00:07Hello and welcome to Lighttime in Court, the show where we break down your favorite made-for-TV movies one
00:12bottle at a time.
00:13I'm your host Patrick Serrano and today we are talking about Murder, Lies, and Marriage.
00:18Murder, Lies, and Marriage stars Kelly Sullivan, Alex Trumbull, Nadia Adelaide, and Jess Matney.
00:26The movie begins with a pair of teens finding a dead body.
00:30That body belongs to a man named Connor who was in business with his cousin Jack.
00:35While at a fancy gala, Jack's speech is interrupted and his wife is dragged away for the murder of Jack's
00:42cousin Connor.
00:43Nicole's mother and her husband call after her half-heartedly.
00:47Nicole!
00:47Nicole!
00:48Mom, what's happening?
00:49It's okay, Nicole.
00:50Wait.
00:50You'll be okay.
00:51You had the wrong person.
00:52Nicole has never hurt anyone.
00:54Nicole!
00:56Five years later, Nicole is released thanks to new video surveillance cooperating her alibi.
01:02Nicole's mother and the detective working on the case greet her upon release.
01:07Her husband Jack and daughter Sarah are notably missing and haven't visited her once.
01:12Jack has moved on and is dating a new woman named Gwen.
01:16Gwen takes care of Sarah and seems like the perfect stepmother.
01:20They set up a meeting for Nicole to be reintroduced to her daughter.
01:23It goes well, but it's clear Jack doesn't want to co-parent with Nicole.
01:27Nicole herself has trouble adjusting to life outside of prison and being seen as a murderer.
01:33She notices someone is following her and receives a strange note.
01:37It turns out to be Connor's ex-wife, Kristen.
01:40You are gonna get yours.
01:42You bitch.
01:45Kristen warns Nicole about Gwen and says that it's weird Jack is dating Gwen because Connor had an affair with
01:52Gwen and broke up her marriage.
01:54This conversation is relayed in a deranged version of Telephone.
01:59Kristen, are you saying the woman who's spending all this time with Sarah may have murdered Connor and framed me
02:04for it?
02:04That's exactly what I'm saying, that Jack was having an affair with Connor about a year before he died.
02:11And apparently, Gwen did not handle the breakup well.
02:15I just spoke with Kristen.
02:17And she said that the reason she and Connor got divorced is because Connor was having an affair with Gwen.
02:25And she told me that Gwen and Connor were having an affair about a year before Connor was murdered.
02:35Seriously?
02:36Yeah.
02:37That takes up to the next 20 minutes of the movie.
02:40Kristen gets killed and Gwen gets killed and Nicole almost gets killed, but ends up killing Jack, who killed Connor,
02:47and tried to frame his wife for murder.
02:48The movie ends abruptly, and that is Murder Lies in Marriage.
02:52So this movie had the worst parts of a Lifetime movie.
02:56We had unnecessary time jumps and flashbacks, long, repetitive, boring conversations, and a super obvious twist that didn't really pay
03:04off or answer more obvious questions.
03:07Like, why would Jack, the husband, frame his wife, Nicole, for murder?
03:12Completely unprovoked.
03:13Like, did she do something terrible to him to make him want to frame her for murder?
03:20That being said, the hunks were all here.
03:23We had Alex Trumbull, who has long been my Lifetime crush.
03:27Andre Todd Bicey.
03:29He didn't have much to do, but he was looking great.
03:32And my new crush, Connor Tapp.
03:34He was just in I'm Your Biggest Fan.
03:36Sadly, none of these men were shirtless.
03:39So do better Lifetime.
03:40Let's get them all in the contracts.
03:42No shirts.
03:43This movie had four kills, and I would put a cork in it.
03:47And that's it for this week.
