Watch this video and then watch it again. In this video, the sheer amount of mic drop advice moments from the women who I’d trust with my life, from Bozoma Saint John’s red lipstick theory to Bianca Lawson’s four important words to remember, the 2026 Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards just blew my mind (and my makeup case). What advice from another woman stayed with you?

00:00Remember who you are.
00:01My best friend's mother, who pretty much raised me, she always told me it's better
00:06to be alone than in bad company.
00:08You're a product of the people you choose to surround yourself with, so choose wisely.
00:12One of my dearest friends who speaks so much life into me when I'm having self-doubt, she's
00:16like, Bianca, remember who you are.
00:19My mother, when I was in college, she said to me, do the hard thing first.
00:24Fear is not an option.
00:26Now, this advice was not meant to be good, but I turned it into that, which was that
00:31I should not wear red lipstick or have red nail polish when I went into business meetings.
00:36They said that because they were like, you know, you don't want to signal that you're
00:38too bold or too brash or whatever.
00:41I promise you, the things you wear on the outside, the ways that you express yourself
00:44are actually what then come out your mouth.
00:46So I say go bold and do everything that you want to do.
