00:12On this episode of Expedition X, my team heads to the Caribbean island of Trinidad,
00:22a beautiful place with a painful past.
00:25This plantation had the most weapon and mutilation in the whole of Trinidad.
00:30And a haunting present.
00:33She noticed something short, like a child with no face.
00:36When you think you're hunting them, actually you're the one being hunted?
00:42Bro.
00:43Phil and Heather investigate shocking reports of demonic encounters.
00:48When they fell asleep, something was choking them.
00:51There is something evil in that place.
00:55Can they survive the terrors of Trinidad?
01:00I can't breathe.
01:01Phil.
01:14All right, guys, for this next case, you're going to need some sunscreen.
01:18Tell me it's the beach.
01:19And some machetes.
01:20Tell me it's the jungle.
01:22You're both right.
01:23But don't celebrate just yet because there is some disturbing activity at play here.
01:27I want you to watch this video.
01:29Focus on the trees.
01:37Let's see.
01:37Let's see.
01:37Oh.
01:38Whoa.
01:39Is that a shadow figure?
01:40That is some fascinating evidence.
01:45And what's even more disturbing, this was filmed at the site of a former plantation.
01:50And slaves were hanged near this spot 200 years ago.
01:54That's absolutely horrific.
01:55And this video is just one of dozens of escalating paranormal claims.
02:00Not just at the plantation, but all over this Caribbean island.
02:04We're talking terrifying encounters, violent paranormal attacks, even reports of demonic possession.
02:10And what do the people there think?
02:11Well, they think it may be tied to this local religion called Obia.
02:16Think of it as like voodoo, right?
02:18And this is something that was once illegal in Trinidad, but is now practiced out in the open.
02:22And some say with terrifying consequences.
02:31July 31st, 1498.
02:34Christopher Columbus cites a Caribbean island so breathtaking he names it Trinidad in honor of the Holy Trinity.
02:42He claims the island for Spain.
02:44And with that, centuries of conflict begin.
02:51Spain, France, Great Britain, and the Netherlands all brutally battle over Trinidad and its sister island, Tobago.
02:58They fight to control its lucrative sugar and cocoa plantations, causing centuries of suffering.
03:05Indigenous peoples are enslaved, then ravaged by disease.
03:09Meanwhile, Africans are dragged to the island in chains, condemned to work under horrific conditions.
03:16Though slavery is abolished in the British Empire in 1833, the suffering on the island is far from over.
03:24Indentured laborers from India and China are brought to the island to toil in their place.
03:29In this crucible of cruelty, the spiritual beliefs of all those cultures collide, fused into a unique form of magic,
03:39its name often whispered with dread.
03:42Obia.
03:44While some use Obia for good, to heal and cleanse, others are said to use it for evil, to sicken,
03:52dominate, even kill.
03:55In 1780, an enslaved Obia practitioner is said to be burned at the stake in nearby Jamaica, but not before
04:03cursing his killers.
04:05Days later, the island is devastated by a deadly earthquake and tsunami.
04:09By 1868, the leadership of Trinidad is so terrified of Obia that the practice is outlawed.
04:17Those who dare to defy the edict are flogged and imprisoned. Obia is forced into the shadows.
04:24When the ban is officially lifted in the year 2000, many swear there's an immediate uptick in frightening paranormal activity.
04:33With reports of mass demonic possessions, alongside physical attacks by malevolent spirits.
04:40Even more disturbing, at the plantation where this video was taken, several people report horrific encounters with demons unique to
04:49Trinidad.
04:49The Duen, faceless child spirits that mimic voices to lure their victims into danger.
04:56And the Sakunia, a vampire witch who attacks her prey as a ball of fire.
05:03Are evil curses and ancient monsters really plaguing this tropical paradise?
05:09What's really behind the terror?
05:17So if these reports are real, then this could be an extremely dangerous mission.
05:23Absolutely. A place swarming with spirits, possible demonic possessions, and the living are caught in the middle of it all.
05:29It could be some spiritual turf war.
05:31Or it could all just come down to belief.
05:33I mean, think about it. We have multiple cultures swirled together, a brutal history, all under the shadow of a
05:41once outlawed local religion.
05:43I mean, maybe it is just fear spinning out of control.
05:46Maybe. Maybe not.
05:48And that's what the two of you need to find out.
05:50Get to Trinidad and investigate these claims, and determine if fear is driving these encounters, or if there are sinister
05:58forces at work.
05:59Good luck.
06:00It's a five-hour flight from New York City to Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago.
06:07Phil and Heather land at night, but find that this vibrant city is far from asleep.
06:15Welcome to Trinidad!
06:19This is amazing!
06:21This is awesome!
06:25Isn't it about to be a limbo contest?
06:28Yes!
06:28You want to bet on who wins?
06:31Thank you!
06:32How about a loser has to wear a carnival outfit?
06:36Whoa!
06:38Wait, it's on fire?
06:39What?
06:40You go first!
06:43Oh, my God.
06:46No!
06:48What?
06:50Oh, my God.
06:51It's burning.
06:53Wow!
06:55All right, you won!
06:57All right, you won!
06:58All right, you won!
07:03The next morning, Heather and I set off on an hour-long drive through winding jungle roads to the Lopino
07:09plantation.
07:12Hi!
07:12Hi!
07:14Welcome to Lopino!
07:15Donna and her family have been caretakers of Lopino for generations.
07:20Her and her son, DeMar, grew up surrounded by its disturbing history and legends.
07:25What can you tell us about the history of this plantation?
07:28This plantation was founded by Charles Count de Lopino.
07:32He left France and he arrived in this valley in 1806.
07:39Here he built the fastest growing cocoa plantation in Trinidad and Tobago.
07:45And there was big bucks in cocoa.
07:47Yes, yes, it was a big business.
07:49What do we know about Lopino, the man who owned this?
07:53This man was a brutal, evil master.
07:59This plantation had the most weapon and mutilation in the whole of Trinidad.
08:04It's no doubt due to the brutal history of this plantation that there is unsettled energy.
08:10Yeah.
08:11People are experiencing things.
08:12You sent us a video of something strange moving in the trees.
08:18Yeah.
08:19We had a guy who came to play the violin.
08:21And while he was playing the violin, he noticed something between the trees.
08:27There was no wind, he said.
08:29There were no broken branches.
08:31But they clearly see something passing between the trees.
08:35And I believe it wasn't human.
08:39And where was this taken?
08:41That's right behind us, between the trees there.
08:44Okay.
08:45And what about you?
08:46Have you ever experienced anything?
08:47Yes.
08:48It was a Sunday and I was playing football and one of the friends suggested that we go to the
08:53river.
09:05And all of y'all saw this ball of fire?
09:07Yeah.
09:07All of us saw it and I was so terrified.
09:09A Sukunyant is really like an old lady that turns into a ball of fire and sucks your blood.
09:15So like a vampire?
09:16Like a vampire.
09:18Nobody took any chances.
09:19We just ran out.
09:21People have also seen Duen on this bridge here.
09:25The story goes that if, as a child, you die before your christen, that child would have turned into a
09:32Duen.
09:32My sister had such a horrifying experience.
09:36One night, she was walking over a bridge by the river.
09:42She noticed something short run across, like a child with no face.
09:47His foot was turned backwards.
09:50She took off in a run.
09:52She was hearing anything running behind her.
09:55It chased her.
09:56Yeah, it chased her.
09:58She was screaming and bawling all the way home.
10:01It's something that shook our village to the core.
10:04So the whole village is talking about it.
10:06Yeah.
10:07Why do you think these creatures are here?
10:10Why now?
10:11The slaves that came to Lopini was from Haiti and their religion is Obia.
10:15There's good Obia and there's bad Obia.
10:19Like you might see somebody make a doll and put pins through people.
10:23That is Obia.
10:24So do you think the slaves would use Obia to get revenge?
10:28I wouldn't blame them.
10:29It was against the law.
10:31So they would have most likely had to go into the caves to do their Obia.
10:37But the most terrifying thing is that these creatures, they're supposed to be foreclosed.
10:43However, they are coming to life.
10:46It's like it's real now.
10:48The villagers are terrified.
10:49We want to know what's going on.
10:51And we hope that we get answers.
10:53We'll let you know what we find.
10:54Thank you, Sam.
10:55Thank you so much.
10:58For tonight's investigation,
11:00Phil is heading to the tree line where the shadow figure was caught on camera,
11:03while I start inside Lupino's old house,
11:06hoping to learn whether the cruel plantation master still haunts his one-time home.
11:11With a village nearby, I begin by sealing the place off from any outside noise that could interfere with my
11:17investigation.
11:19I just want to take some pictures of this space because this is the original house of Lupino.
11:25And someone as evil as that can't imagine just going easy into the afterlife.
11:34Is there anyone there?
11:35Can you make a noise?
11:39Ooh!
11:41What was that?
11:44I just heard a knock on his shutter.
11:46It sounded like something knocked or made a noise on this.
11:50Like that.
11:53Are you trying to get my attention?
11:59Bro!
12:02That door just got pulled open.
12:06There's not a lick of breeze in here and I just shut that.
12:15There is no one outside.
12:22Did you just open that door?
12:26Can you do it again?
12:32Can you tell me your name?
12:36Can you open a shutter?
12:40Can you open a door?
12:50Can you open a door?
12:55Oh my god.
13:03I just asked it to open the door or open a shutter.
13:06And it just opened the shutter.
13:08So let me just see from the outside.
13:15I mean you have to wedge your fingers under here to get each of them.
13:24It feels like something is trying to get my attention to draw me outside.
13:29And that makes sense because a lot of the reports we've heard,
13:31it's been activity outside on this land.
13:34So I think I gotta grab my gear and look around.
13:39I'm making my way into the jungle behind the house,
13:42where the plantation's enslaved people would pick the cocoa.
13:45It's also where the shadow figure in the tree was recorded.
13:49So these are the trees in that video.
13:54I can't identify what was moving in that video.
13:58I'm honestly a bit stumped.
14:01Now, there are howling monkeys around here.
14:04So there is life in these trees.
14:06And based on the video, it seemed like the movement was behind these trees.
14:10So I'm gonna head down to the creek, take a look around.
14:21Whoa! Light!
14:25I'm actually seeing a glowing orange light.
14:34Oh, that is a street light.
14:39Basically what I'm seeing looks exactly like what DeMar described.
14:44He said they saw a glowing orange ball of flame near the river.
14:49But, could have just been a street light?
14:52Let's keep going.
14:59As far as what people could be seeing that looks like a Dwen,
15:02to me, it's gotta be an animal.
15:04And actually, this definitely looks like a game trail to me.
15:08Let's see who we can find.
15:11Oh, look, right here.
15:15Whoa, look at that.
15:18Have you seen this?
15:19Am I crazy?
15:20One, two, three, four, five.
15:22That looks like a child's footprint.
15:24It is pretty bizarre because it has to be fresh.
15:28It rained three hours ago.
15:30So within the last three, four hours,
15:32something with a small foot walked through here.
15:36We know there is a town not too far from here.
15:40Maybe kids like to run around in the cacao grove.
15:45Let's say this is the footprint of a Dwen.
15:49How do they walk?
15:50The reports say that they're faceless, but their feet face backwards.
15:55Meaning, instead of going that way, this would be going that way.
16:01Let's see what we find back there.
16:06With the activity in Lupino's home drawing me outside,
16:10I head to the bridge where Donna's sister claims she encountered a Dwen.
16:17If these creatures really do lure people into the wilderness,
16:20I want to make contact.
16:22So, my thought process is,
16:24if Dwen are actually children that passed away,
16:27they might want to play with a toy.
16:29This is a motion-activated toy that will only move if something touches it
16:34or waves their hand right in front of it, like so.
16:37If you touch right here,
16:42it'll take off.
16:44Set my audio recorder.
16:46Let's see if we get any activity.
16:47This is Heather.
16:49I'm on the bridge where Dwen has been sighted.
16:52Is there anyone here with me?
16:54I'll take it as a yes if you touch this car.
16:57Did you open the shutters in the home?
17:08Okay.
17:09So that's a yes.
17:11Were you trying to scare me?
17:18That was not me.
17:20What are you trying to scare me for?
17:23You use my energy?
17:25As power?
17:28Are you a Dwen?
17:32Are you a Secuña?
17:40I was looking for a Dwen.
17:42But this mood?
17:44When I asked if it was a Secuña.
17:47And that could be very bad news.
17:59Okay.
18:05Footsteps.
18:07There was something running back there,
18:10but it just stopped.
18:11That did not sound like scurrying.
18:13That sounded like something big.
18:17Clear out.
18:29Come on.
18:29Show yourself.
18:35Whoa.
18:36Got something.
18:38There's something hovering right out there.
18:41Not even flying.
18:44Oh my God.
18:46I have no idea what that is.
18:51Just disappeared from the flare.
18:54Right up that edge there.
18:56I think I just gotta go for it.
18:59What is back here?
19:05Whoa.
19:05Cliff wall.
19:08I mean, it's possible what I was seeing wasn't actually floating in the air,
19:11but maybe it was on the wall of the cliff.
19:14Let's meet my way up.
19:24Oh my God.
19:26I think I just found a cave entrance.
19:29Must be one of the ones that Donna told us about.
19:32Where slaves used to hide out.
19:34And her Obia rituals would have taken place.
19:37And maybe that is where that floating whatever it was that showed up on the flare came from.
19:44Oh, look at that.
19:51There are bats flying in and out of this place.
19:54This cave is full of activity, but nothing that quite explains that hit I got on the flare of just
20:01that floating ball of heat.
20:04I don't think they can be abandoned.
20:05Look at the way these things are flying.
20:07Look at the way these things are flying.
20:07They do not hover in one place.
20:12Oh my God.
20:14Look at this.
20:16Look at this.
20:24Look at this bottle.
20:26That looks old.
20:28Look at that seam right there.
20:31That tells you that this is a bottle from the 1800s.
20:36There is a very high chance that this was left here by the enslaved people to perhaps even practice their
20:43Obia religion.
20:44I think I can tell Heather.
20:46Heather, you copy?
20:49Yeah, I copy.
20:50What's going on?
20:50I found a cave that may have been used for rituals.
20:54You are going to want to see what I found inside.
20:56You should get over here.
20:56I'll send you the coordinates, okay?
20:57Copy that.
20:58I'll head your way.
21:02No.
21:03Over here.
21:05All right.
21:06Let me show you what I found.
21:07Okay.
21:09Look at that.
21:11Wow.
21:12This is a bottle from the early 1800s and it confirms when this cave was used.
21:18If you're an enslaved person, this cave could have been refuge.
21:23Yeah.
21:24This one you treat with respect.
21:26Okay.
21:27We need to leave it where we found it.
21:28But this seems like a good place to do a call and response session.
21:32Okay.
21:36This is Heather and Phil.
21:39Is there anyone here with us?
21:42You can make a noise.
21:43I'll take it as a yes.
21:46Phil found a bottle that seemed to match the time period of when people who were enslaved
21:51could have found refuge in this cave.
21:54Do you know if any rituals were done in this cave?
21:59If anyone practiced obia in this cave?
22:09That was pretty loud.
22:12I don't know what that was.
22:13I don't know either.
22:19Did you see anything?
22:21I don't see anything moving.
22:23Except all these bats.
22:27Phil and I continue asking questions, but experience no new activity.
22:32Still, there's reason to believe I was communicating with something earlier tonight.
22:36Are you a secuña?
22:39And an obia may be at the heart of it.
22:42The next morning, we split up to follow new leads.
22:46Phil is meeting a former Coast Guard officer who claims a nearby abandoned island is the site of intense paranormal
22:52activity.
22:54Meanwhile, I head to Trinidad's Carnival Museum to learn more about the many frightening creatures that are central to the
23:00country's traditions.
23:02Wow, look at all these carnival costumes.
23:04Are they amazing?
23:05Yes.
23:06I'm speaking with Najim Glasgow Mehta, a local folklorist who hopefully can shed light on the strange activity I experienced
23:14last night.
23:15We experienced a lot of activity last night.
23:17All of that activity seemed to lead me out onto the land, like a dwind.
23:23But then, it seemed to imply that it was a secuña.
23:28Ah.
23:30All I can say is be wary of that.
23:32The secuña is an old obia woman who made a pact with the devil to give her immortality.
23:42They need to sustain themselves on the life essence of the living.
23:48Now, there are certain ways of protecting oneself.
23:51One is salt.
23:52Mm.
23:53If you put salt by your window or by your door, they have to count every single grain before they
23:59can move on.
24:01Always make sure you have salt to hand.
24:02But like you said, these noises were calling you out.
24:05Yes.
24:06Be mindful of that.
24:07Don't be too hasty to go.
24:09The goal is to bring you to them.
24:11To lure me in.
24:12Yeah.
24:13Always remember whether it's a secuña or a dwind.
24:17These entities can manifest themselves in many different ways.
24:20It can be an animal that just comes and is interacting with you.
24:25See past that veil.
24:28You never know how it's going to manifest itself.
24:34While Heather explores Trinidad's monsters and myths, I head to the marina to meet a witness Josh found
24:40who claims some of the country's most disturbing activity is happening just offshore on Shaka Shikari Island.
24:47How are you Ian?
24:49Hey.
24:50Ian Cross is a former lieutenant commander of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard,
24:55who says even his toughest men were no match for the island's horrors.
25:00So I understand you were in the Coast Guard and Shaka Shikari was under your purview.
25:06Yeah.
25:07Originally, it was a cotton plantation.
25:10And then in the 1920s, it became a leper colony.
25:14And everybody left because of the stigma of leprosy.
25:19One by one, the patients died out.
25:22When there were only a few left, they were moved to the mainland.
25:25And that is when serious things started happening.
25:27Serious like what?
25:30One night, while I was on duty, I got a strange call from the men at the base.
25:36They had terrified.
25:39And went down there and entered the dormitory.
25:43And saw the men sitting back to back with their guns at the ready.
25:50When they fell asleep, something was choking them.
25:55Choking them?
25:56They could physically feel a hand around their neck.
26:03Couple of the men said they saw a figure in a black robe.
26:07It was a female.
26:09And I said, that's unbelievable.
26:11I said, I'm going to bring my children and wife down here to sleep to show y'all is rubbish.
26:17The men slept in the dormitory and my wife and children slept in the chapel.
26:22That night, my daughter came to me.
26:26She said, Daddy, something was choking me.
26:29I couldn't breathe.
26:30When I opened my eyes, I saw a person with a black hood over the head.
26:35I mean, that sounds exactly like what?
26:39The Coast Guard men were reporting.
26:41Yes.
26:41And I asked them, I said, did you talk to the Coast Guard men about anything along here?
26:45He said, no.
26:46We didn't talk to any of them.
26:48So completely independently, she had the exact same experience.
26:52Exact same experience.
26:53I mean, at that point, you got to start thinking, maybe there's something to this.
26:58Yes.
26:59Even though I'm a skeptic, there is something evil, very evil in that place.
27:09We're heading out to Shaka Shikari Island.
27:11What can you tell me about what we might encounter on the island?
27:14Shaka Shikari, wow.
27:16You would find John B's for sure.
27:18A jumbie is just a ghost who died and they've not been able to move on.
27:24And jumbies can't cross water.
27:27If jumbies can't cross water, then potentially all of the spirits on that island are trapped.
27:33Right there.
27:34Do you think this could be dangerous?
27:36It can be.
27:37The entities that are there can be violent entities.
27:40You have to understand that you're in their space.
27:42When you think you're hunting them, actually, you're the one being hunted.
27:49With that stern warning from Najin, I meet back up with Phil and we set sail towards the sinister shores
27:55of Shaka Shikari Island.
28:06My expert said that jumbies are trapped by water.
28:09And if you live such a horrific and painful existence as the lepers did and then you die on that
28:14island, who's to say you don't become a jumbie yourself and you're trapped?
28:18That is what we have to find out.
28:19Is it a creature like the wind or is it a jumbie?
28:23But if they're getting physically attacked, it could be a secunia, especially if they feel like it's a female entity.
28:28Okay, so this should be interesting.
28:30You thought this was your dream haunted island?
28:33Yeah.
28:33Well, turns out there's also an unusual concentration of poisonous, deadly trees and venomous scorpions.
28:41We both have something to look forward to.
28:45Oh, there it is!
28:48Wow, look at this place.
28:51That's not creepy at all.
28:52Oh, my gosh.
28:55What secrets are hidden out here?
29:11Wow, look at this place.
29:15I think the term hauntingly beautiful was defined by this.
29:20I think you're right.
29:22Wait, wait.
29:24This is the Manganeal Tree.
29:26The Death Tree.
29:28This is the Death Tree?
29:29Yes.
29:30Everything about this thing is toxic.
29:32If you eat that fruit, you die.
29:34If you burn its wood, the smoke will blind you.
29:38Even if it rains tonight and water hits those leaves that hits your skin, you get agonizing blisters.
29:44Great.
29:45And here it is to welcome us to the island.
29:47What a welcome.
29:48Let's stay low.
29:49Don't even step on the fruit.
29:50You don't want that on your boots.
29:53I've never been afraid of a tree before, but here I am.
29:56Along with the natural threats, there are also the supposed supernatural ones.
30:02Sacuñas, Dwen, and especially Jumbies.
30:05Restless spirits rumored to hitch rides on passing boats.
30:09They said the boat will start rocking with no waves because it's a bay.
30:13It's unnatural.
30:15Set it up maybe from the window in here?
30:17Yeah, right here.
30:19Perfect.
30:19We set up an IR camera pointed at the jetty, ready to catch any strange activity, boat rocking Jumbie spirits
30:25included.
30:26It should pick up any movement.
30:28Okay, and if that movement coincides with any activity we get, we know we're going to be on to something.
30:33Great.
30:34Then we set out for the dormitory, where the Coast Guard men reported feeling choked while they slept.
30:49Look.
30:50Punk bed frames.
30:51Yeah.
30:52This has got to be the convent that was used as a dormitory when the Coast Guard was here.
30:56Let's get in there and see what we can find.
30:58Okay.
31:02Wow, these stairs have totally collapsed.
31:09Oh, thanks.
31:19Oh, my God.
31:23I do not like this, Heather.
31:25I don't either.
31:27Is that another level?
31:31There's stairs.
31:35Very broken stairs.
31:39Oh.
31:41What?
31:42There's something up there.
31:50Okay.
31:52So far, so good.
31:57Oh.
31:58Shh.
32:00I see her moving up there.
32:02Yeah.
32:02You heard that?
32:03Yeah.
32:20It's not weird that that's cut out like a human figure.
32:22Yeah, like a small human figure.
32:25Some would even say twin size.
32:28Oh.
32:29That is weird.
32:30Yeah.
32:31Yeah.
32:32There's one here and one there.
32:34Every single one of these rooms.
32:36Good Lord.
32:39I do not like it here.
32:42I'm telling you, there was something moving up here.
32:45I heard it clear as day.
32:47Okay.
32:51Something just wrestled down there.
33:01There's definitely something back there.
33:03There's a big one.
33:08Yeah.
33:09Yeah.
33:10Yeah.
33:12Yeah.
33:12Yeah.
33:13Yeah.
33:17Yeah.
33:18Yeah.
33:19Raleigh hacked his way through Trinidad's jungle in 1595, his guides warned him of a frightening,
33:25inky black lake said to be punishment from the gods. The guide spoke of an ancient people who
33:31killed and ate hummingbirds, sacred creatures believed to carry the souls of ancestors.
33:37Angered, their deities opened the earth, swallowing their village whole and spitting it out as a black
33:43lake. Despite the ominous story, Raleigh forged ahead and found it. Known as the La Brea Lake,
33:50it's actually the world's largest natural deposit of asphalt. 10 million tons of it. Higher quality
33:57than anything humans can make, the asphalt has since spread across the globe, literally. It's
34:02used on airport runways, the Lincoln Tunnel, even in front of Buckingham Palace. You could say all roads
34:11lead to Trinidad.
34:19What was that?
34:23Oh. You know what that is? What? I think that was a Chachalaka. A Chachalaka? It's kind of like a
34:32jungle turkey. They must be roosting in the trees over here. Yeah?
34:42What is weird is I hear it move. I cannot see it.
34:48Oh, Phil. What?
34:50Look at the ground.
34:52I do not trust these floorboards. My witness said we have to pay attention to everything on
34:59this island. Whatever that noise is, it literally took you to very dangerous ground. Seriously.
35:06Yeah. All right. Let me move quick. Ready?
35:08Yeah.
35:13That is my weakness when I'm in the jungle and I hear something. I got to figure out what it
35:18is.
35:18I know. But we can't trust anything out here. Even the animals could be another way for these
35:23folklore creatures to manifest. What? You think it's trying to get me? Look at where it led you.
35:29Yeah. I shouldn't have walked over there. No. Look, I don't trust whatever it is that's out there.
35:35Let's go back downstairs. Okay. Yeah. I think you're right.
35:52Oh, look at that. Coast Guard. Got to be in the right place.
35:56Yeah. And look at the bunk beds. This would have been the dormitory.
35:59They would have been sleeping at night. Probably the beds lined up against the wall.
36:03And right here in the middle is what my witness said. He found them sitting back to back.
36:11Guns in hand. I mean, can you imagine that? These are trained soldiers.
36:17Yeah. I can't imagine being so terrified that you are back to back.
36:21Something must have gotten to them.
36:23Yeah.
36:24But I'm still not convinced that there is a entity here. I think it was fear built on this crazy
36:30environment out here. They would be sleeping on the bunks and they would wake up feeling choked.
36:35So, I'd be happy to tempt fate. What if I lay down?
36:39Yeah.
36:40Try to go to sleep?
36:42Let me just get an audio recorder.
36:44But, I got my UV light. Before I lay down in this place, I'm checking for scorpions.
36:50Because there are a lot of them here and I do not want to lay down on one.
36:54So, this is Heather. Phil has offered to use himself as bait.
37:00By all means, if anyone's here, turn Phil into a believer.
37:08Okay.
37:10You lay down and I am going to take some pictures.
37:14See if something's staring over you.
37:21Try to put yourself in a relaxed state.
37:25Even if you don't go to sleep, any images that pop up in your head, any thoughts that seem
37:31relevant to this space, those can all be clues to what was actually here.
37:38There's a spirit in here, a dwind, a jumbie, a secunia, make a noise, show up in these
37:49pictures, send fill an image.
37:59It's, it's random, but I keep getting this image of a square hole in the wall.
38:04A wall?
38:05Yeah, a wall, a hole.
38:08I don't know why that keeps popping in my head.
38:15I'm hearing footsteps again, hearing that.
38:17I'm hearing footsteps.
38:19I don't know.
38:20I'm not moving.
38:22Greer's not moving.
38:26I've got to say, it doesn't sound like an animal scurrying.
38:29It definitely sounds like footsteps that that was not an animal.
38:34Is there anyone here with us?
38:41That was under the house.
38:42That was underneath me.
38:44You felt that?
38:46Yes.
38:47What the hell was that?
38:50Shh, listen, listen.
38:53There's something moving right underneath me in the floorboards.
38:58I've got to get down there.
39:08Where would I have been?
39:10Right under this?
39:11Yeah.
39:14Do you see anything?
39:15Nothing yet.
39:17There are literally cracks in every single piece of foundation in here.
39:21But I just feel like I have to see if there's some kind of explanation for what I just felt.
39:38No footprints.
39:40This dust leaves marks pretty easily.
39:46I'm not seeing anything fresh.
39:56Jeez.
39:57Look at this foundation.
39:58See this?
39:59Yeah.
40:00Oh, my God.
40:02It's literally crumbling.
40:03Yeah.
40:04Phil?
40:05What?
40:06Again, a noise.
40:07Drew you somewhere.
40:09You know where you're at?
40:10How dangerous that is?
40:11What, do you think something's trying to, what, kill me here?
40:14You are literally underneath a crumbling building.
40:17I mean, you're not wrong.
40:18I think you need to get out.
40:20All right.
40:21I'm moving.
40:31You good?
40:33You need some water?
40:37You okay?
40:38Yeah.
40:39You okay?
40:43I can't breathe.
40:44Oh, my God.
40:48Next time on Expedition X, my team continues their shocking investigation, exploring the
40:56light and dark sides of Trinidad's secretive Obia.
41:01It's hurting your body weak.
41:03They could destroy you in seconds.
41:05In seconds.
41:06Reports of a mass demonic possession at a high school in a remote village.
41:11Somebody complained of being strangled and scratched.
41:14They told me I tried to jump off the second floor balcony.
41:18Leads Phil and Heather to the abandoned home of one of Obia's most infamous figures.
41:24Multiple people have died on her property.
41:27Yeah.
41:28As they come face to face with the terrors of Trinidad.
41:32Whoa.
41:33What is that?
41:34Oh, my God.
41:35Oh, my God.
41:35Oh, my God.
41:35Oh, my God.
