00:00Cornell University President Michael Kotlikoff blasted a group of radical students for holding
00:04him hostage in his own car following an Israel-Palestine debate series at the Ivy League
00:09school. The students filmed themselves swarming the president, shouting and trailing him to his
00:14vehicle as he was trying to leave the event. Kotlikoff accused the group, who he says has
00:19become notorious for their verbal and online abuse toward Cornell staffers, of surrounding his car,
00:24banging on the windows, and blocking him from leaving. Some of the students, meanwhile, are
00:28accusing the university president of backing into them with his car in the parking lot amid the
00:32chaos. One agitator even claims Kotlikoff ran over his foot during the commotion. In a statement,
00:38Cornell's president disagreed, saying in part, quote, I waited until I saw space behind the car and then
00:43using my car's rear pedestrian alert and automatic braking system, was able to slowly maneuver my
00:48car from the parking space and exit the parking lot. Now, the debate series that sparked this
00:52whole ordeal was hosted by the Cornell Political Union and co-sponsored by Cornell Progressives,
00:58Cornelians for Israel, as well as Students for Justice in Palestine. Kotlikoff says it's a prime
01:03example of the, quote, open discourse that we prize in our academic community. Now, I'll link to the
01:08Post's article in the show notes so you can see the whole incident for yourself.
