00:00After retiring from college gymnastics, I had no clue what my future was going to look like.
00:07I didn't know what kind of job I was going to get into. I didn't know what I was even
00:13equipped for.
00:16The only thing I did know was that I was going to do what I loved and I was going
00:21to get paid for it.
00:22I'm Gracie Kramer and I'm a professional gymnast for a living.
00:34Oh, too much power.
00:39There we go. That was it. That was the one.
00:45Typically, I wake up around 545, 530 and get into the gym around 630.
00:54I typically film the majority of my training session because people love the vlogs and they love to see kind
01:02of what I do on a day-to-day basis.
01:09There it is.
01:11Through social media, I'll typically make money through brand deals.
01:15It ranges from $3,000 to $5,000 depending on the deliverables.
01:20I usually do around five to six brand deals a month if it's a good month.
01:26I mean, yeah, that's right.
01:32So the lifespan of a gymnast is actually sometimes up to 18.
01:37If you're lucky, you make it to college.
01:40Honestly, being at UCLA was unmatched.
01:43Being surrounded by literal champions in every single sport was like you're amongst greats.
01:52And I think when you're amongst greats, you can't help but want to be great.
02:00One of the most important meets of my career was the centennial meet.
02:09I know it's a great routine when I kind of black out and I don't really remember what happened.
02:16I just feel like I let kind of airplane mode happen and I just went on autopilot.
02:21It was the most surreal experience.
02:24And I just remember like kind of flashing back into reality right after I finished my routine
02:31and hearing the entire crowd roaring, screaming their heads off for me.
02:44And just kind of realizing like, okay, today might be it.
02:49Like, get ready.
02:51Next thing I know, I just feel my coach like run up to me and grab me and was like,
02:56you got it.
02:57And then I look around and there's a perfect 10 on the board and it's going to make me cry.
03:08It's just crazy because it was like everything I worked so hard for, like finally paid off.
03:16Definitely a highlight I'll never forget.
03:25Not too long after COVID hits and our season ends.
03:32And now we don't get to compete in the most important meets of our season.
03:37Every goal that I had set leading up to the season was taken away.
03:42Like your career's done.
03:43You're no longer a student athlete.
03:45You're no longer a gymnast.
03:47Like, welcome to the real world.
03:49And I did not know how to cope with that.
03:53Quick, quick, quick.
03:54Quick, pull up.
03:55Good girl.
03:57That was way better.
03:59It was huge.
04:01That height would be able to do a front pole.
04:04Do you feel better?
04:05Yeah.
04:05Great.
04:07People ask me, you know, what do you want to do when you graduate?
04:09What do you want to do now that you're not a gymnast and not an athlete?
04:13And I'm like, I'm going to do what I love and I'm going to get paid for it.
04:16There you go.
04:18Good.
04:18Instead of this, can we like do something?
04:20Okay, thank you.
04:21Show off those nails.
04:23You just got them done.
04:24And so I made that my mission because I don't think life is long enough to do something that you
04:30hate.
04:32Kick strong.
04:33Kick, pull up.
04:35Good.
04:35You anticipated that punch a little too much.
04:37Don't get frustrated.
04:39We're learning.
04:40I have a lot of different ways that I make money as a gymnast.
04:42Typically for a private lesson, I'll charge about $100 an hour.
04:46Come on, same thing as the punch.
04:48Try, pull up.
04:50Okay.
04:52We're like this.
04:53She just gets me.
04:53She just can't read my mind.
04:55So my client Presley is 14 years old, so she's a freshman in high school.
05:01It's not just teaching her how to do gymnastics well.
05:04It's guiding her and mentoring her on ways to think and ways to approach the sport so that
05:10the passion is still there and the nerves are not there and the love for the sport is there
05:16always.
05:18Quick.
05:19Push the toes.
05:20Better.
05:21Once you get comfy with that, then that leg's going to release.
05:24Right now, you're worried about the timing, so you're playing small, but that was the
05:28best timing you've done.
05:29You killed it.
05:31I'm proud of you.
05:31I'm proud of you.
05:32Good job.
05:33Oh, you're sweaty.
05:35That means you worked hard.
05:37Another really fun thing about my career is the stunt work.
05:40I got to say, the coolest stunt job I did was I stunt doubled for Martha Stewart in a Skedges
05:46commercial.
05:48My typical stunt work is very unique because I am the gymnast.
05:53Anytime they need a female gymnast, I get a call.
05:59Being a part of a national commercial was definitely a top-tier experience.
06:05Everyone's calling me on Super Bowl Sunday and telling me how awesome the commercial is
06:08and how they knew it was me, even though I'm dressed as Martha Stewart and CGI'd and everything.
06:21How much does it hurt now?
06:22It's actually so much better.
06:24Okay.
06:25Like, the first day was rough.
06:27Like, I could barely push this way.
06:30When did it happen?
06:31Saturday.
06:32Okay.
06:32Yeah.
06:33So it's only been a couple of days.
06:34Yeah.
06:34But it's already feeling a lot better.
06:35Yeah.
06:36Around once a week is when I go to physical therapy and meet with my physical therapist,
06:40Ashley.
06:41There are a lot of athletes who struggle with injuries, long-term injuries, even arthritis
06:48from overuse.
06:49The list goes on.
06:50I've been going to physical therapy since I was eight, and I honestly think it's the
06:54reason I can still do gymnastics to this day.
06:56So this is an active release technique where I'm holding the muscle down while she's lengthening
07:02it.
07:03So it is painful to create that elongation while I'm pressing it evenly.
07:08But it's very effective in creating and generating tissue length.
07:13So like, instead of my hips being like this, I get extension.
07:18So then I'm not using my back to get extension for like a back handspring or like a vault.
07:25So for reference, these are the two muscles that I'm working on.
07:28So I'm going in, sliding around the ilium, going into the iliacus, and then this is the
07:34psoas, and going in and releasing it.
07:36And then since it's connected to the femur, when she extends her leg, these muscles lengthen.
07:41So I'm holding them down.
07:43Now I'm going to do some hard cups.
07:46You want hearts?
07:50Sometimes they look like broken hearts, you know?
07:55I promise you won't die.
07:56All right, you'll be the first one if you do, so.
08:02Good, so I'm hooking on your shoulder blade, giving you pressure.
08:07Lost a cup.
08:08You didn't fart, I promise.
08:12All right, okay, we kind of got one heart.
08:20Yeah, I feel good.
08:22I hope that my future in gymnastics stays super strong, because it definitely takes a lot of
08:29work to maintain the skill level.
08:32But I also hope to inspire people to move their bodies, to enjoy fitness and health, and to
08:41just fall in love with the sport again, even after competitive gymnastics is done.
08:46I think that everyone deserves to know how fun it is to do a flip.
08:51It doesn't matter how old you are, it doesn't matter what your strengths are, you can always go
08:57back to the sport that you fell in love with.
08:59Even in just like a very small way, there's always time.
09:09Oh.
09:10I'm sorry.
09:14I'm sorry.
09:17I'm sorry.
09:19I did a lot of fun.
09:22I'm sorry, just like can I Wellness.
09:22Well, but yeah, that's good.
09:26After that moment, when you deze off and you're off,ITCH is what I'm doing.
