00:00Is the iconic Cinerama Dome in Hollywood one step closer to reopening?
00:04Well, the Hollywood community isn't convinced.
00:06A rep for the owners of the storied movie theater participated in a public hearing,
00:10which quickly devolved into a tense airing of grievances.
00:14For 42 minutes, dozens of citizens spoke up to express their frustration
00:18that the theater has remained closed for six years,
00:21calling out ownership for blaming its extended closure on the pandemic
00:24and providing zero meaningful communication with the community.
00:28Several interested buyers, including Quentin Tarantino,
00:31have made offers for the property in years past,
00:33but the owners have held onto the theater, allowing it to sit unused.
00:37At the hearing, the Cinerama Dome did receive approval
00:40for a conditional use permit to serve alcohol.
00:42But with no clear timeline for reopening,
00:45citizens are not convinced that the beloved venue is coming back anytime soon.
