00:01Checking a bag for your flight can be a pricey choice and it is making the
00:05airlines billions. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics has revealed
00:10that the US airlines have collected 6.7 billion dollars in checked bag fees.
00:17That's partially because the airlines are moving 470 million bags each year.
00:24Bags used to be checked for free on most flights but the addition of this fee has
00:29made airlines quite a bit of cash. Kirk Pilliner of Delta Airlines told CNBC
00:36there's a lot of complexity behind what goes into ensuring that a passengers bag
00:41arrives at their destination with them. It seems like with that much cash they
00:47should be able to get the bags delivered on time.
