00:17This is my, my inspiration.
00:34What made me hold on, what has saved my life, is children.
00:43Because being a celebrity and then becoming an icon, like an international phenomenon,
00:49you see how vindictive man can be, how cruel, how abusive, how judgmental.
00:58But children represent honesty, just a pure innocence.
01:05And I'm in love with innocence.
01:10That's what I'm in love with.
01:22The number one artist in the world!
01:35That level of mega stardom is not healthy.
01:40People are not gods.
01:49Tonight, Jackson is wanted by police of multiple felony counts of child molestation.
01:57The Jackson machine just keeps right on rolling.
02:01The.
02:03The.
02:07The.
02:16The.
02:27The.
02:28corporation believes it has a profitable partner in michael jackson together they could make a
02:34billion dollars as nbc's mike jensen reports tonight teach your kids to sing
02:48it's the kind of contract that takes your breath away a projected one billion dollars for six
02:55michael jackson albums plus feature films videos and video games michael in the 1980s you had the
03:03largest selling album in history with thriller now with dangerous you've given us the fastest
03:09selling album of your career we're prouder than ever to have you part of the sony music family
03:15the thrilling fact is that the best is definitely yet to come
03:23when i joined sony michael jackson was the biggest star in the world
03:28and he was the guy i don't know any other way to describe it i mean we all lived through
03:33it
03:34the michael jackson world tour is on the road again
03:40it was incredibly exciting they're selling out stadiums making record money
03:45it was the franchise i mean let's be honest
03:51we are all in the business of succeeding and when you're working in a company
03:56like sony music you want a michael jackson to succeed
04:08my name is rosabelle smith and for 31 years i was employed by the los angeles police department
04:16in 1993 while working juvenile division of the lapd i was working the sexually exploited child unit
04:23i was advised by my supervisor who was the officer in charge of the unit
04:27that a case had come in involving a young boy who's 13 years of age and that the perpetrator was
04:35michael
04:36jackson i was a little um in disbelief that it was michael jackson doing this because i grew up
04:44watching michael jackson you know the jackson 5 cartoons when i was a kid and i really enjoyed his music
04:56but we had a job to do and that job was to go out
04:59and just handle it just like any other case at that time
05:05our role was to find out if mr jackson had committed the crime of sexual molestation
05:14against uh children and on the same token we had to find out if the children uh they were telling
05:24the truth
05:27we had to interview the victim
05:35the victim had actually met michael jackson at a restaurant who was very very little
05:41then years later that relationship grew and they began to visit each other
05:51the victim was alleging that michael would oftentimes rub his body against his body
05:58he alleged that michael jackson fondled to him and masturbated him um he alleged that michael liked to have
06:08his nipples uh rubbed squeezed uh kissing then that graduated to oral copulation they bathed together
06:18and to the point where eventually michael jackson consumed his semen
06:32we had heard on the grapevine that there were these allegations circulating
06:39and it was a shock to everybody yeah we knew he was hanging with kids but
06:45i saw him hang with the kids and i saw that it was completely innocent
06:51i saw he was playing games with them i saw the kids wanting to hang with him
07:00i really hoped the allegations weren't true
07:05the feeling was trying to contain it obviously we were thinking of you know the immediate impact
07:12on the tour because you got to keep the business going the tour going the album sales everything
07:17and the impact of that so it was pretty uh it was pretty tense we went into crisis mode both
07:23with our
07:23team and the pr team but ultimately the story was so huge it was going to get out no matter
07:32what we did
07:33there was no stopping it
07:39in southern california the press police lawyers and private investigators
07:43are in orbit tonight over an investigation of child abuse allegations involving superstar michael jackson
07:49there's still no comment from michael jackson this morning and los angeles police aren't saying much
07:55but they have confirmed reports of a criminal investigation of the pop superstar all hell broke
08:01loose television station knbc in los angeles first broke the story last night saying that a mother had
08:07alleged jackson abused her child august 17th the los angeles police department initiated a criminal
08:14investigation of entertainer michael jackson every news channel every hour the top story was michael jackson
08:23confidential documents obtained by nbc news quoted the boy's reference to acts of oral sex
08:28and masturbation the allegations now surfacing are ugly enough to shatter any icon's image kids
08:34everywhere are talking about the scandalous accusations hoping they're not true
08:40has michael jackson ever molested a child ever done anything improper with a child no never no never
08:48no it's crazy my son is not guilty he need a trial these people aren't waiting they're trying to um
08:55trying to they're trying to they're trying him that's right and i'm tired of it
09:22everything was suddenly bad
09:29everything was um emotional talking to michael was different because he was different suddenly he was
09:38no longer the happy michael that i used to talk to he sounded depressed i felt like it was over
09:45like there was no way he could come back from these terrible things being said
09:50so
10:18eventually he came back to america
10:25we had the information from the victim about michael's uh body and specifically the markings
10:33on his body so the only way that a child would see that is if michael was nude then
10:42our unit prepared a search warrant to search or to view michael's body and this included the genitals
10:50we explained to him we have a search warrant signed by the judge to take uh pictures of your private
10:58parts he said you assholes the outcome was that evidence that was provided by jordan chander
11:12he was confirmed
11:17yeah we'd uh we'd like to talk to michael jackson has he come back
11:22no comment sir no comment huh i don't necessarily think he's guilty but um i don't necessarily think
11:29he's innocent either because um i don't know well i don't know if he's guilty or not but i think
11:34that
11:34he needs to come back and face the charges he's looking pretty guilty right now
11:42there is real fear tonight that the catastrophic publicity
11:46will result in the destruction of a billion dollar empire and the ruin of a man
11:56sony stock has fallen because investors are very much concerned that the huge investment that they
12:02have in michael jackson is in fact not going to pay off when the allegations surfaced
12:11i read them watched them on tv like everyone else did um and i felt that they were extremely unfair
12:22michael jackson was unequivocally the biggest artist in the company
12:30and if he's not succeeding
12:34guess what jobs get lost
12:38is michael jackson going to make any statement he's got a whole cadre of international cameras there
12:44every night
12:51after that point michael had been laying low but once the allegations are out there you can't take
12:58them back again and so we needed to get in front of the public to unequivocally deny these allegations
13:09michael jackson came out of seclusion today without leaving home
13:13the pop star angrily rejected accusations he molested a young boy and lashed out at police
13:18and the media there have been many disgusting statements made recently concerning allegations
13:25of improper conduct on my part these statements about me are totally false at every opportunity
13:32the media has dissected and manipulated these allegations to reach their own conclusions
13:38i ask all of you to wait and hear the truth before you label or condemn me
13:43don't treat me like a criminal because i am innocent
13:48jackson's defiant declaration of innocence comes as the latest counterpoint in a case that's saturated
13:54with rumor innuendo and almost daily revelations about the singer separating fact from fiction can be difficult
14:16for years i've been working for michael who unfortunately has been the victim of this and
14:21other types of extortion attempts the demand for 20 million dollars was made and presented it was
14:28flatly and consistently refused many people try to extort michael because of who he is and you know the
14:35amount of money he has and these people wanted 20 million dollars as far as the victim is concerned
14:40i did not get anything as far as any like money motivation however the parents were a different
14:49story the hollywood reporter and entertainment trade paper said today that the boy's father had
14:54negotiated with jackson for a 20 million dollar movie deal the father is a prominent beverly hills
15:00dentist and part-time screenwriter cbs news has obtained a taped phone conversation the voices
15:06reportedly the father of the 13 year old boy if i go through with this i win big time i
15:11will get
15:12everything i want the father did in fact ask for money to keep the situation quiet so it did um
15:22hurt the case a little bit i think it's pathetic that that somebody would would go after
15:26someone like michael jackson was was such vigor and it's obvious what they want and uh it seems
15:32obvious to me that he is innocent now that there's a lot of people in this business that try and
15:35take
15:35advantage of people and uh you know i'm sure that it will all work out and i'm sure that he's
15:41innocent
15:42you know but only god knows the truth you know more and more people started to question the allegations
15:53so the management team started capitalizing on that momentum the main strategy was to um endear michael
16:06to the black community and to get the black community back on michael's side because once the black
16:12community's behind you you got it because you know we're a big group and um race relations um at that
16:21time it was a hotbed parts of los angeles erupted in unrest after a jury acquitted four white los
16:34angeles police officers over the videotape beating of rodney king a black motorist
16:50what happened with rodney king it doesn't make no sense to me they treating black people like we're
16:55dogs you know like we can't get nowhere we have no rights that the white man respect race is tearing
17:03america apart now more than ever minority americans believe there are two kinds of justice the white
17:11kind and the kind they get someone was friends with this african-american attorney named johnny cochran
17:23and so he suggested that johnny would be the best person for um for michael's case not only because he's
17:30black but also because he was brilliant mr cochran let me start with you why do you think it was
17:36important for michael jackson to speak out now well i think katie that after months of being barraged
17:42with negative uh attacks it was time everyone who was on michael's team knew that having a black face as
17:51the front man for the defense would um bring the black community to michael's defense as well
18:02the king of pop rock and soul mr michael jackson
18:08michael's first public appearance after his statement about the allegations was at the
18:14naacp image awards and that's the national association for the advancement of colored people
18:24i was in the audience when michael walked out on that stage the house went crazy
18:34everyone was in support of michael no one wanted to believe these allegations
18:41for decades the naacp had stood at the forefront of the struggle for equal justice under the law
18:48for all people in our land and his speech was based on being a proud black man and how you
18:56know we have
18:57to stick together against racial inequality and in injustice everyone is presumed to be innocent and
19:05totally innocent until they are charged with a crime and then convicted by a jury of their peers
19:22it was such a powerful speech
19:31it was such a powerful speech with all the stuff that was happening to the black community
19:38it felt like michael's innocence was important and it was what we needed
19:51everybody wanted him to be back on top
20:05the family of a teenage boy is dropping its charge that michael jackson molested the boy
20:11larry carroll tells us the civil suit is now over
20:19we wish to jointly announce a mutual resolution of this lawsuit this boy wanted to get on with his life
20:29when that case was settled and i believe that the payout for that settlement was
20:3720 million or maybe a little more over 20 million dollars the family accepted the settlement the
20:45resolution of this case is in no way an admission of guilt by michael jackson being a megastar like
20:53he was he had the advantage with money with attorneys with really coming out and doing pretty much
21:02whatever he wanted uh in order to defend himself so that was pretty much the end of our case
21:10i felt bad because rosie and i we were certain that we had a good case but uh when the
21:19victim doesn't
21:20want to testify there is a say that says no victim no crime
21:27so nothing that we could do
21:36read all about it hollywood sex scandals heidi's little black book the hollywood hooker and heidi gate
21:46lonnie anderson says burt's a dud in bed oh in this billion dollar business there's only one story
21:55that's guaranteed a big name in trouble that's the best news of all but of course the one that's
22:02grabbing the headlines right now are the allegations about michael jackson the biggest superstar in the
22:09world michael jackson is our window into the new news business and the magazine shows talk shows
22:16news chats that feed off tabloid truth michael jackson violator or victim what do you think about
22:24michael well i i think it's true he settled for all that money he settled for all that amount of
22:31money
22:31i think he something's up when he settles for over 10 million dollars to shut someone up
22:35anyhow it's it's a shame because i think michael's been dragged through the model lives you know he's
22:39a i don't know if he's a victim or if he did it or not but like he's lost that
22:44that wholesome image
22:44forever you know
22:49the allegations really changed how the public i think thought of him
22:55and michael had to kind of rehabilitate that image
23:04people had been obsessed with michael's sexuality his whole life
23:10and his managers thought it would be cool if the press found out that michael had a girlfriend
23:27and lisa started dating soon after the allegations had been settled
23:41he knew that marrying elvis presley's daughter would be headlines everywhere everyone would be
23:48talking about that and they'd no longer talk about this horrible time in his life
23:54with this ring i do it you've heard the talk for weeks it's surprising and it's apparently true
24:01the daughter of elvis presley confirms today she is now married to michael jackson let's go to vince
24:06dimitri in new york vince john uh hopefully you can see behind me the throngs of uh stargazers right
24:13behind me we are just outside of the world famous trump tower where donald trump tells us yes indeed
24:19that lisa marie presley and her new beau michael jackson are hold up here on the top floor
24:23well i'm very very happy for them i think it's great they're very happy and uh i think everybody's
24:31happy they're they're great people
24:36i first met michael in 1988. michael was on tour in germany at that time and uh sort of called
24:46me and said
24:46michael is a big fan of mine and he would love to meet me and um we hit it up
24:52and he got to know
24:54the whole family i also knew lisa maria presley because spent lots of time in los angeles
25:04so i knew them separately and then later lisa came to me one day and said look michael is hitting
25:11on me
25:12and he he actually wants to marry me what do you think should i do that so i said go
25:16for it for him
25:18it was also he liked lisa because she was the daughter of the king so he was also a king
25:25king of pop yeah
25:34this is a big deal we had never seen him get romantic with a woman like this ever i'm very
25:42happy to be here
25:44and just think nobody thought this would last
25:57it did work in the way that michael wanted it to work in that everyone was talking about it
26:04but at the same time the public wasn't really buying it it's all cover up it's all cover up from
26:11uh the little child thing that's what i think it is it's about it you don't think it's true love
26:15no
26:16i think it's a sham a heterosexual marriage would certainly take some of the heat off
26:21being accused of being a homosexual pedophile
26:28but michael and lisa were only together for around 18 months
26:35it's splitsville for graceland and neverland many of you may find this hard to believe
26:40but lisa marie presley and michael jackson are getting a divorce so tony it looks like the gloved
26:46one is no longer the loved one oh such a sad story sorry to hear that sorry to see that
26:53what a
26:53shock what a surprise it was kind of hard to watch he was trying to maintain his position as like
27:03the biggest superstar in the world and it wasn't quite working this is a man who changed the music
27:13industry he is a musical genius and people don't think of him in that sense anymore they think of him
27:22as a freak is there any way that he can lift himself out of this trough that he has largely
27:27dug for
27:28himself
27:29so
27:30so
27:58When he was working on the history of the
28:00history album, Michael called me and said,
28:03look, I want to use some of your paintings for the artwork.
28:08That was the painting that he really liked,
28:13and then spontaneously he wrote this poem directly on the picture.
28:19With such confusion, don't it make you want to scream?
28:24You try to cope with every lie,
28:27to scrutinize somebody, please have mercy,
28:31because I just can't take it.
28:39If you listen to the lyrics and the songs
28:42and the overall vibe of the tracks on History,
28:45they're very aggressive.
28:47They're very defensive.
28:55Even the screen video is very dark for Michael.
29:03Then for the history album promo,
29:05Michael chose a dictator-esque image.
29:09He's got these military troops marching behind him
29:12and a godlike aura.
29:16That's what he wanted to push out there,
29:18still on top, still, you know,
29:21the biggest pop superstar in the history of music.
29:25Tower Bridge was raised this afternoon
29:27to allow a 30-foot statue of rock star Michael Jackson
29:30to pass along the Thames on a barge.
29:35I think it's brilliant.
29:36It's just the best thing that's happened on the River Thames.
29:39He's a mega star, yeah?
29:40They call him the king of pop,
29:41so if he can afford to do this, why not?
29:46For the history tour,
29:47Michael decided to focus on his fan base abroad.
29:51And his popularity continued over in Europe,
29:55in the UK, Asia, versus the US,
29:58where it was kind of slipping a little bit
30:00because of the allegations
30:01and all the media circuits around that.
30:13It's like a dream come true.
30:15I touched him.
30:17I'm not going to raise my hand.
30:24I remember this one time
30:26I was with Michael in Budapest.
30:29And the hotel was surrounded,
30:33under siege by thousands of young people.
30:40And what he did,
30:42he drew the curtain a little bit
30:44and then he had this club one.
30:46And people screeched.
30:48It was like an explosion down there.
30:54He was laughing.
30:55He said,
30:56Oh my God, look.
30:57Do you hear?
30:57Do you hear?
31:04I think there's a deep desire
31:06to look up for people that are bigger than life,
31:09as role models
31:10or as somebody you can worship.
31:12I mean,
31:13I think that's what mankind needs.
31:15But I think the danger is
31:18when everybody worships you
31:22is that you start to believe it
31:23in a way that you start to worship yourself.
31:26And I think that's very dangerous.
31:27Hello, Michael.
31:28Can I have a hug, please?
31:30Please, may I hug you?
31:33I love you.
31:35I love you.
31:35I love you.
31:36But he was enjoying that.
31:37He liked to have that effect on people.
31:40I love you.
31:42Oh, my God.
31:43Sorry, sorry.
31:44This way.
31:44I'm the leader.
31:45Germany loves you, Michael.
31:46I love Germany.
31:47Oh, my God, I love you.
31:49I love you.
31:49I love you.
31:50I love you.
31:51I love you.
31:54I love you.
31:58I love you.
31:59I love you.
32:00I love you.
32:03You really run into the Die Hard fan.
32:06It's unbelievable.
32:08It's like a religious experience.
32:12you're like their God
32:16some people will say
32:18I don't worship
32:20but I don't think it's anything bad
32:26it's just so beautiful
32:30they are my life
32:50okay
32:52stay on your side
32:54stay in that corner
32:55stay in that corner
32:56stay in that corner
32:59Michael
33:02step back
33:04please
33:06please
33:22when I met Michael
33:24I saw that he was addicted to fame
33:27I was a well-known rabbi
33:33and Michael and I had become friends
33:38Michael really needed to be loved
33:40and he chose to be loved
33:42really in an unhealthy way
33:45which was through superstardom
33:48and the devotion of fans
33:58I said to him
33:59you've made the mistake of substituting love
34:01for this cheap forgery called attention
34:05and attention is never a good substitute for love
34:09it's never real
34:12this attention became an addiction
34:16because he interpreted as love
34:17and it became a monster
34:19I felt that one of my principal objectives
34:30was to tether him back to humility
34:37and so our conversations became kind of therapy
34:46he wanted every word
34:48recorded for posterity
34:50we recorded it on these two
34:52flimsy dicta machines
34:55you know
34:56on these tiny little tapes
35:00honestly
35:01when somebody walks at the gym
35:02and says
35:02I love you so much
35:04it makes my heart feel so good
35:07like you can never get tired of it
35:16but is it also that
35:17the fans show you love
35:18based on your performance
35:20rather than you
35:26well
35:28I feel that love
35:29but it's from a distance
35:33it's not intimate
35:34I guess
35:41he needed something
35:42to live for
35:44and
35:45as he explained it to me
35:46he always wanted to be around kids
35:49he loved the innocence of a child
35:51he loved
35:52the creativity of a child
35:54because
35:55for him the adult world
35:56was people wanting money from him
35:57and people wanting
35:58to know him
35:59for all the wrong reasons
36:09at that time
36:10in his life
36:12I think that
36:13Michael
36:14wanted to be
36:15a father
36:20because
36:21kids
36:22as long as you give them
36:23unconditional love
36:24they really give it back
36:25they are mirror reflections
36:27of the love
36:27that we give them
36:28and he was going to give them
36:29the greatest love
36:29and they didn't
36:31and that's what happened
36:48who is that?
36:51who is that?
37:06I think having children gave him a renewed sense of purpose, a renewed sense of energy
37:13and direction.
37:22It is, it is.
37:34I want to be successful at being a great father.
37:40I want them to say we felt completely loved and he was like incredible.
37:48That's my biggest dream, one day for Princeton Parish, just to say to somebody, he was the
37:53best dad.
37:55One, two, three, surprise!
38:02Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you.
38:10I've been working with Michael for four years by the time he had his children.
38:18When Princeton Parish came along, I saw a different person.
38:29Can we do one where we are just pointing the camera at us?
38:33His life was now about the children.
38:37That was his priority.
38:41And he was getting more and more absolutely clear about his future.
38:47He was saying, Dieter, I did everything I could do in my life for the music.
38:54And I think I did it well and everybody made a lot of money, but new people coming, other
39:01music is coming.
39:03And he had the feeling he will never be successful like he was.
39:08And he was fine with it.
39:10Michael said he didn't want to be a trained monkey forever.
39:15It's over.
39:16Give it to Armin, come on, let's do it.
39:21But when you start not to do what this, he called it system, once, then you're in trouble.
39:31Let's make it sweet, we are.
39:52You never thought it would work before
39:55When you live all your love and you give them your all
39:59You can all
40:01Sony was pushing him to continue his career
40:05They were trying to get him to finish this album
40:09Invincible
40:09It wasn't my business, but, you know, screw the album
40:13We have to make your life healthy again
40:17So there was a war for the soul of Michael Jackson
40:25Sony Music was one of the biggest labels in the world
40:29Hands Down
40:31And with Michael
40:33Well, that's a lot of money
40:34Changing hands
40:36So, yes, it's cutthroat
40:41But Sony Music was no more cutthroat than any other label
40:48Michael's relationship
40:49Was the contentious one with his record label
40:55I was there to help facilitate a record he was putting out called Invincible
41:01Which was his official last studio record with Sony
41:04And things were going over budget
41:08We had rented out the entire floor at the Plaza Hotel in New York
41:13And for anybody who doesn't know that, that is extremely expensive, crazy
41:17And he wasn't even showing up for things
41:23A record company is there to make money
41:25They are an investment firm, in a way
41:27Who has invested in you to produce something
41:32When we got the phone call that this was
41:34You know, how dare you
41:36This was the most expensive record we've ever made
41:38You know, and I'm like, oh, okay
41:40I'm like, how much?
41:4130 million?
41:42I'm like, oosh
41:43So it was kind of
41:44It was a problem
41:47But everybody was really trying to get him in tow
41:52So we could make a deadline for album release
41:58There's one time where I was asked to pick up a package
42:01At a house that apparently was being sold and is empty
42:05And in the mailbox was this package
42:08And I opened it up
42:09And it happened to be full of Demerol
42:11Which is a prescription pain medication
42:16But a lot of it
42:17It was an unknown thing that you don't ask
42:21I said, what's going on?
42:24And I was like, oh, okay
42:26Never mind
42:29But then he would go to the studio
42:31As long as he had his magical pills
42:35But it was all so confusing at the same time
42:37It wasn't
42:38I'm not there to look at someone and unwrap the package
42:41I'm there to get records done, right?
42:46There were so many people
42:47Who were reliant on him
42:49To be the golden goose that lays eggs again
42:55But he knew that path was corrosive
43:00It frightened me
43:02There was too much conflict going on with him
43:04And I sensed and I saw that I was losing my influence
43:08And I told him
43:09I'm not going to watch you drive your life off a cliff and clap
43:28Invincible has sold two million copies in six months
43:31And that ain't Invincible
43:34The flop of Invincible
43:35Along with a general downturn in sales
43:37Means that Sony's share price had suffered of late
43:44Michael told me, you know what
43:46I can't do this anymore
43:52Michael was done
43:54With the music
43:55And with touring and all of this
44:09But Sony was not happy at all with this
44:13So he knew he has to fight
44:16To come out of this situation
44:23From my vantage point
44:27He got a tremendous amount of support
44:30From Sony Music
44:33But you have to understand
44:34They're artists
44:35They're all narcissists
44:36They can't help themselves
44:38Okay?
44:39If their record's not selling
44:41It's someone's fault
44:43You know?
44:44If their tour's not doing well
44:45It's someone's fault
44:48Someone is always to blame
44:56Michael Jackson is the architect of his own destiny
44:59Like every single human being
45:02Whether you're special or not
45:04You are the creator of the reality you live in
45:10I remember we were required to go to New York City
45:13And then he's whisked off to Al Sharpton's church
45:18I personally think he was jacked up on something
45:25Throughout the years
45:27Black artists have been taken advantage of
45:30Completely
45:31And it's Sony Tommy Mottola
45:35Tommy Mottola is the president of the record division
45:39He is a mean
45:40He's a racist
45:43And he's very, very, very devilish
45:50You know, this just exploded right there
45:53Sony's statement reads
45:55We were deeply offended by the outrageous comments
45:57Mr. Jackson made
45:58Mr. Jackson has committed a serious abuse of power
46:02That comes with celebrity
46:29He told me today you need to help me
46:31It's over
46:34He asked me to terminate all his contracts
46:37With his lawyers
46:39With his team
46:40With everybody
46:42And he did want that
46:45I take over everything
46:51Ladies and gentlemen
46:52My name is Michael Jackson
46:55And rather than writing you a letter
46:57I've found this format to be most efficient
46:59For what I wish to communicate
47:03Peter Weisner from Germany
47:05And myself have entered into an agreement
47:07An exclusive long-term partnership
47:09He gave me the power of attorney
47:11I will personally sign agreements
47:14Or legally authorize my partners
47:16To sign on my behalf
47:19But
47:20And he told me today
47:21The old team
47:22They will be after you
47:25They called once and told me
47:28You take our golden cow
47:30And you have to stop this
47:37But I was on Michael's side
47:38Of course
47:39And I did what he warned
47:42I remember these words
47:44From Michael to me
47:46I put my life
47:47And my future in your hand
48:07When it comes to distributing cookies
48:12We get to see children's real personality
48:15Here, come here
48:18Prince, over here
48:19Before I grind you into hamburgers
48:24No, you want the cookie?
48:25Then you behave
48:31Here
48:32Okay, here
48:33Here's the cookie
48:34Paris, you want some of this?
48:38By that time
48:38I wasn't involved in his life
48:41Paris, you're going to say thank you
48:43Sit around
48:45Paris, you want that?
48:46I received a phone call
48:49From
48:52A producer
48:55That worked with Martin Bashir
48:56Martin Bashir wants to interview Michael Jackson
49:00Okay, you're getting the big one
49:02I got off the phone
49:04And I went to Michael and said
49:05First of all
49:06Your life
49:07It's not ready to be open to the public
49:10Stay a billion miles away from this guy
49:15But Michael was an insecure person
49:17Who is going to look for the validation of the public
49:23He wanted to talk about his whole life
49:27His career
49:28That people really understand him
49:33So Martin Bashir followed Michael
49:35For eight months
49:42How do you write a song?
49:45How do you write a song?
49:46When I wrote Billie Jean
49:47I was riding in my car
49:50Down Ventura Boulevard
49:52All I said to myself
49:53Beforehand
49:54I want to write a song
49:55With a great bass hook
49:56You know
50:01Where did that come from?
50:04From above
50:05The dance as well?
50:06Yeah, same thing
50:07How do you do it?
50:09Can you show me how you do it?
50:10Oh boy
50:11Come on, just get out and show me
50:13Oh, come on
50:13Just show me
50:14Just show me
50:15Just show me
50:16Show me what you do
50:17Teach me
50:18Okay, uh
50:21Oh boy
50:21You're putting me on the spot now
50:23Come on
50:23See
50:24Now people are discovering something about me
50:26I'm really shy
50:26I'm embarrassed
50:27Okay, you're shy
50:28Just get up and show me
50:30Um
50:31Okay
50:35Michael opened the door
50:36For everything
50:47Michael had just had another child
50:54We was in the room
50:55Together
50:56And
50:58Michael
50:59Heard the screaming
51:01From the fans
51:02It was a beautiful feeling
51:09And
51:09Michael was so excited
51:10And I was behind him
51:11He took blanket
51:14But
51:15They had him
51:15Really fast
51:16Under his arm
51:36In the next morning
51:37I came out of my room
51:39And I saw all over the newspaper
51:43It was not a nice
51:45Not a nice picture
51:47But of course
51:48Martin Bashir
51:49He was there
51:51I love you
51:52Here he is
51:54Here's the bottle
51:55Wait, wait
51:56Ah
51:57Here's the bottle
51:58It's okay
51:59Just get this off
52:00Oh, please don't try
52:01Break it
52:01Break it
52:02Break it
52:03Okay, okay
52:03Here we go
52:04Abu
52:04Abu
52:05Abu
52:07Yes
52:08Abu
52:09Break it
52:09Break it
52:10Break it
52:11Break it
52:12Break it
52:12I love you
52:13Break it
52:13Yes, yes, yes
52:16Have you been hearing
52:17About what people
52:18Have been saying
52:19That's totally ignorant
52:20I would never do that
52:21To my children
52:22Or any child
52:23Try to kill them
52:24Come on
52:24Stupid
52:25And why would I put a scarf
52:26Over the baby's face
52:27If I was trying to
52:28Throw them off the balcony
52:30We were waiting
52:30To thousands of fans
52:31Down below
52:32And they were chanting
52:33They wanted to see my child
52:34So I was kind enough
52:35To let them see
52:37I was doing something
52:38Out of innocence
52:45When living with Michael Jackson
52:47As this evening
52:48These streets are going to be deserted
52:50Fans and critics alike
52:52Are saying they're going to be
52:53Staying in to watch the programme
52:55With his reputation in America
52:57Very much at stake
52:58For Michael Jackson
53:00It must be a nervous wait
53:03I didn't want that we watched the documentary
53:05Until I know what happened
53:09But Michael
53:10Of course he
53:11Want to see it
53:12We watched it
53:14On TV
53:15Together
53:20Eight months ago
53:22I put a proposal
53:23To Michael Jackson
53:25Show me the real man
53:26But show me everything
53:28Make nothing off limits
53:29He thought about it
53:31And then he said
53:32Yes
53:33Come to Neverland
53:36We began a journey
53:38Together
53:38Across continents
53:39Through his past
53:41And rapidly
53:42Into the disturbing reality
53:44Of his life today
53:45In the documentary
53:48Was this young boy
53:51Kevin Avizo
53:55And he was taking care of him
53:57When people hear that
53:59Children from other families
54:02Have come and they've stayed
54:03In your house
54:04They've stayed in your bedroom
54:07Well very few
54:08But you know
54:09Some have
54:10And they say
54:12Is that really appropriate
54:14For a man
54:15A grown man
54:16To be doing that
54:16How do you respond to that
54:18I feel sorry for them
54:19Because that's judging someone
54:21Who wants to really help people
54:23Why can't you share your bed
54:26The most loving thing to do
54:27Is to share your bed
54:28With someone
54:30When I saw this
54:32I got a very bad feeling
54:35When you're talking about children
54:37If I
54:38Said well
54:39I've invited some of my daughter's
54:41Friends around
54:42Or my son's friends around
54:43And they're going to sleep
54:44In the bed with me tonight
54:45That's fine
54:46What do you think
54:46Their parents would say
54:47If they're wacky
54:48They would say
54:49You can't
54:50I suppose the problem
54:51For many people
54:52Is what happened in 1993
54:54Or what didn't happen
54:56What didn't happen
55:01One bombshell after another
55:04About his bizarre behavior
55:05In a new British documentary
55:07Jackson admits
55:08He still has sleepovers
55:10With young boys
55:12I felt
55:18Shock
55:19Absolute shock
55:20Have you lost
55:21All touch with reality
55:23That you don't even know
55:25How people
55:25Are going to
55:27React
55:28To that
55:30He said
55:31He slept
55:32In a bed
55:33With children
55:34That are not his own
55:34I mean this isn't made up
55:35This isn't fabricated
55:36What kind of loony
55:37Would A. do it
55:39And B. go on national TV
55:40And admit it
55:42Michael
55:43Cross lines
55:44That clearly
55:45Are uncrossable
55:46Sharing a bed
55:47With a child
55:48That's not yours
55:48Even if it's not sexual
55:49It's still
55:51Insanity
55:52We got the reaction
55:54From all over
55:55Of course
55:56I was terrible
55:57You can't sleep
55:58With strangers
55:59Kids
56:00As much as I love
56:01Michael Jackson
56:02I'm having a hard time
56:03Defending him
56:03Right now
56:03I believe
56:05The child welfare services
56:06Should interview
56:07Every child
56:07That has been
56:08At Neverland
56:09With Mr. Jackson
56:10In his bedroom
56:11Or anywhere else
56:12In the home
56:12Without the presence
56:13Of their parents
56:14Find out what's going on
56:15He couldn't talk
56:17And he was sitting
56:19On his bed
56:20Crying
56:21What's ahead
56:22For Michael Jackson
56:23What do you think
56:23Is ahead after this
56:24A real bumpy road
56:26I don't think
56:27He'll recover
56:27From this one
56:29That documentary
56:30Led directly
56:32Or indirectly
56:33To Michael Jackson's death
56:34There's absolutely
56:35No question about it
56:36That was the beginning
56:37Of the end
56:51Michael Jackson
56:52Wasn't the ordinary pedophile
56:55He had the means
56:56To be able to do things
56:57That no one else
56:58I had ever prosecuted
56:59Could do
57:01In a state
57:03That was 2,800 acres
57:04And a huge house
57:05With multiple locks
57:07A staff that just
57:08Ignored what was going on
57:10That was unique
57:10To Michael Jackson
57:13Gavin
57:14Can you tell us
57:14What your conversations
57:15What you guys
57:16Talked about
57:18He said that
57:19He was going to be
57:21Masturbated
57:21Keep going
57:22I said no
57:25He started
57:26Masturbating me
57:27Okay
57:31We had lost
57:32The opportunity
57:33Ten years earlier
57:36And we were determined
57:37That that not happen again
57:42There we were GOES
57:43Don't lend me
57:44All right
57:45Then we were here
