00:05Hey MDLers! Best 10 C Dramas based on K-dramas. As a huge fan of Asian dramas, we are addicted
00:12to diving into all sorts of dramas from various Asian entertainment industries and discovering
00:17their various charms and styles of storytelling, production and visual aesthetics. Each country
00:24also takes inspiration from the other and remake famous dramas. Today we present to you 10
00:29Chinese dramas that are based on Korean dramas. Remaking successful and widely loved Korean dramas
00:35has been quite the trend recently in China and we're absolutely loving it. Despite the fact that
00:40the two nations are close in proximity, they vary vastly in culture and aesthetics, which we can see
00:46reflected in the remade dramas. Each drama on this list remains pretty faithful to the original storyline
00:52but all have their own unique touch and that entirely C-drama feeling about them.
00:57Without further ado, let's view these well-done C-dramas based on K-dramas.
01:0310. Love Through a Millennium We open our list with the 2015
01:08remake of Queen Inhyun's Van. Love Through a Millennium follows the original storyline but
01:14adds some catchy twists here and there, but we must admit that it's a pretty good remake.
01:18The drama follows an imperial chef who falls into an assassin's ditch and casts a protection spell
01:25that sends him 2000 years into the future in modern China where he almost gets run over by a vehicle.
01:31But he'll luckily be saved by a drunk no-name actress who introduces herself as Empress Zhu,
01:37the very endangered queen he serves in his time. He keeps using the spell to help and save the Empress
01:43actress by changing some events in the past. With time, romance blooms between them,
01:48but how exactly can their relationship work? Love Through a Millennium delivers the same charming story
01:54and chemistry of the original K-drama, but it definitely has its own touch that makes it so special.
02:059. Pretty Lee Hujian
02:08Is based on the hit K-drama She Was Pretty. As you can probably gauge from the titles,
02:13the drama revolves around a girl who used to be gorgeous, but after her family's company goes
02:18bankrupt, she experiences hardships that make her lose her beauty. On the other end of the spectrum,
02:23we have the male lead who was an ordinary looking guy in the past, but is now witty, successful,
02:29and very likeable. Fate brings them together again, but the female lead is too embarrassed
02:35by the reversed fortune to take courage to even meet him and instead asks her attractive roommate
02:41to assume her identity. Her genius plan has two major flaws. One, he's her boss, and she has to
02:47pretend to be someone else while working with him. Two, the boss falls for her even without knowing her
02:53true identity. The original and the remake dramas are lighthearted, but inspire us to overcome our
03:00insecurities and appreciate people for who they are.
03:088. Midsummer is full of love
03:11Veteran drama fans gather up. This drama is for you. Midsummer is full of love is a 2020 remake of
03:18the mega popular 2004 drama Full House. The story of both dramas revolve around a musician,
03:24despite being tone deaf, aspires to make a splash in the music industry as a songwriter. Despite her
03:30cute looks, she's fiercely independent and strong-minded. One day, during an unfortunate drunken spell,
03:37she signs a power of attorney to give her house to her best friend, who in turn sells it to
03:42pay off her
03:42younger brother's debts. The buyer turns out to be an idol, who comes across a rude, spoiled brat.
03:49Despite his cold exterior, he is actually secretly very childlike and kind of needy. Since our female
03:55lead has nowhere to go, the duo is forced to enter a contract marriage, to ward up gossip and to
04:01live
04:01in the same house on a temporary basis. Can they fall in love with each other despite their clashing
04:06personalities? You bet they will! 7. No Secrets
04:15Number 7 is a remake of the hit K-drama I Hear Your Voice. No Secrets follows the story pretty
04:22nicely,
04:23but splashes in with its own colours. The story starts when a young boy witnesses the death of his
04:28father and almost dies too. But a passerby, a schoolgirl, saves him by photographing the killer
04:35and testifying against him. The boy falls for her and regards her as an ideal girl.
04:40Their fates re-intertwine 10 years later. Law brings them together again. In the present time,
04:46the male lead is a genius law student who can read minds. When he meets his crush again while working
04:52on a case, he sees nothing of the pristine girl he fell for. Instead, he's met with an impulsive,
04:57careless lawyer, but he doesn't think that this version of her is bad either.
05:01When the killer is released from prison, the male lead decides to become the lawyer's guardian angel,
05:06and he perhaps pursues his first love along the way.
05:15Number 6 7 of Me In K-dramaland, Kill Me Heal Me is considered one of the best
05:21dramas of all times. It's only natural that we'd find a remake of it in C-dramaland.
05:267 of Me The drama has many charms, like its intriguing
05:30plotline that revolves around a rich heir to a company who hides a secret from everyone around
05:35him. His secret is, he suffers from dissociative identity disorder. As you can probably guess from
05:41the title, he has seven personalities living inside him. He was sent to the US when he was a child
05:47to
05:47get the needed psychological treatment. Fast forward to the present time, he's recalled back due to his
05:53father's illness. And by a stroke of fate, he meets the female lead who's a psychiatrist at the airport
05:59and persuades her to become his family's doctor. Watch the entertaining drama to see how the psychiatrist
06:05slowly learns that she'll always be bewildered, and maybe charmed too, by him and his seven
06:11personalities. 5. Used For My Talent
06:20Now this drama is fairly recent and fairly popular as well. It's based on the K-drama Clean with a
06:27passion for now. And both are available on Netflix. The dramas tell the love story of the classic cold
06:33hearted CEO with germophobia and an orphaned clumsy but kind girl. However, hate comes before a love
06:41between these two. Since the male lead has an irrational fear of dirt and germs, he panics when others get
06:46too close. And the female lead bumps into him so often that he begins to think that she has a
06:51sinister
06:52motive for trying to get close to him. Coincidence doesn't stop there with them because the girl gets
06:57employed as a cleaner in the CEO's company, and they meet each other more often. He realizes that she
07:02doesn't trigger his disorder like others. Gradually, he falls for her. But how will their love survive
07:08obstacles, varying from company problems to his family's involvement?
07:174. Youth Adapted from the 2016 Korean drama Age of Youth
07:23Number 4 on our list is Youth, a relatable, touching drama that captures the hearts of many
07:29C-drama and even K-drama fans. The 2018 remake is a cheerful and upbeat drama that depicts the university
07:36lives and love lives of five girls who attend the same university and share a house together. Cue the
07:43drama, romance, and most importantly, friendship. They are all vastly different from each other. In
07:49almost everything, each girl has her own personality, style, tastes, and areas of expertise. They also
07:55carry their own problems and burdens, but it gets proven again and again that their friendship goes
08:00above and beyond being flatmates. Youth is actually a change of scene among the usual rom-coms. Despite
08:07its lighthearted vibes, it also has darker themes, as it successfully captures real-life issues such as
08:13depression, abusive relationships, murder, eating disorders, gender norms, and more. One thing for
08:20sure is definitely worth your time. 3. Unknown Number
08:30It may be called Unknown Number, but it's for sure number three on our list. This drama is an
08:37adaptation of the highly acclaimed Korean crime thriller, Signal. The drama follows a hard-working
08:42seasoned detective who's been tirelessly working to find the whereabouts of her lost senior.
08:47A newbie criminal profile, and enters her four-member investigative team, brings our three main
08:53characters together. How? Well, a walkie-talkie from the present time, somehow picks up signals from
09:00the clumsy but dependable detective who is stuck in the past. And so, with the power of foresight and
09:06hindsight, the team takes on the task of resolving impossible cold cases by collecting clues from each
09:12other's timelines in search for the truth to solve crimes, and prevent them from ever taking place
09:18too. Unknown Number has an excellent female lead, and it kept the story clever, surprising and gripping
09:24at every turn. You should definitely check it out if you haven't already.
09:332. Ordinary Glory
09:36Another hit K-drama that the Chinese adapted is Mi Sang, under the name The Ordinary Glory. The
09:42star-studded remake successfully reenacts the slice-of-life K-drama and delivers it beautifully.
09:48The drama features a workaholic team leader in an investment company who has not been promoted
09:53since forever, and a rookie who's just entered the workplace in the financial investment field.
09:59Due to his uncompromising personality, the team manager has a strained relationship with his superior.
10:05The newbie was turned away by multiple employers for having no education background,
10:09nor the experience to make up for it. At first, even the manager isn't willing to train such an
10:15inexperienced intern, though he's taken by surprise when the latter manages to persuade an important
10:21client to stay, putting past misunderstandings behind them. The manager decides to teach the rookie
10:26how to navigate office politics. Together, they end up saving the company from near disaster. You won't
10:39work. 1. In A Class Of Her Own
10:46Struggling to make ends meet in a period of time where women weren't allowed to study or work,
10:51the female lead decides to cross-dress as her sickly brother to provide for her poor family
10:56by writing romance novels with a character inspired by a rebellious man she met one day. Everyone hurries to
11:03buy her attractive novels. She becomes so popular that she attracts the attention of a cunning businessman who
11:09uses her to gain merit. One day, she accidentally takes the prime minister's son's book after bumping
11:14into him. He reads her novel and thinks that she's too smart to be wasting her talents on such a
11:19thing.
11:20He keeps pestering her to study and eventually succeeds in enrolling her in a prestigious school
11:25where the businessman and the rebellious man study too. In A Class Of Her Own is a well-done remake
11:31of the
11:31super popular and love K-drama Sungkywon Scandal that we love for its friendship, romance, and comedy.
