04:26it's gonna get punched in the face an unforgettable season
04:33starring the men who put the professional in professional bowling
04:40what am i throwing like that dick face
05:01jerry do you want a beef stick from my sponsor hey they're good they're protein like i will not eat
05:07a
05:07beef stick no no
05:12i turned pro when i was 15. you know i had my pba card i was a professional bowler uh
05:17but that by no
05:18means meant i was a profitable professional bowler
05:25my first job at 16 was working at wendy's i managed wendy's for about seven years
05:35i won my first title in 2015.
05:40back to work the following week people were like hey i've seen you on tv
05:43that's awesome like thank you here's your frosty we have the taste of wendy's taste
05:49and when you're playing well you kind of have a signature move with the pit
05:53yeah i mean you got to pick the hair out this would be the celebration a lot more frantically but
05:59i'm just making sure my hair's looking good for the camera
06:04i guess i'm the bob ross of bowling from all of us happy painting
06:11hello oh yeah sorry i'm uh doing a documentary with these guys but let me uh let me put you
06:16on hold
06:18just love doing that that's where i kissed it and kind of see my lip print a little bit
06:23i think your dog just took a shit jesus christ really so where would you rank the top five bowlers
06:33ej tackett's got to be number one i'm sure i'm not the only bowler's tired of seeing him win but
06:38hey
06:38hats off to ej anthony simonson number two i would put myself third fourth belmo you know he's been a
06:45little lax the last couple years but you know the man's got the records and you know that fifth spot
06:51is really up for grabs nasty mia mama's back to bowling too she bowled yesterday for the first
06:59time in eight months it's better if your significant other is a bowler because you just understand the
07:06support level better be there for them during the downs be there for them during the highs
07:13when we're gone away from our families for two straight months that's just when it gets tough
07:20all right ready girl yeah aubry she's been my life for the last couple years uh she's a ball of
07:29joy
07:37oh okay look who came to bowl
07:42i grew up in a bowling alley pretty much all my life
07:49my father had me on the lanes at a very young age what do you think of dad is he
07:53gonna win the next
07:53match yeah he started throwing the ball eight years old they always pick up my 15 pounder but the ball
08:02was so heavy he ended up putting his other hand on the ball and learning how to bowl two-handed
08:08you know traveling around with my dad he was one of the most popular bowlers throughout the 80s and 90s
08:13uh he was a bowler of the bowlers uh the crowd was his people
08:21my father guppy troop he's an eight-time titleist 42 regional titles
08:26the main thing on tour i was known for was the pants
08:33he had the crazy pants back in the 80s and just his character some people know me because i hammer
08:39the
08:39competition bowling was quite different compared to now my dad liked to party back in the day
08:49i'd spend as much time in the bar as i did on the lanes maybe more
08:55he always wanted to entertain fans you know he was very outgoing he was a showman of showmans
09:01and i learned a lot from him
09:21i'm good
09:22hey joe how you doing i'm good oh my gosh this is the man i need to see this was
09:28my coach you can kind
09:29of tell when someone has the it factor for lack of a better term you can tell that you can
09:33tell
09:34that he's been a superstar since he was in high school can i take a selfie with this
09:43so i did every sport when i was younger bowling really stuck because i was like whoa like i'm
09:49actually pretty good at this like let's keep trying it me and my dad my our first ever tournament we
09:55bowed together this was cool we won was that nine at the time nine or ten at the time he
10:01threw the 300
10:02so much in practice once he fought his 300 game he would want to start the game over again he
10:09was
10:09as good at throwing 300. we are two of the most competitive people we we go at it in everything
10:15cameron he buddies with everybody that's you know you don't have a game face but but it works for him
10:20because he's very charismatic young man dad yeah no the game face and a big grin is not a game
10:26face
10:26that michael would enjoy or tiger would enjoy okay
10:41i used to practice all the time like after school my dad would pick me up and he would take
10:45me and my
10:50talking about bowling a lot when i was in high school and people knew that i chose bowling over
10:54basketball so they were like why'd you why'd you do that like that's not cool and i thought the same
10:59shit i was like that's not cool at all no but funny enough it used to be a bowling alley
11:04five minutes
11:04away from my house i used to coach there so i made a deal with them like they didn't even
11:09have to pay me
11:09to say just give me free games and we're good no so i took advantage of that a lot they
11:14let me stay in
11:15there they would give me the key sometimes i shouldn't say that legally sorry you know what cut that out
11:24this is my first pbh season now i practice for about six hours five six hours a day go to
11:29the gym
11:29for about two three i work really hard and artwork's paying off so i'm like you're here for a reason
11:36like show them why the you're here like show them what you're about um um is it me let me
11:40burp sorry
11:41oh no i know hathenberg we're good first tournament we'll call it a coming out party
11:50the pro bowlers association season stretches four months from january to april
11:56and features 19 tournaments including five majors that each offer their winner a hundred thousand dollar
12:03prize kyle what are your predictions for the 2025 season for yourself uh we've pretty much got one
12:15prediction or one goal uh player of the year you know coming back from a spot sorry dj
12:23i come out on the tour to win championships and win players of the year that's that's why i'm here
12:28it's
12:29the whole point my mindset is i have to go out full and beat the best players in the world
12:36leading up to the season i was dealing with kind of a back injury but i promised i want to
12:40win every
12:41event major non-event 500 bucks 50 000 and i want to win them all
12:48coming from australia to the us like jet lag is miserable i'm exhausted from traveling but it's never
12:54an excuse i very very rarely am worried about someone else winning
13:03you know excited for the tour to start but then you know get three four weeks in and it's like
13:08oh
13:08god here we go again you know this is my second home i probably drive 30 000 miles a year
13:14at least
13:15a lot of guys drive because we have a ton of bowling balls about 21 in the back of the
13:20car right now
13:22you can't fly with that unless you're paying two or three thousand dollars in baggage fees that's
13:27just the ground the ground's a little different as a pro bowler the first major of the pba season
13:32is the u.s open in indianapolis indiana home to david letterman the indy 500 and well this year's bowling
13:41u.s open the us open being the first major i only live an hour and a half from indy
13:49now so i get to go
13:51with my family that's a blessing in itself that tournament means a lot especially winning it the
13:56year before you know in 2024 the morning of the u.s open show i felt more peaceful than most
14:08finals
14:10i had my family there with me but aubry pulled out an afro wig that moment is you know what
14:19we live
14:19for though you know on tv with the crowd cheering chanting your name the other thing was that
14:26tournament like i probably missed that cut six or seven times in a row in my career
14:33me and my father i made the final in 1984. guppy troop must strike on this ball
14:44he lost by one pin honestly you know it felt like a chance at redemption
15:12he lost by one pin
15:14he lost by one pin
15:31those emotions yeah you can't you can't top that now I'm super excited coming in
15:38as defending champion I get to see my face on the banner so confidence all-time
15:44high I have my go with the pro sign I got to finish it one second because it's
15:53can't see with the pencil line it's gonna have it it's gonna have a fro around the
15:57bowling ball more than a hundred of the world's top bowlers will be vying for the
16:02US Open's coveted Big Eagle trophy and that one size fits the winner green
16:10jacket which is not exactly identical to the Masters green jacket or is it doesn't
16:21matter the winner also will take home that big hundred thousand dollar payday
16:27just a hair under what you get for winning that other green jacket but with that
16:35newfound fame and fortune they can also attract new sponsors like bowling ball
16:41companies or beef jerky or mail marketed hygienic products how do you all in all winning this
16:52tournament can truly define a player's career forever the US Open is such a tough test I
17:02believe this is probably the toughest tournament on tour to win it's a lot of games there's a lot of
17:09frustration that happens no it's his heart there are many challenges that you encounter with the US
17:20Open that's different from any other tournament you know like pulling on four different oil patterns
17:25throughout the event that's right oil oil oil that geological mineral that fuels wars and crashes
17:36economies is pro bowling secret obstruction each lane in the alley is coated with streaks of
17:52port oil laid out in an invisible elaborate design a pattern that challenges the competitors by changing ever so
18:03slightly every time a ball rolls down the lane it's not a good shot just don't see it out there
18:14so though the
18:18pins never move the path to them does constantly augmenting the degree of difficulty and forever
18:27frustrating the bowlers Cameron is a big confidence guy but uh if I had to rate him on actual ability
18:42to
18:42rap it's like a 2.4 out of 10 out of three Cameron is just big vibes guys not actually
18:48a good rapper but
18:49he's has a good time I spit a 16 if you're all right now give me a beat oh let's
18:56go what I'm in the car
19:00yeah with the crew okay professional bowling is a crazy job I'll tell you that there's some events
19:15where you stay out there for three weeks to a month and if you don't make any money you're not
19:20just a
19:20negative you're in like a big hole it's gonna take a while for you to recover from it's a bet
19:25on
19:25yourself we are at the house B&B basically for the guys for the geese you're about to meet all
19:31the cats
19:32you room with a couple bowlers save a little bit of cost you got it yeah I forgot it already
19:39we have
19:40my boy Kevin Williams he's really easy to get along with so I'm rooming with him when it comes to
19:44the
19:44game he's really intelligent so it's good to just have somebody in my corner I'm toasty now this is
19:50comfortable who's blanket is this I'm over you get out of my everything is this Kevin um he's also a
19:59professional rapper paper conversations I just talk that shit money making moves I just walk that shit
20:05loose off the goose like I pop that fifth you see I choose what I do I'm a boss that's
20:10it
20:11whenever guys make telecast they usually ask for like two or three songs to play when they strike
20:17whatever to kind of kill some of the dead noise and I had like 25 guys as like strike songs
20:23I made
20:23one with Kyle and we did like the pick it out song damn son where'd you find this I've never
20:31heard
20:31you've never seen this it's a full it's a full music video
20:35pick it out pick it out pick it out pick it out pick it out pick it out switch it
20:42up in the middle
20:45this is gonna be crazy
20:51is that ketchup and mustard
20:56this is when he started making all the telecasts and he was getting big and whatever and it was fun
21:03to do
21:03you want a water
21:09there's a faucet right there okay the fuck you asked for
21:15thank you that liquid IV oh my god were you drinking
21:19no dude I just like to be hydrated try to get the sponsorship lock in Blue Chew hit me up
21:25no not Blue Chew I actively tell the PBA and Fox that Blue Chew should be a sponsor for the
21:32PBA
21:34what is it Blue Chew the dick pill I think I think it would be a hit in the bowling
21:39community you
21:40gotta think it's a bunch of like old grumpy men who you know might need a little a little power
21:44up
21:48think hard be hard Blue Chew
21:50Blue Chew
21:53light man
21:56what the fuck
21:59all right from hipster to bowler
22:01the double life from a cool guy in a cropped shirt to a damn bowler
22:15day three of the open determines who makes the cut
22:19every pin knocked down over the past three days is added up
22:23and only the top 24 move on
22:28it's me versus pins that's what you always got to think
22:33good shot boy
22:35come on get to that fucking moment
22:36come on keep working
22:37all right all right I'm starting to strike
22:39I'm starting to pop it like I'm talking shit
22:43now I'm in my sweet spot
22:45everything felt right
22:46you're a bad dude
22:47sometimes
22:48you're a bad dude
22:49y'all watching me
22:53somebody's excited
22:54oh man literally when I tell you blocking my life
22:57I'm blocking my life
22:58uh you know let's let's look you're gonna make this cut
23:01okay I know you're gonna sit and knock on wood
23:03but you're you got enough score you got enough wood
23:05you can you can breathe easy you made this cut
23:07uh I'm at a loss of words right now
23:09at the beginning of today I started in 45th
23:11and uh by the end of today I'm in the top 10
23:16uh we got more work to do so uh we're gonna celebrate this for the next 20 minutes
23:19and back to work tomorrow
23:21great ball
23:22thank you sir
23:23appreciate it
23:24thank you guys
23:26bye guys
23:29we still got our name in that hat for that green jacket
23:31which is what we're going for
23:32even though the day's bowling isn't finished
23:35cam already qualified in the round of 24
23:38thank you mama
23:40meanwhile Kyle Troop the reigning champ
23:43needs a solid final game to make the cut
23:55hit a couple rough games early it was mentally a roller coaster
24:08the ability to perform under pressure is essential for any bowler Kyle has his own strategy for staying locked in
24:17so I do love some sudoku
24:19so I do love some sudoku that was the trick my mental game was calm and relaxed
24:24so when he doesn't use his phone doesn't worry about who's bowling around him and what they're bowling he does
24:30fine
24:31I was comfortable I knew how the oil patterns on the lanes were transitioning
24:39the last game and I knew it was gonna be close
25:00I noticed a lot of cheering going on somewhere else somebody else is making a run
25:09I can't help but know the math
25:20going home tomorrow girl
25:26I missed to cut my two pins
25:29just lack of focus early
25:31lack of being calm
25:39probably could have got two pins somewhere
25:45you can always find two pins just about anywhere after 24 games
26:00yeah well I didn't make the cut
26:02but just have two pins just about anywhere after 24 games
26:41Before you get worried you won't see Kyle again this season, relax.
26:47Remember, there are four more major events on the season.
26:51Oh!
26:53Events that will push all of them to the limit.
26:56Damn it.
26:57Oh, come on, man.
26:58I'm burning these buildings so we can burn.
27:01Fuck you.
27:03Shove your camera up your ass.
27:04But as far as the U.S. Open goes, the final round is set to be an all-out...
27:09I don't trust them one fucking bit.
27:11Pin-knocking war...
27:14for the big check.
