00:00Minnesota's got a little bit of life in the NHL and also maybe a goalie change there for those Colorado
00:05Avalanche.
00:06Take a look at this game coming up, Joe.
00:07Slight favorites at the opening number at about a minus 118 price for the Avalanche.
00:11It's increased slightly here up to minus 130s and minus 135s in the marketplace.
00:16And look at that total.
00:17Six and a half goals are expected here.
00:20Minnesota, can they get even closer now back to the series?
00:23Joe, what's the spread line for you tonight here?
00:26Well, back against the wall.
00:27They got it done at home, right?
00:28In a game three situation, couldn't go down 3-0.
00:31That's kind of what we expect.
00:33And I mean, going into that last game, Donnie, everyone was like, oh, I thought we were going to get
00:37more from Minnesota.
00:39Like, listen, the series doesn't start until somebody wins a road game, right?
00:43It doesn't happen.
00:44And right now, listen, Colorado got to regroup a little bit.
00:48Although I don't need, they don't have to.
00:50I mean, goalie changes and everything else cracks me up when they were clearly the better team at home in
00:55the first two games.
00:56But, hey, this is an all-important game.
00:58Can Minnesota step up and get it done?
01:01We had said from the beginning, Donnie, no way are we sweating out an under in this series, in any
01:07game.
01:07And I'm not doing it tonight either.
01:09Six and a half, that's fine.
01:11Lock it in.
01:12I'm on the over here.
01:13I'm expecting more.
01:14I don't care who's in goal.
01:16There is too much firepower on the ice in this game on both sides to think we're going to get
01:21a 2-1 game.
01:22Busy Monday here on the Sports Grid Network, the early line, the place to be, rising and grinding, having fun.
01:27And you never know who's going to stop by.
01:29It's on the right side.
01:29It's Joe Ranieri.
01:30We welcome in Tom Vecchio.
01:32After a big-time weekend in sports here, we look forward to the PGA Championship this week,
01:36as well as great NHL action, Major League Baseball, and the NBA, Tom.
01:41A lot of stuff to get to today.
01:42How are we doing?
01:44I'm doing good.
01:44Yeah, a lot going on this time of the season.
01:47Before we know it, OTAs and training camp will be here for the NFL, but still prime time for MLB
01:52along with the playoffs.
01:53As you said, I'm ready to go.
01:56Enjoyed hockey over the weekend.
01:57Would like to see my Flyers extend this year as least one more game against Carolina, but that's a good
02:01hockey club.
02:028-0 so far in the postseason, but I got to tell you, Tom, when I watch my Philadelphia Flyers,
02:07I'm like, yeah, they're a little bit ways away.
02:09They just need a little bit more skill, and every power play I watch is horrible.
02:13And that just doesn't count this playoff run, this regular season, and five years previous, the Flyers have been terrible.
02:18I tuned in a little bit yesterday because I've been really enjoying, Tom, the Sabres and the Montreal Canadiens.
02:22I watched for about 15 minutes and saw a power play that almost had me falling out of my bed
02:28to perfection here.
02:29And we find this up with the Canadians, a 2-1 series lead now over the Buffalo Sabres.
02:34Tommy, talk to me about this series and the Canadians now with the upper hand.
02:39They're certainly looking good, and the offense is finally coming through for them at a consistent rate.
02:44And, you know, frankly, you know, we keep seeing overs come through in this series.
02:48I will say the lines posted for, you know, Game 4 has the line at 6.5 instead of 5
02:53.5.
02:53I've been playing the 5.5s even with the juice at minus 130, minus 140.
02:56We're consistently getting scoring.
02:58You know, I think this is going to be the inflection point in the series.
03:01We're going to start to see the unders come through.
03:02The Sabres themselves know they don't want to turn every game into a barn burner and try and win it
03:075.4 or, you know, 6.2 in this case.
03:10So, I think this is where they kind of have to reel things in, and this is where we're going
03:13to start to see the unders.
03:14So, if you've been playing the 5.5s, that's great, but start to lean towards the unders now that we're
03:18seeing 6.5s out there.
03:21I won't be doing it with the Ducks and the Knights.
03:24I'll tell you that, though, Tom.
03:25I am not sweating out unders in that series.
03:30Good job.
03:31I mean, for the Ducks, they just won't go away, man.
03:344-3 last night.
03:36Now, of course, 2-2 in the series.
03:37But, as long as it's under 7, I'm likely betting the over moving forward.
03:42It has to be.
03:43And, frankly, this is, it's, you know, like the Ducks, to me, are like a mini version of the Oilers
03:48that we've seen over the past few years.
03:50Like, they have plenty of offense, and the goaltending and defense is a little bit shaky at times.
03:54That's really what it comes down to.
03:56And they're going to give up three goals, but they also can keep up with the scoring.
03:59So, they're never a team that's truly going to get shut out.
04:02Like, even, what was it, game one that they lost?
04:04They gave up three, four goals early, whatever it was.
04:06But, they still scored two of their own.
04:08So, if they can get the two goals, maybe a third of their own, you have to be looking to
04:11the over.
04:12And, frankly, we're going to see one of game six or game seven end two to one just because that's
04:17what's going to happen in a game.
04:18But, really, if you have a seven-game series, five or six of the seven are going to go over.
04:23Taking a look there at the Colorado Avalanche, we always think that they're probably the cream of the crop in
04:27the Western Conference,
04:28but dealing with a little bit of goalie issues.
04:29We know they can score, but the question is, can they stop other teams from scoring?
04:33Wild with a really good game number three.
04:35I'm not saying the Avalanche are going to lose this series, but when you sort of take a look at
04:38the Carolina Hurricanes 8-0,
04:40really handling their business and waiting on their next opponent, how do you feel about the Colorado Avalanche?
04:45And are they in any trouble there in the Western Conference, or maybe just when they get to the Stanley
04:49Cup?
04:50You know, I think they are the best team in the West.
04:51This is not to say expecting them to go, you know, 12-0 throughout the Western playoffs just to get
04:57to the Stanley Cup.
04:57I think they are better than the Wild.
04:59They do have their issues.
05:00For me, it comes down to just what we get from the top-end defense of McCarr and Tavis,
05:04because I do think that's one of the best duos in the league right now,
05:07and I think they can shut down any other teams of the opposing team's top unit.
05:12It really comes down to just the details of the game and beyond that, because they can keep up the
05:17scoring.
05:18They have the top-end defense, the back-end defense, and the goaltending.
05:21Shutting down, you know, Kaprizov and Joel Erickson, Eric, and Matt Boldy, and Quinn Hughes when they're on a power
05:27play,
05:27that's what it comes down to.
05:28Limiting the scoring chances for the opposing team, and they can do their own scoring.
05:33I think they'll be fine.
05:35That's going to be a whole lot of fun there, Tom.
05:38I think ultimately, though, I mean, who's meeting in the Stanley Cup here?
05:44Who's meeting in the finals, do you think?
05:45Anything change for you?
05:47I still think it's going to be pretty chalked between the Canes and the Avs.
05:51I think that will give us the best series.
05:53Top-end offense, great defense, great systems, and truly two teams that deserve to be there,
05:58as the Canes have deserved to be there over the past few years.
06:00They've just run into a mini dynasty with the Panthers,
06:03and we know that the Avs have plenty of playoff pedigree.
06:05Avs, Canes in the finals.
06:08Hart Trophy finalists have been announced here, Tom.
06:10Nikita Kucherov, Nathan McKinnon, and Connor McDavid as the three here.
06:14Should anybody else get any looks there?
06:16And also, who do you think wins the Hart Memorial Trophy?
06:19You know, for a portion of the season, I thought McKinnon was just the outright favorite,
06:23as he should have been.
06:24And then we see Kucherov storm back.
06:26McDavid missed a little bit of time.
06:27A lot of people are going to say that celebrating was snubbed.
06:30And, you know, the gut reaction or, like, the knee-jerk reaction is, yeah,
06:35celebrating deserves to be there.
06:36They should have at least four or five finalists.
06:37He deserves to be there.
06:38But, you know, he wasn't top three in the league when it comes to points.
06:41He wasn't top three in the league when it comes to goals.
06:43And really, the differential between three and four, where he was at four,
06:47and then McKinnon with 127 points and celebrating at 115.
06:51Like, we're not talking about three or four points.
06:53We're talking about almost 15-point separation, which is a good amount.
06:56He really slowed down.
06:57The Sharks didn't make the playoffs.
06:59These other players, all their teams made the playoffs,
07:01albeit the Oilers and the Lightning got kicked out early.
07:05Celebrini deserves to be there.
07:06And, frankly, Celebrini is going to be, like, the interesting pick next year.
07:09He's like, ah, finally, he'll unseat one of the historic players
07:12that we've had before him.
07:13He'll be the pick next year.
07:15All right.
07:17All right.
07:17So I'm just curious, though, because if we have Abs and Caroline,
07:21who's holding the trophy?
07:23Is it – well, if that's the case, it definitely stays in the U.S.
07:27But who holds it, though?
07:30You know, for me, I still think that the top-end talent that the Abs have,
07:33what they have top to bottom in terms of not just the scoring that they have,
07:38but the system that they have,
07:39and knowing that you're going to be getting consistent scoring
07:42out of multiple players.
07:43And, listen, Logan Stankov in four,
07:45where the Canes has been awesome in the playoffs.
07:47You know, we're still missing a little bit from, you know,
07:49Sebastian Ajo at times, Andres Fekchenkoff.
07:51I want to see a little bit more scoring from them.
07:53Consistently, you know, they have to get it going.
07:54Seth Jarvis was a little bit slow, but knowing that we have a player
07:57like Marty Natchez alongside Nathan McKinnon,
08:00we still have McCarr, who's going to be the Norris Trophy winner.
08:02They have a little bit more top-end talent, and that's where I lean.
08:06It's like a 55-45 split, if you were to ask me how to put things.
08:10It's not some overwhelming favorite.
08:11I think the Abs are better.
08:12It's slight.
08:13I think it would go at least six if that were to be the matchup.
08:15Let's get the ice advice that you need tonight.
08:17Game four in Minnesota, which saw a really impressive game by Minnesota.
08:225-1 in that game, easily upends Colorado.
08:25The series now sits 2-1.
08:26The Colorado Avalanche are the favorites still in this game,
08:29with the goalie chains currently trading at 56 cents as the yes contract,
08:34which means, Joe, a $100 investment on the Avalanche would pay back 179 in a victory.
08:39But if the Wild can pull that upset, yes contract at 46 cents,
08:44that would be plus money.
08:45$100 investment pays back 218.
08:49Well, can they do exactly what they did in game three, Donnie?
08:53Can they be more physical?
08:55Can they play from in front?
08:57And if they can, Minnesota home ice in front of those crazy fans,
09:01they will likely go ahead and head back to Colorado with this series tied 2-2.
09:06But, man, does it feel like Colorado's got a really good opportunity to head back
09:11with a 3-1 series lead?
09:14And at plus money, oh boy, oh boy, I want to.
09:19I want to take Minnesota, but I think ultimately,
09:21I think Colorado is a road favorite for a reason.
09:24I think I'm going to go with Colorado to get this one done here tonight.
09:28Good night.
