00:00So you used to sneak into a theme park?
00:01Yes, yeah.
00:02At night?
00:03No, not at night. During the day, like on a Saturday with my mate.
00:05Luke is one of the most top-tier human beings, I know,
00:08so if we could get to do a crossover with him, we'd love it.
00:11I think Beth and Rip need to have a drink.
00:14Kelly and Cole, hello.
00:15Hello.
00:15Congratulations on the show.
00:17I must confess, because you guys have been so well-known
00:20from these characters over the last, like, eight years,
00:23I completely forgot that Kelly was English.
00:25Yeah.
00:26Come on, really?
00:27Completely, like, when you look at it,
00:29you've been in loads of great things over here,
00:31and I hear it under the salt marsh, it's really, really good.
00:34But I just forgot, and then I was doing my research,
00:36I was like, she's from Chessington.
00:37Yeah, I am, mate.
00:38Have you ever taken Cole to Chessington World of Adventure?
00:40No, this is his first time over.
00:42It's like, Chessington World of Adventure is where I spent my misspent youth.
00:46Misspent youth?
00:47Well, we all would, like, go over the fence, all my mates,
00:51like, at the weekends and the Saturday.
00:52It's like a theme park.
00:53It's like, where it's like...
00:55It was a long, come get me.
00:58But yeah, no, it was, it's like just up the road,
01:01and it's like, how can I explain it?
01:03It's not like...
01:04It's not the biggest theme park in the world.
01:05But it is, it's quality.
01:07Yeah, it's great.
01:07It's all killer, no filler.
01:08It's a great, it's...
01:09Yeah, it's fun.
01:10And it used to be a zoo,
01:11but now it's less of a zoo and more of a theme park.
01:13So you used to sneak into a theme park?
01:15Yes, yeah.
01:15At night?
01:16No, not at night.
01:17During the day, like on a Saturday with my mates.
01:19Oh, okay.
01:19Do it for yourselves.
01:20You guys get over there.
01:21Don't waste your time.
01:22I was about to say, yeah.
01:24Also, when I was doing my research for this,
01:25your great-grandfather was like,
01:28Harry Warner from Warner?
01:29Great-grandfather, yeah.
01:30Oh God, Chessington to Warner.
01:32Yeah.
01:32It's not really...
01:33That blew into my mind, that kind of stuff.
01:36You're moving and shaking.
01:36I'm guessing the family are out of that business now.
01:38You're not about to make like a gazillion dollars from...
01:40No, no, no.
01:42That's long gone, buddy.
01:43That's still so cool.
01:45Anyway, congratulations on the show, guys.
01:48Beth and Rip, we thought you guys were having a happy year ever after.
01:52And then out of the frying pan into a whole new inferno.
01:56Yeah.
01:57Are they cursed people or are they chaotic people bringing this on themselves,
02:01do you think, at this point?
02:02Well, we could do a thesis on that, I guess, couldn't we?
02:05Yeah.
02:05I mean, I guess karma is something that you can't outrun and I wonder...
02:10I think the curse of the ranch has been lifted, right?
02:14It's been...
02:14The land has been handed back.
02:16It was got...
02:16It was able to be preserved.
02:18Yeah.
02:18And that was the promise that my ancestors, my father to his father.
02:23And so in that regard, that has sort of ended.
02:26But I think Beth and Rip trying to start a new beginning, I think life isn't easy.
02:31And I think that they are going to just...
02:34I don't know if it's because of them that they invite problems, but I think life is hard
02:40for people and there's always something around the corner.
02:43And they're just trying to start a new living.
02:45They're trying to do a farm to table ranch, keeping it small, protect it.
02:49And they just...
02:49It just keeps finding them trouble.
02:53Yeah.
02:53I mean, I'm not so convinced that this curse is necessarily lifted after watching a couple
02:57of episodes of this.
02:58Life is hard for people, but it's not that hard.
03:01We agree.
03:02Yeah.
03:02How do you guys feel about the ending of Yellowstone now?
03:05You're kind of a couple of years on.
03:08Did you feel like...
03:09I'm guessing you might have had an inkling that this was coming afterwards or would you
03:13have been happy for your characters to kind of step off and go, that was then at that point?
03:18I mean, our focus, I think, was finishing Yellowstone the best we knew how and then seeing where
03:24it headed.
03:25And, you know, soon after the end of Yellowstone, there was some conversations and Kelly and I
03:30were open to it, of course.
03:31But, you know, then when it hit, it hit fast and hard.
03:34And all of a sudden we were in production and scripts were flying at us and we had to go
03:38to work.
03:39And similar to, you know, the characters, we had to kind of find our own way.
03:43A lot has changed, as you know.
03:45You know, the writers have changed.
03:47You know, the characters are different.
03:49I mean, we're lucky enough to have some legends in Ed Harris and Annette Bening in the new
03:54show, which was fantastic.
03:56But I think, in a way, life imitated the art, you know, where we were on uneasy ground, you
04:03know, for the beginning portion of it.
04:05You want to find your way and look for quality and care and sort of go, whoa, spaced with
04:12adversity.
04:13These characters, they lose everything.
04:15And they literally have the clothes on their back and a horse.
04:20And as long as they're, and their kid, yeah.
04:22And now, and they literally begin again.
04:25And I hope that the audience will be with them in that because they know what they're
04:29made of.
04:30With Taylor not on the writing team of this one, I guess there's, it's kind of a two-sided
04:35coin.
04:35On one hand, there's this like pressure of living up to kind of the quality and being truthful
04:42and doing service to the characters that have been built over the years.
04:45But on the other hand, gives the show an opportunity to be kind of unique and have a
04:48completely different voice, I guess, in a way.
04:50And a new responsibility.
04:51You know?
04:52You couldn't have said it better.
04:54I mean, it really is that balance of honoring what is and holding on to what is, which is
04:59two incredibly brilliantly written characters with all that richness.
05:04But we're now, we're taking it into a different place.
05:07Um, and we're, we're excited to do it together.
05:11Yeah.
05:11We really take care of, we care a lot about it.
05:14We've worked really hard on it.
05:15Um, but it's also really nerve wracking because there's such an expectation and they're big
05:19shoes to fill.
05:20Right?
05:20So, um, but Taylor Sheridan is exec producer on this.
05:23Like, it's not like we're just been.
05:24Yeah, he's got his hands all over it.
05:25We're just not, we haven't just been sold.
05:27Like, we're not like James Bond franchise.
05:29Like, off you go.
05:30Like, we're, we're, we're definitely within house.
05:33It's not that awkward one that, uh, Sean Connery came back for.
05:36The kind of, what was it?
05:37Thunderball?
05:37Was it the, the kind of the separate one?
05:39I think it's a decent movie to be fair.
05:40Uh, a word on.
05:41Anything with Sean Connery's.
05:43A word on, uh, Ed and Annette, um, formidable Annette Penning.
05:47And, and Ed Harris kind of almost against the type that we're used to in, in recent years.
05:52Kind of salt of the earth, kind hearted, uh, character.
05:55Cause we know he can, he can put the, the moves on you when he wants to be formidable.
05:59Uh, but what was it like kind of inviting these guys into your universe in a way?
06:05Cause as actors, it doesn't get much more exciting than working with you before.
06:10We both felt honored, I think.
06:11Oh my God.
06:11I mean, it's just one of those things.
06:12Couldn't believe that they came to, wanting to join us in this.
06:16And, and we have, we share this show with them.
06:18This is not a Beth and Rip show.
06:19Yeah.
06:20This is Dutton Ranch.
06:21It's with Annette Penning and Ed Harris.
06:23Like we're, we're so, um, God, to work with them has been so.
06:27Yeah.
06:27To be able to play with them on screen was just, I mean, a dream come true for me.
06:31Yeah.
06:32It's the heavyweights, you know, you're in the arena with these real hitters.
06:35So you're like, you've got to be ready for them.
06:37And like you said about Ed, you know, he, he, he can be terrifying, but he's a, you know,
06:43he, he plays the character that is so good.
06:46I think he's like the, the heart of the show.
06:48Yeah.
06:48Um, he's the goodness of this show.
06:50And, um, I think we need, you know, we, we needed that sort of wisdom and that.
06:56Yeah.
06:56His character is very grounding for Texas.
06:58Yeah.
06:58Like he is the earth of Texas in a way.
07:00You know, I was saying that in an interview before, you know, people are asking me what,
07:04what kind of character is he?
07:05And I was thinking, you know what?
07:06He's somebody that when you get to a place, if you meet them, you're lucky.
07:10Yeah.
07:11Well, I really enjoyed the first couple of episodes, guys.
07:13I'm looking forward to chewing up the rest of it.
07:15Uh, I've got to go.
07:16So quick, very, very short answer.
07:19Marshall's crossover.
07:20People are going to be wanting it.
07:21Is it on the agenda?
07:22Are you hoping to in the next couple of years?
07:24Maybe things go well.
07:25So if it happens, it happens.
07:26Luke is one of the most top tier human beings.
07:28I know.
07:29So if we could get to do a crossover with him, we'd love it.
07:31I think Beth and Rip need to have a drink.
07:34Don't you think?
07:35With, with Casey?
07:36Yeah.
07:37Find out what's going on in his life.
07:38Yeah.
07:38From the first two episodes of this, I think Beth and Rip need a long lie down if you're
07:42on a holiday somewhere away from the Wild West.
07:45Holiday would be good.
07:46Um, pleasure, guys.
07:46Lovely to meet you.
07:47Yeah.
07:47Get to Chesterton World of Adventure.
07:49Highly recommend.
07:51I'll get you in.
07:51And I'll see you down the line for free.
07:53Yeah.
07:54Go jump the fence.
07:55See how that goes over.
07:55No, that was back in 1985, so.
07:58I might pull the hamstring.
07:59I'll share that, yourself.
07:59I'll show that, you.
