In a fiery address, Vladimir Putin lashed out at NATO and Western nations, claiming they expected Russia to “collapse within six months” and were effectively waging a broader conflict using Ukraine as a proxy. Speaking on the ongoing Russia–Ukraine War, Putin argued that Western leaders miscalculated Russia’s resilience and underestimated its ability to withstand economic and military pressure.

He also accused NATO of breaking past assurances on eastward expansion, suggesting that the alliance’s growth—including countries like Finland joining—was driven by expectations of a weakened Russia. Western officials, however, have consistently rejected these claims, maintaining that NATO expansion is based on sovereign choices of member states and defensive considerations.

00:00I think that it's a globalist wing of the Western elites and they are the ones who wage the war
00:12against us with the hands of the Ukrainians. It was about Ukraine joining the EU, so they could
00:19join if they wanted to. And then it resulted in the armed conflict. Why? Because they do not care
00:25about Russia's interest, because they want to use Ukraine to attain their geopolitical goals started
00:32this lies with the NATO enlargement eastwards. They said not a ninch eastwards, not a step eastwards.
00:40So how did it all happen? The victory day European politicians have been exerting pressure on country
00:50leaders that have come to Moscow. The continuum there tends to rewrite history.
00:56I think that it's a globalist wing of the Western elites and they are the ones who wage the war
01:08against
01:08us with the hands of the Ukrainians. And of course, it's very comfortable for them. They provoked this
01:16conflict. I mentioned how it started, because I'm not making things up about how it all started.
01:23As odd as it might seem, first of all, it was about Ukraine joining the EU, so they could join
01:32if they
01:32wanted to. And then it resulted in the armed conflict. Why? Because they do not care about
01:38Russia's interest, because they want to use Ukraine to attain their geopolitical goals. And these people
01:45in the West, they were lying through their teeth to everyone. And they are admitting this now. And they
01:51started these lies with NATO enlargement eastwards. They said not a ninch eastwards, not a step eastwards. So
02:02how did it all happen? And all of these together provoked the situation that we can see today. They
02:10are the ones who are waging this war against us. And they are doing this with the hands of the
02:18Ukrainians.
02:18In the victory day, European politicians have been exerting pressure on country leaders that have
02:26come to Moscow. They continue in their attempts to rewrite history. What do you think of this so-called
02:34activity and how that can result in Europe? Poverty, stupidity can lead to poverty in the end.
02:43The stronger is Russia, the faster, the sooner it will all disappear. And why this all is happening? I think
02:54the reason is, I think it's a manifestation, strange as it may sound, of rematch, sentiment,
03:02resentment among the European elites that I've mentioned here. What I mean by that, we all know that,
03:15that they all expected Russia to collapse within six months. Businesses were expected to stop, the banking
03:25system was expected to crumple. Millions of people were expected to be left homeless. By the way,
03:34we have the lowest unemployment rate among the G10 at 2.2%. And everybody wanted a bite of Russia.
03:46Everybody wanted to snatch a bite from Russia. Why did Finland join NATO? Did we have any territorial disputes
03:54with Finland? No, we didn't. It had all been settled long before and the Finnish leadership knew that
04:04they all agreed perfectly. Why did they enter? Why did they join NATO? They were hoping for Russia to collapse.
04:12And there they would be, all willingly building a state border along the river Sestra.
04:25That warrants a certain kind of response, but I will spare that.
04:31I think this is largely dictated by considerations like that. But now that they're coming to realize
04:39that it's not that easy, that problems are emerging, that those problems are quite difficult to solve,
04:50and probably it's better to look for ways to restore normal relationships and start looking for mutually
05:00acceptable agreements.
