00:00Justice is supposed to be a shield, but for Rosa, it was a trap.
00:04In 2009, the world believed Jeffrey Epstein was finally paying for his crimes under house arrest in Florida.
00:12But behind closed doors, the nightmare was only beginning.
00:16It started in 2008.
00:18Rosa was just 18, living in Uzbekistan, when she was approached by modeling agent John Luke Brunel.
00:25He promised her a career beyond her wildest dreams.
00:29Coming from a financially unstable background, Rosa was the perfect target for coercion.
00:35By July 2009, she was in West Palm Beach.
00:39Epstein offered her a role at his Florida Science Foundation to help with her debts.
00:44It was a sinister front.
00:45This was during his work release arrangement, a deal that allowed him to leave custody for 16 hours a day,
00:52six days a week.
00:54The trap snapped shut when a masseuse called Rosa into Epstein's room.
00:58That was the first time he molested her.
01:00For the next three years, while the law supposedly had him under watch, Rosa says she was subjected to ongoing
01:07rape.
01:08The system didn't stop him.
01:10It gave him a sanctuary.
01:12In a recent field hearing, Rosa finally told her story to U.S. lawmakers.
01:16She described how that 2008 plea deal enabled Epstein to continue his abuse for another decade.
01:23Democratic oversight members now say the justice system didn't just fail the victims, it protected the predator.
01:29But the betrayal didn't end with Epstein's death.
01:32The Department of Justice accidentally published Rosa's name in the Epstein files, while the names of the rich and powerful
01:40remained hidden behind redactions.
01:42A technical error that forced a survivor to live in constant fear.
01:46As fellow survivor Maria Farmer told lawmakers, the government needs to start telling the truth.
01:52Because for those who survived Epstein's house arrest, justice didn't just move slowly, it looked the other way.
