00:00Astronomers just made one of the biggest planet halls in years, and they did it with artificial intelligence.
00:05A new AI system called RAVEN, working through NASA's test mission data, has confirmed more than 100 exoplanets, including 31
00:14brand-new worlds never seen before.
00:16It also flagged thousands more planet candidates for future study.
00:20Among the discoveries, rare ultra-short-period planets that whip around their stars in less than a day,
00:26and worlds lurking inside the so-called Neptunian Desert, where planets were believed to be impossible,
00:34TESS, NASA's planet-hunting satellite, scans millions of stars looking for tiny dips in starlight when a planet passes in
00:41front.
00:42Until now, sorting that data was painfully slow.
00:45RAVEN does the work in a fraction of the time, and corrects for hidden biases that had been masking smaller
00:52worlds for years.
00:53It is one of the clearest demonstrations yet of AI accelerating real American science.
