00:00Jimmy Kimmel is firing back after President Donald Trump called for ABC to fire the late
00:04night host, quote, soon. During Thursday night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the comedian
00:10responded directly to a true social post from Trump that labeled him, quote, seriously unfunny
00:16and questioned why the network hadn't let him go. And Kimmel didn't hold back.
00:20If incompetently presiding over not just one of, but the lowest rating in history is the
00:25reason I should be fired, we should both be out of a job.
00:30We're not doing too good either.
00:32The late night host also suggested Trump's attacks are meant to distract from larger issues.
00:37All of this is meant to distract us from the prices he didn't lower on day one and from
00:43the Trump Epstein files that his attorney general refuses to release and distract us from the
00:49illegal war he started and can't figure out how to get out of.
00:52The latest back and forth comes after Kimmel mocked the White House correspondents dinner
00:56during a faux version on his show last week, including a joke about First Lady Melania
01:01Trump that drew backlash from both her and the president.
01:04Following the controversy, Trump and Melania publicly called for Kimmel to be fired, though
01:09the host refused to apologize, describing the joke as, quote, a light roast.
01:13The situation escalated further when the FCC launched an early review of Disney's broadcast
01:18TV licenses.
01:19A Disney spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that the company is confident in its qualifications
01:25under the Communications Act and the First Amendment, adding it is prepared to defend its
01:29position through the proper legal channels.
