00:00One day after the new parliament convened and Peter Maia was sworn in as Prime Minister,
00:06thousands took to the streets to celebrate Europe Day in Budapest,
00:10along with the 22nd anniversary of Hungary's accession to the European Union.
00:15On May 9, 1950, the anniversary of the end of World War II,
00:20the Schumann Declaration was issued, laying the foundations for the bloc now known as the European Union.
00:26Some 76 years later, the new Prime Minister was sworn in in Hungary,
00:31marking what could potentially transform the contentious relationship between Brussels and Budapest.
00:38The changing government also left its mark on Europe Day.
01:10Through to its tradition, the event kicked off with a running race
01:14and was followed by other programmes and concerts to mark Europe Day.
