00:00These are the scenes Coventry City supporters waited a generation to see.
00:05The Sky Blues are heading back to the Premier League as Championship Champions.
00:10For manager Frank Lampard and his players, promotion is not just being framed as the
00:15end of the story, but the start of another test.
00:19I've loved working in a Championship, it's so many different styles and so challenging
00:23of the games, game midweek, game midweek.
00:27I felt we achieved well at Derby, we were not far from the Premier League and it's a fantastic
00:33Villa team that had Grealish and Mings and Abraham and players that went on to the Premier League.
00:38We were a bit different, disappointment but when I reflect on it I can say I'm happy.
00:42Last year I thought the boys did brilliantly, we were so unfortunate in the semi-final but
00:46that's football.
00:47This year is clearly the most pleasurable one because of how it's looked from the start
00:51to the end.
00:51Do you learn a bit about a Championship if you go?
00:53Do you learn to keep a call ahead in those difficult little periods where you're going
00:56away from home to QPR and the pitch is useless and you lose a game when we play poorly?
01:01You do learn to not get too down, what's the next game, how can we recover this?
01:06So hopefully I've been a better manager in terms of being balanced for the boys to see
01:10that and then the rest is down to them.
01:12The celebrations in Coventry reflected more than a successful season.
01:17Thousands of supporters turned out for the open top bus parade on Bank Holiday Monday, marking
01:23a return to the Premier League after 25 years away from the top flight.
01:28For many fans the moment carries extra meaning because of what the club has endured.
01:33Recent years brought financial uncertainty, ground disputes and spells when Coventry had to
01:39play its home games away from the city.
01:41The club has suffered for 25 years in terms of since we've been in the Premier League and
01:46that journey going down to League Two and different football clubs, stadiums, credit to everyone
01:52involved in those tough years. Mark Robbins of course, I think he has to have a shout out.
01:57But it's a massive, massive achievement from everyone involved and it's really special.
02:04I'm lost for words. I wanted to do it away from home a little bit. I wanted promotion away.
02:08I know what it's like to do it this way. It's the fans that come all the time away from
02:12home.
02:12They're really dedicated fans and they're having the night of their lives. That's what we do this job for.
02:16When you're a team that's been out of it for so long, it means so much more because of the
02:20difficulties the club's been through. So of course we can have those moments.
02:25My main aim now is to try and win this league because if we start thinking about next year
02:31and Premier League and all those things, then we take an hour off the ball. But now we know we're
02:35there so that we can start to prepare for that. But my main aim now is to try and go
02:39and win it.
02:40From those years of instability to a championship title and a Premier League return, Coventry City's
02:47comeback has been hard earned. The celebrations have shown what it means to the city. Now the focus
02:53turns to how the Sky Blues prepare for the demands of top-flight football a game.
