00:12Hey, Katie!
00:13What's up, Kat?
00:14Welcome!
00:16So glad to see you.
00:17Hi.
00:17Thank you for letting me spend the night.
00:19Oh, you're welcome.
00:20We had an auction early in the morning, you know?
00:21Bright and early.
00:22This way, you know, early bird will catch the world.
00:25Yeah.
00:26Want me to show you the room?
00:27Yes, please.
00:28You know, it's been a while since I've been tucked in.
00:29Oh, really?
00:31Yeah, girl!
00:32Twas the night before auction and all through the storage facility's house,
00:36not a unit was stirring except for that one with the mouse.
00:41From the top of the locker, from the hall to the wall,
00:44now bid away, bid away, bid away all.
00:55When storage units are abandoned...
00:58There we go, look at this one!
00:59Woo!
00:59Nice one!
01:00The treasures within...
01:01Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
01:03...are put up for auction.
01:05I scored on this.
01:06Throw it to you in!
01:07400.
01:08Woo!
01:09Nothing.
01:10Ah!
01:10M-O-N-E-Y.
01:13Are you mad?
01:13Yeah!
01:15Yeah!
01:23Nice.
01:26Real nice.
01:28Kenny, is that you?
01:29What up, Dad?
01:30What are you doing here, man?
01:32I spent the night last night.
01:33Any lawyer didn't tell you?
01:34Nope.
01:35I think we had some bears last night.
01:37Did you see them?
01:38Bears?
01:39Yeah, they get in the trash.
01:40Oh, no, bro.
01:41I better get to the auction, boy.
01:43Kumbaya!
01:45Come back, you coffee.
01:46Ha ha ha!
01:53Today, I got on my lucky slides.
01:55I wore them all the way from Las Vegas, Nevada to here.
01:59They should be double lucky by now.
02:01My slides collection is flawless.
02:04And these right here are the luckiest.
02:06I'm gonna slide into Riverslide, California,
02:08get me a unit, and slide right out of here.
02:14I'm a little bit hurt today.
02:15I'm having a nerve issue, a sciatica problem.
02:18Pain just sharpens the senses.
02:20I've taken bigger hits and still walked away with a win.
02:23They're gonna think I'm weak,
02:24because I'm using a little bit of a cane today.
02:26But we'll see who's weak.
02:30I had a really busy day yesterday.
02:32I did three photo shoots.
02:33I had a merch drop, maternity photo shoot,
02:36and then I also did a photo shoot for a DJ.
02:39I'm really hoping to find some good camera gear.
02:42You know, lenses aren't cheap, and it's crazy,
02:45because whenever I need something, I speak about it,
02:48and I always end up finding it in those units.
02:50I just say what I want, and I get it.
02:52That's the secret.
02:53I'm so excited.
02:54I'm going to another auction.
02:56I forgot how fun these are.
02:59Dave, when you have people spend the night,
03:01you need to let me know.
03:04I...
03:05Right, right, right, right.
03:06I suppose I should have told Dan a man slipped over...
03:10again.
03:10By the time I got him to sleep, you were fast asleep.
03:14What do you mean by the time you got him to sleep?
03:16I just gave him a little motivation about today's auction.
03:21Next time, I will let you know we have a house guest.
03:24Yeah.
03:29Water, girl.
03:30I think she's doing jazzercise.
03:31Ah, jeez.
03:33I thought you forgot about that already.
03:35Never.
03:35Never.
03:36Sharp.
03:37Whale.
03:38I love them.
03:39Huh?
03:39I love them. I chase them.
03:40I take photos of them.
03:42In the water?
03:42In the water.
03:43I go on a little dingy boat and chase and take photos.
03:45Hey, who got this girl?
03:47She dangerous.
03:48She played with the monsters in the water.
03:51Good job with you, homie.
03:52You guys right here?
03:53Yeah.
03:54Are those magic Chucks like magic slides?
03:56Yeah, they are.
03:57I love Chucks.
03:58Me too.
03:59You ain't old enough to know about them, though.
04:00He'll give you $5 and you can tell me the last name of Chuck.
04:05Oh.
04:06I would give a $5.
04:07Yeah.
04:08So if I knew the last name, who gonna give me $5?
04:10She is.
04:10To Taylor.
04:11Uh-huh, you want $5.
04:14She ain't got no pockets.
04:15No pockets.
04:16Chuck Taylor, I knew that.
04:18But you know what?
04:19Yeah.
04:19No shakesies.
04:20No takesies.
04:22Watch out Dave coming.
04:24Oh, what up, Dave?
04:26Uh-oh.
04:27The goat's a little bit hurt today.
04:28It's gonna be all right, but it ain't stopping me.
04:30Yeah.
04:31It ain't stopping me, though.
04:32How are you doing, ladies?
04:33Hi, Emily.
04:34Nice to meet you.
04:34Emily?
04:35Emily.
04:35Emily.
04:36David.
04:37David, nice to meet you.
04:38Most people just call me the goat.

04:42How you doing, roommate?
04:43Great.
04:43Hello, roommate.
04:44How you doing?
04:45Let me say hello.
04:47How you doing, man?
04:49How you doing?
04:49I'm all right.
04:50I'm all right.
04:50Oh, he got that look.
04:52Sum up.
04:52He's a little jealous.
04:53Oh, .
04:54I won't mention it, though.
04:55No, that's all right.
04:58It's done now.
04:59You know, I'm not jealous.
05:00But a little heads up, it'd be nice.
05:02So she's here, uh, buying up again today.
05:06Yeah, we know this thing ain't got no pockets.
05:08Oh.
05:08Well, a woman's trick is, you know, the brassiere.
05:11Uh-huh.
05:12Or the sock.
05:13Yeah.
05:13The shoe.
05:13Hey, Laura.
05:15Yes, Laura.
05:15Do you slide in them?
05:16Oh, you mean, like, slide like this?
05:18No, like, slide in, slide on.
05:21Oh.
05:21Oh, yes, I can.
05:22Slide in and slide out, right?
05:23Oh, sorta.
05:24There we go.
05:25That was more like a kick.
05:26Are those lucky?
05:27Yeah.

05:31So you're sliding in and out today.
05:32Lucky slide.

05:41Before you go through these gates, you need to know the rules.
05:43Gonna go to the unit, remove the lock, open the door,
05:45I'll give you five minutes.
05:46Take a look around.
05:47You can't go in the unit.
05:48Can't open any boxes.
05:49And who's ever got the most money in their pocket can own a tape.

05:52Yeah!
05:53Yeah!
05:53Let's go, let's go, let's go!
05:55All right, let's go, folks!
05:57We're gonna go all the way down here to the D building.
06:01Laura made the bomb-ass mafiatos, bro.
06:04I feel so imagized right now.
06:07There's only about four big hairs.
06:08I'll watch those four, the rest I'm gonna ignore.
06:11You don't know that, though.
06:12Not everybody here.
06:14Dave can hit, I can hit.
06:15Emily.
06:16I don't know, I don't know yet.
06:17Emily.
06:18Are you a hitter?

06:29Damn!
06:30Whoo!
06:31I need that chair.
06:36Bunch of wooden pieces of furniture.
06:38Looks like a lot of dust and dirt.
06:40This looks like it hasn't been touched in a while,
06:41so that's always a good sign.
06:42Is it kind of hard to see in a locker like that when you're short?
06:45I think so.
06:46Because she's kind of, like, behind.
06:47I know she'll see nothing but backbones.
06:49It's kind of like when you go up the escalator
06:50and somebody's tall in front of you,
06:51just looking their ass.
06:52Yeah, especially with the dress on, huh?
06:54Uh-huh.
06:57I'm not staying at Laura's house too long.
07:01It's got a little potential.
07:03You know, I see some antiques.
07:04I see some artwork.
07:05This could be silver, a little plated dish.
07:08I kind of like it.
07:09I want to see what happens.
07:10There's a whole house unit right here.
07:12They got a suitcase.
07:13They got a bow and arrow.

07:28A little bit of that coffee.
07:29I see .
07:29They don't see.
07:30Calculate your bid,
07:31because I'm trying to get that coffee money back.
07:34All right?

22:35I'd say 90s.
22:37It looks really unique, too.
22:38It could definitely be worth something.
22:40I think I need to do some research and see if somebody can tell me more about these.

24:39Ooh!
24:40Coolers.
24:41You cannot live without one of these, especially in Southern California.
24:44$50.
24:44And if it's really hot that day, $70.
24:47Sell them on the hottest day of the year, you get the most money.
24:49I think this is an Xbox.
24:51Yep.
24:51Xbox 360.
24:52This is an older model.
24:53They actually still sell real good.

25:16The Genesis itself.
25:18This whole entire box.
25:19$200.
25:21So many video games, this unit is a teenage nerd's dream come true.
25:25All that's missing is the ninja stars.
25:27Ugh!

25:51I'm going to say $400.
25:52Ooh!
25:53This must be a speaker for a car.
25:55Rockford Fosgate.
25:56One of the best brands there is.

26:20So right here we have a dresser with a bed.
26:23$150 all combined.
26:25Oh, we got some more stuff back here.
26:27We got...
26:28Oh!
26:28This is...
26:30I'm going to assume this is some kind of weapon.
26:34And it looks like old wrapping.
26:37And it definitely feels like this would be a handle.
26:41Or that would be a handle.
26:43Heck.
26:43I guess you hit with both sides.
26:45You know my motto.
26:46If I don't know something,
26:48find somebody who do.
26:50Made a couple hundred.
26:51But if this wooden stick's magic kicks in,
26:53it might slide me into a bigger payday.
26:55Lucky slides.
26:56Lucky slides.
26:57Don't fail me now.
26:59Ah.
27:00Hmm.
27:00Handle smells weird.
27:04Come on, ladies.
27:06I paid $15.50 on this locker.
27:09It's time to see if it was worth the gamble.
27:12Henry, can you grab me that...
27:14Here?
27:14Yeah.
27:15Right here.
27:17Give me all the boxes over here.
27:19Open them up.
27:21What is this?
27:22Oh, this is some kind of Legos.
27:25Look at that.
27:26This is the bases, I think.
27:27Probably $25 in each box.
27:29I'm gonna say conservatively $1 each.
27:31So, $1 a piece.
27:33$20, $40, $60, $80, $100, $120 bucks.
27:35There we go.
27:36Just like the checkout stand.
27:38$60.
27:40Lava.
27:41$60 all day long.
27:43Another $60.
27:44There you go.
27:46Come on, man.
27:46Faster, faster, faster.
27:48Another $60.
27:50Open these up for me.
27:51I gotta see what's in them.
27:53What the hell is a cushion?
27:54Are these dog beds for my dogs or what?
27:57Pregnancy pillows.
27:58$10 bucks each.
27:59I guess I'm gonna be in the pregnancy pillow business.
28:01$10.
28:03$10.
28:04Another $20 of pregnancy pillows.
28:06There's at least 50 pregnancy pillows in this unit.
28:09That's $500 bucks, baby.
28:11Get it?
28:13What have we got in here?
28:14Oh, look at that.
28:15Beautiful.
28:16Okay.
28:17So that's just like that.
28:18You put your lemonade.
28:20That's $100 right there.
28:23Here we go.
28:24Nice dish yet.
28:25It is made in Japan.
28:27I'm gonna say like $100 on this set at least.
28:31Okay.
28:31Kemperwood chest.
28:32Open it up.
28:34Surprise!
28:36What do we got here?
28:37Oh, there's a little bit of porcelain and stuff in here.
28:40Look at this.
28:41Inlaid jewelry box.
28:43This is gonna be like a six panel screen.
28:46All inlaid.
28:47Mother of Pearl.
28:48So I'm gonna say there's probably $100 worth of, uh,
28:51delectables in here.
28:53And then the chest alone.
28:55Dune dried.
28:56Probably out of the 60s or 70s.
28:59Easy $100 bill.
29:00Ancy table here.
29:03What do they call those?
29:04Lighthouses or, uh, windmills?
29:07That's a $40 bill.
29:10I like it.
29:121940s Dunkin' 5 mahogany.
29:1560 bucks.
29:17All right Henry, just let it roll.
29:18I'm still hoping for the gold strike.
29:21Oh, look at that.
29:28It's got a really cool lamp here.
29:30I don't know if it's mid-century, but it does have an older looking tag.
29:33I think that writing may be Russian.
29:37We have an old antique phone here.
29:41I think this is definitely Russian.
29:44I don't know.
29:45I may have to take this box to get an estimate on it.
29:49Put this over there Henry.
29:51All right.
29:53This is a headboard turned sideways black lacquer.
29:55This is probably the dresser.
29:57Black lacquer's pretty popular.
29:59That's gonna be about 200 bucks.
30:01I just sold dresser cleaned up.
30:03150 bucks.
30:04Another $100 of the miscellaneous.
30:07So all in all, I think I got my money back so far.
30:11Now I gotta phone a comrade to tell me more about these items.
30:15I don't know about you guys, but I'm exhausted.
30:18I'm getting out of here.
30:19I'll see you later.
30:23Oh, here we go.
30:25I'm meeting with weapons expert and owner of collector's armory, Joseph Bell.
30:29Figured he might know a thing or two about this wooden stick.
30:32Hopefully it doesn't leave me stumped.
30:35Joseph!
30:37Joseph!
30:38Yes, sir.
30:39How are you doing today?
30:40Doing pretty good today.
30:42I brought something here.
30:42To me it looks like some type of club or...
30:46Well, that's obvious.
30:47Yeah, it is a club.
30:49What you have there is commonly known in the west as a rifle stock club.
30:54These are from Fiji.
30:56This particular style is used as a status symbol.
31:00A chief or an esteemed warrior would carry these around the village showing his power as a warrior and a
31:08leader.
31:08What kind of wood is that?
31:09Tropical hardwood of some sort, usually from a root cluster on a very serious heavy tree and they carve this
31:19area here from the joint at the ground level.
31:23They still make them for the tourist trade, but this one has some actual patina and age look to it.
31:31So it's probably 19th century.
31:34It's amazing how thick it is.
31:36It's like the end of a baseball bat, not the beginning.
31:38Well, Fijians are like a lot of Pacific Islanders.
31:42They have a very large stature.
31:44Like the big Tungans.
31:45Big, heavy guys, six foot six, 350 pounds.
31:49Yeah.
31:50They're serious people as far as being able to fight.
31:55Well, I think I've got big enough I can carry that thing.
31:57Yeah.
31:58You could intimidate me with it, that's for sure.
32:02That depends on your answer to my next question, Joe.
32:05Well, I made a long drive here to see you for the most important question.
32:09You already know what that is.
32:10Yeah, I bet you want to know what it's worth.
32:13Yeah, I really want to know what it's worth.
32:14Well, let's take a look.
32:15Fijian stuff is relatively rare.
32:19Particularly any that have any natural age or patina.
32:23Good weight.
32:25No serious damage.
32:27I think its value would be...
32:35I'd say about $900.
32:41What a find.
32:43Now I can celebrate and go clubbing.
32:45So you know what?
32:46I think I'm going to go to Fiji.
32:48I'm going to take that so I think I'm like a king or something.
32:50They might.
32:52We don't know him, but he got the stick, so he got the power.
32:59Wow, this place is great.
33:01This is my kind of shop.
33:03Today I'm meeting with the owner of Gators Vintage.
33:05I'm curious if you can tell me more about these jackets I found.
33:08Hello.
33:09Hey, so good to meet you.
33:10Nice meeting you.
33:11Yeah.
33:11I got some vintage Carhartt jackets.
33:14I don't know much about them, so I'm hoping you can kind of give me some answers.
33:18Yeah.
33:18Maybe let's start on the just simple J97.
33:23Someone did a lot of work in this thing.
33:25So for the first 100 years of Carhartt's history, it was a workwear brand.
33:30They ran through both world wars producing uniforms.
33:33They produced clothing for American workers from the railways.
33:38But around the 1980s, jackets like this began to be fashionable.
33:43This is a pretty good example of a Carhartt jacket and it's not too shredded.
33:47Does that add to the character or is it more like they want them in pristine mint condition?
33:53So even though it's really distressed, it doesn't really take away from the value that much.
33:57And there's going to be a certain subset of vintage buyers who are really interested in having a piece that
34:02was this original and this distressed.
34:05That's one fun little detail if you want to see what the original color looks like.
34:09This was snapped for the entire time it was worn.
34:12So that's the real color right there.
34:14That's the original, yeah, the original color underneath.
34:15Gonna add that as a, what, a sun? Sun faded.
34:19Yeah, okay.
34:19See, I know the lingo.
34:21And then from the late 80s to the 1990s, Carhartt made these like Aztec style jackets a little bit more
34:28fashionable than utilitarian.
34:31A lot of rappers wore them like Wu-Tang Clan, Eazy-E.
34:35But you know, it's still duck canvas.
34:37It's still solid.
34:38Condition seems really good on this guy.
34:41A couple holes, all the elastic seems really good.
34:45Yeah, this is in actually really, really good shape for the era.
34:48Great.
34:49Yeah.
34:49Cool.
34:50Third jacket.
34:53Whoa.
34:54Stussy collaboration jacket.
34:56These are exceedingly rare, like really, really rare.
34:59So in the like early 1990s, just for a couple years, Stussy would buy Carhartt blanks and embroider their name
35:08on them.
35:09This was not like actual official collaboration between the two brands, but he did sell these at his shop.
35:15Okay.
35:15I've seen this exact jacket on eBay sell around $4,000.
35:23So you're telling me I have a $4,000 jacket right here?
35:28Unfortunately, I might have some bad news for you though.
35:37I believe this jacket is a reproduction.
35:40Wow.
35:41Sorry.
35:42Sorry about that.
35:43That sucks.
35:44Yeah.
35:44If you look at the buttons right here, do you see how clean that looks?
35:48Yeah.
35:4825 years of wear tends to make a button look like this.
35:53A little bit of fading on it, oxidization.
35:55Yeah, it's a huge difference.
35:57The zipper feels a little bit cheaper.
36:01And from what I understand about Carhartt, this sort of like polyester size label would be really, really non-traditional.
36:07I thought I struck gold with this jacket.
36:09Looks like I got duped by a dupe.
36:12All right.
36:12So how much do I have in all three jackets?
36:16In terms of the J97, in my shop I would probably value this around $200.
36:28Great.
36:28Yeah.
36:29Cool.
36:29And then in terms of the Aztec jacket, this is going to be the most valuable piece in the lot.
36:35I would probably put a value of around, I'd say you have around like $450 on it.
36:43Okay, awesome.
36:44I'm so sorry again about the Stacey jacket.
36:46It's okay.
36:47It'll be good for those cold auction mornings.
36:49It's cool.
36:50Yeah, it's nice looking, you know?
36:52Yeah.
36:52And maybe from a distance someone will think you have a $4,000 jacket on.
36:56Exactly.
36:57I guess this is the place.
37:04I'm bringing my Russian antiques to Charles Phoenix at Sunbeam Vintage.
37:09Apparently he's a king of kitsch.
37:11We've never met before.
37:12I'm Charles.
37:13David.
37:13Nice to meet you.
37:14Nice to meet you.
37:15This place is beautiful.
37:15Yeah, Sunbeam Vintage.
37:17Love it.
37:18Let's see if this stuff will be pooching some more money in my pocket.
37:22Let's start with this.
37:23Okay.
37:24Oh wait, what is this?
37:26I thought this was a television, but I'm wrong.
37:29Well, this doesn't go with this, because this isn't this.
37:32Oh, oh, oh, wait a minute now.
37:33The radio on top.
37:34I better wake up and smell the radio and the television.
37:37And this is it right here.
37:39Can we read anything on it?
37:41No.
37:41Unfortunately, I never studied Russian.
37:43And then, uh, what's this?
37:45Look, that's for a car now.
37:47It is for the car.
37:48Oh, that, okay, the plot just thickened.
37:50This will work in the car.
37:52Damn.
37:52You plug that into the cigarette lighter.
37:54Cars don't even have cigarette lighters anymore.
37:56But you know, old cars had four cigarette lighters.
37:59One for everybody.
38:00And ashtrays.
38:01And ashtrays.
38:02So you could just drive around and just smoke and drive around.
38:04I remember those days.
38:05Just smoke and drive around, yeah.
38:05And now we have a telephone.
38:07It looks like a telephone had a baby with a piano.
38:10These probably light up, and yeah, these are all the different lines.
38:14So like if, you know, the president is calling you.
38:17Remember dialing?
38:18Yes, I do.
38:18I'm old enough for that.
38:19Remember like in prank phone calls?
38:21You just dial a liquor store.
38:23Yeah.
38:23And do you have Prince Albert in a can?
38:25And they'd say, yes, we do.
38:26And then you'd say, you better let him out.
38:28And then you slam the phone down.
38:30Prank phone calls have been lost.
38:33Forever.
38:33Forever.
38:34Okay, so last but not least, where do we begin to behold the glory of how much we all seriously,
38:40no matter where in the world you are, everybody loves a Sputnik fixture.
38:44So this could go on a wall.
38:46It could go on a ceiling.
38:47It could go on a table.
38:49It could go on the whatever.
38:50It could go on your head.
38:51This is a superstar.
38:53Why do you call it Sputnik?
38:54Well, it's the classic term for the Sputnik, which is the satellite that the Russians sent
38:59in to outer space in 1957 in the race for space.
39:04But, you know, we won because we landed on the moon.
39:07Ha ha.
39:08And they didn't.
39:09There's so much going for this.
39:11Obviously, it's missing a couple light bulbs.
39:13No big deal.
39:13And then these decorative knobs.
39:15Needs a little polish.
39:16Needs a little detail.
39:17Easy breezy.
39:19Not to mention the fact that it is on a turquoise base.
39:22And turquoise is absolutely 100% classic in the realm of the space age era.
39:27Mid-century modern.
39:29I mean, this is a little more like streamlined modern, kind of art deco-y, but still fits
39:34into the mid-century aesthetic.
39:36Modern.
39:37I never heard that word.
39:38Mid-century modern.
39:39But modern is it more expensive?
39:41Modern does not make it more expensive.
39:43Modern makes it more like 1940s or 30s.
39:45Gotcha.
39:46Mid-century modern is more like 50s and 60s and 70s.
39:50Well, what do you think all this fine quality merchandise is worth?
39:54You've got three Russian pieces here.
39:57They are, you know, curiosity pieces, more or less.
40:02And they're a little dirty.
40:03They need detailing.
40:05I'd say on a good day, all cleaned up.
40:10I'd say you're about in the $500 range.
40:17500 bucks makes my day.
40:20Mission accomplished.
40:21Good thing I didn't rush in to judgment and throw this stuff away.
40:25Well, thank you so much for the info.
40:27I'm going to pack this stuff and get out of your way.
40:29My pleasure, Dave.
40:32Emily Pecoy kicked the competition in Riverside, walking away with nearly $5,000.
40:40Ivy Calvin clubbed up $1,100 bucks.
40:44Dave Hester limped his way to 800 rubles.
40:48While Kenny Crosley regrettably fell short, but pushed his luck one more time.
40:59Guess who's back?
41:06Baby!
41:07Kenny!
41:08Guess who's back?
41:09What are you doing here?
41:10For some gifts, because you made that bomb-ass caramel macchiaco last time.
41:15You know what I mean?
41:16So what you doing?
41:17Oh my God, I love it!
41:18I thought I could spend about three weeks with y'all since the doors are open.
41:21You know what?
41:21Your timing couldn't be better.
41:23Laura's got me doing Honeydew Weekend.
41:25You're not afraid of heights, right?
41:26Yeah, yeah, yeah.
41:27Well, you're not going to be after it today, because I'm going to put you up in that ladder,
41:30and we're going to switch out all those bulbs, and then we're going to put some Christmas
41:33lights on.
41:33And that loose tile.
41:34Don't forget that.
41:35If you'd fix that, it'd be great.
41:36And you know what else?
41:37You could sit on Bear Watch tonight with Danny.
41:40Oh my God, you guys have a big turn.
41:42So come on in.
41:42Well, you know what, Brian?
41:43I just remember, today is the wrong time and wrong day.
41:47I'll see y'all in about two weeks.
41:49I'll be back.
41:50Watch yourself.
41:51Thanks, Kenny.
41:52Yeah, I'll be back.
41:53You barely got out of the house.
41:55What the hell?
41:56You talking about bear watch?
41:57You got a bull .
41:58Man, I ain't got time to be fooling with no damn bear.
