00:01Previously, on Army Wives, take guys like you.
00:04You mean idiots like me and Geron?
00:07You're goofing off playing football one day and you're on my table the next.
00:13I can't be seeing you.
00:15We're the same rank, it's okay.
00:17That's not what I'm talking about.
00:19Then what?
00:20I'm engaged, Jeremy. I have a fiancé back home.
00:26Listen, my deal is, I have to walk out of here with a date.
00:31So, how about we slip away, find some pizza and beer, solve both our problems?
00:40I need a case.
00:44We can't do this.
00:48You're returning to duty?
00:50Restricted duty, rear detachment command.
00:53That's fantastic.
00:56Hey, Dad, guess what? I'm going to Woodson to play hockey.
00:59She was amazing, sweetheart. You would have been so proud.
01:03Oh, we miss you, Ernie.
01:05Love you. Be safe.
01:09She's coming.
01:10Really?
01:11That was the White House.
01:13Dr. Biden has agreed to be our kickoff speaker for the fun run.
01:17That is fantastic.
01:19Yes.
01:19The second lady is coming here.
01:21Yes.
01:22You know how hard she's been working on military issues.
01:26Traveling to different bases around the country.
01:28I wanted her to see Fort Marshall.
01:30Congratulations.
01:33It's going to be so good for our post.
01:35For military families everywhere.
01:36Oh, I know.
01:39Oh.
01:42Gorgeous flowers.
01:43Do your sisters visit?
01:45Yep.
01:45Should be here any minute.
01:47I still can't believe they're coming.
01:50You invited them, right?
01:52Uh, not exactly.
01:56Suzanne called the other day and announced that she was coming.
02:00Typical older sister.
02:02She didn't ask.
02:03She just told me.
02:04And an hour later, Beth was on the phone asking why she wasn't invited too.
02:10Ah, it's understandable.
02:11She's the youngest.
02:13Yeah.
02:13Never wants to be left out.
02:15What could I do?
02:17I think it's sweet.
02:19They want to take care of you.
02:21Huh.
02:22You don't seem very excited.
02:24You don't know my sisters.
02:26I've met them.
02:27Not together.
02:30Oh, God.
02:36Denise!
02:43Wow.
02:44Why didn't I ever look that good pregnant?
02:47Because you don't do yoga like Denise and I do.
02:49You look gorgeous.
02:51Um, you remember Claudia Joy?
02:53Oh, of course.
02:54Hi.
02:55Good to see you again.
02:57Same here.
02:58I can't believe it.
02:59The last time you were pregnant, I was in high school.
03:02Don't remind me.
03:03What a cute little house.
03:05It's not so little.
03:07Remember that shack we lived in at Fort Bliss?
03:10Oh, I try not to.
03:11Well, I'm afraid, uh, we converted Jeremy's room to the nursery.
03:15But the sofa is a pullout and one of you can share my bed.
03:19Oh, honey, don't worry.
03:21Beth can take the couch.
03:22I booked a room at the Mills house in town so we wouldn't crowd you.
03:26So, where's the nursery?
03:28I'd love to see you.
03:29Uh, down the hall.
03:30Ah.
03:32Do you believe it?
03:33I thought this was supposed to be a family gathering, but no.
03:37Suzanne has to go to some hotel with fancy sheets and room service.
03:40Yeah, you know Suzanne.
03:41She likes things a certain way.
03:43Yeah.
03:44Her way.
03:45It's so adorable.
03:47I want a seat, too.
03:50Why do I feel like I'm 12 years old again?
03:54Good luck.
03:57I'll need it.
03:58Oh.
03:59Call me.
04:00Yeah.
04:09Okay.
04:10Okay, hold on.
04:13I still can't believe it.
04:15Jill Biden coming here to our fun run?
04:19I know.
04:20I hope she's giving trophies at the end, because I want pictures.
04:24Hey, we gotta win our group first.
04:27Are you kidding?
04:28We're gonna crush the competition.
04:31Croxy.
04:32No prisoners!
04:34Relax, would ya?
04:36I'm just excited.
04:37I'm excited this thing is gonna send military kids to summer camp.
04:41Yeah, including ours.
04:42That's what I'm talking about.
04:44Nice!
04:45Here come the jarheads.
04:48Hey, Roxy.
04:50Oh, boy.
04:52Stand by, ladies.
04:53Hey, Joyce.
04:54I didn't know the Marines got up this early.
04:57I'm actually glad we ran into you, Roxy, so you can see the front of our shirts.
05:01Because on race day, we're only gonna see our backs.
05:05Really?
05:06Well, you haven't seen the rest of our team yet.
05:09Because we are gonna whoop all y'all's butts.
05:13You wanna bet?
05:15Hell yeah, we wanna bet.
05:18So if we beat them, they have to buy us around, wear army tees, and sing army songs.
05:26Yeah.
05:27But if they beat us, we have to sing the Marine Corps hymn for them.
05:31Yeah, but that's not gonna happen because of our secret weapon.
05:38Uh, about that.
05:41Emelyn spoke with her hockey coach just before you got here.
05:44I mentioned the fun run, and he said no way.
05:48What?
05:49He doesn't allow his players to take unnecessary risks off the ice.
05:54What risks?
05:56Roxy, it's an obstacle course through the woods.
05:59So?
06:00You walk out on the street, you can get hit by a bus?
06:04Emelyn, he cannot do this.
06:05You have rights.
06:06Claudia Joy, come on.
06:07There's gotta be something you can do here.
06:09Let it go, Rox.
06:11This team captain thing's making her a little nuts.
06:14I'm really sorry.
06:16It's not your fault you tried to help us out.
06:19I was just counting on you to be our ringer.
06:22I always do.
06:25Okay, so Denise signed us up for the all-women division.
06:29We need to find a fourth woman.
06:32Right.
06:33Who?
06:34We can't think of a better person to beat the pants off the Marines.
06:39Oh, and it's for a great cause, too.
06:42I wish I could, Roxy, but my doctors still haven't cleared me for heavy exercise yet.
06:47Ugh.
06:48I'm sorry.
06:49I didn't know.
06:50Oh, it's okay.
06:51It's a long road back, but I'm better.
06:54Anyway, I've agreed to be an official for the race.
06:57Oh, great.
06:58Well, we'll see you there, then.
07:00Mm-hmm.
07:01I'd ask Roland, but I think his schedule's full.
07:04That's okay.
07:05We're entered in the women's only division.
07:07Oh.
07:08Do you think I could disguise him, like, in a wig or something?
07:12Roland in a wig?
07:15Forget it.
07:17Good luck.
07:18Right.
07:21Sisterhood is powerful.
07:28How much longer?
07:29Mm-hmm.
07:30Any second.
07:32My lips are killing me.
07:36Oh.
07:37Ooh.
07:44No good.
07:45I look fat.
07:46Let me see.
07:47No one can look fat next to me.
07:49Oh, it's fine.
07:51Mom's always asking for a good picture of us.
07:53Let's just email it to her and Dad.
07:54Oh, forget that.
07:56We'll have to print it and send it snail mail.
07:58I thought you bought them a computer.
07:59She did.
08:00And lessons.
08:01I think Dad threw the guy out.
08:04You know Dad, if the Army didn't issue it, he has no use for it.
08:08And Mom thinks the cursor is someone who swears.
08:10They get by.
08:12If you visited more often, Suzanne, you'd see for yourself.
08:16Guess, well, some of us have children, too, but they have to go.
08:19Don't you mean some of us have children and husbands?
08:22Oh, for pity's sake.
08:24I wasn't commenting on your marital status.
08:26Really?
08:26All right.
08:27Come on, guys.
08:27How does she always have to bring up my divorce?
08:30Did you hear me mention her divorce?
08:31You know what?
08:32I think we're all hungry.
08:33Let's get something to eat, and we'll feel better.
08:35Great.
08:36I got this.
08:36I got it.
08:49I know you're supposed to use your feet, but I'm no good at this.
08:56All right.
08:57You take it easy, bud.
09:01Mr. Sherwood, what's happening with you and that medic, babe?
09:04Specialist Gabriel.
09:06It's Gabriel, and it's none of your business.
09:10A little touchy, aren't we?
09:12Last time I saw you two, it was all lovey-dovey.
09:15She has a fiancé.
09:18What?
09:19Back at home.
09:20She was playing?
09:22Looks that way.
09:24It's harsh.
09:29Eagle 3, this is Eagle 6.
09:31Come in.
09:31Over.
09:33Eagle 3, this is Eagle 6.
09:35Come in.
09:35Over.
09:37Eagle 3, this is Eagle 6.
09:37Eagle 6, this is Eagle 3.
09:38Over.
09:39Eagle 3, this is Eagle 3.
09:40Eagle 3, video from UAB picked up a white pickup truck headed your way.
09:43Intel suggests possible threat.
09:45May have explosives on board.
09:47Over.
09:47Roger that, Eagle 6.
09:49White pickup.
09:50Possible threat.
09:51May have explosives.
09:52Over.
09:52Use extreme force if necessary.
09:56Alright, listen up.
09:58Watch the road.
10:00White truck.
10:01Possible explosives.
10:07Target straight away!
10:10Target straight away!
10:39Everybody okay?
10:41Riggs?
10:42Roger, Sergeant.
10:44Sherwood!
10:50Sherwood!
10:52We're good, Sergeant.
10:55Sherwood, you've been hit.
11:03Sherwood!
11:25Hell of an explosion.
11:26I felt the back here.
11:29Hell of an explosion.
11:34Sherwood.
11:36I'm fine.
11:40Take care of him.
11:41He needs it more than I do.
11:54This gumbo is out of this world.
11:57Glad you like it.
11:58Fantastic.
11:59Best in all of Charleston.
12:00Well, it's so nice you could visit.
12:02Denise talks about you all the time.
12:05Really?
12:06Which one of us?
12:09Both of you.
12:11Let's see.
12:15Suzanne, you live in...
12:17Richmond.
12:18Richmond.
12:19Yeah.
12:20Yeah, and you are married to the...
12:23Oh, yeah, right.
12:24With the horses.
12:25Yes.
12:26And two children.
12:27Mm-hmm.
12:28Yes.
12:29And...
12:30Beth?
12:32Pittsburgh.
12:33No horses, no kids.
12:34No husband.
12:37What kind of work do you do?
12:38I'm an event planner.
12:41What happened to real estate?
12:42I'm on a new career path.
12:44Again.
12:49So, um, how is the fun run shaping up?
12:53Uh, not good.
12:54Emelyn's hockey coach won't let her do it, so now we are scrambling to find a replacement.
12:59What's the fun run?
13:00Uh, it's a foot race combined with an obstacle course, four-man teams.
13:05To raise money to send kids to camp.
13:08Sounds like fun.
13:09That is what Denise said when she signed us up months ago.
13:14And now look at her.
13:16So, we don't find a fourth and we have to drop out, which means losing to this Marine Corps team,
13:22which is driving me crazy.
13:24Heck, I'll do it.
13:25Really?
13:26Sure.
13:27I bike, run, hike.
13:29Oh, that's fantastic.
13:32I was about to say I could do it.
13:34With your bad ankle?
13:36She was thrown from a horse.
13:38I wasn't thrown.
13:39It was a rough dismount.
13:40My ankle's fine now.
13:42Still, at your age, it takes longer to recover.
13:46I'd be happy to do it.
13:48I thought we came here for Denise.
13:49You know what?
13:50It's all right.
13:51I'm working the event anyway, so we'll all be there and you can help me at the aid station.
13:56Super.
13:58Okay.
14:00So, Beth, I have a form for you in my office.
14:04Let's get you signed up.
14:05Works for me.
14:06Me too.
14:07You saved our butts.
14:12Notice how she never misses a chance to put me down.
14:15Suzanne.
14:16You hurt her at your age?
14:18Please.
14:18I think my 10K time is still better than hers.
14:22She used to hate being the youngest.
14:24Now she rubs my nose in it whenever she can.
14:26You have to cut her some slack.
14:28Beth doesn't have much going on right now.
14:30And that's my fault.
14:31No, of course not.
14:32And I love that martyr act about Mom and Dad.
14:35I mean, unlike Beth, I can't just drop everything to go visit.
14:38I mean, honestly, I don't think Mom and Dad need all that attention she gives them.
14:42Come on, relax.
14:44Let Beth enjoy the fun run.
14:47You and I will have our own fun on the sidelines, okay?
14:52I suppose.
14:59Found these all over the site, General.
15:02Remnants of detonator and tripwire, too.
15:05IED components.
15:06Truck must have been pulled over.
15:08Yeah, it blew up when our patrol fired on it.
15:11Everyone in the truck was killed instantly.
15:14Three insurgents.
15:15You keep me posted.
15:17Yes, sir.
15:25I want to report on civilian casualties.
15:29When it's appropriate, I want to visit the family that lost father and son.
15:33Yes, sir.
15:36Sergeant LeBlanc.
15:42Yes, General.
15:43I want to commend you and your team on your swift action today.
15:47Just doing our job, sir.
15:48Actually, it was Specialist Sherwood who fired the decisive shot.
15:52Where is Sherwood?
15:53He's at the aid station, sir.
15:55He's okay.
15:56He just took some trap mold to the shoulder.
16:01Jeremy.
16:02Hey, Dad.
16:03Hey.
16:09Hey, Sergeant LeBlanc tells me you two got that hot target today.
16:16He's putting you in for a commendation.
16:21You okay?
16:24Come on, it's your old man you're talking to.
16:27Yeah.
16:30The bomb blasted, killed some civilians.
16:34Father and son.
16:36Saw them dead.
16:38It's not your fault.
16:40I just keep seeing them.
16:42It's hard to get rid of those images.
16:44I know.
16:47But if you hadn't have done your job, there'd have been a lot more bodies out there today.
16:51I know.
16:53You want to get coffee?
16:54Talk it out.
16:56No, thanks.
16:57Dr. Burton and I worked out my plan.
16:59I'm going to get to a session.
17:01I mean, I appreciate the offer, but...
17:03No, no, no.
17:03It's okay.
17:05I just want to make sure you're, you know, taking care of things.
17:10Thanks, Dad.
17:11Of course.
17:24I can imagine how difficult this is for you.
17:27Come and see.
17:28Look, all of your training has been to make you tough, self-sufficient.
17:34Shut down any feelings that get in the way of the mission.
17:39Therapy's the opposite.
17:42Here, the goal is to get in touch with your emotions.
17:45Let your feelings lead.
17:47I get that, but I'm not here for therapy, Doc.
17:51You're not?
17:52Just looking for a little advice is all.
17:56But now that I'm here, I'm thinking this is a mistake.
17:59Why is that?
18:02I'm not into head shrinking.
18:04No offense.
18:06Besides, you're friends with my wife.
18:08My ex-wife.
18:09Look, I can assure you that whatever's said here stays between us.
18:13What kind of advice are you looking for?
18:15I don't know.
18:15I should go.
18:17Hey, Chase.
18:18Whatever you want to call this therapy advice, it doesn't matter to me.
18:22But something brought you here.
18:24Maybe I can help.
18:27What's on your mind?
18:31I don't know.
18:33Uh, feels like I'm stuck or something.
18:38I just want to move on.
18:40From your marriage?
18:43A lot of people have difficulty getting back into the dating game after a long marriage.
18:48Well, how about after a good marriage?
18:51You sound angry.
18:53I'm not angry.
18:56Confused, maybe.
18:58Confused.
19:00Look, I was a good husband.
19:02A good father.
19:05I was faithful.
19:07I provided.
19:09Okay.
19:10So what was the problem?
19:11Exactly.
19:12Emma wasn't happy.
19:13She wanted me to leave Delta.
19:15And that makes you angry?
19:16I told you.
19:17I'm not angry.
19:18You're not.
19:24Well, wouldn't you be?
19:27You're not talking about me.
19:36Will you be going back to work after Molly comes?
19:39Of course you won't.
19:40Kids do best when there's a parent at home, and that can't be Frank.
19:44So that's it?
19:46Frank gets his career, and Denise gets nothing?
19:49Well, she can go back to work later.
19:52But she struggled to find something she likes.
19:54And now she's having a child.
19:56Who will benefit from a strong female role model.
19:59Are you saying that stay-at-home moms aren't strong role models?
20:03Beth?
20:05Excuse me.
20:07Hello?
20:08Denise?
20:09I have a problem.
20:11What's going on?
20:13Dr. Biden wants to visit more locales on Post tomorrow.
20:16And I'd love to escort her.
20:18But that means I'd have to drop out a fun run.
20:21Well, you have to go with Dr. Biden.
20:23It's an honor for you and the Post.
20:25I know.
20:26I know.
20:27But I don't want to disappoint Roxy and Pamela either.
20:30We all know how hard your life is, Beth.
20:33But this isn't about you.
20:34Okay?
20:35It's about Denise.
20:37I have an idea.
20:44Dr. Biden, we're so honored you're taking the time to meet some of our Blue Star wives.
20:49The honor's mine, Claudia Joy.
20:51I understand your husbands are all deployed.
20:55And my son, too.
20:57I know what that's like.
20:59My son served a tour in Iraq.
21:02And you're having a new addition, I see.
21:04Yes, ma'am.
21:07One of the things I value most about my role as Second Lady is the opportunity to visit with military
21:14families.
21:15I'm here to listen to what's ever on your mind.
21:18I want this to be an open conversation.
21:22And I hope you'll feel comfortable sharing your stories.
21:25The good ones and the challenging ones.
21:29Well, this isn't like me, Dr. Biden.
21:32But for once in my life, I am speechless.
21:36I think we all are.
21:38I'll get the ball rolling.
21:43We all know how much stress our soldiers endure.
21:46But I think it's safe to say that it's a big problem for the families, too.
21:51When to tell our kids about deployment and what to tell them.
21:55And there's a stress when they're gone, worrying about them every day.
22:00I know that feeling.
22:02The important thing is to realize you're not alone.
22:06And when you need help, say so.
22:08What else?
22:10My biggest challenge is taking care of the kids.
22:13Between carpool, soccer, dance lessons, it really is a two-person job.
22:20I hear that from military spouses all the time.
22:25Parenting is hard enough when both parents are around, which is why I'm so glad you have
22:31this great support network here at Fort Marshall.
22:34Well, that's because of Claudia Joy.
22:37Well, it's because we have each other.
22:39That's nice to hear.
22:41We all have to rely on each other.
22:44Does anyone else have anything they'd like to add?
22:51I like the way you're not afraid
22:59You've got the world planned in your mind
23:09People say you cannot do
23:16Well, they don't know a friend like you
23:22I hate to bring us too close, but I need to get Dr. Biden to the start of our fun
23:27run.
23:27It's been my pleasure.
23:29Let me just say that the White House appreciates all that you and your families do every day for our
23:36country.
23:37On behalf of the President, the First Lady, the Vice President, and myself, thank you.
23:51Good afternoon, and welcome to our inaugural Fort Marshall Fun Run.
24:02I'm Claudia Joy Holden, head of the Family Readiness Group at Fort Marshall,
24:07and it is my great honor to introduce to you the wife of our Vice President
24:12and a military mother herself, Dr. Jill Biden.
24:25I'm proud to be here today as this second lady,
24:29but I'm even more proud to be here as a military mom.
24:38I have traveled to many military bases
24:41and met countless soldiers and their families,
24:46and I have been truly overwhelmed
24:49by the courage of our men and women in uniform
24:54and inspired by the patriotism and pride of their families.
25:04As many of you know, the First Lady and I have been working
25:08to raise awareness of the service and sacrifices
25:12of our men and women in uniform and their families.
25:17Our goal is to help forge an enduring national commitment to supporting them.
25:24This includes building stronger ties
25:28between our civilian and military communities.
25:36Although only 1% of Americans are fighting our wars today,
25:43we need 100% of Americans to support them and their families.
25:49By being here, you are doing exactly that,
25:54and I thank you.
26:01Now, who's ready for the fun run?
26:09Okay, runners, take your places.
26:16Good luck.
26:18You, too.
26:21They're going to need it.
26:23Ready, set,
26:26beat!
26:43You, too.
27:12Let's pull some ну-yo courage.
27:12I'll come to speak.
27:12Put some more.
27:12Now that you're the best we could do in the same relationship
27:13as someone else to
27:13And we have a big rush,
