00:26:04and for whatever reason the detective was like okay that's fine if you know anybody that needs a

00:26:17he closed the case without getting the dna back and just said i have no proof and
00:26:26this is just like a he said she said type of thing there was no witnesses
00:26:31i begged for him to not close the case i was like you're a detective you're supposed to be protecting
00:26:37me from a young age you're taught to go to police when you need help and i did that and
00:26:45nothing was
00:26:46done i was failed as a victim and a sexual assault victim
00:26:58living in my sister's house it was going pretty good but like a week or so later my sister and
00:27:06i got
00:27:07into an argument and she told me that i had to leave and obviously wade had to go with me
00:27:13um but where i was going wade couldn't go with me wade told me he had a friend um that
00:27:23he was gonna go
00:27:23with after i moved we talked on the phone and we were messaging and everything and then i couldn't get
00:27:33a hold of him the phone was off the messages weren't going through and i just realized that he ghosted
00:27:42me
00:27:48one of my longtime zoo friends had reached out to me and said that one of her friends was dating
00:27:54wade
00:27:55and then she told me that it was a guy and i was like wait what
00:28:06i was in inverness florida working on a carnival when i first noticed a hot guy working at a pizza
00:28:14stand
00:28:27in 2019 i was living in an rv traveling on a carnival i was working at a bungee jump at
00:28:37the carnival
00:28:39i saw this new guy that i'd never recognized before i was like wow he's like pretty good looking
00:28:46i just told my friend i was like i think that i'm gonna give him my number
00:28:51so i wrote my number on a napkin and just left it there at the stand that he worked in
00:28:58and a couple days went by i felt someone tap on my shoulder he just said i'm wade and
00:29:05da da da da and i was like okay cool i'm christopher
00:29:09he's like i need that number again and i was like oh okay so and i just put it in
00:29:15his phone
00:29:19that night he messaged me and he's like so i just got in a fight with the girl that i'm
00:29:26with
00:29:27and she kicked me out and he's like i have nowhere to go i was just like yeah i have
00:29:32a couch i mean you
00:29:32can sleep on the couch or whatever and he's like well i don't want to sleep on the couch i'm
00:29:38like well
00:29:38you can sleep wherever you want i don't care i met wade on like a tuesday or wednesday and then
00:29:45like maybe that following sunday night wade moved into my rv
00:29:54wade said that he was straight when i met him but i was like it just seems a little sketchy

00:29:59if you're straight you don't move into a guy's house with a guy and then want to sleep in his
00:30:03bed
00:30:06maybe like a week had went by and then we ended up going out and had some drinks
00:30:15and then i was feeling pretty good so then i think that was the first time
00:30:20usually after the first time like you sleep together either it goes well or it you never
00:30:26hear from that person again like that's just how it goes but um then he still was living with me
00:30:32so
00:30:38two weeks after he'd moved in he had asked if i wanted to make it facebook official
00:30:45i was very surprised because he was so skeptical about being with a guy
00:30:52and this was my first relationship with a guy we enjoyed being together we did a lot of stuff together
00:30:59we had fun and then after that was our last fair i was like well i'm gonna go home to
00:31:07my mom's house
00:31:07for a little bit and just park my trailer there so i can spend a little time with her before
00:31:12i figure out
00:31:13what i'm gonna do so we ended up doing that one night me wade my mom and a few friends
00:31:21went out to
00:31:22a bar and they thought he was hot i mean obviously and they thought he was cool because he's good

00:31:33one night wade is just like oh we should get some drugs then like have fun we just chill at

00:31:39and like um and i was like okay cool i'll call up this dude that i used to know and

00:31:46i don't know what he gave us like ended up giving us like bath salts or something
00:31:52in the middle of the night wade is slipping out and he's just like oh my god somebody's trying to
00:31:58break in the house someone's trying to break in the house i'm like nobody's trying to break in the house
00:32:01go to bed so then like a few hours later he ends up waking me up again well this time
00:32:07he's like
00:32:07standing over my bed with a knife wade said if somebody breaks in the house i'm gonna slit
00:32:14your throat before i slit theirs and i was like that pissed me off so then i ended up like
00:32:19getting
00:32:19up out of bed and like we got in a fight i pushed him and got crazy while he had
00:32:25a knife in his hand
00:32:27and so then he ended up like cut my chest and he cut my hand for like four hours they
00:32:32wouldn't let me
00:32:32get up and i would try to get up and then he like literally was choking me it was crazy
00:32:37i had like
00:32:39these sliding glass doors in my rv like that covered my closet and he ended up like throwing me through
00:32:45there and then it broke the glass so then that ended up cutting me more so now i'm like really
00:32:50bleeding
00:32:51and i was like oh my gosh then he ran out of the house so as soon as he like
00:32:58left i like locked my door
00:33:02my heart was beating so fast it was like forever
00:33:07after he stabbed me i didn't call the police unless someone's dead there's no reason to call the cops
00:33:15i um ended up taking an advil pm and i got under my kitchen table and i just slept under
00:33:20there
00:33:30i wake up like the next day to my sister like banging on my door wade had ended up getting
00:33:38a hold
00:33:38of my sister my sister calmed the situation down and like he showed back up with blood all over him
00:33:46and um apologized he seemed sincere and he sounded like he was sorry so i said after that if you're
00:33:57with
00:33:58like there's no more drinking no more smoking like you're not even smoking cigarettes i don't care
00:34:10wade had found this job on indeed that sounded different and more interesting than what i had going
00:34:17on and then we moved to key west like two days later he had lived down there prior so he
00:34:25seemed to have
00:34:25like a little familiarity with it but i didn't i would say maybe two weeks after we had arrived in
00:34:32the keys i found out that wade was like going around and telling people that we were cousins
00:34:39and i felt like wade was embarrassed about our relationship and i didn't want to be
00:34:45in a relationship where i had to hide anything
00:34:49so i kicked him out then i just packed up and left
00:34:57i found out that wade had been dating chris
00:35:02and i wanted to reach out and warn chris about everything he had told me that he had kicked wade
00:35:10out recently and he had attempted to stab him he told me everything about how
00:35:16things had gone great in the beginning and then just went way south very fast just like with mine
00:35:23after that i started reaching out to all the people i could find that had dated wade and that he
00:35:30had
00:35:31hurt and i started telling my story on instagram and tiktok so this is my lip he busted my lip

00:35:39these are the ligature marks on my hands this is the marks from being strangled posting videos about
00:35:49wade and what he did to me and that other women and men should not hide and they should tell
00:35:57their
00:35:57story and if anyone ever needed someone to talk to they could message me
00:36:04wade's biological father reached out to me i had no idea who he was he told me don't go back
00:36:12to him
00:36:13he's done this before and hearing that from his father really solidified that i cannot ever go back to this
00:36:23man which is part of the reason why i was so adamant about helping other people to stay away from

00:36:37several months after i started posting on social media i got a message on instagram from somebody
00:36:44saying that his friend mila had started dating wade and they needed help to get her away from him
00:36:51because he was already abusing her
00:36:57they sent me pictures of her covered in bruises like way worse than i was so they gave me her
00:37:04information i reached out to her and she told me from the beginning he was putting his hands on her
00:37:10but she loved him and she wanted to try to make it work
00:37:14seeing how he was so easily able to do what he did to me and to chris and to mila
00:37:22and to everybody else
00:37:23i knew it was going to escalate i was begging mila to leave him i told her everything that he
00:37:31did to me
00:37:33i was like please get away from this man he's going to kill you
00:37:45what is your emergency there's a man grabbing a woman in our parking lot she's yelling no no and
00:37:52she's on the ground there's a man here appears to be a fostering a woman now female fighting in the
00:38:00parking lot we do have a call and we have officers in route sir
00:38:08the fort myers police department responded to mila spa for a domestic violence fight
00:38:14where witnesses had told the fort myers police officers that wade wilson had punched her in the
00:38:20face this guy's a nightmare like she spent the night at my house because there was he took her
00:38:35he took her car so she spent the night at my house on the sofa and he was calling her
00:38:41up you're not at
00:38:42his house you're not i'm like she is bro she's right here in my on my bed because you took
00:38:49her car
00:38:49and won't give it back now he has her car keys to her place didn't give any of that back

00:38:54mila gotta get rid of this guy when they responded there melissa montanez gave a vehicle description
00:39:01of the car that wade was driving wade wilson was supposed to come to her spa and bring her back

00:39:24they end up locating the car with wade wilson in it at a joe's crab shack just sitting in the

00:41:33was terminated wade wilson was only being investigated by the fort myers police department at that time for
00:41:39a misdemeanor battery charge pursuing someone endangering the lives of the public for a misdemeanor
00:41:47battery charge is not something that any agency would do we know that wade went to joe's crab shack
00:42:01and then he left there and then went back over the bridge back over into the cape and went to
00:42:08mateo's graphics where wade had approached joshua lukic seeking to get help just to get out of town as

00:43:00court police department arrived to meet with josh lukic officers tried to locate wade inside the business
00:43:07but he had fled the area on foot cape coral at that point wasn't even aware of what had happened
00:43:14at mila spa in fort myers there would have not been any communication or knowledge between the two
00:43:20agencies detectives began investigating the vehicle that was located there at the business they
00:43:27determined that it belonged to a young lady by the name of christine melton christine melton was then
00:43:33placed on their radar and they began to try to locate miss melton they began running the driver's
00:43:41license information for her determining who the emergency contact was which happened to have been
00:43:45a young lady by the name of stephanie johnson they reached out to miss johnson johnson had told them
00:43:51that the night before she and christine melton met wade wilson at the buddha which is a local
00:43:59establishment here in fort myers they were in the process of closing down the buddha it was about
00:44:05two o'clock in the morning but yet they didn't want to stop partying so they decided to move over
00:44:13to
00:44:14miss melton's residence stephanie had to get her child to school so she left christine alone with wade
00:44:22wilson at that point in time
00:44:25the cape coral police department had responded to christine melton's home in south cape coral
00:44:32when law enforcement arrived they knocked at the residence they didn't receive a response
00:44:37so they ultimately wound up breaching the door when officers went inside they had located christine
00:44:45melton wrapped up in some blankets and a carpet christine melton was choked to death
00:44:53right about that same time we received a call from the fort myers police department
00:45:00they had been investigating the domestic incident with melissa montanez and wade wilson fleeing the
00:45:06scene in christine melton's car the homicide of christine melton then the domestic violence incident with
00:45:13melissa montanez happened right on the border between the two cities we are working two investigations
00:45:21that are separate from each other at the same time with the same suspect the search was on at that
00:45:28point to find wade wilson
00:45:33in 2019 i was working for the kib core police department as a detective
00:45:39when we found out that mila was the girlfriend of our current suspect then that's when they requested
00:45:46hey detect me go to the fort myers police department go speak with me let's see what
00:45:51information you can get from her most importantly a location for wade wilson at the time and what
00:45:58the relationship wade wilson had with miss christine melton
00:46:07how do you know we how long have you known boyfriend six months boyfriend six months
00:46:14he's been in jail incarcerated three and a half of this he beat me up and i put him in

00:46:19and then when he had a charge in west palm for second degree felony um uh stolen property

00:46:43together and just share information everybody told me that this would happen

00:46:54he punches me as hard as he can right here like in the face and somehow when he punched like

00:47:01was able to kind of like maneuver around the back and run and that's how i got away and then

00:47:07in the car enough you haven't seen him though since that now now let's rewind okay
00:47:23last night we went to buddha roughly 11 ish
00:47:28what happened there we ordered a few beers well he's wandering around talking to people you know
00:47:33he's very social and then um i pretty much sit at the table watching the band and uh yeah we
00:47:39just
00:47:40hang with friends and stuff like that and then um that's when he wanted to go get drugs at the
00:47:46drug
00:47:46house or something i said no i don't want to go to a drug house you know i guess he
00:47:50knew that i wasn't
00:47:51going to do that he took the keys and then i see the hellcat drive off he leaves the buddha
00:47:56in your
00:47:57car by himself no he can't drive a stick shift so he had somebody else with him i don't know
00:48:03i don't
00:48:04know i feel like it was a car full of people and in the morning he was blowing up my
00:48:10phone and he told
00:48:11me that the hellcat ran out of gas somewhere so i said okay let me um let me come get
00:48:16the keys
00:48:17so i said meet me at the spa he pulls in a black car i'm wondering whose car it is
00:48:23were you ever
00:48:24inside that car no i was not getting never i would have died if i would have gone speaking with
00:48:31mila
00:48:32we were able to put wade wilson at the buddha the same night as miss mountain and we were able
00:48:39to connect
00:48:39the charges for the battery domestic violence with the homicide investigation
00:48:46i'm gonna be straight up and honest with you we don't have a body oh my god stop it
00:48:52this is a homicide are you really serious did you see him talking to any females at the club last
00:48:57time the buddha was he talking just to random people all over the place he's very social
00:49:05if i wouldn't have went and got him this would have never happened you can't blame
00:49:10i wish i would just left him down
00:49:18while speaking with mila i asked her if i could see her phone and i noticed that he had called
00:49:24her
00:49:25several times throughout the day of october 7th from different numbers
00:49:33when we recovered the black nissan belonging to christine melton we ended up serving a search
00:49:39warrant on the vehicle
00:49:42and we did locate two cell phones inside of this black nissan when we recover the phones we are not
00:49:51able to just turn on cell phones and see who they belong to and start rummaging through them to be
00:49:57able
00:49:57to go inside someone's cell phone requires a search warrant and that takes time and in a situation like
00:50:04this time is important so i was really playing a waiting game while we were working on the christine
00:50:11melton case um that first day when we get another case we had received a call at the k coral
00:50:18police
00:50:19department about a found purse impossible missing woman a police officer at a local elementary school
00:50:28had a parent come into the school and say hey i found this purse out in front of the school
00:50:34by the
00:50:34sidewalk he looks in the wallet gets the name and the address and realizes that the owner of the purse
00:50:41diane ruiz lives just a couple of streets behind his school the officer went to return the purse
00:50:50and when he got to the home he learned that diane ruiz was not there her son told our school

00:50:57officer that my mom is supposed to be at work
00:51:06911 what is your emergency i would like to file a missing person support okay what's exactly going on
00:51:14well um she was walking to work and never made it to work her purse was found and she is
00:51:24nowhere to be
00:51:25found okay and who is that to you that is my fiancee does she have a phone yes her phone
00:51:34is not in her
00:51:35purse that they found in diane's case knowing that her cell phone was turned off and that she was not
00:51:42responding to any messages i really wanted to get a hold of her cell phone records quickly when i was
00:51:48speaking with another detective she said you know nick what do you think the chances are that these two
00:51:54cases are related and at that time i said i don't know we're on opposite ends of the city nothing
00:52:01so far
00:52:03has said that diane ruiz or christine melton knew each other and we could not come up with a connection
00:52:10between the two women all at the same time there's still a big piece of the christine melton case
00:52:18missing our suspect is still on the loose we knew the general area that he was last in when
00:52:25he was at mateo graphics that neighborhood was searched extensively and we had hoped that he was still in
00:52:33that general area all of a sudden that night on october 7th we get a big break we received a
00:52:47call from
00:52:48wade wilson's dad giving us a location of a house that he was hiding inside of in cape coral that
00:52:55was
00:52:56right down the street from mateo graphics i said what's going on so he goes you want me to tell

00:53:04the truth and i said yeah he said i i killed a girl last night and i said what and
00:53:13uh he said two
00:53:15and he said i choked the bitch she's a dad i'm a killer i'm a killer and i i kill

00:53:24he said they'll find the first one i know that you know he wouldn't detail what he did and he
00:53:30laughed
00:53:31and he thought it was funny
00:53:36and i said where are you he said i i got away i found a house
00:53:43wade wilson broke into a home nearby in northeast cape coral luckily the couple that was living there
00:53:51had left the day before and went back to ohio wade wilson helped himself to some white claws food and
00:53:58clothing during that time he ended up calling his biological father we found out that his dad didn't
00:54:07have much of connection with wade until he had reconnected when he was 18 years old and had
00:54:14started asking his parents for money wade had asked him whether or not he would assist him in getting out
00:54:22of town the dad put out a ruse to indicate that yeah he would get him an uber but he
00:54:27needed to know
00:54:28what the address was where he was located so at that point in time the father let cape coral police
00:54:34department know where wade wilson was when the task force got there they then invited mr wilson to
00:54:45come out and that's how he was ultimately located and ultimately arrested all right man listen i'm a
00:54:51nice guy okay that's good all right good so all right i'm gonna take i'm gonna put some new handcuffs
00:54:58on you i'm gonna do anything stupid i'm gonna slam you on your face i said in my face if

00:55:30surrounded and he murdered two women this way of course i was like are you serious but
00:55:40deep down i wasn't shocked at all i knew that that's what he was capable of
00:55:48after wade wilson was placed under arrest the first interview with him went very quickly
00:55:56he did not admit to knowing christine melton did not admit to having anything to do with
00:56:03the homicide of christine melton the next morning an email came from diane's cell phone carrier
00:56:12at that point i now have her cell phone records and i'm looking at the last calls or text messages
00:56:19that were made or came through and when i had looked at the phone number immediately my heart sank
00:56:26because i recognized the phone number that was being dialed belonging to the girlfriend of wade wilson
00:56:33wade wilson was calling his girlfriend mila from diane ruiz's phone at that point i knew that the
00:56:41christine melton case and the diane ruiz case were connected so at this point my strategy changes
00:56:48i go from working a missing person case to working a possible homicide
00:56:57a painful night for southwest florida family their loved one is missing diane ruiz disappeared
00:57:03yesterday morning on her way to work her purse found nearby this torture just it's just sitting
00:57:08back here and just waiting it's it's killing us it really is killing us brandon quayar and his
00:57:14family are still reeling from the sudden disappearance of his mother i want my mother to come home that's my
00:57:20mother after getting the phone records i was able to go into the elementary school and take a look at

00:57:28surveillance video from the time where the purse was dropped off and now i see christine melton's car
00:57:36in the same spot where diane ruiz's purse was located i also obtained gps and longitude latitude
00:57:45coordinates for every spot that her phone was pinging diane's phone had traveled a lot within her
00:57:53neighborhood and then had traveled west on pine island road pine island road is a lot of vacant lots
00:58:05a lot of trees bushes wooded areas that you could potentially hide a body if you wanted to
00:58:14i had believed that diane ruiz's body was somewhere located along pine island road we had canines out
00:58:23searching for her we had side-by-side atvs out looking for her squad cars you name it everybody was

00:58:35out looking for her we had a lot of people who were out looking for her we had a lot

00:58:41within i would say about two and a half days of searching wade wilson's dad had another
00:58:47conversation with him while he was in the lee county jail

01:02:36all of the officers at our police department was still searching the pine island corridor
01:02:44two of our officers had taken a break from searching and they were having lunch
01:02:52in a vacant field while they were having lunch one of our officers noticed a buzzard in the sky in

01:03:07the buzzard ended up landing in a vacant field next to some pepper bushes
01:03:13buzzards are attracted to decomposing flesh
01:03:19so the officer went into the pepper bushes in this vacant lot
01:03:26and that's where he had located the body of diane ruiz
01:03:36when the medical examiner had responded to the scene diane ruiz had some marks on her body that looked
01:03:44like tire marks however it was really hard to tell from the naked eye any cause of death
01:03:52while we were on scene i get a phone call saying hey wade wilson wants to talk to you

01:05:27still alive and pushed her out of the park and um she tried to get out of her random vehicle

01:05:34was not wanted anymore

01:05:43while talking with him he's got really dark eyes
01:05:48it's almost like that there was just like nothing there there was no remorse

01:07:32cave crawl police tonight are confirming they consider wade wilson who's in custody
01:07:36seen here in a court appearance yesterday a person of interest in the deaths of both these women
01:07:42i started watching the news and my heart dropped like it had to have been someone else

01:08:19a couple of months later we were able to get dna confirmation for both diane ruiz and christine
01:08:26melton wade wilson's dna was recovered from both crime scenes and we were able to confirm that wade wilson
01:08:36sexually assaulted diane ruiz after he killed her
01:08:42grand jury officially indicted wade wilson on two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of
01:08:47ruiz and another woman christine melton both women were killed within hours of each other in cape
01:08:53coral last month these two women were preyed upon by the defendant and their murders impacted their
01:09:00families and shook our community the grand jury indictment comes out and the public is very
01:09:07interested in this case the media attention grew and grew and grew over time this is not what we're
01:09:16used to this type of just absolute random violence some people made a little bit of a weird connection
01:09:22between wade wilson and cape coral and wade wilson the anti-hero also known as deadpool
01:09:30some people were calling him the deadpool killer using it in headlines saying the
01:09:35deadpool killer is going to trial anytime we would have court he'd be on the news and people would see
01:09:41his face and so women started writing him women started reaching out to him i did a public records
01:09:48request for wade wilson's visitor log there were hundreds of kiosk calls from women thank you for using gtl

01:10:18well maybe that sounds like a good idea
01:10:22during the time period up to the trial wade wilson is changing his appearance while he's
01:10:28in jail including adding tattoos on his face and head such as a swastika this grabs media attention of
01:10:37course and it just caused a media sensation wade wilson wade wilson wade wilson wade wilson's
01:10:43he's receiving an interesting number of messages from the outside three thousand nine hundred and three
01:10:48messages since june 12th of this year
01:10:56he ate it up he loved it every time he'd come to court he'd look look behind and see who
01:11:03was there
01:11:03watching him he gained a following from all over the world that went on email writing campaigns for him
01:11:13and started gofundme pages for him and he started collecting money basically for brutally killing two
01:11:22young women you know they say they say that i'm the most sought after in me in the world right

01:11:35the attention was very upsetting to the families
01:11:39to just think that women could be attracted to and giving attention to this man that really was a monster
01:11:46and who upended their lives that was a really difficult thing to deal with
01:11:59i think one thing about this case that stands out is how justice can't be served without people that
01:12:07are willing to come in and testify you know someone by the name of wade wilson yes ma'am how

01:12:12wade wilson he's my son how old were you when you found out you were going to be his father

01:13:11someone who was so dangerous and because of that we were able to do what we did
01:13:15we the jury finds the defendant is guilty of first-degree murder there are certain people
01:13:23who i i'll say it they are poster children for the death penalty and wade wilson is one of them
01:13:30so our goal from the minute we knew what he had done to these two women was to receive a
01:13:37death penalty

01:13:40he killed for the sake of killing that's what he wanted to do and that's why he did it i

01:13:45think there was any ounce of remorse whatsoever the totality of the circumstances warrants that the
01:13:50defendant wade stephen wilson be sentenced to death for each count first degree murder
01:13:55count one first degree murder of christine melton the defendant is hereby sentenced to death count
01:14:01four first degree murder of diane ruiz the defendant is hereby sentenced to death

01:14:21so i filed a complaint against the palm beach county sheriff's office for not thoroughly investigating my
01:14:28sexual assault the palm beach county sheriff's office did do an internal affairs investigation
01:14:35at the end of the report they did find that detective potter did not do a thorough investigation
01:14:40on the sexual assault of kelly matthews detective potter was supposed to be suspended for three weeks but
01:14:46he ended up only being suspended for two weeks
01:14:53so
