00:31Hello, everybody. It's Friday the 13th of March, but don't worry about that. Everything's coming up roses because Countdown is
00:38here.
00:38So let's give Dictionary Corner their flowers, as always. The brilliant Susie Dent alongside our friend and Countdown family, Colin
00:45Jackson, and our Queen of Numbers, Rachel Riley, ready for, of course, a very special weekend.
00:51We can relax here, but very different for both of you. Rachel, younger children. Susie, growing up children.
00:58So what's Mother's Day for you this weekend? What are the expectations when both of your kids are adults?
01:06I've never really had any expectations. It's always a lovely surprise if you are given breakfast in bed or taken
01:12out for lunch. It's usually just a lovely lunch out.
01:15If you're hanging for a lunch, that's what you're hoping.
01:16Yeah, so no pressure. It's just actually just a lovely day.
01:19Different with the young'uns. So you might get something made for you.
01:23Well, mine have been asking since about November, where Mother's Day is, because they're determined to make breakfast in bed.
01:29And they said, you know, what do you want? I said, well, my favourite's toast with butter and vegan salmon,
01:33black pepper, lemon juice.
01:35And she said, it's lemon juice to drink, Mummy. So I'm not sure what kind of breakfast I'm going to
01:40get, but it's very cute.
01:41And my big one, she's writing now, and there just comes a time in every girl's life where she's obsessed
01:46with making cards.
01:47Yeah.
01:48So I'm expecting some homemade things.
01:49That'll be lovely, though, won't it? Your first kind of homemade card from your kid.
01:53Very sweet.
01:53Maybe using the crepe paper, makes a flower. Did you ever, did you keep that stuff, the first thing?
01:57Oh, I have two bulging memory boxes for both mine. Yeah, I think they're lovely things to keep.
02:03You'll keep it forever. Special, special weekend.
02:06Right. Well, this is a strange one. Let me just introduce our two-time champion, Sam Wilders, who returns in
02:11London.
02:12I just need a yes or a no here. Do you do or did you used to do Thai boxing?
02:17Yes, I used to.
02:18Hold that thought. Hold that thought.
02:20Ibrahim Raza joins us from Harrow in London today.
02:25Ibrahim, kickboxing and jiu-jitsu, is that right?
02:27Yes, I've tried both.
02:28OK. Well, you can absolutely put a Muay Thai fighter in with a kickboxer. That works.
02:33That's very, very close. That's like middleweight heavyweight. It's fine.
02:36So let's work out who would win if they fought each other.
02:39We're not asking you to fight. I want to make that clear.
02:42It's going to be a theoretical kickboxing fight between you both.
02:45Sam, give me your qualifications, how long you did it, what level you're at.
02:50Did it for about two years, end of uni through to the pandemic, mainly as an excuse to find people
02:54to drink with.
02:55So I'm going to bow out of this one, I think.
02:58Ibrahim?
02:58Not much better. I only did it for three months.
03:04I was open for Jean-Claude Van Damme. All I got was damn.
03:08That's no good.
03:10I'm declaring it a mismatch. Nobody turned up.
03:13We didn't sell any tickets. Disgrace to the sport.
03:16But I will say that Ibrahim and Sam as well keep it clean today.
03:20Everything above the waist. May the best man win.
03:22Good luck to both of you.
03:26Off you go, Sam.
03:28Good afternoon, Rachel.
03:28Afternoon, Sam.
03:29Can I have a constant, please?
03:31You can, indeed.
03:32S.
03:33And another.
03:36M.
03:36And another.
03:38V.
03:42And a vowel.
03:44O.
03:46And another vowel, please.
03:47A.
03:48A third.
03:50I.
03:52A consonant.
03:54T.
03:55And a...
03:57Vowel, please.
03:59Final E.
04:00At home and in the studio for the last time this week.
04:03Let's play Countdown.
04:04And a...
04:08Vowel, please.
04:33Sam.
04:35Seven.
04:36Ibrahim.
04:37Seven.
04:37Yes, good start both of you, Sal.
04:39Opiates.
04:40And for you, Ibrahim?
04:42Movates.
04:42How are you spelling it?
04:44M-O-V-A-T-E-S.
04:46Let's find out.
04:47Yeah, novates, I know comes up a lot.
04:50Sadly, not movates.
04:52Yeah, sorry about that, Ibrahim.
04:54Early doors, what have you got there, Colin?
04:55We've got an eight.
04:57Vampiest.
04:59I cannot be the most vampire-like.
05:02Well, if you're vampy, it is linked to a vampire.
05:05So a woman described as a vamp is sort of, you know, out there.
05:09If you like exactly like that, you're being the vampiest person around.
05:12Do you mean like a louvre, kind of, dressed, I still don't get it.
05:15Dressed in black?
05:16Dressed to attract, basically, if you were vampy.
05:20There always is that when you watch those vampire series.
05:23They're quite racy, aren't they?
05:24Yeah, seductive, it's all about seducing.
05:26Yes, it is indeed.
05:26Right, OK, let's have another round, Ibrahim.
05:29Hi, Rachel.
05:29Hi, Ibrahim.
05:30Could I please have a consonant?
05:31You can indeed.
05:33D.
05:33And another.
05:57And lastly, I.
05:59And let's do it.
06:30Ibrahim.
06:31I have a six.
06:32And for you, Sam?
06:33I'll do the same.
06:34What have you got there, Ibrahim?
06:35Wounds.
06:36And for you, Sam?
06:37Donuts.
06:38Yes.
06:39I know I'd rather have one than the other.
06:41It's a big thing now, Cole.
06:43It used to just be we got them down at the seaside.
06:45They went through the, you know, the deep farts and off into sugar.
06:48Down.
06:48But now there's all the, have you seen his designer donut places?
06:52Like 80 quid for a donut.
06:54I know, I still can't afford them.
06:55Either way, the cost or the calories.
06:58Trade him one of those watches.
07:01Excellent stuff.
07:02Ibrahim, you're on the board.
07:03Well done to you.
07:04And Sam, you know what's happening next.
07:05The numbers.
07:06Can I have four last, please, Rachel?
07:07You can.
07:08You can have your favourite.
07:09Four from the top and two little ones.
07:11Often a tricky selection.
07:12Let's see what we have today.
07:13They are two and ten.
07:16And 175, 25 and 50.
07:19With the target to find, 965.
07:23965.
07:24Numbers up.
07:56965 is what we're looking for, Sam.
07:58Only 975.
08:00975.
08:0110 away.
08:02Scrape you.
08:02Scrape you five points in this.
08:04Ibrahim did better.
08:05973.
08:06973.
08:07That is it.
08:07You'll get the five points if that is right.
08:10You're eight away.
08:119, 7, 3.
08:12So I did 100 times 10.
08:15100 times 10, 1,000.
08:181,000 minus 25.
08:20975.
08:22Minus two.
08:24Minus two.
08:25973.
08:26There you go.
08:27Well done, Ibrahim.
08:28You picked that up.
08:28You're within two points.
08:30965, Rach.
08:32You're going to have to leave it with me.
08:33It was a tricky one.
08:34All right.
08:34Let's get this tea time teaser.
08:35Pure fish.
08:36Pure fish.
08:37Pure nonsense and fishy tales combined to make these.
08:40Pure nonsense and fishy tales combined to make these.
08:59Welcome back.
09:00A lot to get through.
09:01So let's get to it.
09:02Furfies then.
09:03And I think we're a really big Christmas present for kids not long ago.
09:07Oh, no, it's Furby's.
09:08What have you got?
09:08It's Furby's.
09:09Furfies, yeah, Australian English.
09:11They are absurd tales.
09:13And it's a bit sort of like the gossip that was exchanged at the water cooler because these
09:17were water carts that were printed with the name of Furfie, a manufacturer in Australia.
09:24And so people would gather and spread stories that often weren't true.
09:26Well, everyone's whispering and gossiping.
09:28Is she going to get 9, 6, 5?
09:30Of course she is.
09:31Off you go.
09:31No, your best bet is to add or take away the 25 or 75.
09:34Tried too many combinations in the 30 seconds.
09:36But if you say 50 divided by 25 is 2, times the 2 for 4, add it to 100 for
09:44104, times that
09:46by 10 for 1,040, and you have the 75 left over to take away for 9, 6, 5.
09:52Nice.
09:55There you go.
09:55But the five points in the numbers went to Ibrahim, who studied accountancy and finance at
10:01the University of London.
10:02Should be good with numbers, but back to the letters.
10:05Could I please have a consonant?
10:06Thank you, Ibrahim.
10:07S.
10:08And another.
10:10N.
10:11One more, please.
10:13G.
10:14Could I have a vowel now?
10:15A.
10:16And another.
10:17E.
10:18One more.
10:20I.
10:20Could I please have a consonant?
10:23P.
10:24And another.
10:26T.
10:27And one more vowel, please.
10:29Good.
10:30Combo with a final E.
10:31Half a minute.
11:03OK, give me a number there, Ibrahim.
11:05I have seven. And Sam? Eight.
11:07The seven is? Pasting.
11:10Impressive enough, right, but what's the eight? Steeping.
11:12Yes, very nice. Steeping your tea.
11:16What else do we steep apart from tea, boys? No.
11:18What have we got? Steeping.
11:20We've still got steeping as well, that was our eight as well.
11:22Let's get back to it then, Sam, you're picking these.
11:24Can I have a compliment, please? Thank you, Sam.
11:26R. And another.
11:30X. And another.
11:31L. And another.
11:35N. And a vowel.
11:38U. And a vowel.
11:40A. Another.
11:44O. A vowel.
11:48E. And a consonant, please.
11:51Lastly, T. Right, let's play.
11:53A vowel.
12:22Alec.
12:23E.
12:24Sam? Five. Ibrahim? I have a five. Five, two. Let's get the points. Outer. And for you? Later.
12:31Later and outer and all straightforward, but I hope they demand something better.
12:36Oh, there he goes. Well, we have the sixth there of Outran, but we also have a seventh at neutral.
12:42Ah, excellent. Excellent stuff, as we are, when it comes to countdown, champion and challenger.
12:48Well done to you. Just ten points in it, funny enough. That's what's up for grabs right now, Ibrahim, and
12:54you're choosing.
12:54Could I please have two large and four small? You can indeed. The reverse of the four large, just two
12:59large, four little coming up.
13:01And the small ones, two, three, four and seven. And the big ones, 75 and 50. And the target, 882.
13:118, 8, 2. Numbers up.
13:438, 8, 2.
13:44Ibrahim? I have 8, 8, 1.
13:461 away, Sam? 8, 8, 6.
13:494 away. So, Ibrahim, here we go. This is going to pick you up a nice little seven points.
13:54I first did 7 plus 4. 7 plus 4, 11.
13:57Times that by 75. 8, 2, 5.
14:00Plus 50. 8, 7, 5.
14:043 times 2.
14:066.
14:07And then minus 8, 7, 5 from this... Sorry, minus 6 from the 8, 7, 5.
14:11What have you got written down?
14:12Oh, sorry, I had 8, 7, 5 plus 6.
14:14Yep, if you got it written down, that's absolutely fine for seven points.
14:17There you go.
14:17Panic over and breathe.
14:20It's always hard, those first couple of numbers, right?
14:22Like, you actually don't breathe for, like, a full minute and a half.
14:24It gets better, Sam, doesn't it? It gets better.
14:26Apparently not.
14:288, 8, 2, Rich.
14:298, 8, 2, one way.
14:3250 plus 75, 1, 2, 5.
14:354 minus 3 is 1 to add on.
14:381, 2, 6.
14:39And times it by 7, 8, 8, 2.
14:45Numbers working out well for a challenger.
14:47Just three points in it as we have our last chat of the week with Colin Jackson after yesterday.
14:51Expect the unexpected.
14:53What are we talking about today?
14:54Do you know what?
14:55Sometimes you've got to pinch yourself with life experiences.
14:59And, you know, I was an athlete and kind of sheltered.
15:02I kind of think I was very kind of sheltered in the world.
15:05But what was wonderful, once I retired, I realised I can go and experience other things.
15:10And I was invited down to Cannes with a launch of a new brand that we were going down to
15:16celebrate in Cannes.
15:17But the little add-on, because this was a Brazilian spirit that we were kind of going to have a
15:22little tipple and celebrate,
15:24they said the Brazilian team would be there.
15:26Football.
15:26So we were just giggling, going, yeah, sure, there's going to be Brazilian football players.
15:30So they put us in a bus when we reached Cannes.
15:32And we drove.
15:33We all put our kit on thinking this is going to be hilarious.
15:36We pull up.
15:37Who is warming up?
15:38Leonardo, Zico.
15:40All of them in the five-a-side pitch.
15:43And there we are, myself, swimmer Mark Foster, abs from five.
15:48We have no clue what we're doing.
15:50We haven't even spoken to each other, never mind playing football as a team.
15:53But what a great experience that was.
15:56Because all of a sudden, when you start to play with people of that level, your level goes sky high
16:02as well.
16:03It's interesting that, like, there's not many sports that you'd say you'd enjoy more in retirement.
16:08But I think that is the case with track and field.
16:10And do you ever sort of look back and wish you were in this era of the Diamond League and
16:15all these new ideas?
16:17And you were actually, you are in the spotlight a lot more.
16:21Whereas, I think going back to the 80s, 90s, and even into the noughties, when lottery funding was only just
16:26hitting,
16:26it was a lonely old experience for months and months on end.
16:29Yeah, I mean, on reflection now, there's certain elements of it which are fantastic today.
16:35But I think what I enjoyed about our era was the fact that we had a lot more freedom.
16:40And that freedom allowed us to do and get away with a lot more.
16:44Yeah, exactly.
16:46And I remember Seb Cole making exactly that point when I was interviewing him.
16:49And he said, you know what made my rivalry special with Steve Ovette?
16:53He said, we hardly ever raced each other.
16:55Yeah, great.
16:56That's when you really can't want to know this.
16:58He says, when people talk about, let's have the World Cup more often.
17:01No, no, no, every four years.
17:02Same with Olympics.
17:03Yeah.
17:03It's magic.
17:04Magic stuff.
17:05Just not very good at football, as I call it.
17:07Excellent.
17:08Thank you, mate.
17:09Cheers.
17:11Right.
17:12Well, both Sam and Ibrahim Sean Flair on today's show, three points in it.
17:16Back to those letters.
17:17Sam.
17:18Can I have a consonant, please?
17:19Thank you, Sam.
17:20R.
17:21And another.
17:22H.
17:23And another.
17:25C.
17:26And a vowel.
17:28O.
17:29And a vowel.
17:30A.
17:32A vowel.
17:34I.
17:36Consonant.
17:37R.
17:39Er, consonant.
17:40S.
17:42And a consonant, please.
17:45Lastly, T.
17:46And half a minute.
17:47Das стор may not have been published for Snowflake.
17:50Don't you?
17:59I.
18:15I.
18:16I.
18:16I.
18:17I.
18:17I.
18:17I.
18:18Sam?
18:19Six.
18:20Right, Ibrahim?
18:21Six.
18:21Glad you said that.
18:22I feel like we're missing something big here, but I don't know.
18:25Sam, what's the six?
18:26Chairs.
18:26And Ibrahim?
18:27Same.
18:28There you go.
18:29Yeah.
18:31Sixes are not a problem here.
18:33What else?
18:34Yeah, but we have a solid eight in chariots.
18:37See, I knew there was...
18:38Forget your chair, you can upgrade it to chariot!
18:42All right, still three points in it, and it's on you, Ibrahim, you're choosing these.
18:45Could I please have a vow?
18:47Thank you, Ibrahim.
18:48A.
18:49And another.
18:50E.
18:51And another.
18:52O.
18:53Consonant.
18:54F.
18:55And another.
18:57L.
18:58And another.
18:59M.
19:00And another.
19:02S.
19:03A vowel, please.
19:05E.
19:07A consonant.
19:08Lastly, T.
19:10And good luck.
19:11A vowel, please.
19:13A vowel, please.
19:15A vowel, please.
19:22A vowel, please.
19:26A vowel, please.
19:26A vowel, please.
19:27A vowel, please.
19:33A vowel, please.
19:36A vowel, please.
19:42Ibrahim. Six. And for you, Sam? I'll stick with a six as well.
19:45OK, what have you got there, Ibrahim? Floats. Yes, and for you, Sam? Flames.
19:49Yes, flames and floats and... No, it feels like we're just repeating the last rind.
19:52Sixes are not going to be a problem, so can you why me again?
19:55Yeah, I've got a seven. Molto's, which is some kind of... It's a sugar.
19:59Yes, formed when starch breaks down. Right, yeah.
20:02Yes. And we also have a term from chess, self-mate.
20:07And this is a problem when the idea is to force the opponent to deliver checkmate.
20:12Oh, OK, there you go, cos, what, you've got a boss to catch,
20:14or you don't like that, you just want to get home?
20:18Probably all our chess players will be nodding along, hopefully, to this one.
20:21Yeah, I've never heard self-mate. No, it's an interesting one.
20:23That's brilliant. Yes. Let's do the numbers again.
20:27So far, Sam's been trouble for you. Let's see what happens the third time round.
20:30Let's stick with four large, please.
20:32Sticking with four large, and let's find a good one.
20:35Hidden in here, the two small ones are eight and five,
20:40to go with the regular, 25, 50, 75 and 100.
20:44And this time, the target, 880.
20:47880. Numbers up.
20:492,000.
20:51One, two small ones.
21:02All the way you can direct it, you will probably be ruled by the other side.
21:09We will always be recalled, and you'll never know the number.
21:17Even if you'll learn more.
21:19Well, let's go with the video.
21:21880. Sam? 880. Yes. And Abraham? 880. Of course it is. Off you go, Sam.
21:26Eight times 100. 800. Add 75. Yep. Add 5. 880.
21:33What about you, Mr Raza? I had the same solution. Yeah. I believe you.
21:37Ten points each.
21:41Last Tea Town Teaser of the Week and very suitable for Countdown.
21:44Build one. Build one. Polly put the kettle on, but Suki took it off again.
21:49Polly put the kettle on, but Suki took it off again.
22:08Hello again. Yes, Polly put the kettle on, Suki took it off again because it was unboiled.
22:14It was unboiled. Right. 48, 45. Six rounds to go.
22:19We love a Friday afternoon nail-biter.
22:22So thanks to Sam and Ibrahim for this. And it's our challenger picking these letters.
22:25Could I please have a consonant? You can indeed.
22:28N. And another. P. And another.
22:33K. A vowel. A. And another. I. A consonant. C. And another. L. A vowel please. E. And another.
22:49Lastly, A. And kind time.
22:53A vowel. A combination.
23:09A vowel. It would all be eerie.
23:12A vowel. It truly takes time to pay.
23:16A vowel phrase. A vowel. It is a cervical pertinent.
23:17A В far run. It is
23:21a vowels. A vowel where word is a large 터 erwart.
23:21Do people drop off the Digital Kmb 4k?
23:21A vowel algorithm. A vowel Rate tool. A vowel and a vowel.
23:24All right, Ibrahim. Seven.
23:27Oh, and Sam. Six. Yes, last six is didn't see a seven.
23:30What is it? Place the fifth. And here we go.
23:33Pancake. Oh!
23:36Very good indeed. Pancake, yes.
23:40That had me in a pickle. It's only that much.
23:44What can we add to that? Well, another seven.
23:47Kaplan. A kaplan. Yes.
23:49A type of fish that resembles a smelt.
23:52Straightforward as that. I feel like any follow-up questions
23:56could lead to an elongated conversation.
23:58Fish, North Atlantic. That's all you need to know.
24:01That's it. That's all. Anyone needs to know about that.
24:04You're four points behind.
24:06We've handed out 100 points. It's a delight. Let's go again.
24:09Can I have a consonant, please? Thank you, Sam.
24:12R. And another. G. And a vowel.
24:17I. And a vowel. A. And a consonant.
24:21T. Another. N. Another. J. A vowel, please. E. And a vowel, please.
24:35Lastly, U. And 30 seconds.
24:38At once.
24:39At once.
24:53¶¶
25:09Sam Wilders? A seven.
25:11Ibrahim Raza? A seven.
25:12Sam? Ruin eight.
25:14Ibrahim? Granite.
25:15Yes. Granite, absolutely fine.
25:18There you go. Yep.
25:19So, 7.8.
25:21It's on a knife edge.
25:23Anything beyond the seven?
25:24There is an eight there as well. Jauntier.
25:26Yeah, jauntier for it. Jauntier too.
25:28There you go. No need for the ING there to get the longest word.
25:31Four rounds to go. Four points in it.
25:33Origins of words. Susie?
25:37Marina Taleforce from Warrington has been in touch
25:40to ask about the story behind The Apple of My Eye.
25:44Who's associated this with grandparents looking back at their grandchildren?
25:47They are The Apples of My Eye.
25:49And it is essentially someone who is really precious to you
25:53that you sort of shower with love and feel deep affection for.
25:56Above all others, pretty much, I think.
25:59And you will find it going all the way back to Old English.
26:02So, we know that King Alfred used it in a translation.
26:06And throughout medieval literature, you will find references to The Apple of One's Eye.
26:10But what is it?
26:11It's actually simply The Pupil, because in those days,
26:14The Pupil of the Eye was thought to be a solid, spherical object.
26:18It was thought to be, you know, really quite hard within The Eye.
26:23And so, to damage The Apple of One's Eye would be quite serious indeed,
26:28because obviously it would impair your vision.
26:30So, the kind of most carefully protected part of you, in a way,
26:34was this apple-shaped object inside your eye.
26:38I often talk about, I think, possibly my favourite etymology of all time,
26:41which is The Pupil itself, because it goes back to the Latin pupilla,
26:46which means a little doll,
26:47because when you look into the eyes of someone else,
26:49you see a tiny doll-like reflection of yourself.
26:52And you will find that in many other languages as well.
26:56In Spanish, The Little Girl of the Eye.
26:58It's a really, really beautiful thing.
27:00But The Apple of One's Eye, as I say,
27:03thought to be the most precious thing of all,
27:05because it gave you sight, and therefore it was used as a metaphor
27:08for something that was so precious, you could never be without it.
27:11Beautiful. Thank you very much.
27:17OK, right, a quick look at the scores.
27:20Four points in it.
27:21Ibrahim, our challenger, with a slight lead.
27:23This one looks like it's gone all the way,
27:26but that's the beauty of Countdown.
27:27You just never know.
27:29Ibrahim, one round at a time, one letter choice at a time.
27:32Could I please have a vowel?
27:33Thank you, Ibrahim.
27:35Eight.
27:35And another.
27:37E.
27:38And another.
27:39I.
27:40A consonant, please.
27:41D.
27:42And another.
27:43B.
27:44And another.
27:45L.
27:46Could I have a vowel, please?
27:48O.
27:49A consonant.
27:50S.
27:52And another.
27:53Lastly, C.
27:55All right, let's play.
28:26Number Ibrahim.
28:27Six.
28:28Number Sam.
28:28Let's try a seven.
28:29He's going to go for it.
28:30He's chosen this moment, but was it a good choice?
28:33Let's find out.
28:33Ibrahim, the sixth.
28:34Cozied.
28:35Sam.
28:36Baldies.
28:37Oi!
28:38How are you ready?
28:39They are in the dictionary.
28:40Yes.
28:43Baldies.
28:44Good fun spot for a seven, and is that it?
28:49Well, he didn't look far from that, does he?
28:51You look voluntarily shaved, though.
28:54Yeah, no, mine is shaved.
28:55Yeah, that's stylish.
28:56Well, you're not getting in the club, I'm sorry.
29:00But we do have an eight over here.
29:03Sociable.
29:03Sociable.
29:04Which we are.
29:05Yes, of course we are.
29:06Of course we are.
29:07So, the lead swings the other way.
29:08Just three points, though, to Sam.
29:11So, both of you, keep your hair on.
29:12Let's go again.
29:13Sam.
29:14Can I have a consonant, please?
29:16Thank you, Sam.
29:17L.
29:18Another.
29:19D.
29:21Another.
29:21T.
29:23Another.
29:24N.
29:26And a vowel.
29:27E.
29:28And a vowel.
29:29I.
29:30And a vowel.
29:32A.
29:33And a consonant, please.
29:36H.
29:37And a consonant.
29:40Lastly, M.
29:42Last letters.
29:44A consonant.
30:13Sound.
30:14Leslow, seven.
30:15Ibrahim? Six. Six is?
30:17Halted. Well, Baldi's didn't turn out to be that much of a risk.
30:21What about this one? Mantled.
30:23Oh, that's more of a risk.
30:25No, absolutely fine. Cloaked or enveloped, mantled in fog.
30:29Oh! And we have another seven.
30:31Ailment. Ailment.
30:33Right, it's now ten points in it.
30:36Are we going to have at least one crucial to finish the show?
30:39Let's just see what happens in the numbers first.
30:41Ibrahim, what are you going to do?
30:42Could I please have one large and five small?
30:44One large, five small, and you're banking on ten points here
30:48for that crucial.
30:49Let's see. Final one of the week.
30:51Five, one, six, ten, eight, and the big one, 100.
30:57And the target, 788.
31:00788. Numbers up.
31:32788.
31:33788. Ibrahim?
31:34788. Sam?
31:35788. Yes, this was never going to bother, even with the pressure.
31:39Ibrahim, off you go.
31:40I did eight times 100.
31:42800.
31:43800, minus six, minus one, minus five.
31:46That's the crucial conundrum.
31:49Booked.
31:49Yes, that's fine. Same way.
31:50Yeah, well done.
31:53So, listen, my friends, how many times do we start the show and we say,
31:57here we go, 15 rounds of letters and numbers?
32:00Once in a while, we threaten 16.
32:03That all depends on my friend and my right.
32:06If Ibrahim can get the conundrum, we will have to go again.
32:09If not, Sam is a winner once more.
32:12Fingers on the buzzers.
32:14Good luck to both of you.
32:15Let's reveal this Friday afternoon, crucial countdown conundrum.
32:51And no late guess.
32:53It's the other scenario where nobody gets it.
32:56We only need 15 rounds.
32:58Before we do anything, let's have a look and see what the right answer was.
33:04Accessing.
33:05Accessing.
33:06And the thing is, Sam and Ibrahim, we all saw the ING, didn't we?
33:09I even wrote down the other letters.
33:11And I felt the pressure too.
33:14Good stuff.
33:15Well, first of all, Sam, you must head into this weekend.
33:18Happy you're coming back on Monday, but feeling a little like you just got out of jail.
33:22Yeah.
33:23A few formidable people, so opposite me.
33:26I'll be sleeping well.
33:28You know when a team win the FA Cup, and there's always someone in the studio says,
33:33do you remember when they're in the fourth round, they only won in penalties?
33:37That might be this, when you become an OCTO champ.
33:39Well done, Sam.
33:39See you back here Monday.
33:41Yes.
33:42Ibrahim, what a delight you are to have in the studio.
33:44So polite the whole way through, and as Sam said, almost a champion.
33:48Thank you for being here.
33:48Thank you very much.
33:49Love it.
33:49Great stuff.
33:50Carl, love the banter when you're in.
33:52Really do.
33:52It's so much fun.
33:54The stories and the conversation.
33:55So hopefully we'll see you back again soon.
33:58Keep on skeleton bobbin'.
34:00Oh, God.
34:02Susie, please don't.
34:03I definitely will.
34:04No way.
34:04Excellent.
34:05Enjoy Mother's Day.
34:06Oh, thank you.
34:07Happy weekend to you.
34:07You too, Rich.
34:08Enjoy Mother's Day.
34:09I can't wait for my cup of lemon juice.
34:10Yes, there you go.
34:11Right.
34:12Whatever you're doing at the weekend, look after yourself.
34:14We're back on Monday.
