Three Terrifying Stranger Encounters
Story 1: The Delivery Driver and the Stalker (Late Night Delivery)
A sandwich shop delivery driver is making a late-night run around 11 p.m. At an empty intersection, the red light takes abnormally long to change. A black car with heavily tinted windows pulls up beside him. The driver feels uneasy but continues. After the light turns green, the black car doesn't move.
He arrives at the delivery address—a street of about ten nice-looking houses, but every single one is completely dark. The house he's delivering to has no lights either. He knocks, and the door swings open slightly, as if unlocked. Inside, there is no furniture, no decorations—just dust. The house appears empty and abandoned.
As he walks back to his car, he notices the black car now parked a few houses down. Then, through his car window, he sees something blocking the back seat. He realizes someone is hiding inside his car. He bolts back toward the house. A man in a black hoodie and pants jumps out of the back seat and runs to the black car, which speeds away.
Police arrive and tell him the entire street is unoccupied—the homes are new builds not yet sold. They also reveal that multiple similar reports have come in recently: someone orders delivery with a fake name and address, then follows the driver. The man had snuck inside the delivery driver's car and was waiting for him to get back in. The suspect was never found.
Story 2: The House Sitter and the Uninvited Guest (December)
A young man agrees to house-sit for a close friend's family while they're away for a week. He has done this before and is comfortable staying there. Around 6 p.m., after settling in, he goes out for dinner and returns to watch TV.
Around 6:30, a man in his 30s knocks on the door. He asks if the homeowner is there, calling him by name. The house sitter says he'll have to come back another time. The man leaves without another word. The sitter texts his friend, who says he has no idea who that man is.
Around 9 p.m., the same man knocks again. This time, the sitter does not open the door and yells through it for him to come back another day. The man stares at the door, thinks for a moment, then walks away again. The sitter locks the door but does not call the police, not wanting to overreact.
Later, after showering and turning off the lights, he does one last check of the windows. When he looks at the front door, he notices the lock is sideways—it is unlocked. He knows he locked it. He goes to grab his phone from the end table, but it is gone. Someone has already taken it.
He grabs his keys and runs out the front door, then calls 911 from his car. Police search the house and find the same man sitting in a spare bedroom. He is arrested silently, with a forged key to the front door in his pocket. The friend still claims not to know the man, but the two have barely spoken since.

00:00I was on my way to deliver an order from the sandwich shop I worked for.
00:03It was a quiet night, around 11 or so.
00:05I had my music playing in my car, and I was just running through the motions of the delivery.
00:10On my way to their neighborhood, I pulled up to a red light.
00:13There was nobody else at the intersection, but for some reason,
00:16the light stayed red for what felt like an abnormal amount of time.
00:19As I sat there and stared at the light, waiting for it to change, a car pulled up beside me.
00:24I only glanced over for a second, not wanting to make that awkward eye contact,
00:27but their windows were heavily tinted, like definitely more than what was legal,
00:31as I couldn't see a single thing through them.
00:33The car itself was black as well, maybe an old Toyota or something.
00:38I can't really pinpoint what it was, but I got a really uneasy feeling about them.
00:42It could have just been that we were the only two on the road, I'm really not sure.
00:47Eventually the light turned green, and I started going.
00:49I didn't get very far though, before noticing they hadn't moved.
00:53They were still parked at the intersection.
00:55Once I got further down the road, I shrugged it off, and just thought it was weird, and nothing else.
01:01A couple minutes later, I pulled off into the section of housing that the delivery was in.
01:05I'd say neighborhood, but it wasn't really a neighborhood.
01:07It was just a line of ten or so houses, leading to a dead end.
01:11Something about it seemed really off-putting.
01:14Of all the houses on the street, not a single one had a light on.
01:17I 100% would have thought these places were abandoned,
01:20if not for the fact that the houses themselves looked really nice.
01:23They looked like ordinary neighborhood homes, with not a single sign of anything wrong with them.
01:28I figured it had to just be a coincidence that every resident down the street had their lights off.
01:34Anyway, the address I had was for the second-to-last house.
01:37I pulled up and parked on the curb, getting out with the order, and walking up to the door.
01:42I was hoping I'd at least see some sort of light coming through the windows of this house,
01:46because it was the one I was delivering to,
01:48but standing on the porch, I didn't see any light.
01:51Reluctantly, I knocked on the door.
01:54When I did, the door swung a bit from its hinges, like it wasn't properly shut or locked.
02:00Now this was even more odd.
02:03Sandwich delivery?
02:04Anyone home?
02:06It was completely silent.
02:08No response, and not even the slightest sound from inside the house.
02:12I was gonna leave, but just to be sure I didn't miss anything, I cracked the door open a little
02:16further.
02:18I could see a hallway and a room.
02:21Both were empty of any furniture or decorations, not even a single picture on the wall.
02:26It only took a few seconds before dust started coming through the doorway, too.
02:30I shut it and backed up from the porch.
02:33I was very confused and slightly worried.
02:36As I walked back down to my car, though, I noticed something down the road.
02:40A few houses back, there was a small black car that wasn't there when I pulled in.
02:45Its headlights were off, and it was parked.
02:48Once I saw the tinted windows, I immediately recognized it.
02:51I felt my face go white, knowing this could not possibly be a coincidence at this point.
02:56I started to hurry to my car, but as I got just a few feet away from the road,
03:00I saw something move in the reflection of one of the windows.
03:03I wasn't sure what it was that I saw, but I stopped in place.
03:07I was standing near the passenger door, and through the window, my eyes fell on the back seat.
03:12It was dark, but there was something blocking the back window.
03:16It only took me about a second for me to realize what I saw.
03:19I turned and bolted back to the house.
03:21As I did, the back door to my car swung open, and a man in a black hoodie and black
03:26pants came running out.
03:28He didn't chase me, though.
03:29He ran straight down to the road and into his car.
03:32I stayed on the porch, and with my heart pounding, I dialed 911.
03:37I probably could have gotten in my car and left at that point, but I was too scared to really
03:41think straight.
03:42Police arrived and immediately told me that this whole street was unoccupied, as the homes were new builds.
03:48Guess that explains why I thought they looked so nice, and not abandoned.
03:52What I definitely didn't expect was to hear them say that they've had multiple reports this past week, very similar
03:57to mine.
03:58The guy would order something for delivery, with a fake name and address, then follow the driver.
04:03What happened to me was the closest call of any of them, though.
04:06The guy had snuck inside my car, and was waiting for me to get in, and maybe even drive away.
04:11Who knows what he was trying to do.
04:13Unfortunately, there haven't been any updates on finding him.
04:17This was last year, toward the beginning of December.
04:20One of my good friends was going on a trip with his family, and would be gone for a whole
04:23week.
04:24He asked if I wanted to house-sit his place while they were gone.
04:27We were really good family friends, so this wasn't all that unusual.
04:31I actually did the same thing for them last year, as well.
04:34They had a couple fish tanks, and a lot of houseplants, that they needed me to take care of while
04:38they were away,
04:38and in return, I'd get to stay at their house for a week.
04:41I lived in a really small apartment, so I was always glad to take them up on the offer, and
04:45help out.
04:47I headed over a couple hours before they left, just to hang out and get a refresher on everything that
04:51I needed to do.
04:52Once they left, I unpacked some things and got settled in, and around 6, I went out to pick up
04:57some dinner.
04:58I brought it back to the house, and ate in the living room while watching TV.
05:02Only a half hour later, there was a knock at the door.
05:06I paused the show, and got up, looking to see who it was.
05:09It was a man in his 30s.
05:11He wasn't wearing a delivery uniform or anything.
05:13He just looked like a regular dude.
05:15I cracked the door open, and asked what he needed.
05:18He looked startled to see me, but quickly recovered, and asked if my friend was home right now.
05:23He called him by his name, so I thought he might have been a friend or something,
05:26but I told him he'd have to come back some other time.
05:28He didn't ask anything else, and just walked away.
05:31I probably should have asked what he needed, but I felt like he should have told me to begin with.
05:36I was sure it was nothing, but I texted my friend just to let him know who came by.
05:40He called me soon after, and asked who he was, and after a brief conversation,
05:43he said he had no idea who that guy could have been.
05:47I kept an eye out for the rest of the day, but still felt like it was probably nothing serious.
05:52I watched TV for a while, then went around the house watering the plants and feeding the fish.
05:57Around 9, I started getting the couch set up for bed.
06:00I tossed a few blankets down and made a little sleeping area.
06:03As I did, there was another knock at the door.
06:07I walked over, more confused than anything, but was immediately unnerved to see the same guy outside the door.
06:13This time, I didn't open it.
06:16Hey, what do you need? Can you come back a different day?
06:18I yelled through the door.
06:20I watched as the man listened and stared at the door like he was thinking,
06:24but instead of responding, he just walked away again.
06:27I made sure the door was locked before going back to the couch.
06:30It was then that I definitely should have called the police, but for some reason, I really didn't want to.
06:36Especially being at someone else's house, I was worried that this was all just a misunderstanding.
06:40Not to mention, the guy hadn't actually done anything yet.
06:43I would just have to explain that he came by twice and stood at the door.
06:46It kind of sounds silly, honestly.
06:49It definitely woke me up, though, and I didn't feel comfortable going to bed right away.
06:53I stayed up on my phone and had the window curtains open so I could see if he walked up
06:57again.
06:57I probably waited for a good two hours before my eyes started getting heavy.
07:02I did one last check out the windows before closing the curtains and getting ready for bed.
07:07I brushed my teeth, then hopped in the shower to quickly rinse off.
07:10By the time I got out, dried off, and went back downstairs, it had been less than ten minutes.
07:15I went around and turned off all the lights, and before getting in bed,
07:19I figured I'd do one last check out the windows, just to help me sleep easy.
07:22I looked out, seeing nothing but trees swaying in the wind and the empty road in front of the house.
07:28I stepped back, and as I went back over to the couch, my eyes drifted toward the front door, catching
07:33something off.
07:35The lock was sideways.
07:37I walked over, thinking I was seeing things wrong, but no, it was unlocked.
07:42I was completely certain I'd locked it, not even a doubt in my mind.
07:46I froze up for a second, before I felt adrenaline surge through me.
07:50I turned around and crept over to the couch to grab my phone that I'd left on the end table,
07:55but it wasn't there.
07:56Someone had already taken it.
07:58I didn't stay a second longer, grabbing my keys and running out the front door.
08:02I used the emergency button in my car to call 911 as I pulled out of the driveway and parked
08:07further down the road to wait.
08:10When police pulled up and searched the home, they found the man, same one that came by twice,
08:15sitting in one of the spare bedrooms.
08:17When they arrested him, he didn't say a word, like he was completely mute.
08:21They found a forged key in his pocket that matched the front door, and nobody knows how he got it.
08:27My friend told me again that he had no clue who the man was, or why he'd break into his
08:32home,
08:32but it honestly felt like there was something he wasn't telling me.
08:36Suspiciously, we haven't talked much after that either.
08:40I don't know what was going to happen that night.
08:42If I didn't notice the door was unlocked and went to bed, I really don't think I would have woken
08:47up.
08:47It was a normal night after work, getting home at ten.
08:50I was exhausted, but ready to stay up late and game.
08:54All my buddies worked early tomorrow, so I was just playing solo and relaxing.
08:59A few hours into the night, I heard what sounded like a knock.
09:02I took my headphones off and listened for it again, but it was quiet now.
09:07I thought surely it had to be a knock at the front door, as it was pretty loud and I
09:11didn't know what else it could be.
09:12I went over to check it out, but nobody was on the porch.
09:16The more I thought about it, a single knock would have been odd if there were someone at the door.
09:20I still didn't know what it was that I heard, but I went back to gaming.
09:24It must have only been a half hour later that I heard another sound.
09:29It was a sort of click, like something closing.
09:32I immediately took my headset off and looked behind me.
09:35Again, the house was quiet now.
09:38I got up and did a walkthrough of the house.
09:40I didn't thoroughly check every inch of the place, I was just trying to spot any obvious signs of what
09:45I'd been hearing.
09:47The house was fairly old, so usually I chalk these things up to being the aging wood.
09:51After checking around and not seeing anything, that's exactly what I did, and I went back to my desk.
09:57I was still a little hesitant to put my headset back on, but eventually I did anyway.
10:02Only a couple minutes later though, a reflection suddenly moved across my computer screen.
10:07Maybe it was a shadow, I don't know, but I jumped up and spun around.
10:11This time, it was almost like I knew, without a doubt, that someone was inside my home and had just
10:16walked somewhere behind me.
10:18My desk was in the living room, so there was a long hallway behind it with three separate rooms, and
10:23at the end was the front door.
10:25I took a few seconds to recollect myself and think about which way the reflection moved across my screen,
10:30and realized it had moved from the left side of the hallway to the right side.
10:34There was only one door on the right, which was to my bedroom.
10:38It felt like in that moment, the silence of the whole house was deafening,
10:42making each second pass feel more and more terrifying, knowing almost for sure that someone else was in that room.
10:48I decided my best bet was to just run for the front door and hope whoever was in the room
10:52didn't jump out at me.
10:54After a few seconds, I forced myself to move, running down the hall and through the front door.
10:59I heard nothing as I fled the house.
11:02I called the cops and waited outside for several long minutes.
11:05They went in, and I still couldn't believe it when they pulled a man out the front door.
11:10I knew someone had broken in, but actually seeing it was really unsettling.
11:14He looked around 55, but was very large.
11:17His face was uncanny, with wide bloodshot eyes and a disheveled beard.
11:22Even worse, they found two knives on him.
11:25It seemed he had no particular reason for choosing me as a victim of whatever he was trying to do,
11:30which I guess was supposed to make me feel better, but honestly, it didn't.
11:33It just means he was completely insane and would have done anything without hesitation, had he had the chance to.
11:39I think I just got really lucky that night to even be standing here today.
11:43I like you every day.
11:43I like you every day.
