00:20I have no idea how he was cast on a reality show as big as 90 Day Fiance.
00:27He was like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
00:32You didn't know which one you were going to get.
00:35He grabbed me and shoved me, threw me on the ground, strangled me.
00:40I genuinely think he was trying to kill me.
00:44All I see is the abuse when I close my eyes.
00:47It was just not going to stop until he was stopped.
01:07I've never spoken to anyone about this other than the police and my friends and family.
01:14And I just feel like it's time.
01:19Looking back on it, there were so many red flags.
01:25I should have run for the hills.
01:32In 2017, I had just started my teaching job.
01:37I taught third grade.
01:39It was my dream job at my dream school.
01:43And after dating my boyfriend, Corey, through grad school, we ended up breaking up.
01:50He was my best friend, but we just weren't quite sure that that was what we wanted forever.
01:57And then I met Jeffrey in December.
02:06I was scrolling through a dating app and I swiped right on Jeffrey Ian.
02:14He was in his 30s, had dark hair, very good physical build, gorgeous eyes.
02:21And so I sent him the first message and just said hello.
02:26He quickly gave me his number and we were texting.
02:31He was very charismatic, clearly intelligent.
02:36And then we decided to go out on a date.
02:42We went to dinner at a local Mexican restaurant and hit it off right away.
02:49Jeffrey told me he owned several properties on the street where his house is and multiple properties around Knoxville.
02:59He made himself seem like a really successful businessman.
03:04Jeffrey was also at that time working as an actor on these crime shows.
03:10Yeah, I saw the cop cars out front. What's going on?
03:13What is this?
03:13Carlo Druitt.
03:14It's his mom's house.
03:16I thought him being an actor was really cool.
03:18He was the total package.
03:22Jeffrey came on really strong, really hard, really fast.
03:26He would show up at my house with just a trunk full of groceries.
03:33We went to the mall a lot.
03:36I would see a sweater or a scarf and be like, oh, I love that. That's so cute.
03:41And then the next day he would show up at my house with it.
03:45He really just completely swept me off my feet.
03:50Hi, it's Jeffrey. Just giving you a ring there, then checking on you.
03:55Letting you know I'm on my way home.
03:59On our first date, Jeffrey told me about his ex-wife in Canada, Brittany, and his two children with her.
04:08They were two and ten months old.
04:11And Jeffrey had full custody of them.
04:14It was like I became a mom overnight.
04:17They went absolutely everywhere with us.
04:21I was overwhelmed by it at first.
04:24I wasn't really ever sure that I wanted kids of my own.
04:29But oh my gosh, did I fall in love with those boys.
04:34And then a couple weeks after that, right before New Year's Eve, I was staying at his house.
04:43And I went downstairs and there were two teenagers in his living room.
04:48And I'm like, hello, who are you?
04:50We're like, hi.
04:51We're fine.
04:51And he's like, oh, I'm just taking care of these couple of boys for a friend.
04:56The teenage boys would come and go.
04:59And so honestly, I didn't give it much thought.
05:08We were a couple months now into this relationship.
05:12I was walking upstairs at his house and saw a male sitting just on one of the stairs.
05:21And on the male, it said Jeffrey Paschel.
05:24He had told me that his last name was Ian.
05:28And my instant first thought was, is he hiding something?
05:34I confronted him about it when he got home.
05:38He made me feel like I was making a big deal out of nothing.
05:43Ian is my middle name.
05:45You just assumed that Ian was my last name.
05:49And I was like, okay, maybe it isn't a big deal.
05:52And started to even question like, did he tell me his last name was Ian?
05:56Or did I just make this all up in my head?
06:03And then one day, Jeffrey called me from his home phone for some reason.
06:10It was a number I didn't have in my cell phone.
06:13So I let it go to voicemail.
06:17And Googled the number.
06:20And it came up, Alison Paschel.
06:25I'm wondering who Alison Paschel is.
06:28Is it his sister?
06:29Is it his mom?
06:30So I do a search for her name.
06:35And up pops a birth announcement with Alison Paschel and Jeffrey Paschel for their son.
06:47he had made it seem like his children with Brittany were the only children that he had
06:55this was a really big deal to me what else is he trying to hide from me
07:01so I searched Jeffrey's name and I found a whole slew of court cases
07:10about his previous relationships I found domestic assault allegations alleged neglect and abuse of
07:22the children and that he had kept opiates in the house and I was shocked to read that because it
07:30just didn't seem like the person I was dating I also found several marriages I believe four
07:38when he was 18 years old he got married for the first time and that allegedly ended in an annulment
07:46then he married Sabrina then he married Allison
07:55and then he married Brittany
07:58and I found several birth announcements I realized that those two teenagers were his as well that
08:07their mother was Sabrina he had completely lied and bamboozled me I came across mug shots
08:18and criminal charges that included driving while intoxicated assault drug charges and the biggest
08:28one he did some time in federal prison in Texas I was horrified I am a teacher I have never
08:40been in
08:41trouble and now this guy that I'm dating is a felon I have no idea who I'm dating
08:53I confronted him about it
08:58and he made it again seem like it wasn't a big deal like well you never asked how am I
09:06supposed to ask
09:07do you have four ex-wives that you haven't told me about have you been to federal prison before
09:14and then he told me that he wasn't honest about those charges because then I wouldn't have ever
09:20shown any interest in him initially
09:24which is valid I was like yeah you're right I wouldn't have dated you had I known this
09:30and it made me feel tricked and it made me feel trapped
09:34because now I had completely fallen for him
09:40Jeffrey told me that his exes were conspiring against him
09:44that they were just being vindictive and they were just her exes
09:51he had already lied about so much I had every reason not to believe him
09:57but I did anyway because I was completely in love with him
10:08I am Sabrina Grigsby
10:11Jeffrey Pashel's second wife
10:14Jeffrey was like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
10:18you didn't know which one you were going to get
10:21you made my life a living hell
10:25you stole my dreams away
10:36I was 25 when I met Jeffrey
10:39and I went to Halloween party
10:41there he was
10:44Jeffrey was extremely charismatic
10:46that was his thing
10:48I just thought wow
10:49he was wonderful to be around
10:53he was a country boy
10:55but he wanted to be cultured
10:56he wanted to do more
10:59be more educated
11:01Jeffrey wanted a lot of money
11:03and he had big dreams
11:06and that was very intriguing to me
11:11everybody was jealous of the relationship we had
11:16it was just like a whirlwind of fun
11:19and love and laughter
11:21it was very good to me
11:22and it was nice
11:24for a while
11:28we were engaged about seven months
11:32we did have an incident
11:34he got quite upset
11:35I'm not sure even what it was
11:37and he pushed me into the entertainment center
11:41and I fell down
11:43it was a big surprise
11:47it happened so quickly
11:48and so forcefully
11:50I mean
11:50he might be a short fella
11:52but he was pretty strong
11:56I didn't want to even admit to myself
11:58that that happened
12:00I guess that just kept it in my mind
12:02that we were going to have a nice life
12:05I didn't pay attention to the red flags
12:07I was in love
12:11me and Jeffrey had got married
12:13on April Fool's Day
12:151998
12:17Jeffrey talked all the time
12:18about wanting to have at least four kids
12:21come to find out
12:22I had got pregnant with my first child
12:24on our honeymoon
12:27I was so excited
12:28thinking he's going to be the greatest dad
12:30you know
12:32but he changed
12:33almost instantly
12:36he was just a completely different person
12:41very agitated
12:42all the time
12:44anything would just set him off
12:46and I was shoved
12:48hit
12:48horribly screamed at
12:50I was just trying harder and harder
12:52of course thinking I did something wrong
12:57he kicked me a few times
12:59and I was afraid I was going to lose my child
13:01so
13:02I tried to stay quiet
13:04just do what he needed
13:06when he needed
13:08he became horribly controlling
13:11if I stayed up too long
13:13he would turn the power off
13:15completely
13:16in the house
13:16where I had to go to bed
13:20we lived in Greenback
13:21it was in the country
13:22neighbors very far away
13:25I was just very isolated
13:27he shut the phone off
13:30so I had no communication
13:31no vehicle
13:34I couldn't see my mother
13:35my father
13:36my sister
13:36I had no friends
13:38my parents
13:39they were begging me
13:41just come back home
13:44I got to where I was just so sad
13:46all the time
13:48but my grandparents
13:49on both sides
13:50my parents
13:51never divorced
13:53loved one another
13:54through thick and thin
13:55I just really thought
13:57I could do something
13:58that would fix it
14:01then everything would just be alright
14:06it's hard to look at without
14:10being emotional
14:14I could see what I'd probably already been through
14:18I might have been smiling
14:19but my eyes weren't
14:22my eyes look about as sad as they do right now
14:24I bet
14:26cause I just wish I had a ran
14:29took that baby right there
14:30and just went as fast as I could
14:41when we were first getting together
14:44cocaine
14:46that was his thing
14:47he was doing it
14:48he was dealing it
14:50but
14:50at this point
14:52he stopped doing the drugs
14:54and then just really started dealing
14:57he wanted to make more money
15:00that was when it really got excessive
15:05we had a lot of people coming in
15:06out of our house all the time
15:08you could smell it
15:10see it
15:10I always just tried to keep my son
15:12in another room
15:16and then
15:17I was pregnant
15:18with my second child
15:20and he kept telling me
15:21he wasn't doing that anymore
15:23and he was trying to
15:24you know
15:25really get out of that aspect of life
15:27and I thought he had
15:29stopped all of it
15:37he'd taken my vehicle
15:39I just thought he was going to go
15:41pick up his friend in Texas
15:43and bring him back for a visit
15:46and then Jeffrey called me
15:48and informed me
15:50that he had been arrested
15:51for five pounds of pot
15:52and a couple ounces of cocaine
15:54that was really devastating
15:57and
15:59our lives were changed
16:08when Jeffrey first went to prison
16:10I literally still stayed at home
16:12it took a long time
16:14for me to get
16:15out of that feeling
16:15that I could leave the house
16:18that he couldn't hurt me
16:20I didn't have a job
16:22I was dependent on him
16:24and he did leave us some money
16:26and paid the bills up
16:27a little bit
16:29when Jeffrey was in prison
16:31he did write the boys
16:32a lot of letters
16:34he wrote me all the time too
16:37saying that he was sorry
16:39for everything
16:39and that he was excited
16:41to have a new life
16:42with us
16:43and that he was trying
16:45to be a better father
16:46and a better family man
16:49I know this sounds crazy
16:50but I was hopeful
16:51I just kept trying
16:53to have faith
16:53that things would get better
16:55when he came home
17:03but when he was released
17:05from prison
17:06the control was
17:08ten times worse
17:09when you're in there
17:11it's like
17:12the criminals
17:13they learn from one another
17:14and he was just sneakier
17:16his evil was more finely tuned
17:20the abuse was daily
17:22mentally and physically
17:23the sexual abuse
17:25got pretty awful too
17:28just forced to do things
17:29you just don't want to do
17:31the monster definitely was back
17:36finally after the eight years
17:38of marriage
17:38I was going to file for divorce
17:41and he actually beat me to it
17:43when I saw the paper
17:45that he'd filed
17:46before I did
17:46I was ecstatic
17:48I didn't want to be a part
17:50of his life anymore
17:52after the divorce
17:53Jeffrey used the children
17:55to manipulate me
17:57it wasn't like
17:58they were his kids
17:59it was like
17:59they were little pawns
18:00in a chess game
18:02he made my life
18:03a living hell
18:04for the next decade
18:07a few years later
18:08he married Allison
18:11and then Brittany
18:13and then next came Kristen
18:16I prayed for these women
18:18I prayed for them
18:19every night
18:20that they would wake up
18:21and be okay
18:23because I knew
18:24Jeffrey wasn't going to stop
18:33in early March of 2018
18:37Jeffrey's youngest son
18:39with his ex-wife Brittany
18:40passed away
18:44it was very sudden
18:47I had been so in love
18:49with that little boy
18:50and he was like
18:51Jeffrey's little clone
18:54they did a full autopsy
18:56and it was inconclusive
18:58it crushed him
19:01but it did bring us closer together
19:03it was like
19:05we were trauma bonded
19:06over this horrible thing
19:08that had happened
19:08but it was also like
19:11a switch flipped
19:14the sweet side
19:16the caring side
19:17it was gone
19:22he started getting
19:24really volatile
19:27he was explosive
19:29when he was mad
19:32he would pinch me
19:34he would twist my arm
19:35he bent my finger back
19:37what felt like
19:38all the way back
19:39to my hand
19:40little things
19:42to kind of test me
19:44to see
19:45how is she going to react
19:47what is she going to do
19:48and how far can I push this
19:50before she snaps
19:54and then when he saw
19:56how upset I was
19:58he completely turned it on me
20:01and was like
20:02you're so dramatic
20:03just like all my other exes
20:07I didn't tell anyone
20:08that this was happening
20:11no one
20:12no friends
20:13no family
20:14he had already
20:16significantly isolated me
20:18from a lot of my friends
20:20I owned a home in Knoxville
20:22he didn't want me staying there
20:24he wanted me staying at his house
20:26which is out in the country
20:28about 20 or 30 minutes
20:31from Knoxville
20:32where my friends and family
20:34and everyone is
20:42at this point
20:44we had been together
20:45about a year
20:47when the times
20:49were good with Jeffrey
20:50they were so good
20:53he could be
20:54so kind
20:55so sweet
20:56he met my every need
21:00and then
21:01something would set him off
21:04he would choke me
21:06he would pull my hair
21:08and throw me around the room
21:10he broke
21:11my kitchen table
21:12and chairs
21:13just smashing
21:14all of it to pieces
21:16he tore my purse apart
21:18and ripped up my money
21:21I couldn't get out
21:22of his gated property
21:23without
21:25him opening the gate
21:27and this was common
21:28if we would fight
21:29and I would want to leave
21:30I was not allowed to leave
21:34one time
21:34I was so scared
21:36and I hit the panic button
21:37on my iPhone
21:40and it called 911
21:43he'd snatched my phone
21:45out of my hand
21:47911 immediately called me back
21:50of course now he has my phone
21:52so I can't answer it
21:55he sends it to voicemail
21:58yes this is Knox County 911
22:00we just received a phone call
22:01from this number
22:02if you do have an emergency
22:04please give us a call back
22:05and stay on the line
22:06if you do not have an emergency
22:07you can disregard this message
22:12no one ever came
22:13no one ever showed up
22:16it became this constant cycle
22:19of abuse
22:21something bad would happen
22:23and then he would call
22:25constantly
22:26so I would block him
22:31what did I do
22:32to deserve this
22:33why would you block me
22:34like why in the world
22:35would you block me
22:36what am I doing wrong
22:38I'm pleading to you
22:40I'm pleading my case
22:41and you're just being
22:42vile to me
22:44I mean
22:45it's abuse
22:46you're being abusive
22:50he would go to the lengths
22:51of the earth
22:52and do whatever means necessary
22:54to get me back
22:55he would get down
22:57on his knees
22:57and beg
22:58and make himself cry
22:59and just plead with me
23:01to forgive him
23:04one time
23:04he showed up
23:06with his three year old
23:07had him knock on the door
23:09mommy mommy mommy
23:10like how am I not
23:12going to open the door
23:13for this
23:14this little boy
23:15that calls me mommy
23:17and so I gave in
23:19I let him in
23:23and it started all over again
23:30now talking about it
23:31I realize
23:33how insane this sounds
23:35I can't even believe
23:37that I accepted this
23:39as my reality
23:41but I was just
23:42so incredibly
23:44in love with him
23:55we were in
23:57Destin, Florida
23:58visiting
23:59his family there
24:01we'd all just gone out
24:02and had this great dinner
24:03and
24:04he
24:05took me outside
24:08pulled a ring
24:09out of his pocket
24:11and
24:11proposed to me
24:16but
24:16the typical
24:18excitement
24:19that would follow
24:19an engagement
24:20did not follow
24:23my parents
24:24were
24:25were not fans
24:26of his
24:27I mean
24:27I had lost
24:28a ton of weight
24:29and I wasn't allowed
24:30to cut my hair
24:31because he liked
24:32my hair long
24:33he didn't want me
24:34wearing makeup
24:36I was very much
24:38under his control
24:39and I think
24:40that
24:42they knew
24:42it was going
24:43to get worse
24:43from there
24:52on June 8th
24:53we go out
24:54to dinner
24:54my friend
24:56was our server
24:57at a local restaurant
24:58here in Knoxville
25:00were making
25:01each other laugh
25:01it was a great night
25:03we made plans
25:05to go out
25:05with my friend
25:06after
25:06so real quick
25:07I just wanted
25:08to walk my dog
25:10everything was fine
25:11on the drive home
25:13everything was fine
25:14when we got back
25:15to my house
25:16I took
25:17my dog
25:18Zoe
25:18out for a walk
25:20in the neighborhood
25:24and when I came
25:25back through
25:25the door
25:30Jeffrey
25:30attacked me
25:32he grabbed me
25:33and he
25:34smashed my head
25:35into the floor
25:37over and over again
25:41I was
25:42in and out
25:43of consciousness
25:44I remember
25:46at one point
25:47being in the kitchen
25:48I have no idea
25:49how I got there
25:50the next thing
25:51I remember
25:54he had me
25:55pinned
25:55in the corner
25:56of my living room
25:57and was just
25:58shoving me
25:59into the wall
26:00over and over again
26:06I don't remember
26:07him saying anything
26:09I had no idea
26:10what I did wrong
26:12that made him
26:13act like that
26:15he had never been
26:16this severely abusive
26:18it had never been
26:20this bad
26:20I genuinely thought
26:23he was trying
26:23to kill me
26:25I remember him
26:26dragging me
26:28up the stairs
26:29by the hair
26:29I felt my face
26:31and realized
26:33that my nose
26:34was bleeding
26:35the whole inside
26:36of my mouth
26:37was also bleeding
26:39he made me go
26:40to the bathroom
26:41and wash my face
26:43and I remember
26:44being so
26:45scared
26:46to wash my face
26:47because I thought
26:48he was going
26:49to smash my face
26:50down into the faucet
26:52and told me
26:53to go get in bed
26:55and I did
26:58I was pretending
26:59to sleep
27:01I was afraid
27:02that I had
27:03a concussion
27:03or a brain bleed
27:04that I was
27:06gonna die
27:06so I tried
27:08so hard
27:09to stay awake
27:11as soon as
27:12his head
27:12hit that pillow
27:13I jumped
27:14out of bed
27:14and I just
27:15made a beeline
27:16for it
27:18I had no shoes
27:19on
27:20I ran down
27:21my driveway
27:22as fast
27:23as I could
27:27I kept going
27:30and I made it
27:32to my neighbor's
27:33house
27:49on June the 9th
27:512019
27:53we responded
27:54to a domestic
27:55violence call
27:56off of North Shore
27:57Drive
27:58in the West Knoxville
27:59area
28:01the time
28:02was
28:021 49
28:03in the morning
28:06we knock
28:06on the door
28:08when we hear
28:09pounding on her
28:10door
28:10we thought
28:11it was him
28:12and I was
28:12so afraid
28:24Kristen is
28:25sitting on
28:26the kitchen
28:27floor
28:27of the neighbor's
28:28house
28:29with this
28:31really big
28:31raised bruise
28:32on her forehead
28:33and she has
28:35abrasions
28:36consistent with
28:37domestic assault
28:37if somebody's
28:38been thrown
28:38around
28:39the forensic unit
28:52arrived
28:53and started
28:53photographing
28:54her elbows
28:55and her knees
28:56and the forehead
28:58the paramedics
28:59that came
28:59to the scene
29:00said I really
29:02needed to go
29:02to the hospital
29:09we make our way
29:10from the neighbor's
29:11house
29:11over to Kristen's
29:13house
29:13it's probably
29:14close to
29:153 in the morning
29:18however
29:18as soon as we
29:19start knocking
29:20on the door
29:21Jeffrey
29:22immediately answers
29:22the door
29:23and he's wide awake
29:25and he is
29:26he's wired
29:27out of the house
29:28no
29:29you don't have
29:29permission to come
29:30to the house
29:30oh yes we did
29:31oh yes we did
29:34what's going on
29:35how do you think
29:35have a seat
29:36have a seat
29:37right there
29:38you want another
29:39exact choice
29:40have a seat
29:41not going to tell you
29:42again
29:42right there
29:43it's fine
29:44it's fine
29:46he's talking
29:46really quickly
29:47in my opinion
29:48he's under the
29:49influence of
29:50cocaine or
29:51methamphetamine
29:51or some other
29:52stimulant
29:52tell you that
29:55she's mad
29:56because I want
29:56to lose her
29:56okay
29:58we're asking
29:58about Kristen's
30:00injuries
30:00and you can tell
30:01he's trying to
30:02come up with
30:03an explanation
30:04she acted
30:04absolutely
30:05I mean
30:06crazy
30:07I mean
30:08scratched me
30:09ran against
30:10the wall
30:10hit herself
30:11slapped herself
30:12none of it
30:13made sense
30:14where did she
30:16supposedly run
30:16the wall
30:17not supposedly
30:18she really did
30:18right here
30:26the forensic
30:27unit
30:27had located
30:29some blood
30:29spatter on the
30:30walls
30:30on a light
30:31switch
30:33and as well
30:34as on the
30:34floor
30:37after just a
30:38couple minutes
30:38of interviewing
30:39Jeffrey
30:39we determined
30:41that he's the
30:41primary aggressor
30:43we arrest him
30:47when we place
30:48him in handcuffs
30:48he's got this
30:50disbelief
30:51absolutely not
30:52no way
30:53we're making
30:53the wrong
30:54decision
30:54he's innocent
30:57we placed him
30:58in the patrol
30:59vehicle
30:59and he
31:00flipped a switch
31:01he just became
31:02unhinged
31:03and enraged
31:06he starts
31:06kicking out the
31:07windows
31:07a horse
31:08kicking the
31:09door
31:10and we have
31:11to pull him
31:11out
31:11and we have
31:12to restrain
31:12his legs
31:13we place
31:14him back
31:15in the
31:15back of my
31:16patrol unit
31:17and he
31:18continues
31:18kicking
31:21so we have
31:22to pull him
31:22out again
31:23to connect
31:24the chain
31:25of the leg
31:25irons
31:26to his
31:26handcuffs
31:28and you know
31:29typically not
31:30going to do
31:30that unless
31:31somebody's
31:31just really
31:32off the rails
31:39at the hospital
31:40i had to have
31:42a ct scan
31:42done
31:43i did have
31:44a concussion
31:45they prescribed
31:46me some pain
31:47medicine
31:47because i was
31:49just in
31:50an immense
31:51amount of
31:51pain
31:54the next day
31:55jeffrey got
31:56bailed out
32:00so on monday
32:01morning
32:02my parents
32:03took me
32:03to the
32:04knox county
32:04sheriff's
32:05office
32:05and we
32:06filed an
32:07order of
32:07protection
32:08the order
32:09of protection
32:10is a civil
32:10case
32:11so i actually
32:11had two
32:12cases against
32:12him
32:12my civil
32:14case
32:14and then
32:15there was
32:15a criminal
32:15case
32:16for the
32:16actual
32:17domestic
32:17assault
32:19his family
32:20couldn't
32:20contact me
32:21his friends
32:21couldn't
32:21contact me
32:22he obviously
32:23couldn't
32:23contact me
32:24the engagement
32:25was definitely
32:26off
32:27completely cut
32:28all ties
32:29on that day
32:41i am an
32:44assistant district
32:44attorney here
32:45in knoxville
32:46tennessee
32:48i've been in
32:49various units
32:50within the
32:50office
32:50one of them
32:51being the
32:52domestic
32:52violence
32:52unit
32:53when i got
32:54the case
32:55file
32:55what initially
32:57stood out to
32:57me was just
32:58the amount
32:59of violence
32:59involved in
33:01this particular
33:02assault
33:02there was
33:04literally
33:04almost an
33:05injury to
33:06every part
33:07of her body
33:07that you
33:08could see
33:08i could tell
33:09that this
33:10was an
33:11incredibly
33:11brutal attack
33:13that took
33:14some time
33:15to happen
33:18at mr
33:20patchwell's
33:20arraignment
33:21jeffrey was
33:22charged with
33:23aggravated
33:23kidnapping
33:24domestic assault
33:25and interference
33:27with a 9-1-1
33:28emergency call
33:30there was an
33:31offer betrayed
33:32to him
33:33to plead
33:33to a felony
33:34offense
33:35that was a
33:36four-year
33:36probation offer
33:37no jail time
33:39this saves
33:40the victim
33:41from having
33:41to come to
33:42court
33:42to testify
33:43doesn't drag
33:43it out
33:44he declined
33:45the offer
33:49at that point
33:49in time
33:50we had to
33:51actually get
33:52this case
33:52to trial
33:59jeffrey's
33:59ex-wife
34:00allison reached
34:01out to me
34:01after her
34:02attorneys found
34:03out about
34:04the assault
34:05just to check
34:06in and see
34:06if i was
34:07okay
34:08and through
34:09allison i met
34:11sabrina
34:14when i finally
34:15got to speak
34:16with kristin
34:17i found out
34:18yeah she's
34:18just as amazing
34:19as you know
34:20allison was
34:21or any woman
34:22that he was
34:23blessed enough
34:23to be with
34:25we started
34:26talking about
34:26the things
34:27that he said
34:27and did
34:29and hearing
34:30what kristin
34:30went through
34:31it was very
34:32triggering
34:34but we've
34:35been through
34:35the same
34:36thing
34:36at the hands
34:37of jeffrey
34:40this has been
34:41going on
34:41for decades
34:43this was just
34:44not going to
34:44stop
34:45until he
34:46was stopped
34:51given
34:52covid
34:52the court
34:53system
34:53having to
34:54shut down
34:54took a lot
34:55longer than
34:56we wanted
34:57to actually
34:57get this
34:58case to
34:58trial
34:59and while
35:00his case
35:01was pending
35:01i had learned
35:02that he
35:03was on
35:04i guess
35:04a reality tv
35:05sort of dating
35:06show called
35:0790 day fiance
35:17i just landed
35:18in moscow
35:19to see the
35:20love of my
35:21life
35:21vary
35:22in person
35:23for the
35:23first time
35:23ever
35:24i had no
35:25idea
35:26i had no
35:27idea
35:2990 day
35:29fiance
35:30before the
35:3090 days
35:31is a reality
35:32show that
35:33follows international
35:34couples who
35:34have met
35:35online
35:36basically
35:37the premise
35:38of the show
35:38is that they're
35:39already dating
35:39before they
35:40meet for the
35:40first time
35:41which means
35:42apparently he
35:43was in a
35:43whole other
35:44relationship
35:45with someone
35:46from russia
35:46during our
35:47engagement
35:49i met my
35:50girlfriend online
35:50several months
35:51ago
35:51i truly believe
35:53that varia and
35:53i are meant
35:53to be together
35:54if things go
35:55well with varia
35:56i'm gonna
35:57propose to
35:57her
35:59so the
36:00assault
36:00happened
36:01on june
36:019th
36:02she acted
36:03absolutely
36:03i mean
36:04crazy
36:05and by
36:06july he's
36:07already in
36:07russia
36:08filming
36:10i was still
36:10black and
36:11blue
36:13i'm sure he
36:14was already
36:14cast for the
36:15show when my
36:16assault happened
36:16so they
36:17wouldn't have
36:17caught that
36:19but he had
36:20several criminal
36:21convictions before
36:22he was on
36:2390 day fiance
36:25i was able to
36:26find these
36:27convictions
36:27people on the
36:28internet were
36:29able to find
36:30these convictions
36:30the media was
36:32able to find
36:33these convictions
36:33before the show
36:35even aired
36:36jeffrey his
36:37history runs
36:38deep and it
36:38runs dark
36:39if these
36:40allegations are
36:41true it sounds
36:42like he's got
36:42some serious
36:43anger issues
36:45they aired the
36:46episodes anyway
36:49i'm jeffrey i'm
36:5041 years old and
36:51i live just
36:52outside of
36:52not still tennessee
36:56but i like to
36:57do anything that i
36:57can get out there
36:58and get my hands
36:58dirty
37:00a lot of people
37:01really liked him
37:01on the show
37:02i mean he's
37:03portrayed as a
37:04very likable
37:05charismatic
37:06strong
37:08hard-working
37:09all-american
37:10country boy
37:13i did watch a
37:14few clips of it
37:16and my children
37:17were in it
37:17he was speaking
37:18with them about
37:19all the women
37:20that had hurt him
37:21and the things
37:21that he'd been
37:22through and that
37:22he deserved to
37:23be happy
37:25there's a risk
37:26that i'm gonna be
37:26heartbroken
37:27and it really
37:28scares me
37:29because i don't
37:30think my heart
37:31can take it to
37:31let down
37:33it just kind of
37:34hit me like
37:35we didn't hurt
37:36you
37:38you hurt us
37:41despite all
37:41these awful
37:42allegations
37:42he still had a
37:44growing fan base
37:45that left him
37:46did you know
37:46that i had a
37:47youtube channel
37:47i had cameo
37:49i had fanbound
37:51jeffrey created
37:52a fan base
37:53from being on
37:53that reality show
37:54and he really
37:55fed off of it
37:56he just kept
37:57getting larger
37:58than life
37:58what are my
37:59nipple tats
38:00go on my
38:01instagram
38:02at 90 day
38:03jeffrey
38:03and read my
38:04post
38:04it tells all
38:05about them
38:05he just kept
38:07thinking that
38:07i'm untangible
38:09i'm unstoppable
38:11there's nothing
38:11anybody can do
38:12to me now
38:18prior to actually
38:19going to trial
38:20mr paschel
38:21posted numerous
38:22videos online
38:23where he had
38:24talked about
38:25all of the
38:27accusations
38:28what's the biggest
38:29i guess
38:30misconception
38:31that you think
38:32that people
38:33have about you
38:34oh i mean
38:35it's gotta be
38:36woman beater
38:37it's gotta be
38:38a woman abuser
38:39domestic violence
38:40person
38:41whatever
38:42when you go
38:43through something
38:44like this
38:44you're advised
38:45not to talk
38:46about it
38:46so while
38:48he got to
38:50do instagram
38:51lives
38:52talk to his
38:53followers
38:54and tell them
38:55his side of the
38:56story
38:56i had to be
38:58silent
38:58this is all
38:59just a ploy
39:00this is all
39:00just a
39:01um
39:02an agenda
39:03to try to
39:04make me lose
39:04custody of my
39:05child
39:05he said that
39:06i joined forces
39:07with all of
39:09his exes
39:10and that we
39:10were all
39:10scheming against
39:11him
39:12i think this
39:13is going to
39:13be a johnny
39:14depp moment
39:14i think this
39:15is going to
39:15be like
39:16this is going
39:17to be like
39:18amanda heard
39:19getting called
39:19out and being
39:20recorded
39:20actually being
39:21the abuser
39:32welcome back to
39:33court tv live

39:36start first
39:36with tennessee
39:37versus jeffrey
39:38paschel
39:39the former
39:40reality tv star
39:41who was accused
39:42of a brutal
39:43attack on his
39:44former fiance
39:46kristin's
39:47assault took
39:47place very
39:48late on
39:49june the
39:508th of
39:512019
39:51we were not
39:53able to
39:53actually go
39:55to a jury
39:55trial until
39:56october of
39:582021
40:01the hardest
40:01part of the
40:02trial was
40:02obviously
40:03seeing him
40:04again
40:05having to
40:05face him
40:07it was
40:07terrifying
40:10it's hard
40:10enough for
40:11a victim
40:12to come
40:13to court
40:13to tell
40:1412 13
40:15people
40:16whom they've
40:17never met
40:17the worst
40:18experience of
40:19their life
40:19now she was
40:21going to have
40:21cameras looking
40:22at her
40:22she knew
40:23that this
40:24was going
40:24to be
40:24televised
40:25so the
40:26case definitely
40:27stood out
40:27for that
40:28reason
40:30jeffrey
40:30paschel
40:30was a little
40:31bit different
40:31than some
40:32defendants
40:32because he
40:33was so
40:34clearly
40:34confident
40:36i would
40:36argue
40:37perhaps
40:37arrogant
40:39he to me
40:39looked like
40:40somebody who
40:40wanted to
40:41be in
40:41control
40:44varia
40:44his fiance
40:45was in
40:46the front
40:46row
40:46every day
40:47supporting
40:47him
40:49in my opinion
40:50this was a
40:51pretty
40:51straightforward
40:51case
40:52and so
40:53the only
40:53strategy
40:54that i
40:54really had
40:54was just
40:55to let
40:55kristen
40:56talk
40:57during that
40:58time
40:58did you try
40:59and get
41:00away or
41:00anything
41:00when i was
41:02screaming i was
41:02trying to get
41:03away from
41:03him but i
41:04couldn't
41:05he's too
41:05strong he
41:06was holding
41:06me down
41:07on the ground
41:07and then
41:08he was
41:08pushing me
41:09around and
41:10i could not
41:11get away
41:13it was awful
41:14having to sit
41:15across from
41:16jeffrey at
41:16trial
41:18he would just
41:19lock eyes
41:20with me
41:21and not let
41:22go
41:23it was very
41:24scary to
41:25have him stare
41:26at me like
41:26that
41:27i remember
41:28going up
41:28the stairs
41:29and then
41:30that's the
41:30last thing
41:31i remember
41:32i don't
41:33know what
41:33happened up
41:34there but
41:34there's blood
41:35splatter down
41:36my bedroom
41:36door so
41:37something
41:38happened up
41:38there
41:40kristen in
41:41my opinion
41:41was very
41:42credible
41:42i was confident
41:43that the jury
41:44was gonna
41:44believe her
41:50at this point
41:51in time
41:51the state
41:52calls
41:53mr
41:53jeffrey
41:53paschel
41:56sir do you
41:56swear to tell
41:57the truth
41:57the whole truth
41:58and nothing
41:58but the truth
41:58so help
41:59you go
41:59thank you
42:02typically
42:02defense attorneys
42:03tell defendants
42:04you're not taking
42:05the stand
42:05it's not gonna
42:06come off well
42:07but jeffrey
42:09paschel in my
42:10opinion does it
42:10because he thinks
42:12he can manipulate
42:13the jury
42:14control the jury
42:16and convince them
42:18i'm right
42:18i didn't do
42:19anything wrong
42:20i went to go
42:21leave she attempted
42:22to grab my keys
42:23well she did grab
42:24my keys and tried
42:25to bolt out the
42:26door and
42:27as she went to
42:28bolt out the
42:29door the door
42:30this being a door
42:31the door open
42:32she ran smack
42:35into the door
42:38side of the door
42:39as she ran out
42:40so she grabbed my
42:41keys and turned
42:42and hit the door
42:44the open door
42:46he essentially
42:47tried to say
42:47that she was drunk
42:49that all of these
42:50injuries were
42:51self-inflicted
42:51but the weight
42:53of the evidence
42:53was so strong
42:54against that
42:55and i think
42:57that the jury
42:57saw that
42:59the jury went out
43:01mid-afternoon
43:03they actually
43:04weren't out
43:04for
43:05for very long
43:06it was actually
43:07just a few hours
43:10the jury came back
43:11with a verdict
43:11really quickly
43:12i was shaking
43:13and i was terrified
43:15and i held my
43:16parents hands
43:19i didn't know
43:20what way it was
43:21going to go
43:21we the jury
43:24i can't even explain
43:37that feeling of euphoria
43:38when they found jeffrey
43:39guilty
43:40this coming thursday
43:42jeffrey paschel
43:43the convicted reality
43:44cast member
43:45from the tv show
43:4690 day fiance
43:47before the 90 days
43:48will be sentenced
43:49once a reality tv star
43:51jeffrey paschel
43:52he now faces
43:5412 to 20 years
43:56in prison
43:56without the possibility
43:58of parole
44:05during trial
44:06the rules of evidence
44:07actually don't allow us
44:08to bring in
44:09what we call
44:10propensity evidence
44:11prior bad acts
44:12because we want
44:14the jury
44:14to see
44:15the crime at hand
44:17but it is something
44:18that we can use
44:19in sentencing
44:20so with ex-wife
44:21allison
44:22actually testified
44:23at the sentencing
44:24to the abuse
44:26that she suffered
44:27at any point
44:28during your marriage
44:29was there physical
44:30abuse
44:34there were many threats
44:35made to me
44:36into my family
44:37he was violent
44:40to me on numerous
44:40occasions
44:41um
44:42and i'm gonna stop
44:43for just a second
44:44when you say threats
44:45um
44:45what kind of threats
44:46to kill me
44:50she testified
44:51to
44:52them taking trips
44:53together
44:54where he would
44:54strangle her
44:55she testified
44:56about a time
44:57where he held
44:58her face
44:59close to a fire
45:00and then she testified
45:01about a time
45:02where she had
45:02actually moved
45:04they were split up
45:05at the time
45:06when she comes home
45:07and finds him
45:08in her home
45:09he immediately
45:10attacked me
45:11and grabbed me
45:12and shoved me
45:13into the wall
45:14threw me on the ground
45:16um
45:17strangled me
45:18um
45:19when i finally
45:20broke free
45:21he went and swung
45:23at me
45:23and i moved
45:25so he could hit
45:26the top of my head
45:27versus my face
45:31when allison was
45:32on the stand
45:32uh
45:34i felt like
45:35i went backwards
45:36to my own abuse
45:37and i had to leave
45:38the courtroom
45:40she testified
45:41that he raped her
45:43i think that
45:44that everybody
45:45in the courtroom
45:45when she was
45:46testifying about that
45:47you know
45:47we were all
45:48extremely disturbed
45:49by it
45:50i mean her abuse
45:51went on for years
45:52so her testimony
45:53was was incredibly
45:54powerful at sentencing
45:58every defendant
45:59has the right
45:59to be heard
46:00at sentencing
46:01and jeffrey paschel
46:02took that opportunity
46:06i have a beautiful family
46:12beautiful friends
46:14uh
46:15i'm a dad
46:17he focused on
46:19i've got all these
46:20children
46:21and friends
46:22and family
46:23what did he not
46:24focus on
46:25the victims
46:27i go out of my way
46:27to help people
46:29i don't need anything
46:30i don't want anything
46:33it just gives me
46:35that
46:36internal satisfaction
46:38to help people
46:39you know
46:40that's what
46:40that's
46:41that's my reward
46:43so i ask
46:43that you uh
46:44you have mercy on me
46:46thank you
46:47thank you sir
46:50what is going on
46:51behind closed doors
46:52is much different
46:55than the image
46:56that mr paschel
46:57projects
46:58out to the rest
46:59of the world
47:00the judge
47:02just absolutely
47:03nailed
47:04jeffrey's character
47:05he saw
47:06right through him
47:0812 citizens
47:09from knox county
47:10listened to her
47:11and they listened
47:12to the defendant
47:13and they found
47:14beyond a reasonable
47:15doubt
47:16that she was telling
47:17the truth
47:17and i agree
47:19with their assessment
47:20i've never felt
47:22more seen
47:23more vindicated
47:25it was truly
47:26an absolutely
47:27amazing moment
47:30this behavior
47:31towards these women
47:33is sick
47:35it is sadistic
47:37i think
47:39that mr paschel
47:40has a desire
47:41to inflict
47:43as much emotional
47:44damage to these
47:44women as possible
47:45for the reason
47:47stated
47:47the court finds
47:48that the appropriate
47:48sentence in this
47:49case is 18 years
47:50to serve
47:53this was an unusual
47:54case because
47:55the state requested
47:5616 years
47:57the defense argued
47:59for fewer
47:59the judge
48:01didn't do either
48:02of those things
48:02instead said
48:04i'm giving you more
48:06not only did i take
48:07my power back
48:08but i felt like
48:09i gave power back
48:10to so many women
48:11that he has taken
48:12it from over the years
48:13and when jeffrey
48:15was found guilty
48:16it made
48:17every bit of
48:18suffering worth it
48:26jeffrey how's
48:27jeffrey of course
48:29the most common
48:29question i expected
48:30that
48:31well uh soon
48:33i will have a call
48:34with the lawyers
48:35team
48:36to discuss
48:38the strategy
48:39of filing
48:41to the supreme court
48:44um
48:44yeah
48:45so keep your fingers
48:47crossed
48:48baria's been very
48:49outspoken
48:50about supporting jeffrey
48:52and she still stands
48:53behind him
48:54so today marks
48:561255 days
48:57since my loved one
48:58jeffrey bashell
48:59has been in prison
49:00i decided to
49:02open up
49:08a lot of people
49:11after they go
49:12through something
49:12like this
49:13will join
49:14like a support group
49:16my support group
49:18is sabrina and allison
49:19and the bond
49:20that i have with them
49:21and the connection
49:22that i have with them
49:24it's just incredible
49:27kristin's my hero
49:28today i have a
49:30beautiful bond
49:31with allison
49:32and kristin
49:33it's a blessing
49:34we're like sisters
49:42shortly after
49:43the assault
49:44my college ex-boyfriend
49:47reached out to me
49:48just to check on me
49:50and said
49:50hey how are you
49:51this was in july
49:53of 2019
49:55we rekindled
49:56got engaged
49:58and
49:59we were married
50:00in october
50:01of 2019
50:04cory was
50:05my rock
50:06through everything
50:06he was extremely
50:07supportive
50:08he
50:09just made me feel
50:11so confident
50:12and so sure
50:13about going through
50:13with the process
50:14and he was just
50:16the most
50:17wonderful partner
50:18that you could ask for
50:19in this awful situation
50:22i think going through
50:25something like this
50:26this traumatic
50:27not only does it
50:29teach you what you
50:30don't want
50:31in a man
50:32but it shows you
50:34what you do want
50:35and now we have kids
50:37and
50:38everything in my life
50:40right now
50:40is honestly
50:41just phenomenal
50:42what you do want
51:12to see you
