00:00it done and uh stay with me here because it gets nuts as we pick it up in the fourth
00:05quarter and
00:05in this pivotal game five uh by the way Spears the Cavs were held scoreless for five minutes and
00:11four seconds in the fourth quarter didn't look good did not look great watching that a little bit
00:15but you know what the Pistons capitalized off this scoring drought regained the lead here
00:20Cade of course drawing attention get it out to Tobias corner three gotta call somebody is he
00:32always on the line all right Cavs would come storming back though young fellas playing great
00:39defense but doesn't stop the dunk right there he got up in the air and I thought there could be
00:43bad
00:43things on that turnover yeah okay so you saw there the double team on Cade which you know
00:49understandable but they got to it late in this game Mobley was big wasn't he huge
00:55Mobley definitely come there is that double team again get it out look at James playing defense
00:59look at James moving his feet oh okay however okay James Harden sometimes huge okay this is where
01:08things get real spicy in the final seconds if you miss that Mitchell drives stripped by Asar Thompson
01:15then Thompson gets tripped but no call coach very upset about this here at Allen on edge he found Asar
01:23it's that I mean clear he trips him when he's going for a loose ball in the game situation you
01:30know that's tough so here's what referee Tony brother said about that play during live play both players
01:37were going for the ball and there was incidental contact with the legs with no player having
01:42possession of the ball that's one of the last OG refs he ain't calling that in short we take it
01:49to
01:49overtime spider doing what he does banks that one in he's back you know so many times the team
01:56comes back from a deficit and then lose in overtime because they run out of gas yeah Cleveland had it
02:01some
02:01extra massive check this out strews oh okay crazy Cade was not ready for him to try to steal there
02:09all
02:11Harden goes to the line misses it but gets his own rebound Cavs win 117 here's Harden with Lisa Salters
02:20we're a fairly new team for the most part so we got to find out you know who we are
02:24in the moments
02:24which is this is good for us so this is our story this is how we're how we're shaping our
02:28story uh
02:29great time to win the game great time to have a first world win big old win the recovery battle
02:33win right now
02:35like if that's good that's the key you get him at home no time to relax no time to relax
02:39we don't
02:40we don't we don't get this out like I said we don't get this opportunity to office you know what
02:43I
02:43mean so like like do whatever you got to do to be prepared for game six and we got to
02:46give one more
02:47shot the Cavaliers go on a 9-0 run to end the fourth quarter and win in overtime they overcame
02:56their largest deficit in the final three minutes of a playoff game in the last 30 years James Harden's
03:02teams had been 0-59 when trailing by at least nine points in the final three minutes of a playoff
03:08game
03:10crazy wow thank goodness we have two of our senior writers here with me Ramona uh Ramona Shelburne and
03:16Mark Spears guys craziness for sure this is what we sort of expect a little bit but not to this
03:21degree
03:21Ramona the Cavs are now one win one win away from a band uh advancing here what is their mindset
03:27going
03:27into game six well I think you heard James Harden say some of that which is we got to win
03:31right now
03:32yeah it's game six when you have an opportunity and you have a team and a chance to eliminate them
03:37you don't take those for granted and when you don't get it done that becomes now your story your legacy
03:43something you have to live with and he's in year 17 he doesn't know how many more of these opportunities
03:47he's going to have and I think that's why he was open to going to Cleveland you know he had
03:51a he could
03:51have vetoed that trade from the Clippers he's from Los Angeles but felt like this team gave him a chance
03:56to win and they're right there and they don't want to let that opportunity slip through so they got to
04:00get it
04:00down in game six no question I mean it's quite literally do or die uh Mark you've spent a lot
04:05of time with Donovan Mitchell this season how poetic is it that he is on the cusp of getting to
04:10the
04:10conference finals really for the first time in his career uh this is the biggest game of his career
04:15for several reasons I'm not putting extras on it that's what it is um one he's never been in a
04:20conference finals in his career two he told me at the beginning a couple weeks ago that he and James
04:26and
04:26Joel Embiid have more to prove in the playoffs than anybody three he's from New York that a bad
04:32accent he's from New York the New York Mets put food on his table he used to be in their
04:37clubhouse
04:38all the time his dad works there he was a high school star in New York he started the season
04:43in
04:43New York he wants to finish the regular season in New York playing against the Knicks his childhood
04:48team went to the garden as a kid is a huge deal and if that's his path to the finals
04:53and he's able
04:54to do it I don't know if he could write it any better than that but he has to win
04:59first also
05:01the Knicks who had a chance to trade for him and didn't do the last little bit to get that
05:05trade
05:06done talk about it there's a lot of layers to this one all right on the other side of things
05:09the
05:09Pistons became the fifth 60 win team to lose three straight games in a best of seven series after
05:16taking a two to nothing lead three of the previous four went on to lose the series so the only
05:21exception
05:22was the 2006 Pistons against the Cavaliers here's Cade on his team trailing in the series
05:31first of four wins though you know that we've had our back against the wall before um at the end
05:36of
05:36the day I mean if we can't win a game on the road how far are we really gonna get
05:39in the playoffs how
05:40far we're gonna get in this league so Mark how do you expect the Pistons to win two in a
05:44row
05:44well one maybe their fans could show up to to Cleveland Hawaii the Detroit fans not far right
05:50no they took over the arena they showed a lot of disrespect in Detroit but I think Jalen Dern's
05:56got to get them back I mean we know we know what Cade is Jalen's an all-star too uh
06:01Trajan Langdon
06:02the general manager and uh their coach both told me JB that they weren't upset about not making a
06:10trade for another score they felt like they were fine they want to give their guys a chance Jalen
06:14didn't get much of a chance last game he only played a little bit in the fourth quarter didn't
06:18play in overtime he's averaging 10 less points in this series than he is in the regular season four
06:23less rebounds he's got to show up he has to be big this may be a bad matchup for him
06:28but he's an
06:28all-star potential superstar in this league and he he has to arrive listen I I think they need some
06:35more gravity on the court to create space for everybody I mean Cade's doing everything but
06:38there's a reason why they're putting a double team on him every single time and the reason
06:42they don't have this space is Duncan Robinson wasn't able to play he's had this back this
06:46lower back tightness um it's kind of popped up throughout the series so you know what gravity
06:49is that's like one of those things coaches talk about we learned about it in school right that's
06:52like the the gravity of a planet right okay yeah you learn about gravity and go to Stanford like
06:57okay this is one of my favorite terms and I I can't believe this is really a stat now
07:02like how do we measure gravity are we actually doing the physics are we just saying
07:06that it quantifies the measure of a player's impact on defensive movement related to expectation
07:11from floor spacing gravity means people respect you they got to guard you out by three Duncan
07:16Robinson is one of the biggest gravitational pulls in the playoff so I guess in that graphic
07:20he'd be Mars is that right if we're talking about the plan like like SGA would be Jupiter and then
07:26Saturn would be Wemby we're just going in the origin of a plan they're missing a lot of gravity and
07:31gravity creates space that's why he's got those contracts with Miami Heat and the Detroit
07:35Pistons over the years and I you know from what I'm told he's gonna he's gonna try to play in
07:39game
07:39six it's hard to predict it's still still got to do some work but there's a chance he can come
07:44back
07:44in game six with this lower back injury another guy who has some gravitas there you go Kate Cunningham
07:50Spears I mean he has just been quite literally the MVP of this Pistons team throughout the entire
07:57season ain't no gravity for him he on earth and he's getting double team and he can't breathe anywhere he
08:02goes coach Pickerstaff mentioned it after the game they definitely need Duncan back and you have
08:09somewhat update on him I think or yeah I think there's a chance that he can play in game six
08:13he's got it it's still to be determined right you don't want to say yes yet but he's going to
08:17try
08:17he needs them no matter where he goes he's got like this has been a brilliant defensive plan from
08:24the Cavaliers it's not going to change that's what that's what makes it tough also I was waiting for
08:30JB to go off on the refs a little bit Cleveland has shot like 46 more free throws in the
08:34last
08:34couple Tony brothers don't don't play though I know but that's that's the difference in the last
08:39couple games here analyst King McClure to the show all right King so the Knicks are back in the Eastern
08:44Conference Finals for the second straight season in large part because of their elite offense what
08:49have you seen from him they've completely reconstructed what they do on the offensive side
08:53they've gone away from late shot clock isolation situations with Brunson we know he's good but
08:58they play to the strengths of their personnel they're running more of a read and react offense
09:03that allows a free-flowing type of mindset that's extremely hard to guard if you're not
09:07communicating on the defensive side and as a result of that look at this right here this graphic is
09:11crazy since 1987 way before I was born right they have the most points scored the most points in the
09:18last through the first 10 games right let me take you to the film room and I'll show you exactly
09:22what I
09:22mean let's go to it I want you to notice that they go through Carl Anthony Towns he's completely
09:27transformed the offense extremely simple but effective right a simple curl screen no help on
09:34the backside because you got a shooter in the corner and now all of a sudden Mikael Bridges gets
09:38an easy layup same thing right you can disguise it in a myriad of ways and right here out of
09:43a closeout
09:44that's too much space Vijay Edgecombe is now having a closeout Jalen Brunson is too good
09:48one-on-one he can create he can get by you and you are at his mercy all right last
09:53play because once
09:54again this is high IQ from Jalen Brunson they get the ball to Carl Anthony Towns they fake the handoff
09:59look at how he switches his angle on the screen he goes from a down screen to a flex screen
10:03which
10:04completely throws off the defense and now OG Ananobi for the easy flush I mean this right here
10:10when you look at what Carl Anthony Towns has done in the years of 2024 and 2025 through his 34
10:15postseason
10:16games 66 assists well right here in 2026 through 10 games he has already matched that he has been
10:23phenomenal and when they play through him they have had a ton of success MJ uh you know what we
10:28call
10:28that platano power my cousin not really but you know if you're Dominican you got it king thank you
10:33so much now a big part of all of this if the Knicks want to win it all they have
10:38to be healthy no one
10:40knows that better than our senior writer uh Vince Goodwill joining us now who covers everything Knicks
10:46you got us Vince so OG Ananobi was at practice yesterday after missing those past two games with
10:51a hammy uh injury what's his status well he went through practice yesterday although he went through
10:58the non-contact portion of practice when the Knicks went live he did individual stuff he was shooting
11:03when the media let him in let us into practice yesterday he did not have on a practice jersey so
11:08the Knicks might have been trying to give off a little something there but it all tracks that MJ
11:14he could and should be available for game one of the Eastern Conference Finals when it begins it's
11:20just a nice little time of rest for the Knicks to get healthy compared to some of these other teams
11:24who are battling it out in the second round yeah to that end Vince this is a long layoff for
11:29New York
11:30as they may have up to seven nine days potentially without a game what is their mindset uh with this
11:36much time off
11:38MJ is the old rest versus rust battle that the Knicks are going through that game four against
11:43Philly when they were hitting all those threes that resulted in tying an NBA record they want to play
11:48every day they want to keep the rhythm going but Josh Hart told us yesterday you know what we need
11:53the
11:53rest to be able to recoup not just OG but himself he's got a wrist injury and some hand stuff
11:58that he
11:59may need that may need surgery in the offseason so this period is good for them and again whether they
12:05go against Cleveland or Detroit in the conference finals to have the week off to rest their minds
12:11in their bodies and to retune some of these offensive principles that King McCoy was just
12:15talking about there it can't be anything but a positive for them huge all right Vince thank you
12:20for always keeping us honest in all things next all right this season the Knicks were two and one
12:24against the Cavs and oh and three against the Pistons they did however beat Detroit in the first round
12:29of the playoffs last year here's what Josh Hart had to say about the long layoff the first series we
12:35had what four days break I think it was yeah that was that was that was good enough yeah this
12:43right
12:44now I think what at least a week if not nine days so it's a long time normalize more dogs
12:53at the press
12:53conferences okay I'm bringing Gunny next time that's all I'm saying uh Mark who would the Knicks rather
12:59face here the Pistons or the Cavs in this conference final one thing is curious about
13:02that stat I was wondering like how many of those games were against James Harden with James Harden
13:07and so I don't know uh that being said the way the Cavaliers are looking right now I say the
13:13Cavaliers are the tougher opponent because they have more offensive weapons and I see Donovan Mitchell
13:18being extra motivated going back home I mean I I don't think you want to play the Cavs because of
13:25the
13:25way they're playing but Detroit and the Knicks already know what it looks like when you play a
13:29seven game series and that one was real close last year because their styles are both from physical
13:34rugged teams that push each other around they usually win with their physicality so I'd rather play a team
13:39that I can be more physical against and I think that would probably be the Cavs yeah for me it's
13:43Detroit because when you look at it Jalen Duran has not been the Duran that we've known him to be
13:47all season they do not have Duncan Robinson we don't know the status of even if he does play how
13:52healthy
13:53will he be so because of the unknowns of Detroit I think that's the opponent that you really want
13:59to go into the series and see
