00:00:19There's a re-unit for a missing person.
00:00:30A white male, something or other, had long hair and a beard.
00:00:34He wasn't alone.
00:00:37License number, Savings Association.
00:00:40Class D, David.
00:00:44I'm not here. What was going on there?
00:00:47No, I just made you.
00:00:55735 John, any other goods?
00:00:571050 to channel 1 at 2308.
00:01:03Okay, he's got no record found on his face at negative,
00:01:07and I'm not getting any of the DMs on him.
00:01:08No record found.
00:01:11On March 4th, 1996, a missing persons report was filed with the Jackson County Police Department by Miss Judy Dixon.
00:01:19Miss Dixon reported that her son, a Mr. Baron Dixon, had left a panic-stricken message on her answering machine,
00:01:27stating that Mr. Dixon would be leaving and never coming back.
00:01:31His vehicle and his belongings were found by the County Sheriff's Department.
00:01:42Mr. Dixon had arranged to meet with two friends at a designated campsite that the trio was familiar with.
00:01:50Mr. Dixon's vehicle was discovered about five miles south of that campsite.
00:01:56The two friends Mr. Dixon had arranged to meet were a Mr. Randy Kenneth Sloan and a Mr. Edward T.
00:02:05Tackett.
00:02:16Mr. Dixon, right here is where it happened.
00:02:18Mr. Dixon, we had the fire going here and then it was that ridge right there that this shape, or
00:02:24like a light bubble thing, floated right on down this way.
00:02:32it's crazy
00:02:37mr. Sloan and mr. Tackett had admitted to using hallucinogenics on the night in question
00:02:43it was the biggest spaceship i'd ever seen
00:02:49mr. Sloan and mr. Tackett had outstanding warrants for their arrest
00:02:54i had an unpaid speeding ticket and i just had some problems with neighbors about some noises
00:03:02coming from my garages that's all
00:03:08mr. Sloan and mr. Tackett were questioned and later booked in the county jail for their outstanding
00:03:13warrants well you know it sounds insane i'd i'd call me insane too if i was me but it was
00:03:22like a
00:03:22light or like a vessel and it just floated real graceful like down there no jerking at
00:03:30all no and it was no light there weren't no lights and like it was about this big
00:03:41investigating officers described the witnesses as excitable and incoherent
00:03:48and when i put it was about this big when i put my hand up it was about
00:03:52yeah that big how how close was it if i'd had a rock i could have hit it
00:04:00yeah and then it just one second it was gone
00:04:07mr. Dixon's vehicle was subsequently impounded and his belongings were entrusted to his mother
00:04:12mrs. Judy Dixon baron is my only child baron was always fascinated with spaceships
00:04:20he loves spaceships ever since he was a little baby i thought he'd be a football player when he grew
00:04:28up
00:04:29but he never got interested in sports at all he's only interest was outer space things
00:04:47i think about a year i think you worked here for about a year i don't know i hated that
00:04:52guy yeah we all
00:05:13he just didn't fit in
00:05:19his only friends were ed and randy and i don't think they were a very good influence on him
00:05:27did uh you take hallucinogenics on the night that baron disappeared
00:05:34i took four hits of acid well i had 12 originally but i took one of ed's so maybe i
00:05:42had five hits
00:05:44and i had some of baron's too so that was probably so ed probably had seven or eight
00:05:50um i tried to keep baron away from him
00:05:55uh we were pretty fucked up uh because
00:06:00we took all baron's acid when he didn't show up
00:06:04yeah we were uh we'd been waiting around the fire pit for him he didn't show up no
00:06:10but he had called me at 5 pm and he had told me that the night was that was the
00:06:17night and he'd been
00:06:18he knew they were coming yeah he knew it because he'd been talking about aliens all his life he said
00:06:23they were coming but he never said that but they were coming that night and he was serious there
00:06:30was he never said that before in all the 20 years i knew him he never had any false alarms
00:06:37or anything
00:06:38no that was the night he knew it
00:06:44the two witnesses claim that while on their hallucinogenic experience they did not see a space
00:06:50ship but what they did see and i quote is a space traveling vessel what do you the police feel
00:07:01that because you took hallucinogens that maybe you hallucinated the spacecraft that you didn't see a
00:07:08spacecraft i might have i might have been fucked up but i know when i see a spaceship i told
00:07:14them it
00:07:15it wasn't a spaceship it was a space vessel
00:07:21i expected that they were trying to get baron to do something with drugs the same as they were
00:07:32see what i was saying before was about how the scope you can shoot for a mile away but with
00:07:39this
00:07:39when you're shooting them close like this we are um you shoot underneath the scope with the that's a good
00:07:46setup but if he was a mile away i just look in the scope and then i could hit him
00:07:53okay i'm gonna shoot
00:07:54the dog in the face
00:07:59make that a hundred dalmatians
00:08:06when you're shooting at him you should shoot for him like it's real like you should shoot him in the
00:08:10heart
00:08:11or in the face or in the belly or in the groin you could shoot him in the neck
00:08:21next shot's pretty good the next shot will always take him out so i'm gonna i'm gonna probably shoot
00:08:26this one in the neck or i'll try to pop one of his eyes off
00:08:38there goes that pile of cow shit
00:08:44i'm gonna shoot i'm gonna shoot them dials that are fuckin
00:09:10i'm gonna shoot i'm gonna shoot them dials that are fuckin
00:09:12so
00:09:18ever since he was little he was fascinated by spaceships and he talked about aliens
00:09:24and spaceships only he called them sky boats
00:09:28sky boats yes sky boats and there were sky mommies and sky daddies
00:09:37we've got a home movie of him running around holding a football over his head
00:09:42and saying sky boat sky boat sky boat
00:09:48so
00:09:49i
00:10:15so
00:10:28So, tell me how you knew Judy and Barron.
00:10:31Oh, I lived next door to Judy and Barron, let's see, till Barron was twelve or thirteen,
00:10:37make it about twenty years.
00:10:39Did he talk to you about aliens much, or...
00:10:44That's all he ever talked about, over and over again, over again, it was just too much.
00:10:52So, do you believe he was taken away by aliens, or...?
00:10:56Yeah, I would say he was.
00:10:59He had just started school, maybe the first grade, when he told me that people from another planet
00:11:06were going to come and take him to another planet.
00:11:10I told him they weren't going to do that.
00:11:13But he said, oh yes they are.
00:11:16He was determined on it ever since then.
00:11:19You couldn't tell him any different.
00:11:23Hello, my name is Ruth Seiferlein, and I was Barron's third grade teacher.
00:11:29Uh, Barron was a very memorable child, to say the least.
00:11:32He was very creative.
00:11:35Always making things, or wanting to make things, or building, or painting, or anything like that.
00:11:41He loved model airplanes.
00:11:44And, uh, he was very active.
00:11:47He did talk about aliens and spaceships quite a bit.
00:11:50This is some of the artwork Barron did as a boy.
00:11:54His teachers gave him busy work, so that, to keep his mind occupied, he was just too much for a
00:12:04lot of his teachers.
00:12:23Oh yes, he also had a habit of keeping his hands in the front of his pants.
00:12:27Like, down his pants. A lot.
00:12:30I'd pull him aside and I'd say,
00:12:32Barron, you've got to keep your hands out of your pants.
00:12:36Well, he'd take them out and he would never give me any trouble.
00:12:39But two minutes later, he'd have his hands right back down his pants.
00:12:43I couldn't get him to stop.
00:12:45And it was just one more thing, you know, for the kids to pick on him for.
00:12:53He didn't finish high school.
00:12:56The kids were picking on him too much and he got tired of it.
00:13:01Barron wet his pants a couple of times during class and that was hard for the kids to accept.
00:13:06It seemed to compound his problems a lot.
00:13:10One time in high school, Barron read a paper about how he wished that aliens would come from right in
00:13:16the middle of class
00:13:17so he wouldn't have to go to school or work or do anything he didn't want to do.
00:13:24But the teachers thought he was just nuts.
00:13:29I'm Dr. Matthews.
00:13:30At one time I was a psychiatrist for the Jackson County Public School System.
00:13:35Barron Dixon was referred to me by Mrs. Bailey, an English teacher at the time.
00:13:43Barron had written a paper in which he wished that aliens would come and remove him from the classroom
00:13:49so that he could prove to his peers that the stories he had told them in the past were true.
00:13:58I began meeting with Barron twice a week.
00:14:02And we talked a great deal about aliens and his wish to disappear.
00:14:09Barron had convinced himself that one day, a date he was not certain of,
00:14:15he would be picked up by a traveling spacecraft and taken to another planet.
00:14:20On this planet, he would be what he referred to as the Captain of the Workers or the Laborers of
00:14:28that planet.
00:14:29A rather common fantasy, actually.
00:14:33Did he ever talk to you about taking other people to another planet as well?
00:14:39I'm not at liberty to talk to you about anything that his mother did not already make public
00:14:45by publishing his now famous summer vacation report.
00:14:50The school psychiatrist told me that Barron needed a lot of attention.
00:14:57He didn't trust the real world because of all the lies his father had told him.
00:15:03His father was a traveling salesman.
00:15:07See, Barron had caught his father in a motel room with another woman.
00:15:13And it wasn't his mom.
00:15:15It wasn't his mom.
00:15:17And it was shortly after that, he went down to find out who his real parents were.
00:15:24So he went down to the adoption agency and tried to look up the records and everything.
00:15:31And they couldn't find any records on him.
00:15:33And according to their offices, Barron never ever even really existed.
00:15:40So no one knows where Barron came from.
00:15:44Nobody.
00:15:47It is true that Barron was adopted.
00:15:53And it's true that the agency didn't have any record of his existence.
00:15:57We tried to have a baby, but Barron's dad's sperm was crooked.
00:16:06Its tail was bent and it would just swim in circles.
00:16:10It would never go to the egg.
00:16:27Well, he'd gone down to that motel because his dad was traveling, you know, sales.
00:16:33Barron didn't get to see his father very much.
00:16:36Well, and the thing was that his dad, it was a surprise visit and his dad didn't know that he
00:16:41was coming down there.
00:16:44Barron had just gotten his driver's license and he decided to drive up to the city to surprise his dad.
00:16:51And Barron just walks in the room and there was his dad and there was this naked woman bouncing around
00:16:57in the hotel bed.
00:16:58And it wasn't his mom. And it really wasn't his mom.
00:17:04He told Barron that the woman in the room had locked herself out of her room.
00:17:09And he was just letting her use his.
00:17:12All right, I got the sound rolling.
00:17:14You got it? You got everything else rolling?
00:17:15Start rolling?
00:17:16Yeah, yeah, you got to roll on this.
00:17:18Okay.
00:17:18Start with everybody.
00:17:20Okay, good.
00:17:33I'm off fixing, right?
00:17:35Yeah.
00:17:36Okay.
00:17:36Found a place.
00:17:37Yeah, we found it.
00:17:38I'm Brian Flackard.
00:17:40I'm the production manager.
00:17:41How are you doing?
00:17:42This is Susie Fox.
00:17:43Hi, nice to meet you.
00:17:44She's the production assistant.
00:17:45Okay.
00:17:45Ryan Ferguson on sound.
00:17:47He's our sound man.
00:17:47Behind the camera is Jeff Cochran.
00:17:49Hey.
00:17:50How are you doing?
00:17:50Good to meet you.
00:17:51Here, let me get this water off.
00:17:53Okay.
00:17:54I'm just hosing the dog down.
00:17:55Oh, that's good.
00:17:57Nobody want to shut the water off?
00:18:03You found the place, huh?
00:18:05We found it.
00:18:06And it's nice to meet you.
00:18:08Very nice to meet you.
00:18:09Well, where do you want to do this?
00:18:11You can do it inside.
00:18:13Out here.
00:18:14Probably inside.
00:18:15How about in the kitchen?
00:18:16Keep it cool.
00:18:17Yeah.
00:18:17Okay.
00:18:17Come on in.
00:18:18Come on in.
00:18:19Come on in.
00:18:21Alright, you kids behave.
00:18:23Dad's getting an interview today.
00:18:25I am wrong.
00:18:30Go ahead and tell me your name.
00:18:32Yeah, my name is Daniel Edgar Dixon.
00:18:35But nobody calls me that.
00:18:37They call me Muff.
00:18:38Muff?
00:18:39Yeah.
00:18:40Muff.
00:18:40M-U-F-F.
00:18:42I'm Barron's dad.
00:18:45Barron was very upset when he found out that his father had been unfaithful to me.
00:18:51He had very little to do with his father after that.
00:18:55Well, I'm sure you've been told about Barron's imagination.
00:18:58The boy gets a thought in his mind.
00:19:00There's no changing it.
00:19:01Hi, Charles.
00:19:02I was up in Kingman, Arizona in a hotel.
00:19:06Hotel room on a road trip.
00:19:08Barron surprised me one day by knocking on the door.
00:19:12I let him in.
00:19:13And just as he came in, a lady come walking out of the shower.
00:19:18She said, she lived a couple of rooms down and the shower wasn't working.
00:19:22So me being a nice guy, I said, come on and take a shower here.
00:19:27Well, Barron took one look at her and one look at me.
00:19:31And I don't know what he was thinking.
00:19:36Barron couldn't believe his father lied to him like that.
00:19:41And he asked me, what else has his father been lying to him about?
00:19:47Yeah, I remember I used to tell Barron stories about how Japanese cars are made.
00:19:52What the moon is made of.
00:19:54Who lives on a big house on the hill.
00:19:58That boy was never short of questions.
00:20:01He wanted to know about everything and everybody.
00:20:06He was a smart kid.
00:20:08I never had to explain things to him more than once.
00:20:11And many things he seemed to already know.
00:20:14Yeah, I loved Barron a lot.
00:20:17He was my boy.
00:20:19Yeah, we did quite a bit together.
00:20:22I wish we could have done more.
00:20:23But I think he was a mama's boy.
00:20:32He was a big fucking liar.
00:20:34He's always making shit up.
00:20:36Always lying.
00:20:37Always doing shit out of his ass.
00:20:39Fuck, it didn't even matter.
00:20:40He brought in these paintings.
00:20:41I remember that time he had the paintings.
00:20:44He told me, what, those paintings, they all, because he said,
00:20:47I'm going to quit.
00:20:48He was fucking ridiculous.
00:20:49He was coming to work, I'm going to quit.
00:20:50He was trying to make my paintings.
00:20:51What?
00:20:51Who's trying to say is barricade.
00:20:53He's going to quit and paint these paintings of spaceships
00:20:57because he has this art dealer gallery guy
00:20:59that's going to sell these paintings of spaceships.
00:21:00He brought these pictures in.
00:21:01Of these fucking pictures that he did.
00:21:03And they were fucking stupid.
00:21:04He got a fucking retard.
00:21:06Retard did him.
00:21:06Hello, I'm Richard Stoneman.
00:21:10I'm Baron Dixon's art dealer.
00:21:13Baron came into my gallery in 1992.
00:21:17He had six paintings.
00:21:20They were very simple, very childlike paintings of spaceships.
00:21:25They were done in very bright colors, very playful.
00:21:28These three are on loan firm clients.
00:21:31As you can see, they're very fun, playful paintings.
00:21:36Childlike, very childlike.
00:21:38One might even say disturbingly childlike.
00:22:02childlike paintings
00:22:04Hi, I'm Erastasenedy.
00:22:07This is my home.
00:22:08As you see, I'm a collector of modern art.
00:22:21This piece is TIA, that's Trans-Interdimensional Airwave Service.
00:22:29They started out as Trans-International Airlines, but through the technology managed to come out
00:22:36with this wonderful spaceship-type lamp. It actually goes, it's interdimensional, it travels.
00:22:43You see, you charge it up like that, and when you get enough of a charge, it takes off.
00:22:49This is my spaceship to honor that piece. It's called We Come in Peace.
00:22:55And of course, when the aliens do come, you just know they're not going to come in peace.
00:22:59They're going to come loaded with guns and weapons, and they're going to annihilate us all.
00:23:04But such is life.
00:23:06I liked the paintings, and I felt good about them.
00:23:10I told him I would show his paintings in my gallery.
00:23:19The gallery, Richard Stoneman, of the Richard Stoneman Gallery,
00:23:24he was selling me a line of crap when he sold me the piece.
00:23:27I saw it, I fell in love with it.
00:23:29It's so modern. It's like a throwback to the modern art of the 60s, when all it's super serious hoity
00:23:40-toity-ness, you know.
00:23:43I had to have it. It was hilarious.
00:23:45My friends all love it.
00:23:47You know, I have parties, and people come, and they gather around the painting, and they ignore me.
00:23:52They ignored everything else in the room, and believe me, I have some lovely things here.
00:23:56People are just drawn to this painting. It's magical.
00:24:00I feel blessed to have had the wisdom to acquire it.
00:24:05That's what primarily it does for me.
00:24:07It moves me. It makes me giggle.
00:24:09I sit. I admire it.
00:24:12The little puppy flying up to his mommy or daddy or whatever the creature is up there, it's hard to
00:24:17tell.
00:24:17Well, I guess it's a sexless being.
00:24:25I did not see Baron for about a year after he brought in the spaceship paintings.
00:24:34When he did come back, he brought in these rather large paintings
00:24:40that were so disturbing and violent that I was tempted to call the police.
00:24:46They were the most gruesome paintings I had ever seen.
00:25:01This is my bedroom.
00:25:04And, uh, this is where I live.
00:25:22Baron gave me this painting because a lot of them he couldn't sell.
00:25:28But, um, I like this one the best because, uh, I don't know.
00:25:36I just like to look at it and think about where I am in life
00:25:38and how big the world is and how big the galaxy is
00:25:44and how there's so many different kinds of people
00:25:47and different kinds of plants.
00:25:50And I like to think what people on other planets might be like
00:25:54because, see, we only know a little bit about the planets that surround us.
00:26:00But there's millions of planets and there's millions of stars.
00:26:07And...
00:26:11I just like to look at it and think about what people on other planets might be like.
00:26:22I like things because they speak to me.
00:26:25They tug on my heart or something and I just have to have them.
00:26:30That's how I acquired that lovely painting over there.
00:26:33I just had to have it.
00:26:34It was hilarious.
00:26:35This little fella in a bubble and this dog flying up to him.
00:26:40I mean, that's great.
00:26:41You would expect a dog to have a bubble on his head and he's not.
00:26:44And that means he's truly an alien dog.
00:26:46I kind of have an alien dog myself, so I know about that.
00:26:52Baron requires a great deal of attention.
00:26:55And one way people get attention is by running away or staging their disappearance.
00:27:02Baron was able to disappear and validate his entire life and get the attention that he needs.
00:27:11He got his name in the paper, his picture in the news, a documentary.
00:27:16This is the journey.
00:27:19This one over here is the adventure.
00:27:22And this last one is the day the aliens came and took me to another planet.
00:27:48Baron was pretty upset when he couldn't make a living as an artist.
00:27:54He didn't like work.
00:27:56It was too much like school.
00:27:59People kept picking on him.
00:28:01Sherry boy in a red face.
00:28:03Big guy in a red face and a big bro.
00:28:05He's a little lazy.
00:28:06You couldn't get him to do a fucking thing around here.
00:28:08He's a little space bitch, man.
00:28:09He's totally fucking...
00:28:10He used to call him E.T.
00:28:11He used to call him E.T., remember?
00:28:13Yeah.
00:28:13Hey!
00:28:14Hey, E.T.
00:28:15E.T. phone home, motherfucker!
00:28:17I go, where's your fucking spaceship?
00:28:18Hey, bitch boy, where's your spaceship?
00:28:20This is Baron's dog.
00:28:23Her name is Bobo.
00:28:24Baron got her when he was, oh, 28, 29, maybe 30.
00:28:32She was a little tiny thing.
00:28:35No bigger than a shoe.
00:28:39He was fucking...
00:28:41Dang.
00:28:41He was the king of the homeless, red-faced, big-throat, stinky-fish-looking space.
00:28:46Oh, man!
00:28:47She had to work with him all the time.
00:28:48All the time.
00:28:50Baron used to get down and hug her.
00:28:53And he'd say, you're the only friend I've got, aren't you, Bobo?
00:28:57And she'd lick his face.
00:29:03Remember that fish that we rocked?
00:29:05That big fish was this big.
00:29:06It was a big-ass, a big sea bass.
00:29:09It was pretty big.
00:29:10Well, it wasn't like that, but no.
00:29:12I used to take that fish and I'd just take that fish and slap him right on top of the
00:29:16head, man.
00:29:16He didn't care.
00:29:17He didn't care.
00:29:18He had juices in his hair and everything.
00:29:20He didn't care.
00:29:22Bobo gets up with me in the morning and then I give her breakfast and then let her out.
00:29:29And she goes out to the end of the driveway and lays there all day looking up at the sky.
00:29:36It's as though she's waiting for Baron to come back home.
00:30:07So, the bell.
00:30:16What I don't get is that dog it is, every day it sits at the end of the driveway,
00:30:22stares up at the sky, all day long, every day, and it does it every day, weird, that is creepy.
00:30:48Tell me your name and your relationship to Barron.
00:30:51My name is Kathy Bell.
00:30:55You know, people tease me a lot about my name.
00:30:58Oh, okay.
00:30:59What relationship?
00:31:00Oh, yeah.
00:31:01My name is Kathy Bell and I'm Barron Dixon's ex-girlfriend.
00:31:05Oh, okay.
00:31:05How did the two of you meet?
00:31:07We met at a dead show when I was 21.
00:31:09No, I was 22 at a Grateful Dead concert we met when I was 22.
00:31:13And how old was Barron?
00:31:15He was 38.
00:31:16Oh, wow.
00:31:17Yeah.
00:31:17Well, my parents don't like that a lot either, but, you know, he was a lot of fun and he'd
00:31:23tell me these weird stories, but it was a blast.
00:31:26He'd tell me stories about other planets and people on the other planets and, I don't know,
00:31:33I would just totally get sucked up into his stories about secret societies and how they
00:31:39said there was a secret society that's going to be shipping people from this planet to
00:31:44another planet, a new planet that they have.
00:31:46And it's a better planet.
00:31:47It's cleaner.
00:31:48There's no pollution.
00:31:51It's a better planet.
00:31:53And Barron said that he was going to be in charge of a group of workers at the new planet
00:31:58and
00:31:59that they were going to be building this thing that's going to be connected to the Washington
00:32:03Monument and some church in Rome or something.
00:32:06I don't know.
00:32:06So, I mean, I would believe it, but I don't know if I really believed it or if it was
00:32:12just
00:32:12fun believing it, but it was, I don't know, he was a blast.
00:32:17It was like a game.
00:32:18It was fun.
00:32:20Oh, and then we had this great spaceship that he made in his backyard and he made it out of
00:32:24cardboard and one by twos and we'd mess around in that all night long and camp and look at
00:32:31the stars and it was just like a clubhouse and we'd sit around eating Twinkies and drinking
00:32:37wine coolers all night.
00:32:38It was great.
00:32:39It was just like a clubhouse.
00:32:48This is the spaceship Kathy and Barron built.
00:32:52It's, he used to do a lot of them as a kid, out of the refrigerator boxes.
00:32:58Let, I'll let you open the, that's for you.
00:33:05You can feel free to look inside.
00:33:07Let me get the lights.
00:33:36Let me get the lights.
00:33:49was it was like peaceful and it was like I could see through it it was a light I don't
00:33:56think I
00:33:57could it's like a light in it or around it was like a beautiful angel is heavenly and you know
00:34:06what whoa we were freaking out for like two hours I mean a fucking spaceship yeah where's Baron we
00:34:15kept yelling where's Baron it was like two hours we should have been Baron's day been talking about
00:34:22it forever and it yeah and then there's late for his own abduction it was kind of we didn't know
00:34:28you know what I didn't know where he was or anything you know we're just so freaked out
00:34:33then we found out and we's you know we never got to say goodbye we found out he's gone and
00:34:41we never even got to say goodbye to us or no one did his mom Kathy he's yeah he told
00:34:48Kathy a bunch
00:34:49of stuff he never said goodbye to his mom just a message on his mom's answering machine he loved

00:36:59Please leave your name and number and I will call you right back.
00:37:07Mom!
00:37:08Mom!
00:37:09Pick up the phone!
00:37:10Oh, please be there, Mom!
00:37:12Oh, jeez.
00:37:14Tonight's the night, Mom.
00:37:15Tonight's the night!
00:37:16They talked to me.
00:37:17Tonight's the night!
00:37:21I don't know, Mom.
00:37:24I'm kind of scared.
00:37:26They said I'm never coming back.
00:37:28I'm not going to get to see you.
00:37:31Oh, jeez, Mom.
00:37:32I wish I could be there.
00:37:35I wish I could give you a big goodbye.
00:37:39Oh, jeez.
00:37:40This is not how I thought I was going to be.
00:37:44I love you, Mom.
00:37:46I love you, Mom.
00:37:49I'm sorry for all the trouble I caused you growing up.
00:37:55I love you, Mom.
00:37:58I love you, Mom.
00:38:01I'm sorry.
00:38:04I'm sorry.
00:38:06I'm sorry.
00:38:07I loved you so much.
00:38:09I don't know what to do.
00:38:18I'm so lonely.
00:38:39He called me a lot after we broke up.
00:38:43He didn't want to break up, but it was too hard to go out with him.
00:38:48He did not know when to stop.
00:38:51He didn't know how to act in public.
00:38:54He would talk about UFOs and aliens to my parents.
00:38:58They didn't even like him to begin with, so you can imagine.
00:39:02And my sister hated him.
00:39:05She did not like him at all.
00:39:07Barron was so creepy.
00:39:09I mean, he was a full-grown guy and he lived with his mother.
00:39:13I don't know what my sister saw in him.
00:39:16He was big and hairy and ugly.
00:39:19And he believed in aliens.
00:39:21He was just stupid.
00:39:24Barron was a lot of fun.
00:39:25I mean, he liked nature and we'd go camping and we had these great things called pods and we'd camp
00:39:33out on them.
00:39:47Pods?
00:39:47He knew everything about the stars and the constellations.
00:39:50It was amazing.
00:39:51He knew everything.
00:39:54And we'd dream.
00:39:57We'd dream about other planets and what our dream planet would be like.
00:40:01We wish that there was a place where everybody was nice and everyone was in love and everyone had a
00:40:09mom and a dad.
00:40:11And, I don't know, we'd just dream.
00:40:25Well, I am Heather Westfall and Kathy used to be one of my best friends.
00:40:33Well, she began dressing really bad.
00:40:36She started dressing like a hippie.
00:40:39Then she's going to Grateful Dead concerts and the next thing you know, she is totally in love with Barron.
00:40:48Tell me about the first time you met Barron.
00:40:51I think the first time I met Barron was at my New Year's Eve party.
00:40:56Kathy had invited him.
00:40:58He comes strolling in and he's wearing this really tacky sweater that was far too tight for him.
00:41:05And he has on these tight, pleated dress slacks.
00:41:10And he absolutely creeped everyone out because he's standing in the corner and he's not blinking his eyes.
00:41:18He's just staring at everyone like this.
00:41:23I don't know, it was absolutely creepy.
00:41:26And he'd always been telling me about this guy shooting off rockets and such.
00:41:31And I went out to Superstition Mountains.
00:41:34I remember this.
00:41:35And the very first time I saw Barron, he was dressed like some kind of futuristic astronaut.
00:41:42And he had some voice changer on his...
00:41:44Yeah.
00:41:45I am a robot.
00:41:47I am a robot.
00:41:48I make Japanese cars.
00:41:51Like that.
00:41:52It was funny.
00:41:54And he gave me this camera and he goes, you know, take a picture of this and take a picture
00:42:00of that and whatever.
00:42:01And he went and made a whole movie out of it.
00:42:04And he called it The Launch.
00:42:07The Super Launch.
00:42:08The Super Launch.
00:42:09The Super Launch.
00:42:11The Super Launch.
00:42:12The Super Launch.
00:42:40All right.
00:42:43All right.
00:43:28All right.
00:43:55All right.
00:44:19I know he really liked my sister.
00:44:21I mean, you could tell he was totally in love with her, but I don't know.
00:44:25He was just weird.
00:44:27Well, none of my friends liked him, so it was mostly just Barron and I.
00:44:34But sometimes we'd hang out with Randy.
00:44:38We won't use everything.
00:44:40We just keep it running.
00:44:43Yeah, but it's illegal.
00:44:48It's a smoke.
00:44:49Whoa!
00:44:49It's a smoke.
00:44:53There we are.
00:44:59All right, where are we going, guys?
00:45:01I thought we were going to do some donuts.
00:45:06Bye.
00:45:09Bye.
00:45:12Bye.
00:45:16Bye.
00:45:26Bye.
00:45:41Come down out of the mountains
00:45:43Way across the plains
00:45:44Go look at the horizon city
00:45:47Phoenix in the flames
00:45:48Portage
00:45:51Portage
00:46:03It's just something we do for fun
00:46:06Wind that bitch up
00:46:08Go baby
00:46:10Go
00:46:11Get a boy
00:46:14Get a boy
00:46:22Well, the night that he disappeared, he called me
00:46:25He did call me
00:46:27He told me that he was going to go to the new planet
00:46:31That he was talking about
00:46:33And
00:46:37He said that he wasn't coming back
00:46:44I could hear
00:46:45That he was scared
00:46:47He was really scared
00:46:49I'm afraid that he's in hiding somewhere
00:46:52Stalking my sister
00:46:53And one night he's going to come out of hiding
00:46:55And do something awful to her
00:46:58I mean, he used to call me all the time
00:47:01He doesn't call me anymore at all
00:47:03Not even
00:47:04I don't know
00:47:05Where is he?
00:47:07I mean, I'm not saying he used to stalk me or anything
00:47:09But
00:47:10I would see him everywhere I went
00:47:13Every single day
00:47:16I'd talk to him on the phone every day
00:47:19And now he's nowhere
00:47:21I was right here
00:47:22I came out
00:47:23Saw a baron across the street
00:47:25Donut shop with a bag of donuts in his hand
00:47:28And I yelled out
00:47:29Hey, baron
00:47:30I thought you was in outer space, you old son of a bitch
00:47:38You can't be in outer space
00:47:39And be over there eating donuts at the same time
00:47:43I don't care who you are
00:47:47Emmett James
00:47:49He wouldn't know his head from a hole in the ground
00:47:53My name is Emmett James
00:47:56I know baron ever since he was a little grasshopper
00:48:00I knew baron when he was wearing diapers
00:48:03Like a little baby
00:48:06Ah, baron had a hard time making friends
00:48:11I think the only friend he ever had was
00:48:13What he added to the imagination
00:48:18Well, baron was a troublemaker
00:48:20Ever since he was little
00:48:23Young whippersnapper
00:48:24His mind was gone
00:48:27You know, all the people that knew baron
00:48:29They thought he was crazy
00:48:32They just didn't know
00:48:41My name is Dean McDermott
00:48:43I'm the president and chairperson of the IRO
00:48:48That's the UFO Information Retrieval Organization
00:48:52The IRO is a non-profit organization
00:48:55That is involved in fundraising
00:48:58As well as lobbying
00:49:00In order to try and establish a place
00:49:02Where alien forces can land their spacecrafts
00:49:06Without any fear of danger
00:49:10What we have here
00:49:12Is
00:49:15The plan that I've come up with
00:49:18To establish a space landing area
00:49:22In Scottsdale, Arizona
00:49:23This is actually like a large parking lot
00:49:27But
00:49:29It has lights for landing at night
00:49:31It also will have some bleachers
00:49:34And a modest dwelling
00:49:37Wherein we will have restrooms, telephones
00:49:40And of course, snack machines
00:49:42Sort of like a highway rest area
00:49:47Let me turn this on
00:49:49And give you the effect
00:49:57Hold on just one second
00:50:03Is it on yet?
00:50:06Uh, no
00:50:08Hmm
00:50:10Okay, hold on just one more second
00:50:13Try this over here
00:50:15Is it on yet?
00:50:17Uh, no
00:50:18How about now?
00:50:19No
00:50:20Is it on yet?
00:50:22Uh, nope
00:50:22Hmm
00:50:24Oh, oh yeah
00:50:25Yeah, that's odd
00:50:26Oh
00:50:27Good
00:50:28Ah, there
00:50:30As you can see, the lights
00:50:33Okay
00:50:35Anyway, this area
00:50:37Is set up also
00:50:39As you can see
00:50:40With a large
00:50:41Antenna
00:50:43And this can send out a radio signal
00:50:45Both in Morse code
00:50:47And in English
00:50:48Which says
00:50:48Welcome to our planet
00:50:50Please stop
00:50:51And introduce yourself
00:50:53My name is Dean McDermott
00:50:55This place
00:50:56Is safe for landing
00:50:58And this message
00:50:59Of course repeats
00:51:00Endlessly
00:51:06Uh, do you feel that
00:51:08Uh, Baron was
00:51:09Taken away by aliens?
00:51:11No, I do not
00:51:12Uh, why don't you
00:51:14Believe that?
00:51:15Because they
00:51:16They being in the aliens
00:51:18Like to work with humans
00:51:20Who are cooperative
00:51:20And peaceful
00:51:21And, uh
00:51:22Baron
00:51:23Baron was just
00:51:24Stubborn
00:51:25And rude
00:51:47Tell us your name
00:51:48And what a day did you do?
00:51:50My name is Nate Lund
00:51:50I maintain a few websites
00:51:53Nate Lund.com
00:51:54Is a site for my own artwork
00:51:57Uh, Ragnarokstudio.com
00:52:01Is, uh, public 3D artwork
00:52:03Tutorials, etc
00:52:05And then
00:52:06BaronDixon.com
00:52:07Uh, tell us about
00:52:09The BaronDixon website
00:52:10Um, it's a site
00:52:12All about my cousin
00:52:13Baron
00:52:14Who disappeared somewhere
00:52:16Do you think he was
00:52:18Taken to another planet?
00:52:19No
00:52:20No
00:52:21I know you're gonna ask that
00:52:22But, no
00:52:24There's about 20 people or so
00:52:26That check into the message boards
00:52:27Pretty much every day
00:52:28Not twice a day
00:52:29Uh, they post messages
00:52:31About where they think
00:52:32He might be
00:52:33They talk about him
00:52:33Take it way
00:52:34Too seriously
00:52:40So, do you believe in aliens?
00:52:43I know there's aliens
00:52:44They took Baron
00:52:48Another thing I do with the website
00:52:50Is, well
00:52:50People can report
00:52:52Sightings of Baron
00:52:53And, uh
00:52:55Uh, most of the sightings
00:52:57Are along
00:52:57Interstate 25 and 40
00:52:59And then
00:53:01There's a few in
00:53:02Winnom, Minnesota
00:53:02And
00:53:03Fort Wayne, Indiana
00:53:05Uh, we got relatives
00:53:07In both places
00:53:10Uh, most of the people
00:53:11I come in contact with
00:53:13Think he was abducted
00:53:14And
00:53:14They're all a little bit like him
00:53:19Uh, so you believe
00:53:21That you're going to go
00:53:22To the new planet?
00:53:24Why else would I be
00:53:25Doing all this?
00:53:28What else do you do
00:53:29With the website?
00:53:31Um
00:53:31That's the only one
00:53:32I make money with
00:53:33Because I sell t-shirts
00:53:35To help keep it going
00:53:36It's this one here
00:53:38It says
00:53:38Where in the galaxy
00:53:39Is Baron Dixon
00:53:40Even though I don't believe
00:53:41He's out there
00:53:42Everybody else does
00:53:44And this is what sells
00:53:45So
00:53:45It keeps people coming
00:53:47The photo I got
00:53:49Is from a birthday party
00:53:50For my brother
00:53:53I also sell
00:53:54Individual photos
00:53:58Uh, now here's
00:53:59One guy
00:54:00Uh, claiming that
00:54:02He knows Baron Dixon's
00:54:04On the, uh
00:54:05The third moon
00:54:06Of Pluton
00:54:07Uh
00:54:09Right
00:54:19Did you enjoy
00:54:20Being around
00:54:21Being around Baron?
00:54:22No
00:54:22No
00:54:24Why not?
00:54:25He was creepy
00:54:26Actually
00:54:27What
00:54:28What was creepy
00:54:29About him?
00:54:30Well he always had this thing
00:54:31Where he'd want me
00:54:32To give him a piggyback ride
00:54:33As like a big hello
00:54:35I don't know
00:54:36I don't know
00:54:36I, I don't like that
00:54:39How did I meet Baron?
00:54:41Um, well
00:54:42When I joined the engineering faculty here
00:54:45And, uh
00:54:45That's a while ago now
00:54:47Uh, I was a model rocket, uh
00:54:49Fanatic
00:54:50Uh, I love the, the whole process
00:54:52Of, uh, designing rockets
00:54:54Uh, gluing them together
00:54:55Uh, late at night
00:54:57And, uh, then the, uh
00:54:58Next morning going out on the range
00:55:00Uh, slamming home a big engine
00:55:03And, whoosh, bang
00:55:06I love that
00:55:07So, I wanted to turn other people on to it
00:55:10Uh, and I volunteered to teach a class at the, uh
00:55:13Y
00:55:14And, uh, that's where I met, uh, young, uh
00:55:16Young Baron
00:55:17Uh, he, uh
00:55:18He impressed me, uh, from the start
00:55:20Uh, his, uh, smart kid
00:55:22Curious kid
00:55:23Uh, we learned, uh, a lot, uh
00:55:25Together
00:55:25Uh, uh
00:55:26We designed, uh, some, uh
00:55:28Big rockets
00:55:29And, uh, we shot him off
00:55:31Of great fun
00:55:33Do you believe that, uh
00:55:35Aliens may have taken him to another planet then?
00:55:38Or
00:55:39Well, aliens, I mean
00:55:41To, to believe that
00:55:42You've got to believe in, in aliens
00:55:43And, I'm a scientist
00:55:44Uh, I don't believe in aliens
00:55:46Uh, uh
00:55:47I don't believe that, uh
00:55:48There are, uh
00:55:49Uh, you know
00:55:50Little green or gray or purple fellows, uh
00:55:54Uh, uh
00:55:54Swooping around
00:55:55In a spacecraft, uh
00:55:57Grabbing people, uh
00:55:58Taking him up for
00:56:00Medical experiments
00:56:01Or, for travel to other planets
00:56:03Or, uh, whatever
00:56:04I, you know
00:56:05What our evidence is very bad
00:56:07No, I, I don't
00:56:08I don't believe that
00:56:09Then, uh
00:56:10Do you believe that he may have
00:56:11Staged his disappearance then?
00:56:14Well, like I said
00:56:16I don't believe in aliens
00:56:18But, there are facts
00:56:21A couple of facts
00:56:22About his disappearance that
00:56:24I've thought a lot about
00:56:26And that, uh
00:56:27That troubled me
00:56:28Uh, first
00:56:29His dog
00:56:30Uh, he loved his dog
00:56:32And he, he loved his dog
00:56:34And he really loved his dog
00:56:36Uh, it just
00:56:38Didn't seem to me to be like him
00:56:40Just to abandon his dog
00:56:42I mean, if he'd wanted to stage his disappearance
00:56:45And then to start a new life
00:56:47Uh, why didn't he just stage the abduction of his dog?
00:56:50I mean, aliens are, uh
00:56:51Uh, supposed to, uh
00:56:53Uh, swoop down and, uh
00:56:55Abduct cattle, right?
00:56:57Uh, uh
00:56:57So why not, uh
00:56:58Why not a dog?
00:57:00I mean, it would have seemed credible
00:57:01Uh, the second thing is his car
00:57:03Uh, his car was found, uh
00:57:06In, you know
00:57:07In the middle of nowhere
00:57:0830 miles from the nearest bus stop
00:57:11Uh, if he staged his abduction
00:57:14He left himself an awful long walk
00:57:17And, you know
00:57:18Why wouldn't he have just, uh
00:57:20Uh, staged an abduction
00:57:22From a vacant lot
00:57:23Or from behind a restaurant
00:57:25Uh, would have been far more convenient
00:57:28So, there are a couple facts
00:57:30That trouble me
00:57:32About, uh, his, uh
00:57:33Disappearance
00:57:34It seemed strange to me
00:57:35But, you know
00:57:36Um, I, I'm not saying
00:57:39He was abducted by aliens
00:57:40It just bothered me
00:57:42Do you think that, uh
00:57:44Randy and Ed may have had
00:57:46Something to do with his disappearance
00:57:48Or helped him with his disappearance?
00:57:50Randy and Ed
00:57:51Randy and Ed
00:57:52They're such burnouts
00:57:53I mean, I doubt
00:57:54That those guys could have
00:57:56Concocted a story
00:57:57And a scheme
00:57:58That was coherent enough
00:58:00Uh, to fool the police
00:58:02And they would have broken down
00:58:03They would have gotten confused
00:58:04Under interrogation
00:58:06I mean, those guys
00:58:07I mean, between their
00:58:08Interested in explosives
00:58:10And recreational chemicals
00:58:12I mean, they've burnt so many brain cells
00:58:14I doubt they could get it together
00:58:16To help out, uh, Barrett
00:58:19Well, we got it all set here now
00:58:23Is my fish burrito?
00:58:25No, actually, that's, uh
00:58:26Two bean burritos
00:58:27Two, two fish burritos
00:58:29And a pint of beans
00:58:33And a pint of beans
00:58:34That's all we need
00:58:35Two fish burritos
00:58:37And zero beans
00:58:37That's good
00:58:38Thank you
00:58:39Excellent, amigo
00:58:52This is Baron's apartment
00:59:00My sister has several rentals
00:59:02In the area
00:59:03So she's letting me keep
00:59:04The apartment
00:59:05So that
00:59:06When he
00:59:08If he comes back
00:59:10He'll have his own stuff
00:59:12And his own place
00:59:16I kept everything
00:59:17Just the way it was
00:59:25Baron was a big fan
00:59:27Of Ronald Reagan
00:59:28And Jimmy Carter
00:59:29He felt that they were
00:59:31About to announce
00:59:32Alien contact
00:59:35But
00:59:36He kept records
00:59:38And Ronald Reagan
00:59:40Made
00:59:40Five separate speeches
00:59:43Referring to aliens
00:59:44Jimmy Carter
00:59:45Made three
00:59:49I think Baron felt
00:59:51That if they made reference
00:59:53To alien contact
00:59:55People would accept him more
00:59:59And
01:00:00Maybe not be so mean to him
01:00:06Do you mind if we
01:00:07Take a look around the place?
01:00:09Would that be alright?
01:00:10No
01:00:10I don't mind
01:00:11Not at all
01:00:12Okay
01:00:13You go right ahead
01:00:15It makes me a little sad
01:00:17Being in here
01:00:18If you
01:00:19Don't mind
01:00:19I'm going outside
01:00:20Just take your time
01:00:22Thank you
01:00:24I don't mind
01:00:24I don't mind
01:00:25I don't mind
01:00:39I don't mind
01:00:43I don't mind
01:00:44I don't mind
01:00:44I don't mind
01:00:44I don't mind
01:00:45I don't mind
01:00:46I don't mind
01:00:46I don't mind
01:00:46I don't mind
01:00:46I don't mind
01:00:47I don't mind
01:00:48I don't mind
01:00:48I don't mind
01:00:48I don't mind
01:00:49I don't mind
01:00:50I don't mind
01:00:50I don't mind
01:00:50I don't mind
01:00:50I don't mind
01:00:51I don't mind
01:00:51I don't mind
01:00:51I don't mind
01:00:52I don't mind
01:00:53I don't mind
01:10:31And...
01:14:21Do you think you'll ever see Kathy again?
01:14:24Do you think you'll ever see Kathy again?
01:14:28No...
01:14:30No one listens to us.
01:14:31No one listens to me.
01:14:33Those fuckers.
01:14:34I don't give a shit.
01:14:35I'd sooner take my chances with the aliens than I would.
01:14:37I hope the aliens come back before the cops come back, though.
01:14:39That's what I mean.
01:14:40I'd rather be with the fucking aliens.
01:14:42My whole life's been in the shit van for months now.
01:14:48And then they still come back at us.
01:14:51I'll tell you what.
01:14:52It don't look good for me and Randy here.
01:14:54This is probably the end for me and Ed.
01:14:59My sister came home and told me she was going away.
01:15:02That two people had come up to her in the parking lot
01:15:04and asked if she wanted to go to the new planet to live with Baron.
01:15:08And of course she said yes.
01:15:10She was incredibly happy.
01:15:13She came home, gave me a hug, gave me this letter,
01:15:17and then she drove off.
01:15:20I'll read the letter.
01:15:24Dear Mom and Sis,
01:15:26I don't know how to say this so that you'll believe me, so I'll just be blunt.
01:15:30I'm going to go to another planet to live with Baron.
01:15:33We're going to live in a community with other people from Earth.
01:15:36The new planet is very clean and is unexplored.
01:15:40There are no businesses and no government and no money.
01:15:43Everyone is working together to build big gardens with sculptures, murals, and paintings.
01:15:48I know it sounds crazy and I know it sounds impossible, but I want you to believe me.
01:15:53The new planet is beautiful.
01:15:55I love you guys.
01:15:56P.S.
01:15:57I'll miss you.
01:15:58Love, Kathy.
01:16:02P.S.
01:16:04Sis, you're young and you're smart.
01:16:06Don't listen to what they tell you.
01:16:09Believe in yourself.
01:16:12Believe in a new planet.
01:16:15I believe.
01:16:16Believe in yourself.
01:16:19Believe in yourself.
01:16:33Believe in yourself.
01:16:34Believe in yourself.
01:16:36Believe in yourself.
01:16:36Believe in yourself.
01:16:36Believe in yourself.
01:16:37Believe in yourself.
01:16:37Believe in yourself.
01:16:37Believe in yourself.
01:16:38Believe in yourself.
01:16:40Believe in yourself.
01:16:45Believe in yourself.
