Pauline Clarke from Louthe, Ireland, captures the compassionate moment as her son works to carefully cut the hedgehog free without causing it further distress.
Pauline explained: “My son found a hedgehog tied up in our football net one morning. He gently tried to cut the hedgehog free and spent the entire time reassuring it that it would all be ok.
"My son is the eldest of four children with disabilities, specifically ASD, he is now an adult with a degree but struggles socially. He has such a natural empathy with animals despite never having had a pet of his own.”
