00:00Just because of your TV interview and the Boat incident,
00:03it turns out you said that he was actually injured.
00:06No, not injured.
00:08He had a cramp before that, three minutes where he went to the floor,
00:13and then I had contact with him and he said that it was enough,
00:18so that's why I took him off.
00:21Clearly the Boat incident stood out and there was Boos at the end as well.
00:24Yeah.
00:26No, I said it I think in the same interview,
00:28it makes complete sense if you take a player off that's playing well,
00:31that assisted, that people don't expect you to take that player off,
00:36which wasn't my intention to do.
00:40But he's a good player,
00:42but I don't think he's at the level yet to play at 60 or 50 per cent
00:46to then make the difference.
00:47But maybe the fans have a different opinion,
00:50they think that he would have been able to play at this level at 50 per cent,
00:55or 60 per cent, no matter what percentage it is,
00:57but not being fit enough anymore to sprint and to make your actions.
01:02So, yeah, if you don't know that and you feel like,
01:05why is he taking him off?
01:07Then I understand that reaction.
01:09I knew the moment his number went up, but that would have been the reaction.
01:12But that's not the reason then not to do it and keep a player in the team
01:15that tells me he cannot continue.
01:20And after the game I think it also makes sense,
01:22because I don't think this club should be happy with a 1-1 result against Chelsea.
01:27We always aim for a win and if we don't win then we're disappointed,
01:31and especially in a season where we haven't won a lot
01:34or not as much as people expect us to do,
01:36then it's just building up frustration.
01:41And that came out probably after half-time,
01:43but I think the players and myself had the same frustration as the fans.
01:48Marnie, you off to the dream start with the only goal.
01:50It felt like they had a team to back off and slow the game down
01:54against a team that was so boldly before them.
01:57Is that what you told them to do?
01:59Yeah.
02:00I said after we scored the 1-0 and then we got a big chance for the 2-0,
02:04didn't you see me screaming off the sideline,
02:06go back, go back, defend your own box, defend your own box?
02:09Are you really thinking this is a serious dilemma?
02:11Of course it's not the idea for us to back off.
02:14We wanted to keep going,
02:15but we played against a team that got more and more comfortable on the ball.
02:20They didn't have any wingers available,
02:22so they had a lot of midfielders,
02:23so they controlled the midfield and started passing through us more and more.
02:27Which didn't lead to a lot of chances,
02:29but they were by far the dominant team in the game.
02:33And it was difficult to change that during the first half,
02:37but I think you might have noticed as well,
02:40apart from other things you've noticed,
02:41that at half-time we changed things
02:43that didn't lead to straight away what we wanted,
02:46because three minutes afterwards we conceded the 2-1,
02:49which was good for us flexing the offside.
02:51But then afterwards we were much more able to press them high,
02:56to keep them on their half.
02:57Not perfect because they were still a few times able to play through us,
03:00but not as much as in the first half.
03:01So that was the adjustment we made at half-time,
03:05which helped us being the more dominant team in the second half.
03:10But not able to score, we were twice close.
03:13But I think it's not fair to me that anyone could ever think that I tell my players to back
03:22off
03:22and to drop down and not to press them.
03:25Either you haven't seen my teams playing last season and a large part of this season,
03:29let alone since I'm a manager.
03:33But it did look like that, that we dropped down,
03:36but that was never the intention that was in this situation,
03:40us not being able to control all the midfielders.
03:58Yes, because usually frustrations come from losing more than we want,
04:03and losing more than we want is never a good thing, that's always a problem.
04:06So yeah, it's not ideal,
04:09but I think I felt the support towards the players throughout the whole game.
04:14Of course there were moments where they showed that they would love to see something else,
04:18but they weren't the only ones.
04:19I'm 100% sure the players on the pitch would have shown a different face,
04:22and me on the side would have loved us to show a different face as well.
04:26But sometimes, and we're not the only team,
04:29sometimes you play against teams that can have a certain spell in the game as well,
04:33a good spell in the game.
04:34And then you have to defend, which I think we did,
04:37because in that part they didn't create a lot of chances.
04:40But as so many times this season, as last week, the same,
04:44we conceded a set-piece,
04:45and that made the difference in not only not feeling nice
04:49that we were not controlling the game,
04:51but even adding the set-piece to that,
04:52and then of course it's very negative.
04:55But the second half was different from our side,
05:00similar than the first ten minutes maybe.
05:03But I think it's also one of our problems,
05:06that when we are the better team we are not able to score.
05:11So it's not only the spell where the other team is better that we then concede,
05:16maybe it's a bigger problem that if we are the better team on the pitch
05:19that we are not able to find the second goal.
05:21The good thing between now and last week is that last week
05:23when we were the better team on the pitch we conceded a goal,
05:26and now at least we got a draw where we are not happy with.
05:30Let that be clear.
05:32Do you know what, Konate's problem was,
05:35did you expect anyone else back?
05:42Konate, we always have to wait and see.
05:44The way he limped off, he told me it was cramp,
05:49but let's hope he's right in his adjustment.
05:56But yeah, we have to wait and see tomorrow how he feels and how that will work out.
06:00I think Mo is close to returning, Ali is close to returning.
06:04With Flo we have to wait and see how he's recovering after what he has.
06:11Do we have other players that might come back?
06:13No, I don't think so.
06:18There's obviously a bit of a difference between the fans online and the stadium,
06:22but maybe when the fans in the stadium start showing frustration
06:26that it can be a bit harder to convince them.
06:29Do you still have full confidence that you can get all of those fans back on time?
06:33Yeah, I do. Not this season, by the way.
06:36This season they will have their opinion and it will not change,
06:39but if we can have the summer that we are planning to have,
06:44then I'm 100% convinced that we will be a different team next season than we are now.
06:51Different in terms of results, different in how things look.
06:56But it's not always that simple because sometimes you know what you have to do,
07:00but it's not always possible to also get exactly what you want.
07:04But for us, for me, it's really clear what we are lacking this season.
07:11And we're trying with the players we are having now,
07:15because one of the things we are lacking is players that are fit.
07:19But the players that we have available now, I think, again, like last week,
07:24like this week, showed in the second half that they want to give everything and try to push.
07:28But it was not enough last week and it wasn't enough this week to find that goal,
07:34which we maybe deserved if you looked at where the game was played,
07:38because for me the game was mainly played in the second half on their half,
07:41and that is what we've seen a lot of times this season.
07:45But we've also seen a lot of times this season that being the dominant team
07:48doesn't lead to chance after chance after chance.
07:52Michael and Adam, last one.
07:54Just on that point, there have been a lot of frustrating home games this season.
08:00Away games as well, but also home games, yeah.
08:02Particularly in terms of winning the fans,
08:04but on the best point, it's not the top of the game,
08:06the game is incredibly late.
08:07How important is that going into the next season?
08:10Do you somehow have a wrestle-back control of those games,
08:13and how is there supposed to push your will?
08:16No, I think it's so simple.
08:18What the fans want to see, what I want to see,
08:20what everyone wants to see is a team that creates chances from ball possession.
08:24And that's not what we are doing enough.
08:26If you simply look at the difference between the goals scored last season and this season,
08:30it's an enormous gap.
08:31The goals conceded is not so much difference between this and last season,
08:35but the goals scored is the biggest difference between this and last season.
08:43I think if the same fans see a similar type of game,
08:48but then it leads to more chances,
08:51they would be much more happy with what they are seeing.
08:54First of all, because they see more chances.
08:56Usually when you get more chances you score more,
08:58and that leads to a win.
08:59And we all know, I know now for being solo in football,
09:03that judging a performance is mainly also done by results.
09:10And maybe last season I think we played a quite similar game against Chelsea,
09:14but the difference was that we last season found many times a way to score a goal,
09:20which we are struggling with this season.
09:22And that's just when you look at our goal scorers this season,
09:26and you compare it to last season,
09:28that's a massive difference.
09:48What was the English word for that?
10:02I would love to show them something else,
10:06but at this moment of time we are not enough able to.
10:10What we are able to do is to be the dominant team,
10:12to have more than the other team, the ball,
10:16as has happened so many times this season.
10:19And I want to give them much more to be positive about,
10:23or happy about, and I am 100% sure the team wants the same.
10:28But as I said many times now, ball possession is one thing,
10:31but to generate chances of that.
10:33Second half last week everybody was probably really positive about the second half,
10:36but from open play we did not create one chance.
10:40And then we scored two goals and then everybody is much more positive.
10:43But we had 60% ball possession at Old Trafford,
10:46which apart from City who has a bit more ball possession than us.
10:50But it's not my idea to like ball possession.
10:53I like to create chances, I like to create and score goals.
10:56And I know what we need to get that done.
11:00And I think this club, last season and all the seasons before,
11:04can show all of you what you need to bring ball possession to chances.
11:09because that has happened so many times here,
11:12which what you need for that.
11:15And we haven't produced that enough this season.
