Interest in one of the UK’s biggest charity events is rising sharply, with more people hoping to take part. Organisers are also considering changes that could open up more places.

00:09More than 1.3 million people have entered, the highest total so far with strong interest from across communities and

00:18and with applications between males and females being near equal.
00:22Organisers say the demand reflects how many people are using running to stay active, raise money and support causes close
00:29to them.
00:30Ballot results are due in July.
00:32Plans are also being explored to stage the event over two days, which could increase charity fundraising and widen access,
00:39although no final decision has yet been confirmed officially.
