00:00I don't think he really is expecting any major change on U.S. policy towards Taiwan.
00:06Obviously he wants to change the narrative a little bit, but he's playing a longer game.
00:10And as you can see from President Trump's remarks, it doesn't seem to be something that he's really particularly interested
00:16in pushing too hard either.
00:18And I don't think that Taiwan is really the main item actually on the table for either of them.
00:24If you look at what Donald Trump is going, you know, the position that he is in going in, he
00:28needs a win.
00:30It's much more likely to be an economic sort of trade win that he's looking for, at least certainly not
00:35a deterioration or an escalation.
00:37I think a sort of stabilization of the relationship is the key element here.
00:42I think the question on Tehran is clearly going to come up.
00:45Trump is in a bind. He may not say that, but it's very clear that he wants to exit himself
00:50from that conflict as soon as he can.
00:53China may be able to play a positive role in this because of the influence that it has with Tehran.
00:59But at the same time, its influence is also relatively limited.
01:02So it seems to me that probably what we'll see is an attempt to maybe settle things, but also buy
01:09time.
