00:02:54Good job!
00:02:56Woo!
00:02:59Woo!
00:03:01Woo!
00:03:04Thank you, brother.
00:03:05What is your name?
00:03:07KJ Willis
00:03:09I'm 35 years old, and I'm the singing barber from Memphis, Tennessee
00:03:1514 to 15 years ago, I started cutting hair
00:03:18And I would be in the barber shop singing and having a great, great time
00:03:22There was a time when he was most definitely cutting my hair, if you get my drill
00:03:27And singing at the same time
00:03:28At the same time
00:03:29I did not get a family discount
00:03:31Oh, I charged him full price
00:03:32No
00:03:33No, no
00:03:34To be a part of the first ever voice battle of champions makes me feel like a winner already
00:03:44All right, what y'all thinking about coaches?
00:03:46Kelly Clarkson
00:03:48Okay
00:03:49John Manchin
00:03:50Okay, wait a minute, y'all supposed to be on the same page?
00:03:52Kelly is a well-rounded artist
00:03:54Okay
00:03:55She has a history of wins
00:03:57That's the coach
00:03:59What?
00:03:59How can you lose with y'all legends?
00:04:01Kelly has the most wins
00:04:02Y'all gonna make me pick Adam Levine
00:04:04I like Adam
00:04:07KJ, you're in very capable hands here with these two legends, so I will
00:04:13I get to be one too?
00:04:14Oh, sorry, not legends
00:04:15I don't want to give John the one up
00:04:17Oh, these two icons
00:04:18He named himself, I'm naming myself Icon
00:04:21Kelly Idol
00:04:22Kelly Idol
00:04:23Is sitting right there
00:04:24That's fitting
00:04:25That's fitting
00:04:25If you need to consult with anyone about your decision, just let me know
00:04:29All right
00:04:31I'm gonna coach you right off the bat
00:04:32You cannot teach someone to be that kind of passionate and comfortable on stage
00:04:35Yeah
00:04:36You have such a gift
00:04:37I would suggest just holding back a little bit and save those spots
00:04:41Because if you're doing it the whole time, people can lose sight of how special it is
00:04:46If you choose me, which I hope you do
00:04:47I would just suggest picking those moments to shine
00:04:51So when you get to the finale, people are like
00:04:53Damn
00:04:54Yeah
00:04:55I hope you pick my team, you're so soulful
00:04:57Your range is incredible
00:04:59Thank you
00:04:59I will hand off to legend
00:05:02KJ, what kind of music are you into and what are you doing?
00:05:05I'm from Memphis, Tennessee
00:05:06Yeah
00:05:07I love love music, that's how I fell in love with your music
00:05:10Oh, thank you
00:05:10Thank you
00:05:11Well, it was nice to meet you
00:05:15Continue, tell me more
00:05:16My dad is a pastor, my mom is a pastor
00:05:19I grew up in the church
00:05:20In Memphis, you know, there's a big soul scene
00:05:22There's a big live music scene
00:05:24Absolutely
00:05:25And I got a chance to tour with Babyface
00:05:26Amazing
00:05:28Your tone is impeccable
00:05:30You've got texture, you've got soul
00:05:33You've got just sauce on it
00:05:36It's just a beautiful, beautiful voice
00:05:38I know you're gonna do really well on this competition
00:05:41And I would love to be your coach
00:05:43I grew up as a preacher's kid as well
00:05:46Oh, damn
00:05:47And directed at church choir
00:05:49I got a new song with Tasha Cobb's winner
00:05:51Oh, come on! Come on!
00:05:54I know where you come from
00:05:55I believe you can be amazing on this show
00:05:58Thank you so much
00:05:59I just wanna say, you mentioned Babyface
00:06:01And I've been able to work with him
00:06:02I actually worked with him, I don't know if people know this
00:06:03On my very first record
00:06:04I'm only dropping this because I'm just trying to win you over
00:06:07But I literally have a residency in Vegas
00:06:09And Babyface came to my show
00:06:11And he's like so supportive
00:06:14And I love working with him
00:06:16Babyface is a friend of mine
00:06:18That's fine
00:06:18He was at my house
00:06:19Well, we were texting after my show
00:06:20We watched the Super Bowl together at my house
00:06:23I'm whatever
00:06:23I'm not that close
00:06:24But like I would hang
00:06:26I'm a huge fan too
00:06:27I know people see me as like a pop star
00:06:29Or in the country world too
00:06:31But I grew up on those Tony Braxton albums
00:06:33Like I grew up on everything he did
00:06:35I just, you know, just think about it
00:06:37Uh-huh
00:06:39I just want you to know
00:06:40Babyface was able to come from R&B
00:06:42But become hugely popular across genre boundaries
00:06:46And so you never wanna forget your roots
00:06:49Because they define who you are as an artist
00:06:51And I feel like I'm able to help you do that
00:06:53So let's do it together KJ
00:06:55Hey, roots are important
00:06:56But so are wings
00:06:58I'm just saying
00:06:58So are wings
00:07:00Okay, so you got two choices
00:07:01You got wings, you got roots
00:07:02No, I got both here
00:07:04You got both
00:07:05KJ, who do you pick as your coach?
00:07:08Come on
00:07:09Come on
00:07:11Come on
00:07:12Come on home
00:07:19I gotta go with
00:07:20Come on
00:07:35Come on
00:07:38Come on
00:07:39Come on
00:07:40Come on
00:07:41Come on
00:07:51Come on
00:07:52Come on
00:07:53Come on
00:07:54I love KJ's voice
00:07:56He has such a cool tone
00:07:58He can do amazing runs
00:07:59Let's go
00:08:01KJ!
00:08:02I'm excited to see what we're gonna do together
00:08:05This is so cool
00:08:07Oh man, he's good
00:08:09Kelly's my friend

00:08:30Yes ma'am
00:08:31Yes ma'am
00:08:33That's the best possible choice
00:08:35I fought the good fight
00:08:37KJ was so good
00:08:38You know when they say
00:08:39Well I'm a huge John fan
00:08:40And I've turned around
00:08:41And I'm like
00:08:42You feel it in your gut a little bit
00:08:43I'm back baby
00:08:45Hey
00:08:46I knew I didn't have a chance
00:08:48But I'm just gonna fight
00:08:49I love how you kept working at it
00:08:50I was working at it
00:08:51You kept working at it
00:08:52I thought my wings thing was so good too
00:08:55I was like roots are great
00:08:56But don't you wanna fly
00:08:58I hate what mom and dad fight
00:09:03I tell you what
00:09:04I'm real excited to be here
00:09:06Just walking in
00:09:07It's all becoming real
00:09:08We're fixing to go out and sing in front of these coaches
00:09:11I look at them
00:09:12I see phenomenal musicians
00:09:14Experts at their craft
00:09:15I would love to work with Adam Levine
00:09:17But I also love to work with Kelly Clarkson
00:09:20Cause you know she's Kelly Clarkson
00:09:21I'm Houston Kelly
00:09:22We're already halfway there
00:09:25I'm a southern boy
00:09:26I live in Memphis, Tennessee
00:09:29Welcome to Memphis, Tennessee
00:09:30I've got some blues influence from being in Memphis
00:09:33And I've got some of the country influence from growing up in the South
00:09:36Morning everybody
00:09:37It is Sunday morning before church
00:09:42Something I love about living in the South is the outdoors
00:09:45I have great memories with my friends at the lake
00:09:48We love to go fish and hunt
00:09:50I suppose it's backwoods therapy
00:09:51Something about being out there and listening to music
00:09:54I think it just furthered my love for music
00:09:56And how much it impacts my life
00:10:00I started gigging out with a little band
00:10:02We'd go play shows around town
00:10:04It was a load of fun
00:10:05Then the Houston Kelly band formed
00:10:07And I've been playing with those folks ever since
00:10:10It's been a blast
00:10:12My grandfather
00:10:13I called him Pop
00:10:15Was one of the biggest fans a guy could have ever had
00:10:17The song I'm going to be able to sing for the Blinds
00:10:20Was my grandfather's favorite song that I would sing
00:10:23I found out I was going to be able to come out here
00:10:27For an opportunity at the Blinds the day we buried Pop
00:10:33He wasn't just my granddad he was a friend
00:10:35You know
00:10:36That gum it
00:10:37Y'all got me crying now
00:10:43I wish he had the opportunity to see what he supported me to be
00:10:54All right
00:10:57All right
00:10:58Touchdown
00:10:59In the land of the Delta Blues
00:11:02In the middle of the pouring rain
00:11:04Then I'm walking in Memphis
00:11:08I was walking with my feet and feet off a bill
00:11:11Walking in Memphis
00:11:15But do I really feel the way I feel
00:11:21They've got catfish on the table
00:11:25They've got gospel in the air
00:11:28And Reverend Green
00:11:30Be glad to see you
00:11:33If you haven't got a prayer
00:11:40Before you got a prayer in Memphis
00:11:46Do a little number
00:11:49And I sang with all my might
00:11:52She said
00:11:53Tell me are you a Christian child
00:11:56And I said
00:11:57Ma'am I am tonight
00:11:59Walking in Memphis
00:12:03I was walking with my feet and feet off a bill
00:12:06Walking in Memphis
00:12:09Walking in Memphis
00:12:10Do I really feel the way I feel
00:12:17Put on my blue sweieshoes
00:12:21And I boarded the plane
00:12:37I'm sweating I have never waited that long you
00:12:41I didn't
00:12:46I didn't I didn't I literally was thinking well I already have country but then I was
00:12:53I mean it sounds like this though you are so talented what is your name and
00:12:56where are you from my name is Houston Kelly I'm from Memphis Tennessee Houston
00:13:02Kelly from team Kelly welcome to team Kelly I just am still so sweaty Houston
00:13:08it's like and then your name is Kelly I just can't even get over this who did you
00:13:13grow up on I'm just curious like the artists that you love when I first
00:13:16started my dad's in the back we would ride around in his pickup truck and we
00:13:21listen to Alabama's greatest hit CD yeah and I think that's where it all
00:13:25started for me Houston is so country that I don't even know like what to do about
00:13:29it
00:13:29you know what I love most is that Shelton isn't here because if he was I know you'd pick him
00:13:35if they were here it would be already over I know but he's not but I'm very
00:13:40excited his ghost haunts us every day seriously he does he has that effect it
00:13:45lingers man I literally like she turned at the last second and blew our minds I
00:13:50was thinking about it too right when she did it and then I was like this is a
00:13:54uphill battle for me that I'm gonna lose because she gets you ever notice how she
00:13:58gets a little more country when she starts to talk to a country artist it's
00:14:01all right well I get real country and I talk to my sister because she's from
00:14:03North Carolina and that's a different dialect you know this is what I didn't
00:14:07want to deal with you know what I mean so that's that's why I didn't turn
00:14:08it depends on who I'm talking to yeah he gets more LA when he talks to a country
00:14:11artist I try to get more country but it just sounds horrible but yeah man you're
00:14:14you're clearly where you should be and I'm happy for that but you're great man
00:14:19thank you so much I really thought you gave a really strong performance your
00:14:24voice has so much power to it Kelly's gonna be a great coach I'm so excited for
00:14:28you Houston so nice to meet you yes sir thank you so much you have almost this
00:14:33like Toby Keith little growl to you a bit which I love thank you so much you're just
00:14:39such a great solid country singer and I love that you don't screw this come on
00:14:47Houston was amazing what I loved about his voice is that he has this big round
00:14:53tone and I love his name is Houston Kelly come on I have one spot left and I
00:14:58really want something special right now I have singer songwriter country it's just
00:15:03kind of all over the map but I am looking for soulful pop I would really like
00:15:08someone to fill it out in a different way last day of blind so that much more
00:15:12crucial to get good people I have three spots left just waiting to be inspired I
00:15:16want to get my team I'm a really big fan of all music but you know I'm just
00:15:21looking for something great I'm picky and at this point I just have to be patient
00:15:25and the right singers will come at the right time still to come
00:15:34the competition between our coaches is in full gear I've also won this if you
00:15:38want to take a look up there more than these boys my kids are here too by the
00:15:43way all right that sounded desperate and the artists don't disappoint
00:16:06did you just win the voice the first ever triple turn champ is
00:16:18welcome back to the voice battle of champions all right hello friends the
00:16:27battle champions has been so much fun so far we're having a blast I feel pretty
00:16:31good it's the bomb oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah we're very excited we've all
00:16:38won the show everybody here and we've worked together for years so it's a fun
00:16:41team to work with look at the big head we're all competitive but we know each
00:16:47other and so we have a nice rapport bro you're not oh I crochet like I make
00:16:52blankets yeah that's that's like an old thing oh hey I just I heard you wanted
00:16:57one of these so I just oh my god do you want me to sign it you know what I'm
00:17:02gonna
00:17:02try to beat her for that triple turn title look out for me I'm so excited my
00:17:10whole life has led up to this moment and I'm ready
00:17:12our next artist is
00:17:25I love coffee it's part of the reason why I became a barista
00:17:34customers are very interesting one of the regulars her drink is a caramel blended with
00:17:39three shots of espresso two salt packets on top two raw sugar packets on top and
00:17:44then a shot of espresso on top she doesn't even use like a long straw she
00:17:49uses a short straw if you give her a long straw she'll ask for a short straw it's
00:17:53so weird people are crazy about their coffee they're very particular I'm Ashley
00:17:58Marina I'm 18 years old and I'm from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania I've been singing
00:18:04since I can remember but songwriting is one of the most important things in my
00:18:08life I was on America's Got Talent when I was 12 I'm actually doing an original
00:18:13song it's about my dad who's always there when I need for every single gig that I do my dad
00:18:20has
00:18:20always been there for me no matter what that was so emotional so beautiful so
00:18:24connected my whole family gives me so much support I love them to death it was an
00:18:31incredible experience but then I was cut after the second round when I was on
00:18:36America's Got Talent I was really really young and now I'm 18 years old so these buildings back
00:18:42here are the music buildings I'm a commercial music major in Nashville I'm really trying to take
00:18:48advantage of everything around me and gig around and meet a lot of new people that's why I'm very
00:19:05I'm so down to do whatever it takes
00:19:35I'm a woman when I'm older than unless they're trouxed me and never feel
00:19:46I'm walking away
00:19:53I've never been the kind to ever let my feelings show
00:20:02And I thought I'd be strong and ever losing self control
00:20:10Just drunk enough to let go of my pain
00:20:14To hell with this pride
00:20:16Let it fall like rain from my eyes
00:20:28Tonight I want to cry
00:20:47Look at the time!
00:20:56Hi!
00:20:57What's your name?
00:20:59Hi, I'm Ashley Marina
00:21:00I'm 18 years old and I'm from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
00:21:03Pittsburgh
00:21:06I love those boots
00:21:07What's your background musically?
00:21:09Thank you
00:21:09I listen to a little bit of everything
00:21:11I love your covers and everything
00:21:13You can go from rock star to country
00:21:15Yeah
00:21:16No!
00:21:16Okay, okay, okay
00:21:17I can hear country and everything
00:21:19I could also hear other influences musically
00:21:22Which I think is really important
00:21:23You were pitchy after we turned around
00:21:25And I don't know if that's you got nervous
00:21:27I noticed that too
00:21:28It's like everyone around me is so like
00:21:30No, it was funny though
00:21:31It happens a lot
00:21:33But this is the stage to get used to that
00:21:36I just think you have a really killer voice
00:21:38And I would love to help you tackle those nerves, girl
00:21:40Thank you
00:21:43Hi, Ashley
00:21:44Hi
00:21:46Uh-oh
00:21:47What?
00:21:47What did I say?
00:21:48No, it was how she responded to you
00:21:49She got a little giddy
00:21:51You know, it's crazy
00:21:52Like the blind editions are kind of a grueling process
00:21:54Because we're listening to so much
00:21:55We're taking so much in
00:21:57It almost gets harder
00:21:59To really be able to identify what is truly great
00:22:02And what's really nice
00:22:04Is when you have a moment like listening to you
00:22:05You absolutely know the way you're listening to
00:22:07Is really special
00:22:08Thank you
00:22:09You tackling the nerves
00:22:10And you getting past that
00:22:11Literally is the formula to do well
00:22:14And succeed on the show
00:22:15That's what we're here for
00:22:16We're here to make you that much more comfortable
00:22:18In front of audiences every night
00:22:19And that is what will contribute to your success
00:22:20For sure
00:22:21Thank you, thank you
00:22:23Hi, Ashley
00:22:24Hi
00:22:25I'm so excited for you
00:22:27This is so cool
00:22:28We heard your tone
00:22:29We heard the way you jump between your different parts of your voice
00:22:32And it was really beautiful
00:22:34And it was really tasteful
00:22:35And it was really musical
00:22:36And the fact that you're doing all that at the age of 18 is just so impressive
00:22:40You have this beautiful gift
00:22:42And we're just here to cultivate it
00:22:44Help you develop the confidence you need
00:22:45And I would love to be your coach on this journey
00:22:48Thank you so much
00:22:49All right, Ashley
00:22:50Who do you pick as your coach?
00:23:01Come on
00:23:03Come on
00:23:04Come on
00:23:04Come on
00:23:04Come on
00:23:04Come on
00:23:05I think that I'm gonna have to go with John
00:23:07Yay!
00:23:11Ashley!
00:23:13Thank you
00:23:18I'm so excited
00:23:20Triple turn
00:23:21Triple turn
00:23:23Triple turn
00:23:23Triple turn
00:23:25Ashley's 18 years old
00:23:27So talented
00:23:27I had a feeling you were gonna pick Kelly
00:23:29I've known it was you from the beginning
00:23:30Oh, you knew
00:23:31Amazing
00:23:32It's interesting
00:23:33Because especially with the younger artists
00:23:35When we turn
00:23:36Sometimes they get a little nervous
00:23:37But Ashley got back on the plan
00:23:39And it was a lovely performance
00:23:41Hold it up in front of this camera
00:23:42Ooh
00:23:44I'm so excited to work with Ashley
00:23:46And I'm catching up
00:23:47In that triple turn competition
00:23:49Legend
00:23:50Legend
00:23:52Legend
00:23:55Woo
00:23:56So far
00:23:57There's been a lot of triple turns
00:23:59Triple turn
00:24:00Still
00:24:02John and I both have two
00:24:03And Adam's on fire right now
00:24:05I'm getting a little worried about my super steal
00:24:07You know your one triple chair turn away
00:24:10Yeah
00:24:11What happened?
00:24:12John could tie you right now
00:24:13Yeah, it's 3-2-2
00:24:14You realize there's a big advantage in the battles
00:24:16Super steal
00:24:17Super steal
00:24:18We're all right there
00:24:19Yeah, man, I'm right there, bro
00:24:21What happens if we tie?
00:24:22Do they then count
00:24:23They count the doubles
00:24:24The two chairs?
00:24:24Watch out, Adam
00:24:25I know you've got a triple turn lead right now
00:24:28But I'm coming for you
00:24:31This triple turn competition is getting down to the wire
00:24:34What's your take on it?
00:24:35I mean, things are neck and neck
00:24:36With John and Kelly now tied
00:24:38They'll have their sights set on a rebound with Adam
00:24:41This is crazy
00:24:42John and Kelly are tied
00:24:43Bro, John, he made the push
00:24:45Yeah
00:24:46He was struggling at first
00:24:46Their strategies from this point on are going to be crucial
00:24:49The OG coach either is going to lose his lead
00:24:51Or leave him in the dust
00:24:52This is going to be fun to watch
00:25:02Welcome back to the blind auditions at Universal Studios Hollywood
00:25:10We're close, we're within one, sir
00:25:13You're two, three
00:25:13One away
00:25:14It's hard, no one can dominate the triple turns
00:25:16I feel like my comeback is on the way
00:25:18Yeah
00:25:19I've known that you guys are going to be my toughest concentration of competition that I've ever faced
00:25:24There's no dead weight here
00:25:26There's no new coach
00:25:27No
00:25:27We are like head to head
00:25:28You have to fight so hard
00:25:30Yeah
00:25:30If I don't fight super hard in a three chair
00:25:33Yeah
00:25:33There's no chance
00:25:34So bottom line is the battle champions is bringing out our best
00:25:38Yeah
00:25:38Like we have to bring our A plus game or we're not going to get it
00:25:41That's right
00:25:43That's right
00:25:43Amazing
00:25:45Buenas buenas
00:25:47My name is Aziz Guerra, I'm 20 years old and I'm from El Paso, Texas
00:25:52When I was eight, I moved with my family to Texas from Mexico
00:25:58That's where I started performing a lot
00:26:01I am in a mariachi band that's called Mariachi Cuauhtli
00:26:04I'm super excited about it
00:26:08I'm currently living in Boston, I study at Berklee College of Music and I also get to perform
00:26:12Being part of a musical theater show
00:26:15I love the city
00:26:17I will be singing El Triste's song in Spanish
00:26:20Jose Jose is an artist that I've really looked up to
00:26:23His style is just unique and I would like to bring all those beautiful songs to people my age
00:26:30And it's a huge honor to be performing it, especially here on The Voice
00:26:35These coaches, the three of them, they're champions
00:26:38So a chair touring would literally mean the world to me
00:26:50You
00:26:51How sad could it be to say goodbye
00:26:57When we loved it more
00:27:03Oh

00:28:32Hola
00:28:33Hola
00:28:33That was so beautifully done, I loved it
00:28:36and then you kept being more impressive as the song went on
00:28:38and even your falsetto, that was really cool, man
00:28:41Who are some of the artists that have influenced you?
00:28:44I love Luis Miguel, I love mariachi music, I love Vicente Fernandez, Juan Gabriel

00:28:56That was absolutely a beautiful performance
00:28:59your voice is so rich and textured
00:29:01and we were hearing
00:29:03a really beautiful range
00:29:05within your voice, but also
00:29:07your ability to go between your head voice and your chest voice
00:29:09really beautifully
00:29:11it just all worked, so
00:29:13welcome to the voice
00:29:15Thank you so much
00:29:16I always, you know it's funny when someone comes out
00:29:18and they sing in another language
00:29:20I always have to take a beat
00:29:22because I'm like okay
00:29:24I want to turn because it's not in English
00:29:26like my inclination is
00:29:28I want to be a part of this no matter what
00:29:30but then I go okay, let's take a listen
00:29:32because there's other things I want to hear
00:29:34and so that's a
00:29:36almost can be a novelty if you're not careful
00:29:38but you have a lot of power
00:29:39and the way you delivered some of those lines towards the end
00:29:41I was like super happy
00:29:43Thank you so much
00:29:44Welcome to my team man
00:29:45Thank you, I really really appreciate it

00:30:30Let's go
00:30:32And the pressure is on for our coaches to round out their teams
00:30:35My anxiety levels are only mid right now
00:30:37Just a couple spots left
00:30:38so we're very much fighting for the last bit of special
00:30:41that can be added to your team to elevate it
00:30:43There's a lot of pressure on you
00:30:45Ladies and gentlemen, our next artist is entering now
00:30:49Let's go, come on
00:30:50Let's see if these next artists have what our coaches are looking for
00:30:58This is not happening
00:30:59This is not happening
00:31:00The whole world watches the voice
00:31:02For them to see me actually be on the voice
00:31:05would be crazy
00:31:15My name is Marya Kevorgian
00:31:17I am 15 years old
00:31:18Currently a sophomore in high school
00:31:20I love to sing and dance
00:31:22I've been in choir for five years now
00:31:28I've been dreaming of this since I was like four years old
00:31:31I would go on the TV
00:31:32My mom's like, are you watching?
00:31:33I don't know, Disney movies
00:31:34I'm like, no, I'm watching The Voice
00:31:35What are you talking about?
00:31:37A chair turn could completely change my future
00:31:41I want to get a chair turn
00:31:43Just one, one's fine
00:31:55I try to talk to my piano
00:32:00Try to talk to my guitar
00:32:02Talk to my imagination
00:32:06Confided into alcohol
00:32:10A hundred million stories and a hundred million songs
00:32:14I feel stupid when I sing
00:32:17Nobody's listening to me
00:32:20Nobody's listening
00:32:25Anyone?
00:32:28Please send me anyone
00:32:31Oh, is there anyone?
00:32:34I need someone
00:32:38I need someone
00:32:40A hundred million stories and a million songs
00:32:44I feel stupid when I sing
00:32:47Nobody's listening to me
00:32:54Nobody's listening
00:32:59Mmm, so good
00:33:04What's your name?
00:33:06My name's Mariette
00:33:07I'm 15 and I'm from Burbank, California
00:33:10The great thing about being 15 years old and doing this
00:33:12You're not running out of time
00:33:13You're at the very beginning of this whole thing
00:33:15You have such a big, beautiful gift
00:33:17I think today was timing
00:33:18It's just because my team was literally almost full
00:33:21I would have turned for you, so please come back
00:33:23Thank you, thank you so much
00:33:26It is so hard to see talented people go home
00:33:30But especially someone that's that young
00:33:34Everybody saw me get my one audition and then I made it
00:33:36Whatever, but they didn't see all the other doors that were closed
00:33:38Or all the other things I tried out for before
00:33:40So I hope she comes back and I hope she just picks a song that has a little bit more
00:33:44breathing room
00:33:45I'll be better on Saturn
00:33:48None of this matters
00:33:51I'm dreaming, dreaming of Saturn
00:33:55I'll be better
00:33:57Come on, Talia
00:34:00Ohhhh
00:34:05I'm dreaming of Saturn
00:34:16Hello, what's your name and where are you from?
00:34:19My name is Jason Farrell and I am from Adondo Beach, California
00:34:23Do I know you?
00:34:24I know you, you know me
00:34:25Many, many years ago
00:34:27We used to do duets together
00:34:29John was also there
00:34:30Oh my god, you are there too
00:34:31On duets
00:34:31Kelly Clarkson and I were on this show called Duets
00:34:35And every week would sing with our artists
00:34:38Oh
00:34:38Our Hallelujah was so good
00:34:41You're like a dude
00:34:43I'm grown, I'm grown
00:34:44A lot of life has happened
00:34:45Oh my god
00:34:45I love that Scissors song
00:34:47I just felt like you were having a little bit of control issues
00:34:50When it came to pitch and things of that nature
00:34:52You know I love your voice
00:34:54So I'm so sorry
00:34:55That would have been so cool
00:34:57Nice to see you Jason
00:34:58Thank you Jason
00:34:59Thank you guys
00:35:01Man, you know Jason
00:35:02I thought his tone was really cool
00:35:04It is about timing sometimes
00:35:06As much as we love Scissors
00:35:08Scissors not easy to cover
00:35:10That's the conceit of this show
00:35:12Is that we can tell just by listening without looking
00:35:15How talented they are
00:35:17How connected they are to the music
00:35:19What a great storyteller they are
00:35:21So I'm waiting to hear that
00:35:23For my blind audition
00:35:24I'm singing Teenage Dream by Katy Perry
00:35:27I'm making this song my own
00:35:28By starting it off a little slower
00:35:30I'm adding some runs
00:35:32And I have a little bit more of a raspy voice than she does
00:35:37People usually think that I'm a country artist actually
00:35:40And I am not
00:35:49You think I'm pretty without any makeup on
00:35:54You think I'm funny but not to the punchline wrong
00:35:59I know you get me
00:36:00So I let my walls come down
00:36:03Now
00:36:06That's the one
00:36:08Let's go on
00:36:09The way tonight
00:36:10The regrets
00:36:12Just love
00:36:15We can end
00:36:16Until we die
00:36:19And I
00:36:20Will be young forever
00:36:23You make me
00:36:26Feel like I'm living a teenage dream
00:36:30The way you turn me off
00:36:32I can't sleep
00:36:34Just run away and don't ever look back
00:36:38Don't ever look back
00:36:40My heart stops
00:36:42When you look at me
00:36:44Just one touch
00:36:47Now baby, I believe this is real
00:36:51So take a chance and don't ever look back
00:36:55I'ma get your heart racing
00:36:58In my skin-tied jeans
00:37:00Be your teenage dream
00:37:02Tonight
00:37:04I'll let you put your hands on me
00:37:06In my skin-tied jeans
00:37:08Be your teenage dream
00:37:11Tonight
00:37:13Tonight
00:37:19Yeah
00:37:21It's going here
00:37:28Thank you
00:37:29Thank you
00:37:29She crushed that
00:37:32Wow, wow, wow
00:37:34What's her name?
00:37:35My name is McKinley Brown
00:37:36I'm 19 years old
00:37:37And I'm from Newcastle, Indiana
00:37:39Indiana
00:37:42I didn't even recognize the song at first
00:37:46Because you had put such your own thing to it
00:37:49You're tasteful
00:37:51You have an ethereal quality to what you do
00:37:53My favorite thing about it was when we turned around
00:37:56You were just so lost in what you were doing
00:37:59Just to see you in your element, eyes closed
00:38:02Standing there stoically singing
00:38:04Is like the kind of purity that I love the most
00:38:07Thank you
00:38:08And the way that I would think about Adele doing it
00:38:09Or the way that I think about one of those heavyweight like incredible vocalists
00:38:12Just like blowing our minds
00:38:13And I think that that was just the tip of the iceberg
00:38:15Thank you
00:38:16I'm a big fan
00:38:17Big fan
00:38:18Thank you very much
00:38:19Your tone is incredible
00:38:21You have these little yodel effects in your voice
00:38:24That's the Indiana
00:38:25I get that a lot
00:38:26It is, it's the Indiana
00:38:27It was how you said dream
00:38:28Your little run you did on dream
00:38:29I was like
00:38:30Is this a country queen behind me?
00:38:32I was like
00:38:32I had no idea what I was going to turn around to
00:38:34Do you perform already?
00:38:36I do perform already a bit
00:38:37I do gigs with my dad
00:38:39My dad's my guitar player
00:38:40Oh cool
00:38:41This is where I perform some of my gigs
00:38:45Currently I perform at restaurants, bars
00:38:49Peanut butter
00:38:50Yay
00:38:51My dad, he's my guitar player
00:38:53We do gigs together all the time
00:38:56He likes to call himself dadager
00:38:57And I'm like no
00:39:01My parents believing in me is definitely the reason I'm here today
00:39:06As a little girl
00:39:07I was super out there, out of the box
00:39:09Super loud, crazy
00:39:11Just like my dad and my mom
00:39:13Once I got to middle school
00:39:17I was bullied
00:39:19And had a really hard time with people telling me
00:39:23Things that I need to change about myself
00:39:26Like my weight and my style
00:39:29And who I am as a person
00:39:31And I was always by myself
00:39:34Listening to music
00:39:35My parents really stepped in
00:39:37And helped me through it
00:39:39And let me know that they're always here for me
00:39:41No matter what and no matter who else is
00:39:43It's not about being the shooting star
00:39:46It's about being the shining star
00:39:48Getting out there
00:39:49And showing the world who you are
00:39:56Do you like writing as well?
00:39:57Yes, I love writing
00:39:58It's my favorite part of it all
00:39:59Is that like therapeutic for you?
00:40:01Oh yeah, absolutely
00:40:02For me too
00:40:02Yes
00:40:03I'm a big fan
00:40:04I have navigated a competition at your exact age
00:40:07I've also won this
00:40:08If you want to take a look up there more than these boys
00:40:15They're incredible
00:40:16But I just mean
00:40:16I know how to win a show
00:40:19I have no one on my team in your lane at all
00:40:22And I do have a team filling up
00:40:24So I haven't been pressing my button right now
00:40:26Because I'm a little worried about filling it up
00:40:27But you were just so special

00:43:05I love her voice
00:43:07McKinley was another triple turn win for me
00:43:09And I feel like I've heard triple turn tornado
00:43:12And I feel like that's fitting

00:43:22There you go
00:43:23I was 19 and I went through a competition

00:43:32My team is gone!
00:43:38Congratulations!

00:43:54It is time to announce the winner of the triple turn competition
00:43:58It could not have been closer
00:44:00Two of our coaches actually tied
00:44:03Adam and Kelly
00:44:04Congratulations you both have three triple turns
00:44:08However as a tiebreaker we factored in the number of two chair wins
00:44:12And the first ever triple turn champ is
00:44:20Veryittä
00:44:27Maric use
00:44:29It's from the team
00:44:30Kelly Clarkson
00:44:31No
00:44:31Oh my God
00:44:37Oh my God
00:44:46I'm excited to be able to steal someone I love
00:44:49because that means I'm gonna get them.
00:44:50Yeah, whatever.
00:44:51You know what, she won the little thing,
00:44:53but she didn't win the big thing, like the voice.
00:44:55I'm gonna win the big.
00:44:57Congratulations, Kelly Clarkson, everybody!
00:45:04We need a 20 minute cleanup on the confetti.
00:45:08Yo, Coach Kelly, Coach Kelly.
00:45:11I had my money on her.
00:45:12I had my money on her the whole time.
00:45:14I had my money on her.
00:45:14The whole time.
00:45:14Yes, yes, yes.
00:45:15Job made a push, but Kelly,
00:45:17this is gonna make for one hard pound around the battles.
00:45:20It sure will.
00:45:21Yeah, I'm excited.
00:45:23Y'all, my team is full.
00:45:24I have what I really crave every season, diversity.
00:45:28That's what's fun about art,
00:45:29to be able to work with people from different walks of life
00:45:31that sound different and can also educate me
00:45:34while I'm educating them as well.
00:45:35So this is like the most fun job.
00:45:37It's good to be back.
00:45:38I missed it.
00:45:39I feel like Kelly put in the least amount of work on that one
00:45:41and totally just took it.
00:45:43Kelly's team is full.
00:45:44Now it's down to me and Adam.
00:45:46We have to fill our teams, and I'm still looking for greatness.
00:45:49Let's win the voice.
00:45:51Let's go.
00:45:53You got it.
00:45:53Go get them, girl.
00:45:56I'm Grace Humphries, I'm 18, and I'm from Austin, Texas.
00:46:00If I had to describe myself, I do feel like an old soul.
00:46:03My music sound is country pop folk.
00:46:06My mom always said, you could be like the next Joni Mitchell.
00:46:11I have a joke that I'm Grandma Grace.
00:46:13I like that, Grandma Grace.
00:46:18I've been singing ever since I can remember.
00:46:21My brother Liam, we used to sing in the house all the time.
00:46:24We would dance together in the living room.
00:46:27We were 19 months apart.
00:46:29He was very protective of me, and he was my best friend.
00:46:34In March of 2015, when my brother was nine, he got diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer.
00:46:41He went through chemo, radiation.
00:46:47It was very surreal seeing that, your big brother, always be strong.
00:47:00He passed nine days before his 10th birthday.
00:47:04I will never stop marching to reach you in the middle of the heart.
00:47:14Even though it's been 10 years, those types of things stay with you forever.
00:47:19Liam and Grace's relationship was extremely tight.
00:47:23There's a video of them pretending like they're having a singing competition.
00:47:27Look at the camera like you're on TV.
00:47:29I just know that he's here right now.
00:47:32I'm sorry.
00:47:38Music was a unique way to process the loss.
00:47:42I started writing songs, and my first song I wrote was about my brother.
00:47:47Nothing is the same without you.
00:47:51I will rescue you.
00:48:00I know my brother would be proud that I was here.
00:48:04I'm excited for my parents to experience something happy.
00:48:15All right now.
00:48:35I will hang out.
00:48:40I'm excited for my parents.
00:48:41I know my parents to do the things I would love you.
00:48:44The rain and snow on everyone
00:48:48So many things I would have done
00:48:53But clouds got in my way
00:48:57I've looked at clouds from both sides now
00:49:02From up and down
00:49:05And still somehow it's cloud illusions
00:49:10I recall I really don't know clouds at all
00:49:23It's like solutions I recall
00:49:28I really don't know light at all
00:49:52Hot стороны
00:49:53Hello Hello welcome to the team of legend.
00:49:57Whats your name?
00:49:58I am Grace Humphries,
00:49:59I am 18 years old and I am from Austin Texas.
00:50:02Grace from Austin
00:50:04Can I just say, I literally visualized you looking exactly how you're looking.
00:50:10A flower child.
00:50:12I just love that vibe and that spirit.
00:50:14And I heard your voice and your tone and the way you just kind of graced the stage.
00:50:20And I'm like, I want you on my team.
00:50:23So I pushed my button pretty early.
00:50:25I feel like you got a little bit shaken once I pushed the button, which happens.
00:50:28But I'm so excited to work with you.
00:50:31You have such a beautiful voice, beautiful stage presence.
00:50:34And we're going to have a lot of fun together on Team Legend.
00:50:37Yeah.
00:50:38Grace, that was so beautiful.
00:50:39And thank you for playing that song.
00:50:41That's just one of those songs that is not performed enough because it's one of the best ever.
00:50:46I'm being super, super honest.
00:50:48Like I did hear some pitch stuff that is what held me back.
00:50:51He can help you because I think that when it was working, it was really just so beautiful.
00:50:56And I really just applaud your taste in music and your voice and all of it.
00:51:01And I'm really happy that you are.
00:51:02Thank you so much.
00:51:04Congratulations.
00:51:05I always love seeing a Texas girl make it, obviously.
00:51:08So you're on Team Legend.
00:51:10Let's go.
00:51:10Thank you so much.
00:51:12Grace has gorgeous tone, really great control.
00:51:16Welcome, Grace.
00:51:16So nice to meet you.
00:51:17I really believe Grace is going to be a great artist for me to coach.
00:51:21Wow.
00:51:21Hello.
00:51:22Hi.
00:51:23How are you?
00:51:24I'm great.
00:51:24Nice to meet you.
00:51:25What a pleasure.
00:51:26My team is shaping up beautifully.
00:51:30This is so cool.
00:51:31I really can't believe that I'm here auditioning.
00:51:36It's really a dream come true.
00:51:39Even though I've been doing music for a long time, this is just different than anything I've ever done.
00:51:46I've worked part-time at a sauna studio.
00:51:50I love folding the towels.
00:51:52I love being able to use the sauna.
00:51:54But I do hope to work full-time in music soon.
00:52:00You can't let a kiss a lie.
00:52:04Kiss a lie.
00:52:09You can't let a kiss a lie.
00:52:12Oh.
00:52:14Kiss a lie.
00:52:19You gave me the kiss of life.
00:52:23Your tone is so beautiful.
00:52:26You approached the song with a lot of style.
00:52:29And I really enjoyed your performance.
00:52:31And I get you all to myself.
00:52:33So welcome to Team Legend.
00:52:36Thank you so much.
00:52:37All right.
00:52:38I feel like the other coaches are going to regret not turning for Natasha.
00:52:42And we'll take advantage of her not-so-secret weapon, which is that beautiful, smooth, buttery tone.
00:52:46And we'll just live in that.
00:52:48We got a jersey for you.
00:52:49Woo!
00:52:51Let's go!
00:52:51Team Legend.
00:52:52Welcome.
00:52:52I am feeling so excited right now.
00:52:56I wanted to be on Team Legend all along.
00:52:59Can I borrow it?
00:53:00I don't know.
00:53:01I'm up for a battle in the Battle of Champions.
00:53:04And I'm ready.
00:53:05Team Legend!
00:53:07Yay!
00:53:08Woo-hoo!
00:53:09I love your cheering section over there.
00:53:11They're like, legend, legend.
00:53:12I have one final spot on my team.
00:53:15I'm looking for a powerhouse.
00:53:16Especially a female powerhouse because I want somebody who can soulfully sing it down.
00:53:22I swear to God, I had that same outfit in 1999.
00:53:24It's all back again.
00:53:25Everything's back.
00:53:25Everything comes back.
00:53:26The jeans, the player jeans.
00:53:27It's crazy.
00:53:28I have two more spots.
00:53:30No, it's just me and John duking it out.
00:53:33I cannot believe we're here right now.
00:53:35There are a few stages bigger than this.
00:53:37And I've been around some big musical acts because my dad is a member of Take Six,
00:53:43which is a ten-time Grammy award-winning a cappella group.
00:53:47As a kid, you know, I was backstage of Stevie Wonder.
00:53:50There was Britney Spears at the soundstage.
00:53:51That was the bar from the beginning of time for me.
00:53:55So to turn a chair would make my dad extremely proud.
00:53:58And I'm ready to take the next step.
00:54:01Coming up...
00:54:02I said...
00:54:03With teams starting to fill up...
00:54:07The artists bring their A-game.
00:54:18Is the voice over?
00:54:20I don't understand what just happened.
00:54:23Kelly's hurting right now.
00:54:24You literally broke her.
00:54:25Oh, my God.
00:54:35Welcome back to The Voice.
00:54:41How are you feeling?
00:54:43Feeling good.
00:54:44I can't believe this is real right now.
00:54:46This morning, I was getting ready, but thank God Wardrobe had my stuff,
00:54:49because I forget everything.
00:54:50Mom brain.
00:54:51My name is Drew Russell.
00:54:53I'm 32 years old, and I'm a full-time mom.
00:54:56My son Guy, not to brag, is the cutest child ever born.
00:55:00He's a very strong-willed comedian.
00:55:05What are you trying to do?
00:55:06We call him sir.
00:55:07He's the client in our household.
00:55:08So, I mean, he's hilarious.
00:55:10It's been truly the greatest joy of my life is spending time with him.
00:55:14Becoming a parent has changed everything.
00:55:16It kind of rocks you back into your purpose.
00:55:18Drew is an incredible mother.
00:55:20She's the glue that holds the whole family together.
00:55:24Wow.
00:55:26It's real.
00:55:27Here they are.
00:55:27Music has always been part of my life.
00:55:30When I went to college, I did a couple gigs here and there,
00:55:32but kind of put things on pause for a little while.
00:55:35Went the corporate route.
00:55:36It was my way of, like, ensuring my safety net.
00:55:40Build the step and then jump off.
00:55:42The question is, are you ready to take your place on the wall?
00:55:45I think I'm ready.
00:55:47To be able to perform on The Voice, you know, on national television,
00:55:50is really major for me.
00:55:52I don't want to look 10, 20 years down the road
00:55:55and my child see me come home from work just burnt out
00:55:58and unhappy in what I'm doing.
00:56:00You know, I want to be an example to him.
00:56:03The stakes are even higher on a personal level
00:56:04due to having a parent that was a busy working musician.
00:56:08As a member of Take Six, this is putting me into a space
00:56:11where I can really put myself out there in a serious way
00:56:14and see how far I can take this.
00:56:16I'm really excited for the challenge.
00:56:22I feel so bad.
00:56:24I've got a worried mind.
00:56:28I'm so lonesome all the time.
00:56:33Since I left my baby behind,
00:56:37I'm now running all the time.
00:56:41I'm high.
00:56:42I'm full of drugs all day
00:56:45To blue bayou
00:56:50Where the folks are mine
00:56:55And the world is mine
00:56:57All blue by you
00:57:01Where those fishing boats
00:57:05With their sails of fire
00:57:08If I could only see
00:57:11That familiar sunrise
00:57:15Through sleepy eyes
00:57:18How happy I feel
00:57:20Ooh, the firelight
00:57:25By my side
00:57:27The silver moon
00:57:30And the evening tide
00:57:33Where I'll never be blue
00:57:35My dreams come true
00:57:40On blue by you
00:57:46Oh, the firelight
00:57:53Oh, the firelight
00:58:00Hi, hi, hi
00:58:02What is your name?
00:58:03My name is Drew Russell
00:58:04I'm 32 years old
00:58:06And I'm from Los Angeles
00:58:07I'm so happy Drew
00:58:08That I found my way to you
00:58:10And I don't have to deal with them
00:58:11And like, honestly
00:58:13because I really think that you're special.
00:58:15You struggled with it a little bit, right?
00:58:17In the beginning?
00:58:18For sure, yeah.
00:58:18I'm like always trying to find it.
00:58:19Yeah, I heard you trying to find it.
00:58:21I don't care about that.
00:58:22Like to me, that happens to everybody.
00:58:25But the good news is that you really salvaged
00:58:27the performance and I think that what's awesome
00:58:29and I'm so happy that I turned around is like,
00:58:31this will get a lot better for you
00:58:32and I think you're a lot better
00:58:33than your blind audition suggested.
00:58:35And you picked like one of the biggest songs
00:58:38like with the biggest range ever.
00:58:39That's a huge song.
00:58:40Yeah, that's a super ambitious song.
00:58:42That's a really ambitious song.
00:58:45I think you're gonna fare well in the competition
00:58:46because of that.
00:58:47To have that kind of fearlessness to go,
00:58:49man, I'm gonna go baby, I'm gonna go home.
00:58:50You know what I'm saying?
00:58:51And also, your outfit is so cute.
00:58:56I turned around and I was like, how do I get one?
00:59:00Adam's right.
00:59:01You really turned it around and your voice is so beautiful.
00:59:06And it has such clarity and it really feels good
00:59:10and sounds good.
00:59:11Your taste in music works really well for this season
00:59:13because we don't really have other artists
00:59:16that are in that lane.
00:59:17It's only gonna get so much better from here with you.
00:59:19So, welcome to my team.
00:59:23Welcome to the show.
00:59:25Welcome to the show.
00:59:27I think Drew might really surprise everybody
00:59:28in this competition.
00:59:29I have nobody like Drew on my team.
00:59:30She's an awesome singer.
00:59:32My team is almost full.
00:59:33Now I just wanna be inspired and moved in the moment.
00:59:36That's all I care about.
00:59:37Team Adam!
00:59:38Oh!
00:59:39Is that mine?
00:59:40No, this is mine.
00:59:41I'm keeping it.
00:59:45One more spot.
00:59:47One more.
00:59:48One more spot.
00:59:49I have one more spot.
00:59:51The pressure's on.
00:59:52I want somebody that, when I hear that voice, I'm like,
00:59:55there's no way I can't turn.
00:59:57One more spot.
00:59:59We're gonna celebrate, yeah.
01:00:01The clock is ticking down on the blind auditions.
01:00:04Now, there's just one last matter of business.
01:00:06Who will John and Adam find to finalize their rosters?
01:00:10I mean, who would you pick as a coach?
01:00:11That's a good question.
01:00:12I mean, Adam had the lead.
01:00:13John kinda chose some fighting, fought back in.
01:00:16I'm definitely looking forward to it.
01:00:18You know, we're so proud of you.
01:00:20And everybody in New Jersey's gonna be watching.
01:00:21Jersey!
01:00:22Jersey!
01:00:23Jersey!
01:00:23Jersey!
01:00:24My name is Syd Millivoy.
01:00:26I am 23 years old.
01:00:27And I am from Secaucus, New Jersey.
01:00:29Okay, quiet on set.
01:00:30Quiet on set.
01:00:31Everybody quiet.
01:00:32That's right.
01:00:33That's who I am.
01:00:34My house is, like, organized chaos.
01:00:39Big Italian family.
01:00:40Four bedroom kind of house, but we made it work for seven people.
01:00:44I call it, you know, like a clown car.
01:00:46Like the clown house.
01:00:47This is my room.
01:00:49I'm in the garage.
01:00:50As you can see.
01:00:52There's always noise happening.
01:00:55Salute!
01:00:55The TV is blaring.
01:00:57Who's yelling from the kitchen?
01:00:59And usually when it's quiet, you get a little nervous.
01:01:03Like, why is it quiet?
01:01:05When I was about 10, my parents split.
01:01:07And then me, my mom, and my brothers had to move in with my grandparents and my uncle.
01:01:14And we never left.
01:01:17So...
01:01:18My mom is an opera singer.
01:01:21Very, very talented.
01:01:22When you first opened your mouth, I knew it.
01:01:24I said, this girl's gonna go somewhere with that voice.
01:01:27Well, look where I got it from.
01:01:28Well...
01:01:29Right now, I sing in a wedding band and it's so crazy to be on season 29 of The Voice.
01:01:35I've been watching the show forever and to be here, it makes me really emotional just because...
01:01:41When I was little, I never thought that it could be attainable.
01:01:44I would watch everybody on this show and I would want to be them.
01:01:48I didn't know that one day I would be them.
01:01:51I thought I would forever just live in my dreams.
01:01:54But dreams do come true.
01:01:56To be here living it and singing Mama Knows Best by Jessie J.
01:02:01Especially having my mom here.
01:02:03Yeah, it means the world.
01:02:06So...
01:02:06I am so nervous.
01:02:08Teams are filling up quick!
01:02:11I'm trying not to think about it.
01:02:13If I get a chair turn from one of them, it would just be the greatest thing in the world.
01:02:26Grounded and deadly.
01:02:26Two to one.
01:02:29Three to three.
01:02:30I Tanks my doing sound.
01:02:33Would you like me to say yargos!?
01:02:41Yeah.
01:02:42Well there is something going down!
01:02:47Like the storm in the sky!
01:02:50Oh hey, hello you gonna be przez your behavior!
01:02:56Come on, weArt.
01:02:56I cannot trust someone who's lying to me
01:03:00So I'm gone
01:03:02Now I step back and live
01:03:04I said, take your stuff in love
01:03:07Cause you're not my ego
01:03:09I'm in a bus when
01:03:12I'm in a bus
01:03:13And Papa always has a choice
01:03:17So make me laugh
01:03:19See, Mama knows best when
01:03:21I feel down
01:03:23So break me up then
01:03:25Always keep my feet on the ground
01:03:29Yeah
01:03:31Just be the best of my
01:03:33That I desire to be
01:03:35Always use you as your therapy
01:03:40Don't ever take love so seriously
01:03:44Just do you
01:03:45Cause you do you so
01:03:47Perfectly
01:03:49Oh, yeah
01:03:55Oh, yeah
01:03:57Oh, yeah
01:03:59Say, Mama, Mama knows best
01:04:02See, Daddy, Daddy knows best
01:04:04Say, Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama, oh, yeah
01:04:33I'm so wide awake right now.
01:04:36I'm so wide awake.
01:04:37Did you just win the voice?
01:04:39No, no.
01:04:40Is the voice over?
01:04:43My team is full.
01:04:46And like, I don't understand what just happened.
01:04:50How old are you?
01:04:51I'm 23 years old.
01:04:52I'm so angry.
01:04:54What is your name?
01:04:56My name is Syd Miliboy, and I'm from Secaucus, New Jersey.
01:05:00Secaucus.
01:05:01I need a glass of wine brought out right now.
01:05:05Me too?
01:05:06I'm like the opposite of angry, super stoked.
01:05:08Yeah.
01:05:10That's like the quintessential meaning of this show is what you just did.
01:05:14And I cannot do that.
01:05:17So I can appreciate when someone can.
01:05:19Your vocal pierced through this audience and shook us all to our core.
01:05:23There's that sense of soul and urgency and passion.
01:05:26Your type of performing is a lost art form that I feel like needs to be thrust back into
01:05:31the spotlight.
01:05:32I am a fan, I am blown away by what you do, and I got to coach you.
01:05:37Thank you so much.
01:05:38I'm in awe right now, and I literally have one spot left on my team, and I'm like, you
01:05:44were sent from heaven, Syd, to fill that final spot, and you can win this competition.
01:05:56Kelly's hurting right now.
01:05:57You literally broke her.
01:05:59She is broken.
01:06:00Look, you might not even like me, but I just would have wanted a chance.
01:06:03You know what I'm saying?
01:06:03I love you.
01:06:04Are you kidding?
01:06:05Oh, yeah.
01:06:05I think you would have had a major chance.
01:06:07Part of what I like to do is find out about you.
01:06:10What have you been up to musically, and like, what do you see for your career?
01:06:15I'm a songwriter.
01:06:16I write all my own stuff, but by night, I'm a wedding singer.
01:06:21I sing at everybody's weddings.
01:06:22So you cover the gamuts.
01:06:24Yeah.
01:06:25You may want to do a song that's more in the singer-songwriter vein, since you're a singer-songwriter,
01:06:31to present yourself to the world and say, this is the kind of artist I am.
01:06:34Yeah.
01:06:35You mentioned like, where you sing.
01:06:37What's your vibe?
01:06:38So I'm just curious, like, where you pull from?
01:06:40As a kid, my mom, she always had Mariah Carey on in the house.
01:06:44She always had Whitney Houston on in the house.
01:06:45Oh, my God.
01:06:46Alicia Keys.
01:06:47Sure.
01:06:48So that's just why I listen to you.
01:06:49I love Ariana Grande.
01:06:52She's like, check out my ponytail.
01:06:54I love her down.
01:06:56I heard some of her in you also.
01:06:58Oh, my God.
01:06:58We clearly are very, very, very, very into the idea of coaching you.
01:07:04Oh, obsessed.
01:07:05Obsessed with the idea.
01:07:06Let's let Kelly ask the question.
01:07:08Syd, who do you pick as your coach?
01:07:12Ah, come on.
01:07:14Come on.
01:07:16Come on.
01:07:18Come on.
01:07:19Come on, Syd.
01:07:20Come on.
01:07:21Come on.
01:07:23Come on.
01:07:24Come on.
01:07:25I'm going to have to go with Team John.
01:07:27She said that you must meet you.
01:07:30Yeah, baby.
01:07:31Yes!
01:07:32I knew it.
01:07:34Ah!
01:07:35I'm so happy.
01:07:36Oh, my God.
01:07:37You really are that good.
01:07:39Like, we don't say that to everybody.
01:07:40Like, you are that good.
01:07:42That's it.
01:07:43It's Team 4.
01:07:43Kelly is truly broken up that she can't pick you.
01:07:47Wow.
01:07:48How is Syd not available for Kelly?
01:07:52Kelly's in so much pain right now.
01:07:55But Kelly's loss is our gain.
01:07:57You are great in pain.
01:07:59She came out here and just knocked our socks off.
01:08:02It was incredible.
01:08:03This is my mom.
01:08:04I never cared so much.
01:08:06I feel like the voice owed me this karmic favor.
01:08:10Syd is completing Team Legend.
01:08:12Woo!
01:08:13Thank you, Syd.
01:08:14I can't wait.
01:08:14I picked John because the things that he was saying
01:08:17just really stuck with me.
01:08:18He was talking about my songwriting
01:08:20and how I could present as an artist,
01:08:23and I think that's really cool.
01:08:24Woo!
01:08:26Congratulations!
01:08:28My team is full!
01:08:34I got a song I want to sing.
01:08:38We got to bring it back.
01:08:40Yeah.
01:08:43Oh, I had to fight for you.
01:08:47I put it all on the line for you.
01:08:50Welcome to Team Legend.
01:08:53Welcome to Team Legend.
01:08:56We've got quite a range on Team Legend this season.
01:08:59I've got two country artists.
01:09:01I've got R&B artists.
01:09:03I've got soulful pop.
01:09:05We've got such a nice diversity of interests
01:09:08among Team Legend,
01:09:09and I am ready to take the battle of champions.
01:09:13Welcome to Team Legend.
01:09:17Champion.
01:09:18Oh, my God.
01:09:19Strong Legend.
01:09:20Oh, my God.
01:09:22Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:09:29My team is full!
01:09:32Jon filled his team, and now it's just me.
01:09:34Blue old me.
01:09:35Tell me she was always going to pick Jon
01:09:36and I had no chance.
01:09:38Just tell me that.
01:09:39You know, the Lord works in mysterious ways.
01:09:42I don't know what you guys are upset about.
01:09:44Shut your face.
01:09:46He's like, what's the big deal?
01:09:56Welcome back to The Voice Battle of Champions.
01:10:01Oh, my God.
01:10:03I may have just got the winner of The Voice.
01:10:05Sid was incredible.
01:10:06She's literally the best singer we've heard.
01:10:09I would be furious if I were you.
01:10:11Kelly is upset, y'all.
01:10:12She may need to be talked off the ledge,
01:10:14but I fought to the finish.
01:10:16Sid, oh, you saved my season.
01:10:19The Voice is over.
01:10:19Yeah.
01:10:20He just won.
01:10:21And I don't feel bad anymore
01:10:23about the Super Steel.
01:10:28My buddy gave me the nickname
01:10:29Disco Dan in third grade.
01:10:32I've always been able to move pretty well,
01:10:34and my first ever CD I owned was
01:10:36Earth, Wind & Fire,
01:10:37so I'm assuming there's some kind of connection there.
01:10:40My name's Daniel Sovich.
01:10:41I grew up in Aurora, Ohio.
01:10:42Now I'm down in Nashville, Tennessee.
01:10:45I started out with my schooling at NYU.
01:10:47Freshman year was a musical theater major,
01:10:49and I was really fortunate.
01:10:51I got set up with some awesome auditions.
01:10:54By the end of college,
01:10:55I had booked my first professional pro gig.
01:10:57The musical Almost Famous as the lead.
01:11:00That was my dream as a kid,
01:11:01to be in a Broadway musical.
01:11:03It really started feeling like we're launching into this.
01:11:06Things are going to start moving from here,
01:11:07and then we were all set to open in spring of 2020,
01:11:11and then that's when COVID hit.
01:11:13Everything shut down,
01:11:14and suddenly I cannot live in this city.
01:11:18So I went back to Nashville,
01:11:19and I've been there for almost five years now.
01:11:21I'm not going to sit here and say,
01:11:22like, I've never gone into one of those spirals
01:11:24being like, why am I doing this?
01:11:26Why am I still here doing this?
01:11:27But then one of those times you pick yourself back up,
01:11:31the right person walks into the bar you're singing at,
01:11:33and is like,
01:11:34dude, you should come audition for The Voice.
01:11:36Oh, my gosh.
01:11:39Very surreal.
01:11:40Oh, my God.
01:11:41I can't believe we're here.
01:11:44These three coaches are champions.
01:11:47It would be amazing to work with any of them.
01:11:48I will be pumped if one chair spins around.
01:11:51I will be over the moon.
01:11:52The teams are filling up,
01:11:54so the stakes are high,
01:11:56but I have been paying my dues,
01:11:57and I hope this is my chance to say I did it.
01:12:08Don't go changing
01:12:11to try and please me
01:12:13I love this song so much.
01:12:15You never let me down before
01:12:21I took the good times
01:12:25I'll take the bad times
01:12:28I'll take you just the way you are
01:12:35I need to know that you will always be
01:12:41The same old someone that I knew
01:12:47Oh, what will it take till you believe in me
01:12:54The way that I believe in you
01:13:01I said I love you
01:13:05And that's forever
01:13:08This I promise from the heart
01:13:13Oh, oh, oh, oh
01:13:15I couldn't love you any better
01:13:21I love you just the way you are
01:13:39Yeah
01:13:41Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
01:13:43Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
01:13:49Oh
01:13:52What's your name?
01:13:54I'm Daniel Sovich.
01:13:55I'm 28 from Nashville.
01:13:56Oh, man!
01:13:58Daniel, I know this is not what you wanted.
01:14:00This sucks when this happens.
01:14:02It felt more Broadway than, like, animal.
01:14:04It felt like anything else, for me.
01:14:05But you have a great voice.
01:14:07I don't know about y'all, but it felt a little more that for me.
01:14:09It did feel theatrical at times and I don't think that's a bad thing
01:14:12But the vocal has a certain understatedness to it that when you lose that sometimes it can make it a
01:14:17different thing
01:14:17And so I kind of got me outside of it, but I wanted to turn a bunch of times your
01:14:21range is awesome
01:14:22Appreciate that. Yeah. Yeah, one of the things Michael would always say he talks about not overusing the vibrato
01:14:27even when you're doing those songs that kind of
01:14:30Make you think that you should do vibrato your performance was flawless when it came to pitch you have a
01:14:37powerful instrument
01:14:38So it's just about making the right artistic choices to be more effective as a performer
01:14:43And so I think that's something you could correct and come back and sing another song. Yes, sir. Appreciate you
01:14:47brother
01:14:47Thank you. Come back and do it again for sure. Please come back. I just love that song so much
01:14:54My team is almost full the point of the competition is to reward the people that have these special gifts
01:14:59and just waiting for my
01:15:01Special person to round out team app. It doesn't feel heartfelt to be more conversational. Exactly. That's how you pull
01:15:06it off. Yeah
01:15:07You're gonna go with Adam. I like Adam. He could do a new tattoo
01:15:13Since we're a Navy family bankers would be
01:15:17Some that's pretty you know what I'm saying. I'm Jared Shoemaker. I'm 32 years old and I'm from Richmond, Kentucky
01:15:23in 2012
01:15:24I decided to join the Navy. I was on the USS George H.W. Bush
01:15:28Our main goal was to carry all kinds of helicopters and cargo planes and of course fighter jets
01:15:36And when you get to the ship the least ranking person usually has the toilet duty
01:15:41I had to make sure throughout the day that toilets were clean
01:15:44Which was crazy
01:15:46Then I finally got an opportunity to work on all kinds of machinery. We'd rebuild pumps spoilers air compressors
01:15:53It definitely was a very tough job. We worked a lot of hours when you're working that much. It'll suck
01:15:58the soul out of you
01:16:00And I read on a magazine sing and release endorphins in your brain and it makes you happy
01:16:05I had a whole room to myself at the belly of the boat and I just started singing
01:16:10I could sing as loud as I want everybody would bring their guitars down there and we'd have big jam
01:16:14sessions
01:16:14It literally brought my spirits up. I went nine months singing every day and I realized that I think I
01:16:20had a voice
01:16:21When he got out of the military
01:16:24We would go to some of his little gigs and we're like oh my gosh our boy can sing
01:16:33When I got out of the Navy I just started gigging my band's called Marshall
01:16:37We've been gigging for 10 20 people and then we've moved on to playing
01:16:42Massive clubs we got to open up for diamond Rio one of my favorite 90s country bands
01:16:51So we're playing music full-time now traveling the country one of our favorite venues is a horse festival
01:16:57We ride horses all day and then we play music
01:17:00I kind of worked away my younger years doing nothing but demanding jobs
01:17:04So it's kind of fun to be around the things I missed out on while I was in the Navy
01:17:10It's the final night of the blind auditions teams are filling up
01:17:13There's never been a season with fewer spots available
01:17:16Gets you a little nervous, but I've been in plenty of different situations where the stress is high, so I'm
01:17:22ready to get on that stage
01:17:32Welcome back to the voice battle of champions
01:17:36The last one oh my god y'all we're done almost and how that's crazy
01:17:49Well, it's been some time
01:17:52Oh, oh you still look like an angel
01:17:58I heard you're doing fine
01:18:02Got promoted back in April
01:18:07Nice
01:18:07Nice
01:18:08And you met someone
01:18:10Your dad says he's okay
01:18:14Hey, hey
01:18:16Hey, hey
01:18:17Well, I've never been better
01:18:19Things are going my way
01:18:23Hey, hey
01:18:24Hey, hey
01:18:25I sleep like a baby
01:18:29I never show a play for her
01:18:33I don't drink whiskey
01:18:38I don't drink whiskey
01:18:39I don't know how it feels to her
01:18:42I don't know how it feels to her
01:18:43Oh, and I ain't been lonely
01:18:47Since you said goodbye
01:18:51Wish I could say I miss you
01:18:55Oh, but you know I never lie
01:18:58I wish I could say I miss you
01:19:05But you know I never lie
01:19:08I wish I could say I miss you
01:19:13Oh, but you know I never lie
01:19:27Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:19:28All the teams are full.
01:19:31That's it.
01:19:32Hello, sir.
01:19:33What's your name?
01:19:34My name is Jared Shoemaker.
01:19:35I'm 32, from Richmond, Kentucky.
01:19:37I'm so happy right now, because their teams are full.
01:19:40They couldn't turn.
01:19:41They couldn't turn.
01:19:42That is perfectly fine.
01:19:43Yeah.
01:19:44The subtle simplicity of your voice is so refreshing,
01:19:48and the emotion in the little breaks of your voice
01:19:50that I love so much.
01:19:51I mean, you just have one of those great voices.
01:19:53And man, I just don't have anybody like you on my team.
01:19:56It's gonna be really fun.
01:19:57I'm gonna do you right.
01:19:58That's a really good song.
01:19:59I'm a fan.
01:20:00It was really, really good.
01:20:01I love the song selection.
01:20:03I gotta ask you, though, who'd you grow up listening to?
01:20:06You been playing a lot?
01:20:07I mean, yeah, I gig about three days a week.
01:20:09I've been playing for like five years.
01:20:11I play anything from, you know, Frank Sinatra to Ozzy.
01:20:16Yeah.
01:20:16Yeah.
01:20:17Oh, yeah.
01:20:17Ozzy.
01:20:18I play everything.
01:20:19You're gonna do so well, man.
01:20:21I love the vibe.
01:20:22Congratulations.
01:20:23It's fun because this season we all have country artists on our teams,
01:20:28so I think it's gonna be fun to kind of break up that country monopoly
01:20:31that our country coaches would often have on the show.
01:20:36Some people can hit the notes, but they don't have like a style,
01:20:39and I really felt like you had that,
01:20:42and I would have totally pushed if I had a spot on my team
01:20:45because I just felt like you really can sing, man.
01:20:48Adam's very lucky that he got you all to himself.
01:20:51And listen, imagine, like, I'm like Blake Shelton, but better.
01:20:54Yeah!
01:20:56The bar was low, Jared.
01:20:59Hey, man, welcome to my team.
01:21:03That worked out well.
01:21:04You're badass, dude.
01:21:05That's awesome.
01:21:06Yes, sir.
01:21:07Welcome.
01:21:07I'm in the country chair.
01:21:08Jared is badass, man.
01:21:10I love Jared's voice.
01:21:11I love his emotion.
01:21:13I love his soul.
01:21:14Thank you so much, man.
01:21:15Oh, you're super awesome, man.
01:21:16I'm super excited to work with you.
01:21:17Thanks, man.
01:21:17I love how his music just feels really real and honest,
01:21:20and the way he sings is raw and sincere.
01:21:23Not enough of that these days.
01:21:25Blown away.
01:21:25Perfect guy to fill, Team Adam.
01:21:27I'm so happy Blake's not here.
01:21:28It's just so great.
01:21:33My team is full, and I cannot wait for the battle rounds.
01:21:36We always pride ourselves on having amazing talent,
01:21:38and Team Adam is strong.
