A team of police officers and staff from the North East will attempt the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for 4Louis. The group is also aiming to highlight the Fatal Four causes of serious road collisions.

00:02Police officers and staff from Derham Constabulary are preparing for a major endurance challenge,
00:08one that will test stamina and teamwork while raising money for charity
00:11and highlighting the dangers behind fatal road incidents across the United Kingdom.
00:16This comes according to organisers involved locally.
00:20The team will take on the National Three Peaks Challenge,
00:23climbing Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon,
00:26covering around 23 miles and 3,000 metres of ascent.
00:31The aim is to complete the route within 24 hours across challenging terrain conditions.
00:37Money raised will go to the Baby Loss Charity for Lewis.
00:41The charity supports families affected by miscarriage, stillbirth and the death of babies or children,
00:47providing memory boxes, bereavement training and practical help
00:52during the most difficult times for families across the north-east region.
00:57Organisers also want to raise awareness of the fatal four,
01:00the main causes of serious road collisions.
01:03Speeding, drink or drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt and mobile phone use,
01:09which continue to contribute to deaths on UK roads nationally every day.
01:13The Durham team say many officers involved in roads policing see first-hand the impacts of these incidents
01:20and hope the challenge will both honour victims and encourage safer driving behaviour across road user communities.
