00:00Across France, there are thousands of glorious chateaux.
00:06Many have been forgotten and abandoned.
00:11OK!
00:12Now, they are being brought back to life by adventurous owners...
00:17I'm coming, Brian.
00:18You've got to be 50% mad and 50% brave.
00:22...who are taking on the ambitious challenge...
00:25This is going to take a while.
00:27..of restoring these timeless treasures...
00:30I think I'm going to have to make a big hole.
00:32I thought this would be a doddle. I've got no idea what I'm doing.
00:35..into incredible new homes...
00:38Wow! Goodness me!
00:41..and thriving businesses.
00:442022, direct from the chateau.
00:47There'll be triumphs...
00:50Woohoo! Look at that!
00:52..and setbacks.
00:53You never know, when you drill a hole around here,
00:56whether you're going to get something solid or not.
00:59..but however tough the going gets...
01:01It's at times like this, I wish I knew what I was doing.
01:04..those who make the move...
01:06Woohoo!
01:07..get to live like kings and queens in their very own castle.
01:16Today, a courtyard makeover proves tough going.
01:21Working up all those calories...
01:24..so I can drink more wine.
01:27These chatelins are desperate to close the door on a huge project.
01:32Well, this is going to take five minutes,
01:34and I think it's going to take about five hours.
01:36Yeah. The shadow's biting back.
01:39..and one pair's patience is pushed to the limits.
01:44I mean, we have been in this bathroom so long now
01:47that sometimes I will say to him,
01:49do we have to do this?
01:56Set among the lush hills of Normandy in northern France
02:02is the 18th-century Chateau de la Lacelle.
02:08With 25 characterful rooms and 21 acres,
02:14the derelict property had stood empty for four decades,
02:20before Middlesbrough couple Terry and Ashley
02:23decided to embark on a French Chateau adventure.
02:28The way of life, the people, it's just so completely different.
02:32It's such a beautiful place to live.
02:33And, to be honest, like, the way of life,
02:36it's sort of forced upon you.
02:38In, like, a good way.
02:39No, in an absolutely good way.
02:41We can take time off.
02:42Like, things close on the weekend here.
02:44Family time is so important in France.
02:46For me, it's like stepping back probably into the 50s and 60s
02:49and the way that families lived
02:50and the way that they all work together.
02:53Are you that old?
02:55LAUGHTER
02:58Just an hour's drive from Le Mans,
03:01Terry and Ashley bought the Chateau for £250,000 in 2020
03:08and began transforming it into a high-end holiday let's business.
03:18Accompanying them are Terry's mum, Tracy,
03:2212-year-old nephew, Jonathan,
03:24and das Hund, Patrick.
03:30Last time we saw them, it was all hands on deck
03:34with the two-bedroom 401 guest suite.
03:40Where an intricate mosaic floor gave Ashley the bathroom blues.
03:46So, I think that's going wrong because I'm not lining up.
03:51I'm going to have to take up all of the bigger square ones.
04:00Now, they have completed the floor
04:03and installed a new shower unit
04:06with a bespoke glass ceiling.
04:09But Terry's got one final trick up his sleeve.
04:15Today, I'm going to be in the bathroom
04:17creating some sort of four-panelling
04:20with some plasterboard, so that's going to be good.
04:23And you've roped me in to help you, Mum.
04:25Yep, so you're going to be with Mum
04:26and helping her putting the new curtains up in the blue bedroom.
04:30OK.
04:30Which will be a first for you.
04:33Don't mind the other stuff.
04:34I'm not good when it comes to the furnishings and stuff.
04:37No.
04:41Leaving Ashley to his woes,
04:43Terry cracks on with the decorative bathroom panels.
04:50I've never seen this actually done before.
04:52It was just an idea that I had just mainly for cost-saving.
04:55If we're doing it in wood,
04:56it's going to be about 60 to 80 euro per piece,
04:59where we can get a plasterboard 13mm thick for about 9 euro,
05:03and we can get three or four pieces
05:06out of one piece of plasterboard.
05:08And once it's all painted in,
05:10you'll never know if it's plasterboard, wood, whatever.
05:24Where we can be creative with stuff like this,
05:27then we like to sort of challenge ourself
05:29and push the boundaries with it.
05:34Well, I'm happy that we've got all of the chamfer on now
05:36and it's looking all nice and clean.
05:38So the next stage is just to get it upstairs and get it stuck on.
05:48Is that all in place?
05:49Looks good. I'm pleased with that.
05:51It's perfect.
05:55Just doing things so simple,
05:57it gives a fantastic look.
06:00And at a fraction of the cost as well.
06:02So, it's a win-win.
06:06To complete the panels,
06:08Terry's made some rosette mouldings,
06:11which complement his design ideas in the rest of the suite.
06:17The 401 suite, we've used quite a lot of inspiration from the Titanic
06:21because they had a lot of Louis XV, Louis XVI,
06:25sort of Edwardian and Regency-style rooms,
06:28and we're using different sort of aspects from them,
06:31from the ceiling mouldings to the wall decorations
06:34and even the paint colours as well,
06:36throughout each of the rooms.
06:40Yeah, well done.
06:41Yeah, got it finished, all in place.
06:43Hey, well done.
06:45What do you think?
06:46Looks good, well done.
06:47Yeah, final one in.
06:48Yeah.
06:49And we've got the last of the rosettes on as well on the panel.
06:52Oh, well done.
06:52They're all finished as well, so we can get them painted in.
06:55Get everything done.
06:56Mm-hmm.
06:56Happy days.
06:57It's another job done.
07:00But there's still the blue bedroom to complete,
07:03as well as grand plans for a new front door
07:06to welcome the suite's first guests.
07:16Perched on the banks of the River Lot in southwest France,
07:21stands the remarkable 14th-century Chateau de Céserac.
07:28Built on medieval foundations,
07:31it boasts two wings,
07:34a private chapel
07:36and a unique 1,000-year-old tower.
07:41After lying in ruin for 14 years,
07:45it's now being lovingly restored by British couple John and Carmen.
07:51I knew the minute I walked down the drive
07:53and saw the stone on the chapel
07:55that this was the place for us.
07:56Even though it was derelict and overgrown
07:59and hadn't been lived in for 15 years
08:01and had a fire,
08:02the place is amazing.
08:05All the hard work we have been doing is now paying off.
08:08I love you!
08:10I love you!
08:11We're bringing this place back to life.
08:18Located just over a two-hour drive from Bordeaux,
08:22John and Carmen snapped up the place in 2022
08:27for just £175,000,
08:31with plans to turn the property into a beautiful home for themselves
08:35and a boutique hotel.
08:39Ah, it's on my foot!
08:41So far, they've created a luxury guest bathroom,
08:46transformed a smoke-damaged kitchen
08:48into a stunning medieval dining room
08:51and completed work on a beautiful guest bedroom.
08:58Now, they're moving on to their next challenge.
09:02Been here for years with this dirty, scruffy old courtyard
09:05and today we're going to do a total revamp
09:08and it's going to look amazing.
09:10I hope so.
09:11This is about first impressions, isn't it?
09:13We're eventually going to have paying guests here, hopefully,
09:15and having a lovely drive and a lovely courtyard
09:19will make all of the difference.
09:22Let's get ranking!
09:25Having taken delivery of 20 tonnes of limestone, or calcaire,
09:31it now needs to be spread evenly.
09:36Oh!
09:39How thick does it need to be?
09:41Three to five centimetres is what we're looking for.
09:48This is hard work, isn't it?
09:50Yeah.
09:50Get the boys on this. Where are they?
09:52Yeah, I don't know where the boys are.
09:54Andrew, Steve!
09:57Answering the call of duty
09:58is son Andrew and his partner Steve.
10:03You see that?
10:04That's your pile over there.
10:06LAUGHTER
10:10I kind of feel like a cat in a little bit.
10:12LAUGHTER
10:15I love a bit of manual labour.
10:18It's good, isn't it?
10:20Working off all those calories.
10:23So I can drink more wine.
10:30Yeah!
10:33I've got blisters already.
10:35But there's no respite,
10:37as another 20 tonnes of limestone
10:40has just arrived.
10:43Whoa!
10:45What do you think, half a load here?
10:47Yeah, and then drag it across.
10:49I want some over in that corner.
10:55That was fantastic,
10:56the way that guy just dumped the whole lot of the drive.
10:59It's saved us so much work.
11:03My concern is that we won't have enough in the courtyard.
11:07And I did say that to John,
11:08but he assures me that there'll be enough in the courtyard.
11:11So, fingers crossed, John will be ripe for once.
11:16But with 20 tonnes of gravel still to shift,
11:21steps to lay, and the tricky job of compacting it all with a roller,
11:26John and Carmen have a lot of hard labour ahead.
11:34Coming up, a jeet renovation is caught short.
11:38The measurements aren't quite right because the frame is bigger than the picture.
11:42Yes.
11:42So I've measured the picture, but not the frame.
11:46And confusion reigns for Ashley.
11:48Tracy, I don't understand what's happening here.
11:51I don't understand what I'm actually doing.
11:59In the stunning Occitanie region in southwest France,
12:04is the 19th century Chateau de Picon.
12:10Sitting in six and a half acres,
12:13it boasts 31 rooms,
12:18several outbuildings,
12:21and its own private lake.
12:24In 2024,
12:26it became home to intellectual property manager Jane,
12:30her husband Rory, a plumber and actor,
12:33and their entourage of furry friends.
12:37They do say that you look like your dogs.
12:40Is that what they say?
12:42I never really thought that one day I'll be living in a chateau.
12:46It wasn't on my checklist of things to do.
12:50I think it's the Goldilocks choice for us.
12:53It's not too big, it's not too small, it's got enough land.
12:56We felt it was within our skill set and our capacity and our budget, frankly,
13:02to be able to bring it back to its former glory.
13:07Just an hour and a half's drive from Toulouse,
13:11the couple bought the property for £470,000
13:17and hoped to run it as a hospitality and events business.
13:21The last time we saw them.
13:24Three down, almost half way.
13:26Oh, it looks absolutely beautiful.
13:29They were renovating a suite in the Chateau Gite,
13:33comprised of a bedroom, dressing room and a secret bathroom,
13:38where Jane's DIY efforts fell short.
13:42It seems to be holding.
13:45Oh!
13:45Oh!
13:47OK.
13:49So it wasn't stuck.
13:53A month later, the suite's progressed, but they've now got just a few days to finish it,
14:00as Rory's sister is arriving for a trial stay before they open to the public.
14:07Today, I'm going to be working on framing a couple of pictures in situ, which will be interesting.
14:15And I will be climbing a ladder or scaffolding to put up the curtain rails so we can hang the
14:20curtains and the blinds.
14:21I think we'll be so happy to get this done and then we'll want to shut the door and never
14:27ever go back in there.
14:33I'll try not to destroy the brand new chandelier.
14:36I think I got away with it.
14:43I'm going to be making two frames out of some mouldings.
14:46And first of all, I just need to spray the mouldings.
14:50It's like an antique gold colour.
15:00There we go.
15:03OK.
15:04So, nearly the moment of truth.
15:07Right.
15:14There.
15:15I've come out the way.
15:18What do you think?
15:20Curtains are absolutely beautiful.
15:21I think the colours work really well.
15:26I think the curtains are just a touch off the ground.
15:31For perfection, I think they should be a little bit lower.
15:34We can fall off that bridge when we come to it.
15:36Yeah.
15:38With the dressing room curtains up, for now at least, they move on to the artwork in the bedroom.
15:46Here you go, my lover.
15:51So you can see there's like a white edge.
15:54Come down, come down.
15:55See how far you come down.
15:56Now I can see white.
15:58Oh, right.
16:00the measurements aren't quite right because the frame is bigger than the picture yes i've measured
16:05the picture but not the frame okay so that's why it's wrong is this apologies a boo-boo it's a
16:13tiny
16:14boo-boo but in my defense i bought spares in case of boo-boos so we're fine
16:33i think it's upside down cheeky i think it looks nice i think it does look nice and i think
16:42it looks
16:42great in this room the colors are brilliant and i think we've done we've done a good job
16:46yeah really happy it looks really nice
16:52next they'll need to get the bathroom painted and finished in time for the grand opening for rory's
17:00sister down in southwest france well i'm getting warm john and carmen along with son andrew and
17:13his partner steve are busy refreshing their tired looking courtyard
17:18do you know what john you were right what it's spot on this yeah too much and carmen's quantity
17:30concerns were unfounded of course i wish i was right
17:38but i'm glad that he's right and i'm wrong for once
17:47oh i'd forgotten in front of the doors we're putting slabs
18:02just putting in some flagstone just take the dirt off your shoes as you go in just make a bit
18:07of a
18:07step as you climb up into the house it's heavy isn't it just makes it nice and tidy as well
18:12go to this way a bit
18:18oh nice nice
18:23very nice but with three more doors leading out to the courtyard their work isn't over
18:31oh two more to do then
18:35teamwork is awesome it makes such a difference when we get people to help us because obviously
18:39we're doing it twice as quick it's just the two of us so to us it's fab to have the
18:44family down
18:44they're young anyway they can put their back into it yeah just like that
18:51these little finishing touches do wonders
18:55there we go awesome steps done
18:59all aboard we'll have some weight there's one last team effort to level as much of the limestone gravel
19:06as they can i don't want to fall off
19:12we're nearly ready for the roller now
19:14i'm over the moon it's amazing it's really good job the amount of coke hair we've shifted today is
19:20incredible tomorrow we'll roll it and just compact it all and get it smooth and looking good and i
19:26think it'll look really lovely then easy job then but for john and carmen learning to drive a roller
19:32may not go as smoothly as they hope
19:44over at chateau de la lasalle ashley's out of his diy comfort zone attempting to help tracy hang some
19:53handmade curtains in the new suite's blue bedroom what we're doing with these all i need to do is
20:01get these hooks in yep we'll pull the tape through and then we'll go and get them up
20:10and just keep hold of them and then i'll pull this in keep hold of them yeah
20:18tracy i don't understand what's happening here what i don't understand what i'm actually doing
20:22so where it's all gathered there pull it down to there
20:28i'm trying but mine just keeps disappearing so we won't gather but not too much they need to adjust
20:36the curtains to fit and hang in even pleats by pulling on the header tape strings
20:43you didn't tie a very good knot i didn't tie him in the end no wonder they weren't gathering lordy
20:50lordy
20:51i hope you're better at hanging them we'll soon find out yes
21:07just the hooks in them yes holes yes and you're trusting me to do this yeah
21:21yeah so i think i've got them all in this is your first one
21:35we need to fix the sides on well this was really just to make sure that the size and
21:41everything was okay so they're good happy days
21:47but further work on the guest suite will have to wait because there's a chateau-sized job for
21:55terry and ashley to tackle next
22:01we're finally getting the first of our two front doors fitted yes this has been a
22:06a job on the list since we've got it really so our carpenter is made as an exact replica of
22:14the original front door yep so hopefully we won't have the winds blown through the
22:18chateau in the tower anymore
22:26lean it down and i'll take it out
22:35so the next job that we're on with is just getting all of these tiles out on this first drawer
22:40just so we can actually drop the frame down and we've got like a flush finish it's just a difficult
22:47job now of trying to get these up and not breaking any of the ones
22:56that's better in it yeah
23:02these are so tough they are difficult unbelievably difficult and tough as well as you can see how
23:09thick the tile is alone and then the adhesive that they've used is just pure concrete really
23:20well this is going to take five minutes and i think it's going to take about five hours
23:24yeah the shadow's biting back you'll have to get a move on as there is still a lot to do
23:31upstairs before the grand opening of the 401 suite
23:39still to come rory's taking a gamble in the bathroom
23:45well my cunning plan is to make a cut here and here so you can wiggle it like one of
23:53those toy
23:53wooden snakes and carmen's on a crash course well certainly all right just careful just go
24:00gently with it it's a big thing and it can do a lot of damage
24:10back in southwest france jane and rory are working around the clock to get a suite in their jeet complete
24:20in just a few days time rory's sister will be arriving for a stay and will be their very first
24:28guest
24:32we're going to do some extra bits and pieces in the bathroom today a bit of painting i've got a
24:38little bit of skirting to finish off in there it'd be nice to by the end of today feel like
24:43that room is
24:54almost finished
24:55try this one on for size
24:59hey
25:03oh it goes under well it doesn't i know go under mostly but it doesn't quite
25:07go in all the way the boxing that i did for the pipe work for the tap is a few
25:13millimeters longer
25:14than i want it to be for the skirting and that's probably because um the floor is a bit uneven
25:22okay that tile is the culprit i'll go and get my multi-tool and just trim a bit off this
25:29i think
25:38yeah pretty much yeah brilliant but the uneven floor is causing the skirting to sit a little too high
25:49well my cunning plan is
25:52to make a cut here and here and here and here and here and turn that a small section into
26:01a concertina
26:02and then i'll be able to bend it down and then straighten it back out again in which case all
26:07we'll have to do is add some filler to the cuts okay smooth them out and then the whole skirting
26:13just
26:13bend down and into place right it's an unorthodox solution but rory's keeping the faith just going to
26:20make three cuts two from the top and one from the bottom
26:34well i'll go and try it right
26:42so that's in there and now if i
26:46i think i need another cut to get it further down i'll try two more cuts so you can wiggle
26:52it like
26:52one of those toy wooden snakes
26:57he does really take a pride in joints being well finished
27:06i mean we have been in this bathroom so long now that sometimes i will say to him do we
27:12have to do this
27:15i've never thought of myself as a perfectionist but i find myself increasingly thinking if i can do it
27:20exactly right and it doesn't take hours and hours then i think it's worth worth trying at least
27:31it's a proper concertina now oh yeah well done
27:42so i've put all the spaces in now so all i've got to do is put some filler in along
27:47the cracks then once
27:49that's dried pull the spaces out uh finish filling it up and then it's ready to be painted
27:54with rory's madcap solution a success and the bathroom nearly ready they still need to tidy and
28:03dress the whole suite before rory's sister arrives
28:13just 90 miles north with all the limestone down in the courtyard john and carmen now need to compact
28:23it can't wait to have a go on this roller job they've hired a roller for the day and carmen
28:31is going to be learning on the job of course i haven't driven a roller before
28:38i'm very nervous about carmen on the roller it's a big thing and it can do a lot of damage
28:43okay where's the brake there is no break what do you mean there's no break there's no break
28:47how can it be no break it'll slow itself down how do i stop it right
28:51key on yeah okay and now you can start it okay i'm a bit worried if there's no break right
28:58this will
28:58drive us forward right how do i start we'll just put it back into neutral or back or reverse so
29:08to
29:09drive it i just push it forward yeah let's try it back well certainly all right just careful
29:13just go gently with it and there's the hall
29:24crash course complete oh it's the the steering's a bit odd carmen gets down to business
29:34i'm coming for you so far so good she's doing all right but she's going towards the house at the
29:41moment
29:53okay don't go too fast
29:57that was a bit scary what are you doing crazy woman instead of into neutral i went into reverse
30:04yes that's good though it's definitely compacting it yeah yeah yeah awesome should i carry on or do
30:09you want to go i'll have a go i haven't had to go yet all right then that was great
30:14i loved it
30:15it's a bit scary though when you get to the edge when you know you've got to stop
30:32look what he's done he's gone into it you're moaning about my driving you went into it twice
30:40i mean he's taken it too far but john is undeterred and with the roller ring complete
30:50all is forgiven great job great job look at that what a difference it makes unbelievable
30:58now the couple need to add planting and furniture ready for a celebratory courtyard tea party tomorrow
31:16in normandy in northern france terry and ashley have enlisted the help of master joiner paddy
31:24to put a frame in for the new chateau d'or are you ready yeah let's drop that in
31:34it's a little bit more off there and then it'll be able to come in it's just it's what's it
31:39like
31:39there the margins i can't see no it's not lining up
31:47we've got to try and get this new frame sat as close to these coins as we can
31:52because over the years the coins have all shifted and moved
31:56and it only takes literally two or three millimeters for it not to work the coins or
32:04cornerstones are proving problematic but terry is not going to be beaten
32:12i can take a bit off there it's catching that tile and it's catching there if i take a bit
32:17off that
32:18okay that might be it
32:21so central ish yeah there there there you go hey let's pop a level on that first
32:38perfect look at that it fits it's brilliant it's good
32:45they secure the frame with quick drying cement
32:53right we just leave that for five minutes get that to go off and then we can pack it bring
32:59the
32:59frame in true
33:02job done and then the door fit fantastic
33:07well this is the original chateau door and it is about 200 years old and it's beautiful the
33:13workmanship and the craftsmanship that's actually gone into it it's just a little bit beyond repair
33:18we can't restore it so it's a case of now having paddy replicate them as closely can which he's done
33:24an
33:24amazing job of
33:28this has to be made to fit the old iron work to fit a 200 year old lock um everything
33:34has to be made
33:35custom so it all has to be done by hand
33:42right if you drop your side down tilt right if we come this way
33:52do you want to do the bottom hinge ash yeah right fingers yeah
34:02in keeping with the period of the chateau terry's even managed to source a pair of louis
34:09can style rimlocks from paris
34:15no i like that they definitely want some oil in there though yeah yeah yeah these came with no
34:20keys so terry had to fabricate a key and he's done that
34:27finally they add a bespoke double glazed window not heavy at all that all right yeah perfect
34:37we have a beautiful door yeah no drafts no gaps and it's double glazed yeah it's fantastic
34:47so we're happy yeah on to the next one the front door is complete
34:53but they still have a lot of work to do upstairs in the 401 suite before their first guests arrive
35:05coming up john and carmen race to the finish line try not to spill any because we haven't got time
35:12to
35:12clear up while jane and rory nervously await a vip she's seen the chateau at its worst yeah and so
35:20now she's coming she'll start to see it looking a bit better than it was last i think so
35:32back in southwest france with their courtyard renovation complete what a glorious day wow

35:54cake afternoon tea and cake yeah french and english friends and we need to make this really look good
35:58yeah because they haven't seen it yet so um i hope they're going to be pleasantly surprised
36:05try not to spill any because we haven't got time to clear up so this pot's lovely isn't it yeah
36:10it's a nice antique pot that yeah oh i'll water this if you go and do a bit more raking
36:17yeah no problem
36:21cool yeah i was looking million dollars now yes well she's had million euros really
36:27getting a bit nervous now last minute nerves
36:37well done yes
36:43just a few days ago john and carmen's tired looking courtyard was overgrown with weeds and in
36:52desperate need of some tlc
37:00now it has been transformed into a bright clean space that offers all guests
37:07a chance to relax in beautiful tranquility
37:12the 60 tons of crisp new limestone adds a smart fresh touch while flagstone steps mark each doorway
37:24and decorative planting brings a pop of color to welcome every visitor
37:31it's just brought it alive hasn't it it has i mean it did take a lot of work i'm not
37:35going to say that it
37:36it didn't there was a lot of shoveling going on there was um but it has made a huge difference
37:41difference and it just looks much nicer and neater and tidier now
37:49bonjour
37:50bonjour
37:51bonjour
37:51what a beautiful day
37:53here to celebrate john and carmen's achievement are a few local friends
38:00come this way
38:03new courtyard
38:04wow
38:07this was just dirt
38:10the courtyard for me was very clean very clear and goes very well with the castle it's perfect
38:18should we have some tea yes please if you'd like to sit down we'll bring the cakes out yeah
38:37i'm gonna go for one of these i should let everyone else choose really no you're the queen of the
38:42castle
38:42girl you go first the courtyard brought the whole place back to life and it looks like the the the
38:50house
38:50is loved again it makes it worse it doesn't it when you get friends around and they see it and
38:55they
38:55like it and uh it just just looks great now i really feel now we're moving on with the renovation
39:02it just feels like we're actually getting somewhere and that we're one step closer to actually you know
39:08finishing the chateau and opening up for people to come and stay you don't hang about should see
39:13what we did yesterday john and carmen are well on their way but with plenty of spaces still to
39:20transform there's a long road ahead
39:30over at chateau de piquon
39:35work has been non-stop in the jeet's new suite hopefully that's okay we were working quite late
39:43last night but we didn't get it all done and my sister's nearly here so we're desperate to get it
39:49done before she arrives well i've certainly packed it well
40:00yeah there we go my sister was with us the day we moved in she helped us move in so
40:06she's seen
40:06the chateau at its worst yeah and so now she's coming she'll start to see it
40:11looking a bit better than it was last time i think so
40:20three months ago the first floor of this sheet was a collection of abandoned and unloved rooms
40:33now rory and jane have lovingly created a stunning guest suite
40:40with a bright luxurious bedroom and spacious dressing room next door complete with a chateau
40:48style chandelier and opulent wall mural it's really nice to achieve something after months of hard work
40:58i can hardly believe it i'll be wandering around later today and rory will wonder where i am and i'll
41:03just be in there i'll know exactly where you are you'll just be in there having a stare having a
41:09look
41:10but the pièce de résistance is the secret bathroom next door once a dingy space with dark wood panelling
41:23it has been transformed into a calm elegant oasis
41:30with stunning restored woodwork and beautiful blue tones throughout
41:37i mean the bathroom has been a gigantic task isn't it it was just so much more work than we
41:44ever
41:44imagined it would be we had to redo the floor redo the walls redo the ceiling underneath it's just
41:50everything has taken so much effort and to be here now it's just i just want to sit down have
41:56a cocktail and
41:57just look at it and enjoy it for a while last but not least rory has cleverly restored the jeep's
42:05broken
42:06staircase in time for their first visitor
42:13here to see the newly transformed suite is rory's sister vanessa
42:22dun dun dun dun wow this looks amazing different from when you first saw it oh god yeah look at
42:33the wall
42:35that's brilliant it just feels like a different space
42:43oh wow this is just gorgeous
42:49i love the collars i love how you picked out the collars in the room to match with it looks
42:56really really
43:04good
43:05this is beautiful
43:07i can't believe
43:09it's the same bathroom that bathtub oh i want to get in it now
43:14well we'll give you some privacy shall we
43:18i am really proud of the pair of them especially my little brother i didn't think he would could have
43:24this in him i can't wait to use the suite tonight it's amazing they've finished it just for me and
43:31i get to have a lovely long hot soak in the bath
43:37i think my sister absolutely loved it uh i could tell by her face that she uh there was genuine
43:42or looking around so we're really pleased yes she was definitely impressed
43:48completing the jeep's suite shows what we can do
43:52shows the style we're going for and then from there we've just got to do more of the same or
43:58more to
43:59the same standard having worked wonders upstairs jane and rory now need to renovate the ground floor
44:06in time to welcome paying guests to their jeet this summer
44:13next time one couple's renovation job hits the buffers oh the mirror just moved oh wow
44:21oh you're not supposed to do that this pair take on a mammoth chateau entrance project
44:27we've dreamt about the terrace for a good few years and things between terry and tracy
44:33are far from picture perfect whichever way you put it up terry i don't like
44:38it's you can put it here that's better
44:57so
