Urban Art Biennale: Rust, dust and decay revamps Germany's Völklingen ironworks

At one of Europe’s most imposing industrial relics, urban artists are transforming rust, dust and decay into a giant open-air gallery. The Urban Art Biennale has returned to Germany’s Völklingen Ironworks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

00:25The Urban Art Biennale 2026 is really an international show.
00:29We have 50 artists from 17 countries, from three continents, and it's really showing
00:34street art, graffiti, urban art at its best.
00:38We have the car, installations like this behind me, which are sort of monumental, fossil
00:43mobility, which is covered from a Pompeii-like dust cover, or we have the huge roof of Amparito,
00:53the writing on the roof of the Möllerhalle, which is really the biggest work in the show.

01:29The Urban Art Biennale 2026 is a huge one, which is a beautiful shop for us.
01:37I think that it's so dusty and it's so old and but it's beautiful you know there's there's a
01:45there's beauty in decay and I think what I've done makes you kind of just perceive it in a bit
01:50of a different way. It's like a nice place people walking around there are bees there are beautiful
01:56flowers but yeah we still remember the history and that's super important.
