00:04You
00:05But you look so hot running down that field with those flags flying from your belt
00:09It was the flags you were supposed to grab not me. Oh like this
00:19Wow look at that
00:23Did you do all of this I did
00:27Samantha this is beautiful
00:29I know June hasn't had a real home in years, and I just wanted to make sure it was a
00:33nice Thanksgiving for her
00:35Oh
00:39Showers before hugs. Yeah, yeah fair enough. Yeah
00:47Parents
00:54I'm so glad you suggested coming here for dinner
00:57So many new takes on the traditional Thanksgiving menu
01:00Yeah, well, I'm glad you were up for it
01:02And this way we can focus on one another instead of spending the whole day cooking and cleaning
01:06Oh, how you spoil we feel here today and forever
01:12Mr. and Mrs. Dupree. Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful Thanksgiving to you too, Eugene
01:18Happy Thanksgiving allow me to escort you both to the table, please
01:27Why in the world would the Dupree's be here?
01:30Don't they have a chef at home who could whip up a feast for them?
01:32Yeah, but they always give Rowena Thanksgiving day off to be with our own family
01:36You know and coming here to the club is their tradition
01:40What's the matter love?
01:41I was just thinking we're such a smaller group this year
01:45Yes
01:47But for the best possible reason
01:50Our grandchildren have all found love
01:52Just one more thing to be thankful for
01:55Last Thanksgiving, I wasn't fully divorced so you and I couldn't spend it here
02:00But now we can and that's what counts
02:03Bill
02:04You knew that your ex and her family would be here and you brought me here anyway?
02:09Why? Why would you do that?
02:12And what are you thinking now?
02:14Well, I was thinking the things to be grateful for are piling up
02:20Thankfully, Bill is our former son-in-law and he is sitting way over there and not over here
02:32Happy Thanksgiving, Isaiah. You're looking dapper
02:35Have a seat
02:37Thank you. Thank you
02:38Happy Thanksgiving, Mr. and Mrs. Dupree
02:40I appreciate the invite
02:41Please
02:43Just call us Anita and Vernon
02:47Honestly, Haley, I didn't realize it would be such an issue
02:51We've been living behind these gates nearly a year now
02:53We've managed to co-exist
02:56Okay
02:57If you're uncomfortable, we can go somewhere else
03:00It's fine
03:02We're here now
03:04Might as well stay
03:05Stop
03:06That's right
03:07Thank you
03:34You can read it
03:35It's
03:46Mmm! It smells incredible in here. Like, extra incredible.
03:51That is Orphegene's famous fried turkey.
03:55Your mouth is watering now. Your taste buds are going to be dancing in it.
03:59I guarantee you it's the best you've ever had.
04:01I don't think I've ever had fried turkey.
04:04Oh, you're in for a treat.
04:06I'm stoked to be spending our first Thanksgiving together anyway.
04:10And I also get that this is a tough day for you. Your first Thanksgiving without Nicole.
04:18Nicole, I'm sure you've met Jacob's brother, Isaiah.
04:22Yes, we met way back. My kids told me that they ran into you. Thank you.
04:28It's good to have you back again.
04:30Oh, thank you. Thank you. Will Martin and Kat be here?
04:32Uh, no. Martin is, uh, celebrating Thanksgiving at home with his family, and Kat is out of town with her
04:39boyfriend.
04:40Yeah, Tomas. He helped me with my employment contract. Seems like a nice guy.
04:45Kat is fond of him.
04:47Will Vanessa be joining us?
04:48No, she told me to tell you thank you for thinking about her, but she did make other plans.
04:53Oh. Well, I'm glad she won't be alone her first Thanksgiving without Doug.
04:58Where are the twins? They didn't come home from Banneker?
05:00She went up there to have an early Thanksgiving with them, but she is back now.
05:05Well, I should have known not to worry about Vanessa's social calendar.
05:08She has so many clients and connections.
05:11I'm sure she was just swatting away all kinds of invitations.
05:19Hello?
05:23Well, your timing is impeccable.
05:27Dinner's almost ready, and this Riesling is perfectly chilled.
05:33When you invited me to eat with you at Uptown, I assumed we'd have a room full of company.
05:38Uptown is closed for the holiday.
05:42It just seemed like such a waste to have that big, beautiful kitchen go unused.
05:49So I spoke to the owner.
05:50A friend of yours?
05:52No doubt.
05:53And today we have the whole place to ourselves.
05:56Impressive.
05:58Well, you've been hinting that you wanted to sample my cooking, so today is your lucky day.
06:04Joey Armstrong, you are one man who never ceases to amaze me.
06:09That's the idea.
06:17I could have sworn I saw the slivered almonds in here.
06:20Oh, I put them in the cabinet.
06:22I had to sneak a few before you put them all in the green bean casserole.
06:27Oh, I see them.
06:28Yeah.
06:29Oh, I left the casserole for last, but I promise it'll be ready the same time the turkey's done.
06:35Oh!
06:36I miss cooking with you.
06:38It brings back so many memories.
06:39It does, doesn't it?
06:41Yeah.
06:41Now we get to make new ones.
06:44Your first Thanksgiving hosting in your own place.
06:48Yeah.
06:49I'm excited about it.
06:50I am glad it is just the two of us in Mona.
06:53She'll forgive me for any snafus.
06:55I don't think there'll be any.
06:56All those Friendsgiving dinners you've had over the years.
07:00You've got more experience than you think.
07:02Thanks, Mom.
07:04Oh, Nicole, these are for your tree.
07:06The holidays are upon us, aren't they?
07:09Thank you, sweetheart.
07:11Isaiah.
07:12I'm so glad you could make it.
07:14It's great to see you.
07:16Bro.
07:17I'm glad you came.
07:18You look good, man.
07:19Oh, thank you, big bro.
07:21It's nice to have a place to hang today.
07:23Excuse me.
07:24I'm going to go check in with my dad real quick, okay?
07:28Happy Thanksgiving, Dad.
07:30Haley.
07:31Oh, hey, baby.
07:34You look especially radiant.
07:36Must be because I have so much to be thankful for.
07:39Well, as do I.
07:41Starting with you and your sister.
07:42Since this is the day for it, I will say I am grateful for your improved health since you've
07:47been out of the hospital.
07:48Well, that's all Haley's doing.
07:51She keeps such a close eye on my diet.
07:53Only because I want you around for a long, long time, Bill.
07:57Well, Chelsea and I really do appreciate you looking out for him.
08:01Thank you for saying that, Naomi.
08:03I'd better get back.
08:05It seems like a much smaller gathering than usual.
08:08It is.
08:09You know, Chelsea's with Madison and her family.
08:11Kat is with Tomas.
08:13Martin's family's doing their own thing.
08:14And, of course, Mom and Andre are still in honeymoon mode.
08:17Yeah, well, I know they're back from L.A.
08:19I ran into your mom here yesterday.
08:20Yeah, they're back.
08:21They just wanted to keep to themselves today.
08:24Same as us when we were newlyweds.
08:26Well, we still are, sweetheart.
08:28We still are.
08:31I did not mean to sleep that long.
08:35Must be on L.A. time.
08:38Uh, wife, what are you doing?
08:40Isn't it obvious?
08:41It's Thanksgiving.
08:43I'm cooking.
08:45You know how?
08:56When are we eating?
08:57Um, the turkey has another hour and the bourbon glazed ham is 15 minutes.
09:04Okay, so we'll need, what, about an hour to eat from clean up?
09:09Are you literally counting down the minutes before you can ditch us and hang out with your girlfriend?
09:13Come on, Dad.
09:14This is the only way we get to see each other since her parents made her go to the holiday
09:18brunch.
09:21That'll be June.
09:22All right.
09:26Tyrell, this is your first Thanksgiving with your mom in a long time.
09:30And your last one we'll have together before you go off to college.
09:33So, try not to hurry and rush the moment, okay?
09:42Look, guys, June brought a sweet potato pie over from Orphe jeans for dessert.
09:47How thoughtful.
09:48Thank you so much.
09:49I'll go put this in the kitchen.
09:52Hi, Tyrell.
09:53I pray everything is well.
09:56Yeah, everything's okay.
09:58Happy Thanksgiving.
10:00Oh, here.
10:01Here.
10:06So, it's not the Thanksgiving either one of us is used to having, but let's make it a new kind
10:12of Thanksgiving.
10:13Tell me something about you I don't know.
10:15Like what?
10:17Like, I didn't know you were a basketball fan until you told me the other day.
10:21Did you go up playing?
10:23No.
10:24My big dream was ice skating.
10:26No way.
10:27I loved the Olympics.
10:29Like, I would try to recreate all the jumps and spins in our living room.
10:33One time, I knocked over this table lamp and Alan got so mad.
10:38So, that was the end of that.
10:40But, Mama took the hint.
10:41Then she got me to some classes at the local skating rink.
10:44And, uh, I ate it up.
10:47You know, I can actually picture that.
10:49Little Eva all bundled up on the ice.
10:52How far did you take it?
10:55Um, I dropped it after a while.
10:57Um, it gets to the point where it's all or nothing.
10:59Yeah.
11:01Probably pretty expensive, too, huh?
11:03Dana probably didn't have the time or the money to support your interest in it.
11:08Dad, it's fine.
11:10I was no Star Andrews on the ice.
11:13Sorry, I'm late, you too.
11:16Everybody was going over the river and through the woods at the exact same moment.
11:23No worries.
11:24Traffic is a bear.
11:26Eve and I were just catching up.
11:27Well, we were actually talking about things that we missed out on.
11:32Hmm.
11:32Like holiday celebrations as a family.
11:35Don't worry.
11:36We're making up for lost time now.
11:40We've gone over this a few times, Andre.
11:43After my career, I raised a family.
11:45I can cook.
11:46I know you can make an omelet.
11:49Oh!
11:50But doesn't your family go to the country club every year for Thanksgiving?
11:54I remember going when I was younger with my Uncle Ted and Aunt Nicole.
11:58Have you ever actually roasted a turkey?
12:01Or made a whole feast?
12:03Okay, this will be the first time, but I got very detailed instructions from Rowena.
12:08How hard can it be, really?
12:10I don't know, but hey, I'm all in to pitch in.
12:14Um, I can start by washing some dishes.
12:17Oh, honey, we don't wash dishes by hand.
12:19We use that shiny appliance over there.
12:24So the dishwasher is the dishwasher.
12:26Okay.
12:27My hubby's clever.
12:31Now, what are we doing?
12:33I'm rinsing the bowl.
12:35We don't rinse either.
12:37My buddy Cascade handles all that mess.
12:40Okay.
12:42So I have time for more important tasks.
12:46Like this.
12:50Okay.
12:52All right.
12:53Let's try this.
13:05Thank you, Cascade.
13:10Wait, something's boiling.
13:12My blood when you kiss me like that?
13:14No, something on the stove.
13:16Oh, no.
13:16Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
13:17Okay.
13:18Oh, no, no, no.
13:22That was a close one.
13:24No more distractions.
13:26Keep loading those dishes.
13:27Yes, ma'am.
13:29Yes, ma'am.
13:30Um, you know, I still remember when my granny got her first dishwasher.
13:36Oh.
13:37Yeah, she used the bottom rack to store her pots and pans.
13:40She used the top for drying her dishes that she'd already washed by hand.
13:44Yeah, I actually snapped a black and white photo of her nontraditional dishwasher use.
13:48The one first place at the church for that year.
13:50So granny never ran the dishwasher?
13:57Uh, she came around eventually.
14:00Even taught me the proper way to load it.
14:02But for years, she was convinced that nothing could wash her dishes like she could.
14:06Well, there is nothing like granny's love.
14:08But I can't imagine being stuck in a sink washing dishes all day.
14:11I use every shortcut at my disposal.
14:18Yeah.
14:19Okay.
14:20So.
14:23You can do it.
14:24All right.
14:25Place this here.
14:26Mm-hmm.
14:27Mm-hmm.
14:28Mm-hmm.
14:29Mm-hmm.
14:33There.
14:34Dishes done.
14:36Next.
14:38Next what?
14:39Give me something to do, Leanne.
14:41To blanch or to praise.
14:43How do you know these words?
14:45You hang around some of the best chefs in the world after fashion shows and you learn a few things.
14:50And because I can cook.
14:51Yes, you can.
14:54I mean, I can cook cook in the kitchen.
14:56Oh!
14:57Well, the more the merrier.
14:59The turkey's in the oven, but everything else is up for grabs.
15:02Okay.
15:02So what are my options?
15:03Well, I decided to keep the menu simple.
15:05So, uh, candy diams, cornbread, dressing, collard, sweet potato pie.
15:11Danny.
15:12And love.
15:15All right.
15:17For you, I have spatchcocked the turkey, prepared pomade du chaise, oyster stuffing, and a pumpkin brulee for dessert.
15:34Those aren't tears, are they?
15:37It's just been a while since anyone went to this much effort to make me happy.
15:42How long?
15:44I can't remember the last time.
15:47Well, that is a crime.
15:52You do realize the only reason I waited is because I knew you were still grieving, right?
15:58I never want to pressure you.
16:01I'm grateful you're in my life.
16:04And Thanksgiving seemed like the perfect excuse to pull out all the stops.
16:10But if it were up to me,
16:13every day would be a holiday.
16:25What's so funny?
16:27Um, Chelsea is spending Thanksgiving with her girlfriend's family.
16:31Madison and her mom have been estranged, but my ever-optimistic sister is pushing for them to make things work.
16:38A lot of parent-kid tips happen in these days, huh?
16:42Anyway, turns out Madison's mom is vegan.
16:44They are eating cauliflower steak right now.
16:47That seems like a contradiction in terms.
16:51Mashed rutabaga with dairy-free cheese sauce and a kale and beet salad.
16:57The things we do for love.
17:00But you gotta give her credit.
17:02She's got the strength of her convictions.
17:04Agreed.
17:05I am very proud of our granddaughter for putting her taste buds where her mouth is.
17:10Something like that.
17:12Well, there are a few vegan options on the menu today in case you want to stand in solidarity with
17:15Chelsea.
17:16Oh, well, Chelsea can live in her truth and I will live in mine.
17:20Now pass the butter.
17:23So, I thought I could get a few interior designers to come up with ideas
17:27and then choose the one whose designs really blow me away.
17:31I know a lot of people have used Quentin Tate, but maybe we want a woman's touch?
17:36So I'm thinking I could contact Keonda Powell and just...
17:46Bill, I don't know why you did this to yourself.
17:49And don't give me that look.
17:51You know exactly what I mean.
17:53We've discussed how much it bothers you that the Dupree's treat you like an outsider now,
17:57but what did you think would happen?
17:59That they'd invite you to pull up a chair to their table?
18:03I did not expect that.
18:05And I didn't want it.
18:06I was just, I don't know, distracted by all the commotion.
18:10Now, tell me more about Kiera Powell.
18:15Kionda Powell.
18:16Right.
18:17That's what I said.
18:21My famous collard and mustard greens.
18:27Mm-hmm.
18:28Mm-hmm.
18:29It really smells good.
18:31I'm so glad you could be here.
18:33I know how many invitations you get.
18:35That's right.
18:37It's my tradition.
18:38Here for Thanksgiving, but I make sure to go home for Christmas.
18:43Still, I wouldn't have gone to anyone else's for dinner.
18:46I like the way you two celebrate.
18:48No loud football games.
18:50Just quiet conversation.
18:53With good people and good food.
18:57And good tips for the best deals online.
18:59That's right.
19:01I brought my tablet.
19:01Okay.
19:02Add my shopping list so we can map out our Black Friday strategy.
19:08I have never understood how you could be so organized about Christmas shopping.
19:12I have to wander and pick what strikes me.
19:15Not this year, friend.
19:16I'll show you how.
19:18I keep a spreadsheet to keep track of all my Christmas gifts for friends and family, including
19:24gifts from previous years so I don't accidentally repeat myself.
19:28And this is the sweet tea that you told Mom you liked?
19:32You remember.
19:33Of course I did.
19:36And it's just the three of us today, right?
19:39You didn't invite Leslie, did you?
19:40I didn't, although the thought did cross my mind, but I wouldn't have put you in that
19:45position.
19:46Well, damn.
19:48The chef put both feet and a hand up in this meat.
19:52You ain't never lied.
19:54Who knew that fried turkey could still be so juicy?
19:57They got a delicious looking sweet potato pie, too.
20:00And a combo.
20:02Okay, I don't think I can even handle anything else right now.
20:06Me either.
20:08Well, if you change your mind, you can go along with me later.
20:10Some Martins for dessert, huh?
20:12Really, Dad?
20:14Thanks for including me.
20:16Martin understands your plumber family now.
20:19So much can change in six months.
20:23Will Kat be there?
20:25I don't want to cause more tension between her and Martin.
20:29Kat went out of town with Phil Moss.
20:34Oh.
20:36I knew she didn't want to join us for today's meal, but leaving town altogether just so she
20:40wouldn't want to run into me.
20:42Things haven't changed that much in six months.
20:45But be thankful that you at least have a chance to spend time with your brother and your niece
20:50and your nephew without worrying about Kat being a tantrum.
20:56Right.
20:56And can you please tell Martin thank you for the kindness?
21:00I really appreciate it.
21:02But I did have a prior commitment.
21:06Yeah.
21:07I'm going to the hospital to visit Peaches.
21:09Hmm.
21:10But maybe next time.
21:12Mm-hmm.
21:15Ha-ha!
21:16See?
21:18Perfectly peeled garlic.
21:20Impressive.
21:20So no more talk about how I don't know what I'm doing in the kitchen.
21:24Okay.
21:24I stand corrected.
21:25Mm-hmm.
21:26Ha!
21:27Oh, no.
21:27Fire extinguisher.
21:28Where's your fire extinguisher?
21:29Under the sink.
21:29Oh.
21:31Here, here, here.
21:32Okay.
21:33Oh, my God.
21:34I got it.
21:34I got it.
21:35Watch out.
21:35Watch out.
21:35Watch out.
21:36Watch out.
21:37Watch out.
21:39Watch my counters.
21:42The marble!
21:48So tell me about your visit with the kids.
21:51Are they okay?
21:52Deanna isn't ready to come home yet.
21:54Seems like she may never be.
21:57I even offered to sell the house if it would make things less painful, but she didn't want
22:01me to do that either.
22:03Ooh.
22:04Daughters need their mothers.
22:06I'm sorry she's staying away.
22:09She's just so lost right now, and I have no idea what it'll take to make her feel better.
22:14She seems like the sensitive type, but I suspect that Donnell is looking after her.
22:20I'm actually surprised how much closer they've gotten.
22:23They used to bicker something serious as kids.
22:26It's a relief they've gotten past that.
22:28I'm just happy that she has her brother there with her.
22:33You're all still tender from what happened.
22:38You've learned how quickly life can change.
22:41We certainly have.
22:44I want to make you feel safe.
22:47Not too safe.
22:48I know you're like a little free zone of excitement to keep things interesting.
22:52You really know me, don't you?
22:56I like to think so.
22:58And you don't judge me for what or who I am?
23:02Not at all.
23:05How did I get so lucky?
23:07Luck is my business.
23:09Well, I have to check on the dinner.
23:12It'll all help.
23:13No, you won't.
23:14You'll stay there.
23:15Today, you don't lift a finger.
23:22Isaiah, it's nice to see you again.
23:26Looks like you pulled it off.
23:28Pulled what off?
23:29Your transition from black sheep to respected member of society.
23:34You're talking about me hanging with the Dupree's.
23:36Sounds like a reality TV show.
23:38The fact is, I'm a guest.
23:40And that's only because of my brother, Jacob.
23:42They're willing to give me the benefit of the doubt.
23:44I was in that position once.
23:46Family friend.
23:48Naomi's very best.
23:50Then you traded that friendship in for something you wanted more.
23:53What can I say?
23:55I'm a fool for love.
23:57You're hardly a fool.
23:59You got that right.
24:01I'll see you around.
24:09I didn't want to leave without wishing all of you a happy Thanksgiving.
24:13We have so much to be thankful for this year.
24:16We were all just agreeing how blessed we are that Chelsea came home safe and sound from that horrendous ordeal.
24:23Amen to that.
24:25And Jacob, I haven't forgotten about how much I owe you, Martin and Kat, for helping find my baby girl
24:31and bringing her home.
24:32None of us have forgotten.
24:35We pulled together as a family.
24:37The way it should be.
24:40Hey, we were just counting our blessings.
24:44As we should.
24:45I'm sure you must all be so happy for Danny.
24:48We certainly are.
24:50But please don't let us hold you from your own family celebration.
24:55Like I was saying, before it gets too late and Tyrell literally runs out of here,
25:01I want to take a moment to express some gratitude.
25:04Samantha, you want to go first and say something you're thankful for?
25:07Sure, Dad.
25:09I am grateful for that ham, the cheesy mac and cheese, the turkey, the green beans.
25:16Really, Samantha?
25:18What I'm being for real, the food slaps.
25:21Okay, but okay.
25:22I am grateful that you guys are making sure that I don't grow up too fast.
25:29If you repeat that, I will deny it.
25:31Oh, that's sweet, Samantha.
25:33Tyrell, you want to go?
25:35Yeah, beat that, bro.
25:38I'm grateful for Jessica.
25:40We didn't meet under the best circumstances, but we've gone to a real place.
25:45I think I might be falling in love with her.
25:47Wow.
25:48Love.
25:49Really.
25:50I am grateful for a healthy family and going back to work.
25:56It feels amazing to do what I love again.
25:59And I love that for you too, babe.
26:02I am so grateful for all of you at this table.
26:07I am happy to be back home, to be present, to see you grow and become.
26:14And it's priceless.
26:16And I love you all very, very much.
26:22Oh, June, you don't have to say anything if you don't want.
26:26Are you kidding me?
26:28This is all I ever wanted, is to see my children being loved and cared for in this way.
26:38Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it.
26:42This is more than I ever could have imagined.
26:48Thank all of you.
26:49And thank you, baby, for sitting me in between the two of you.
27:04No, no, no, no, no, no, no, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
27:08Oh, gosh.
27:09I got it.
27:10All right.
27:11Okay.
27:12Ah.
27:13You know what?
27:14Um, I am totally in the mood for Chinese food.
27:17Anyway, babe, you don't have to try to impress me.
27:21This isn't about dazzling you with my culinary prowess.
27:25It's about making a special day for you.
27:29You don't say it much, but I know you miss your parents and your family traditions.
27:35Danny, it's been a long time since-
27:37No, wait.
27:39I know I drew a line in the sand about you spending the day with your Uncle Ted.
27:44I took something important away.
27:47This piece of home, of extended family that you still have, and I just wanted to do something
27:53that would make up for that.
27:55I just want this place to feel like home, too.
28:01Look, I don't mind seared.
28:04Let's just see, is it still tender on the inside?
28:10Careful.
28:12Okay.
28:13Let's see.
28:29Let's see.
28:30You know,
28:33Ava, your new friend Isaiah is friendly with your brother Martin.
28:38Really?
28:39Mm-hmm.
28:41Yeah, I saw them chatting at Uptown the other day.
28:45So Martin probably won't mind if you invite Isaiah for dessert, too.
28:51That's a good idea.
28:53I don't think Martin would mind.
28:54Um, actually, Isaiah is with family today.
28:57Oh, I'm glad to hear that.
29:00Got into quite a rift between Isaiah and Elon.
29:02They got in a hell of a fight at Jacob and Naomi's wedding.
29:05Glad they put that behind them.
29:08Jacob and Naomi know Isaiah?
29:12I don't know why I assumed you knew that.
29:15Oh, it's funny how that has never come up in any of our conversations about him.
29:25Uh, excuse me, you two.
29:26I need to get a pie before they are sold out.
29:28I cannot show up to Martin's in the end.
29:36Okay, I didn't tell you who he's related to because I didn't want you judging him.
29:43Yeah?
29:43Like, how his family is anyway.
29:45Oh, you mean like him being from a family of cops?
29:50Including an older brother who is determined to throw me under the jail and not to mention
29:56a father who just happens to be the chief of police.
29:59Okay, but he's nothing like them, just like Dad said.
30:04Don't fret, little girl.
30:06I don't have a problem with Isaiah coming from a family of cops.
30:10I mean, it could even work in our advantage.
30:16Connections with a police force.
30:20Hmm.
30:20Now see, that could come in very handy.
30:25You spent the entire morning prepping and cooking this meal and I gobbled it up in minutes.
30:30Well, that's quite the compliment.
30:32I couldn't help myself.
30:33It was exquisite.
30:35In presentation and in taste.
30:38Joey, you are a wonder.
30:40Well, thank you.
30:42And no apologies necessary.
30:44I did this for you to enjoy.
30:47I'm just glad you did.
30:50Have you ever thought about opening a restaurant?
30:55Why are you laughing?
30:57I'm being serious.
30:58I know you're being serious.
30:59That's why I'm laughing.
31:01You see, everything is an investment opportunity.
31:03I honestly think you could make a fortune.
31:05Yeah, I could lose one, too.
31:08That is an incredibly volatile business.
31:11It takes a monumental investment up front and then an incredible amount of time.
31:16You're lucky just to break even.
31:18Didn't you just say luck is your business?
31:21I'll keep my luck and my shirt.
31:23Thank you very much.
31:25Sounds like someone needs to remember how much fun losing their shirt can be.
31:43Shall we?
31:46Wait, but I always like to hear Vernon's toast.
31:49Oh, you've got to be kidding me.
31:52I'm going to start by addressing you, Isaiah, because you are the newest member of the fold
31:59to join us at this table on this special day.
32:03Welcome.
32:05Anita and I take time every day to practice gratitude.
32:12There's a Bible verse that we return to again and again, which says,
32:18rejoice always, rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances.
32:27I admit that can be a little confusing.
32:30How are you supposed to give thanks in all circumstances?
32:35What about the terrible ones?
32:39But I am here to attest that my many years on this earth have taught me the sacred power
32:47of gratitude.
32:50And even if you live through crushing disappointments, you can be grateful for the love of those who
33:00lift you up.
33:04Someone who has felt the agony of a broken heart can be thankful that they still have the capacity
33:11to laugh and find joy in the small pleasures in life.
33:18People who have suffered terrible losses can be comforted and feel the hope that their hearts
33:25will heal and that they can love again.
33:29Those of us who have known isolation and loneliness, estrangement or alienation, can feel gratitude
33:38for the lessons it teaches us, compassion and the willingness to reach out to others who
33:46have been marginalized.
33:51Someone who has failed, maybe over and over again, can find the strength to pick themselves
33:59up, to persevere and to chart a new path.
34:04Those of us who are ashamed of our mistakes can realize it's never too late to ask for forgiveness
34:12and be redeemed.
34:15That's something to be thankful for.
34:19Amen to forgiveness and redemption.
34:24And then there are days when it's easy to be thankful, and thank God, this is one of them.
34:30This family is overflowing with love and blessings.
34:35Let us pray that we not only appreciate that, but we do whatever we can to share those blessings
34:43with those people who need them most.
34:46Happy Thanksgiving, family.
34:48Happy Thanksgiving.
34:50Happy Thanksgiving.
34:58Happy Thanksgiving.
35:00Next, on Beyond the Gates.
35:03I called that number you gave us?
35:06So you're seeking customers at the country club?
35:08I resent being characterized as a pimp.
35:10Okay, madam.
35:12Joey is a dangerous man.
35:13He has me right where he wants me.
35:15You knew the consequences before you chose what you wrought.
35:19Any particular reason why you're tripping with no map?
35:22Yes, and you know just who it is.
35:25I told you over and over that I don't give a damn about their opinions.
35:30What is it, Joey?
35:32Feels like I'm wrapped in a dream.
35:33Someone tastes good.
35:34Did our daughters inherit their complete lack of subtlety from you or from me?
35:38Definitely you.
35:39Ted, this elevator is cursed, okay?
35:43Bye.
35:46Bye.
35:54Bye.
36:02Bye.
36:03Bye.
36:04Bye.
36:04Bye.
36:05Bye.
36:05Bye.
36:08Bye.
36:10Bye.
