00:00The condition affecting 1 in 10 women worldwide just got renamed, and doctors
00:04say that this will change how it will be treated forever. PCOS, polycystic ovary
00:09syndrome, is now officially called PMOS, polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome.
00:15The rename was published this week in The Lancet. The Endocrine Society said
00:19that the old name reduced a complex hormonal disorder to a misunderstanding
00:24about cysts. This directly led to misdiagnosis and inadequate treatment for
00:28170 million women worldwide. And the new name tells the full truth. This is not
00:33just about ovaries, it's a whole body condition affecting insulin, mental health,
00:38weight, fertility, and skin. And 70% of the women that have it don't even know.
00:43Share this video with every woman that you know and save it for your next
00:46doctor's appointment.
