00:02The Victor Harbour foreshore has felt a little empty without the beloved Clydesdales pulling
00:07the historic tram to Granite Island.
00:09I'm a tad disappointed, but it's okay.
00:12The herd has been on sick leave since late April, when some started showing cold-like
00:16symptoms.
00:17Flat, coughing, a bit of snot and heavy breathing, sweating and that fatigue that
00:24you get when you're not feeling very well.
00:26Serious diseases have now been ruled out through testing, and it's believed the horses
00:31have a common cold.
00:34They're just like us, they can pick up bugs and viruses and things like that, and yeah
00:39they do just need that rest and a bit of time.
00:42How many times have you been sneezed on by a horse?
00:45Oh, in my lifetime, millions.
00:48The last couple of weeks, a little bit.
00:52People have delivered carrots and treats which the horses are lapping up.
00:57I'm pleased that the horses are being well looked after and that the veterinary care
01:01is more important than taking us old ladies and old men on a train.
01:07And as well as all those extra carrots donated by concerned Victor Harbour residents, the horses
01:12are getting some extra special pampering from their carers as they get over their symptoms.
01:17All going well, we would really love to hope that we will be back next week, but that all
01:23depends on our horses and on vet advice.
01:26In the meantime, people can still visit the horses behind the scenes, where orphaned foal
01:31Hazel is a crowd favourite.
01:32She loves a pat and a cuddle.
01:34Still thereof.
