here and the hair and the makeup it yeah i'm very
06:29lucky with sarah stratton although obviously she's pregnant throughout so i i do also have a prosthetic
06:34bump that gets larger larger as we go um yeah so the clothes also expand um but yeah i'm very
06:40i'm so
06:40lucky the outfits are amazing well i look forward to that ball scene and all the other all the other
06:45ball scenes take place in season two uh great to see you guys love the show thank you so please
06:50make it forever it's ridiculous but it's great
