00:03:00that's all right.
00:03:03Kiss the blues goodbye.
00:03:07Goodbye, yeah.
00:03:08инг.
00:03:09Skirpy.
00:03:10Hey!
00:03:13Come here.
00:03:17Hey!
00:03:26Oh, my God.
00:04:02Let's give it up one more time.
00:04:06Hey, where's my tequila?
00:04:22Let's give it up one more time.
00:04:48Why don't you let me take you home?
00:04:50Have a nice ride, huh?
00:04:53Hmm?
00:04:54Hmm?
00:04:55Hmm?
00:04:56Hmm?
00:05:03You think I'm a hooker?
00:05:07Ha, ha, ha!
00:05:09Woo!
00:05:11You ever see a girl act like that?
00:05:14She's a wild one.
00:05:16I bet you I can break her.
00:05:17I bet you can.
00:05:19Here, go give her that.
00:05:21And give her my phone number.
00:05:24My address, too.
00:05:28Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
00:05:42Oh, Jesus.
00:05:45What?
00:05:47Yeah, I know.
00:05:48I left my keys in your car.
00:05:50I have to break into my own house.
00:05:53Yeah, okay, bye-bye.
00:06:00Oh, my God.
00:06:05Bye-bye.
00:06:10Bye-bye.
00:06:14Bye-bye.
00:07:27Oh, my God, he's not breathing.
00:07:32Oh, my God.
00:07:35How's he looking?
00:07:37Oh, he's gone.
00:07:38Been gone a while, I'd say.
00:07:44Can you shock him or something made him come back?
00:07:47Ma'am, just take her out of here, okay?
00:07:53Okay, ma'am, can you tell me what happened?
00:07:59How long has your husband been laying over there like that?
00:08:01I don't know.
00:08:03All day, yes.
00:08:06Daddy, he was sick.
00:08:08He was up all night.
00:08:10He bought a bunch of dope.
00:08:12Dope? What do you mean, like pot?
00:08:13Yeah, no.
00:08:23Black tar heroin, at least 10 empty balloons.
00:08:27There were 12.
00:08:30He stayed up all night and then he woke me up.
00:08:36He, because he said he was feeling sick.
00:08:40He was afraid he might have a seizure.
00:08:46And he wanted me to watch him, so I just laid on the couch and I just watched him and
00:08:53I fell asleep for a bit.
00:08:55And I, I was tired because he'd get me up all night.
00:09:00And he wouldn't like to come up all night.
00:09:03I tried to make him breathe and he wouldn't breathe.
00:09:07He wouldn't breathe.
00:09:08He wouldn't breathe.
00:09:09There's a, um, prescription bottle there next to him.
00:09:13Looks like a prescription for about 120 Xanax.
00:09:16That was filled yesterday.
00:09:19Do you think he took all of them?
00:09:22Just last week, I, I mean, he promised me to go to rehab.
00:09:27And he promised me.
00:09:32You promised me!
00:09:34He promised me.
00:09:37You promised me!
00:09:38You got something to calm her down, did you?
00:09:40You promised me!
00:09:46Man, man, man, it's already a circus.
00:09:48Are we the last ones on the scene?
00:09:49I told you we didn't have time for you to stop and take a leak.
00:09:52Let's go.
00:09:57You set?
00:09:57You're going right in.
00:09:58All right, I'll meet you.
00:10:21I'm here on Palomino Lane, in front of the home of former casino boss, Ted Binion, who was found dead
00:10:26today, after an apparent drug overdose.
00:10:29Binion was, of course, the son of Las Vegas pioneer Benny Binion, immortalized in the statue erected in his honor
00:10:34down on 2nd Street.
00:10:36Ted Binion was part owner of the casino, founded by his father, the famous Binion's Horseshoe, site of the annual
00:10:41World Series of Poker Tournament, an event the older Binion introduced in 1970, and an event which Ted Binion himself
00:10:47hosted for several decades.
00:10:48Perhaps not coincidentally, this tragedy occurs only seven months after a hearing in which Binion's gaming license was permanently revoked
00:10:56by the gaming control board because of his drug use and his ties to mob figure Fat Herbie Blitstein.
00:11:01Mr. Blitstein is not now, or was he ever, a business associate.
00:11:07I simply knew him as a heck of a nice guy.
00:11:11And I don't think that having dinner with a friend should bar me from operating a casino that I've run
00:11:19for my entire adult life.
00:11:22It's the only life I know.
00:11:24It's the only life I want.
00:11:31Binion's body was discovered by Sandy Murphy, his live-in girlfriend, who was so shaken up, she was taken to
00:11:37a nearby hospital for evaluation.
00:11:39Kevin James, KNBB News, Las Vegas.
00:11:44I'm sorry, sir.
00:11:48Vegas Police Department, the casino boss, Ted Binion, recently in the news for his troubles with the Nevada Gaming Control
00:11:54Board, was indeed found dead of a drug overdose.
00:11:58The beginning was surprised. He was a junkie.
00:12:00There are no additional details at this time.
00:12:03We'll keep you up to date.
00:12:05Rick Tabish.
00:12:06Hey, you okay?
00:12:08The cops are here and they want to talk to me again and I swear to God I'm going to
00:12:11lose it.
00:12:12Look, you're not going to lose it.
00:12:14I can't deal with this alone.
00:12:16You have to come back.
00:12:18No one can do.
00:12:20That Silver is an orphan.
00:12:21That Silver needs a new mommy and daddy.
00:12:24Well, get it tomorrow.
00:12:25I need you to come back now.
00:12:27I need you to come back now.
00:12:41As Ted Binion's attorney and lifelong friend, I can only express a sense of deep shock.
00:12:51Look, I saw him just the other day.
00:12:54I can't believe it.
00:12:56Luke.
00:12:57Jay Green, Las Vegas Sun.
00:12:59What do you say to the rumor that Binion was a targeted mob hit?
00:13:03I mean, after all, Fat Herbie was murdered three months ago.
00:13:05That is ridiculous.
00:13:07There were absolutely no signs of foul play.
00:13:15Uh, look, that's, that's all, no more comment.
00:13:18Luke.
00:13:19Luke.
00:13:20Luke.
00:13:21Uh, Rick Tappish on construction.
00:13:23I'm with Luke Luke.
00:13:24Luke.
00:13:25Hey, Sandy called.
00:13:26She's at the hospital.
00:13:27Cops are all over.
00:13:28She needs your help.
00:13:28Sorry, not my problem.
00:13:30Not your problem?
00:13:31Wait, isn't it your job to protect your clients?
00:13:33Look, just because Ted got drunk with you a few times, doesn't mean long.
00:13:36Come on, Luke.
00:13:37I've been here almost every day for the past six months, and you know that.
00:13:40Yeah.
00:13:41Yeah, I know that.
00:13:45What the hell is your problem?
00:13:49Come in.
00:13:50Hello?
00:13:52Rick.
00:14:07I, uh, I brought Greg.
00:14:10You're a lawyer?
00:14:11Why didn't you bring Luke?
00:14:15I just talked to your doctor, Sandy.
00:14:17He won't release you until he knows you have somewhere to stay.
00:14:20What do you mean?
00:14:20I'm going home.
00:14:22Can't.
00:14:24Luke said they had to do an inventory of the house first, preserve the contents.
00:14:28But it's my house.
00:14:30It's in Teddy's will.
00:14:31I get the house.
00:14:32Luke knows that.
00:14:35Oh, God, it's Becky.
00:14:37She wants me out.
00:14:39That gold-digging, booty-shaking whore.
00:14:42Crying her crocodile tears, will she?
00:14:45Teddy said he's going to throw her ass out just the other day.
00:14:49Really?
00:14:49Come on.
00:14:49What day was that?
00:14:50I don't know.
00:14:52You know, just the other day, overdosed my fat aunt Fanny.
00:14:57My brother has been smoking heroin on and off for the last 20 years.
00:15:01He knew exactly how much he could handle.
00:15:02I bet you my casino, that harlot had something to do with it.
00:15:07Something meaning what?
00:15:10I don't know.
00:15:13But I think the police ought to be investigating it as a homicide.
00:15:19A homicide?
00:15:21That's a pretty strong word.
00:15:23I knew that Sandy Murphy would be my brother's downfall from the minute I laid eyes on her.
00:15:29Benny?
00:15:31Benny?
00:15:33Benny?
00:15:35Who the hell are you?
00:15:41Hey!
00:15:42If you gave my boy drugs, I am going to shoot you between the eyes right now.
00:15:47He's not doing drugs.
00:15:48He's getting laid.
00:15:49He's getting laid?
00:15:50Hey, he's a baby!
00:15:52Hello.
00:15:54Hey, I remember you.
00:15:56Yeah.
00:15:58Yeah, come on over.
00:15:59Come on over.
00:16:00Yeah.
00:16:01Hey, Sandy, honey, you remember where I live.
00:16:03You know what?
00:16:04You've got a date sitting right by you right now, and you're still inviting another one over?
00:16:07You're an idiot.
00:16:08What can I say?
00:16:09The ladies love me.
00:16:11No, they love our money.
00:16:12That's what they love.
00:16:13No, no, this one's different.
00:16:16Yeah, right.
00:16:16Benny?
00:16:17Benny?
00:16:18Benny?
00:16:20Excuse me.
00:16:21When your dad finds out, get your shirt on.
00:16:24Come on, we're going home.
00:16:26Button up.
00:16:30Hey, there she is.
00:16:32Sandy Murphy!
00:16:34Oh, yeah, she's different, all right.
00:16:35Excuse me?
00:16:36Hey, watch out for my sister.
00:16:38She used to pull my hair when I was little.
00:16:39Hey.
00:16:40Hey, aren't you going to introduce them?
00:16:43Oh, hey.
00:16:44Terry, this is Sandy, my date.
00:16:46Sandy, this is Terry, my other date.
00:16:50How dare you embarrass me like this?
00:16:52You choose right now, her and me.
00:16:54Come on.
00:16:55She's got way too much nerve.
00:16:56Let's go.
00:16:57That's rich, coming from you.
00:16:58Come on.
00:16:59You are grounded.
00:17:03Terry?
00:17:04You have a nice evening.
00:17:09I like having my own teddy bear.
00:17:13I want to buy you something.
00:17:16Hmm?
00:17:17What do you like?
00:17:19You like diamonds?
00:17:23You could buy me a bumper sticker.
00:17:25It says, Ted Bunyan, satisfied lover.
00:17:28You got to stop calling me Bunyan.
00:17:30My name's not Bunyan.
00:17:33It's Binion.
00:17:35Binion.
00:17:36As in Binion's, Horseshoe.
00:17:40My casino.
00:17:45Yeah, right.
00:17:47You expect me to believe you own the Horseshoe.
00:17:56I met a chick who was real great
00:18:00Do-da-do-da-do-da-day.
00:18:02Cause she said, listen, man.
00:18:05I'd take you a span.
00:18:08But there's one thing that you should know.
00:18:11I gotta have lots of dough.
00:18:13I had to think of something quick.
00:18:16Do-da-do-da-do-da-day.
00:18:18Ha-ha-ha!
00:18:20Dozer!
00:18:21Good evening, Mr. Binion.
00:18:22How are you?
00:18:23Good, sir.
00:18:23Say hello to my girl.
00:18:25Good evening.
00:18:26Come on.
00:18:47This must be worth like a million dollars.
00:18:52Seven million dollars.
00:18:55A little loose change, baby.
00:18:58Loose change.
00:19:00Ka-ching.
00:19:03What were you saying about those diamonds
00:19:05that you were gonna get me?
00:19:06Oh, did I say something about diamonds?
00:19:12Well, all right.
00:19:13Yeah?
00:19:41This is Loose Sacco up at the house.
00:19:43There's someone here who's entered this house illegally.
00:19:45What?
00:19:46What did I just hear come out of your mouth?
00:19:47This woman is not the end of the property.
00:19:49She has no business here.
00:19:50I live here.
00:19:51She does not live here.
00:19:52She lives in California.
00:19:54See this?
00:19:55See this address?
00:19:56My address.
00:19:56I've lived here for three years.
00:20:01I'm not moving in with you.
00:20:05You know, you didn't answer your phone last night.
00:20:07I couldn't find you.
00:20:09What were you doing?
00:20:11Were you humping someone else?
00:20:13Go to hell.
00:20:13Well, you see?
00:20:15That's why I need you.
00:20:17Because you tell me to go to hell.
00:20:19That's how I know you mean what you say.
00:20:22And you remember what you said?
00:20:24What?
00:20:25You said that you were falling in love with me.
00:20:28Yeah?
00:20:29Well, I was drunk.
00:20:32Oh, come on.
00:20:33I'll buy you a car.
00:20:36I'll give you a credit card.
00:20:38I'll buy you a pony.
00:20:39I don't care about your money.
00:20:42Oh!
00:20:43Really?
00:20:44Well, then you don't care if I do this.
00:20:55Wait, no.
00:20:56All right, stop.
00:20:57It's real money.
00:21:00Okay, I'll move in with you.
00:21:03Hey, girl.
00:21:04Come here.
00:21:05Only if you're sure I can make you happy.
00:21:07Oh, baby.
00:21:08We were meant to be together.
00:21:12Mm-hmm.
00:21:15See?
00:21:16I told you.
00:21:17We're meant to be together.
00:21:25You come up the hard way, too close to the edge.
00:21:34You drank in the morning, won't quit cigarettes.
00:21:43You come up the hard way, too close to the edge.
00:21:48You come up the hard way, on the poor side of town.
00:21:52My family don't like it, when you come around.
00:22:01You come up the hard way, on the poor side of the night.
00:22:04Oh, my God.
00:22:05All these books.
00:22:10You ain't nobody's angel.
00:22:12There it is.
00:22:14What?
00:22:1538.
00:22:17Such a dog.
00:22:21There you go.
00:22:22There you go.
00:22:23I hope you're kidding you.
00:22:25I hope you're not planning on burying this way the hell out here.
00:22:27I wouldn't kid you, Lou.
00:22:28You're my favorite goat.
00:22:29Sit down.
00:22:30Have a drink.
00:22:31You're making me nervous.
00:22:33Have you ever heard of a secret deposit box?
00:22:36Sure, I have.
00:22:38It's all there, Tim.
00:22:40Well, unless my sister stole some of them, I'm on it.
00:22:42No, I'm telling you, it's all been inventory.
00:22:44And I'm telling you that we're doing another inventory,
00:22:47so start counting those sleeves.
00:22:53There's like a thousand books in there.
00:22:55Have you read all of them?
00:22:56Didn't anybody tell you?
00:22:58I'm a renaissance man.
00:23:01You?
00:23:03Where are you going?
00:23:04I told you to sit down and count them sleeves.
00:23:07You can let them go.
00:23:08I hope you count.
00:23:10Perfect.
00:23:11Sandy knows how to count.
00:23:14I gotta get back to town anyway.
00:23:17Get the hell out of here.
00:23:21Want to help me count?
00:23:23Mm-hmm.
00:23:25Mm-hmm.
00:23:27All right.
00:23:31Hey, you want to count?
00:23:32Sit down.
00:23:34Count these.
00:23:35Count these.
00:23:37Count this.
00:23:39Count this.
00:23:40Count this.
00:23:41And count this.
00:23:44And count this.
00:23:48Before my mother died, she asked each of us what we wanted.
00:23:52My sister, Becky, had a list as long as your arm.
00:24:01Me?
00:24:03I just wanted the silver.
00:24:10I know why you want this.
00:24:15But why do you want me?
00:24:19I mean, you're rich.
00:24:21I mean, you're rich.
00:24:21You're good-looking.
00:24:23You're smart.
00:24:26I didn't even finish high school.
00:24:28Don't sell yourself short, baby.
00:24:32Look at you.
00:24:35Gorgeous.
00:24:38Unpredictable.
00:24:41Mouthy.
00:24:44You're spectacular.
00:24:47You rescued me.
00:24:50I want to get old with you.
00:24:53I'm already old.
00:24:56That's all right.
00:24:59I'll be dead before you.
00:25:01I'll leave you a map where I buried all my treasure.
00:25:07Don't look at me like that.
00:25:09I know a pirate when I see one.
00:25:24I'm taking my clothes.
00:25:25You can't stop me.
00:25:26I don't care about your clothes.
00:25:29Then why am I looking at your ugly face right now?
00:25:31I thought you were going to get a court order.
00:25:33So why don't you go get one?
00:25:35Go!
00:26:07Hey.
00:26:09The coins are all still here.
00:26:11How's it going out there?
00:26:12Yeah, we just started digging.
00:26:15We just started digging, babe.
00:26:16Yeah.
00:26:18We'll hurry up because Lou's trying to get a court order
00:26:20to sit on top of everything.
00:26:22You're a preacher to the choir.
00:26:30Oh.
00:26:30Stack it with the others.
00:26:36Easy.
00:26:38What do you mean?
00:26:40We got problems.
00:26:44All right.
00:26:44Get that out of here.
00:26:45What are we still doing?
00:26:46You don't say anything.
00:26:47It's too quiet.
00:27:02Evening, officers.
00:27:04What can I do for you?
00:27:06Depends.
00:27:07What you got going on here?
00:27:10We're just framing, getting ready to pour a little concrete.
00:27:14This late at night?
00:27:15Well, we're going to pour the concrete in the morning.
00:27:19You need a truck like that to pour concrete?
00:27:21See, my truck will come in in the morning.
00:27:28Well, hello, gentlemen.
00:27:33There's a crap load of silver in here.
00:27:35Yeah.
00:27:38You know, we heard that Ted Binion had buried his silver out this way.
00:27:41But we figured he'd buried it on his ranch somewhere.
00:27:44Not right here.
00:27:45Well, that's Ted for you.
00:27:48I'd have been straight from the start.
00:27:50But I promised Ted to keep this a secret, so...
00:27:53Is that right?
00:27:54Yeah.
00:27:55Good friends with old Ted, were you?
00:27:58Yes, I was.
00:27:59Oh, Lordy.
00:28:03Oh, God.
00:28:06Woo!
00:28:07Ted Binion, how you doing?
00:28:10Good.
00:28:12Rick Tavish.
00:28:13Pleasure to meet you.
00:28:14Oh.
00:28:15Where you hail from, Tavish?
00:28:17My domicile is a great city of Missoula, Montana.
00:28:20Montana!
00:28:21Woo!
00:28:22Some of the best times of my life for a Montana.
00:28:26My daddy's ranch.
00:28:29Come on, Tavish.
00:28:31Buy you a drink.
00:28:32No, I'll buy you a drink.
00:28:36Herbie.
00:28:37I'll find a friend in the toilet.
00:28:39What did you say?
00:28:39What did you say to him, Missoula?
00:28:40Rick.
00:28:41What are you doing?
00:28:42Construction.
00:28:43Construction.
00:28:43Trucking.
00:28:44Hey.
00:28:45Hey, Herbie.
00:28:45How you been?
00:28:46Rick Tavish.
00:28:47Yeah, we've met.
00:28:48Yeah.
00:28:49They say this ain't a small town anymore.
00:28:52How's a nice boy from Montana?
00:28:54I know a shady character like you.
00:28:55Hmm?
00:28:56Yeah, he gets around, buddy.
00:29:00Well, I guess I don't gotta watch my P's and Q's with you.
00:29:02Well, the hell are you P's and Q's?
00:29:04You just don't tell them a lot.
00:29:11Look, I had a deal with Ted, all right?
00:29:13Look, if he was here right now, he'd be laughing his ass off, or he'd have your effing badge.
00:29:18Come on, guys.
00:29:19Up, out.
00:29:20Take him over to the car.
00:29:22I just can't understand why the police aren't calling it a suspicious death.
00:29:26I mean, anybody with half a brain can see that Sandy Murphy and that muscle-headed boyfriend of hers, they
00:29:33did it, they murdered him, they murdered Teddy.
00:29:36I mean, look, did you read it?
00:29:37Have you read it?
00:29:38Look, right there.
00:29:39They announced it practically to the world.
00:29:41They wanted him dead.
00:29:43What?
00:29:48There's a rumor going around that you wanted him dead.
00:29:52You told the gaming control board that Ted had made death threats against you.
00:29:58He told him that he only did it because you threatened him first.
00:30:01Teddy, you know that's BS.
00:30:04When Teddy was drinking or drinking, he said things, we all said things.
00:30:09Now, the big Teddy, you've done the paperwork.
00:30:11You know, there is something wrong with you.
00:30:13The gaming board has told you numerous times that shacking up with the stripper is a questionable choice, yet you
00:30:19continue to do so.
00:30:20It really ticks me off when you talk about me like I'm not here.
00:30:23So the gaming board's got their panties in a twist.
00:30:25So what's new, huh?
00:30:27In February, the suspension will be lifted and everybody will go back to work.
00:30:31Well, you couldn't pass a drug test if your life depended on it.
00:30:33Well, I'll shave every hair off my body if I have to.
00:30:35In the meantime, the horseshoe continues to crumble around our ears.
00:30:38No, thank you.
00:30:39We are buying you out.
00:30:40You'll be dead first.
00:30:41You're going to sit here and my house is dead in my life.
00:30:44I don't think so.
00:30:45You're definitely going to be gone.
00:30:45Well, you want flavor guns at the dinner table, that's fine with me.
00:30:48Good.
00:30:49It's the only way to shut her up.
00:30:51Don't put a gun on my mom.
00:30:54Yeah, I'll take you out.
00:30:56I hope you told your slut what clothes you want to be buried in.
00:31:01How many times I got to tell you?
00:31:03I'm the only one who's allowed to call her a slut.
00:31:07Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:31:16And just so everybody knows, I want to be buried in my blue suit.
00:31:22No, just so everybody knows, I'm going to buy them out.
00:31:29Why do you always laugh at the way your sister treats me?
00:31:32Well, I don't know why you got to always let it get to you.
00:31:36I'm afraid you'll believe her.
00:31:39Aw, baby.
00:31:42You know I don't care a thing about what she says.
00:31:48You don't get it.
00:31:50I love you.
00:31:53And if you left me, I don't know what I'd do.
00:31:55Aw.
00:31:57Give me a kiss.
00:32:03Somebody please get the door.
00:32:05Manny!
00:32:06Go get that door and then get dressed.
00:32:08We're going to be late for the service.
00:32:10I'm going.
00:32:11Coming!
00:32:13What's with the racket?
00:32:15Where's your mother?
00:32:24Ted's blue suit.
00:32:26I took it to the funeral place today.
00:32:28They told me that you'd already brought him a black suit.
00:32:30That's not what he wanted, Becky, and you know that.
00:32:34Of all days.
00:32:37Of all days.
00:32:43Who else is here?
00:32:45This is family time.
00:32:48And you are not invited.
00:32:52Go on.
00:32:55What are you doing?
00:32:57Becky, this isn't right!
00:32:59You can't act like I don't matter!
00:33:29Hey.
00:33:30Hey.
00:33:31We need to talk.
00:33:32Did they set your bail yet?
00:33:35That's not why I'm calling.
00:33:37They searched my truck.
00:33:39So?
00:33:40They found a note from you.
00:33:50My lover.
00:33:51I love my lover.
00:33:53That's what she wrote.
00:33:54Sandy Murphy and her lover, Rick Tabish, murdered my brother.
00:33:58I don't know how they did it, but they did it.
00:33:59And you know this because...
00:34:01Because I have flawless women's intuition.
00:34:03Now I just need somebody to get out there,
00:34:05start talking to people, and prove it one way or the other.
00:34:08Now, Lou offered you the job.
00:34:09Do you want it or not?
00:34:10Only if I'm allowed to give the police whatever I find.
00:34:14Honey.
00:34:24You know, my brother...
00:34:26You know, my brother...
00:34:30Teddy.
00:34:33We used to hide and go sick in that casino when we were kids.
00:34:40You give whatever you find, whatever, to the police.
00:34:45I'd appreciate it.
00:34:46You know what?
00:34:47There are fucking nuts, too.
00:34:49I love my lover right there.
00:34:50What the hell do they think is going on?
00:34:53This is such a nightmare.
00:34:56Don't worry, baby.
00:34:57I called the sheriff, baby.
00:34:59I've got it covered.
00:35:00I did call him.
00:35:01Three times I called him.
00:35:03Why did you keep that note?
00:35:06You know what?
00:35:07Good.
00:35:08It's out.
00:35:09I don't care who knows.
00:35:11Really?
00:35:12Well, don't forget I'm the actual one who's married.
00:35:14I didn't forget.
00:35:16Maybe I should have let her bail you out.
00:35:21Look, whatever they say about us, we just deny.
00:35:25Just deny, deny, deny.
00:35:28You know, if people knew what it was like living with Ted,
00:35:32they'd congratulate me for seeing Faithful as long as I did.
00:35:39What'd you do?
00:35:40Because you don't know when to shut up!
00:35:42Shut up!
00:35:45Shut up!
00:35:46Shut up!
00:35:48Shut up!
00:35:50Shut up!
00:35:53Don't you ever repeat me again!
00:35:57You better stop.
00:35:58Because I'll send your ass back to cheaters.
00:36:00Replace your ass!
00:36:03Mr. Dan, what is going on?
00:36:05What are you, writing a book?
00:36:15That woman ain't worth eight eggs.
00:36:19She sure knows how to fight.
00:36:22I suppose Rick called you, told you to take me out,
00:36:25keep me happy, keep me quiet.
00:36:27He's concerned about you, yes.
00:36:29Well, he should be.
00:36:30He's been gone three weeks, being Mr. Perfect Husband.
00:36:33He said he'd only be gone a couple of days.
00:36:35Hey, I want him back down here, too.
00:36:37I keep telling him, the pot's about to boil.
00:37:05I still don't understand how they can charge me with trying to steal the silver.
00:37:08I wasn't even there.
00:37:10Your cell phone records show that Rick talked to you several times while he was digging it up.
00:37:14Evidence of conspiracy.
00:37:16My cell phone records?
00:37:18That's right.
00:37:20Greg, are you saying that the police know every time Rick and me spoke on the phone?
00:37:24Excuse me.
00:37:26I was asked to deliver this to the lady, courtesy of Mr. Ian Miller.
00:37:36He owns half the mines in Nevada.
00:37:40May I?
00:37:42Anything you need.
00:37:53Cell phone records.
00:37:55All summer long, Rick and Sandy were calling each other 20, 30 times a day.
00:37:59There's also receipts for hotel stays in Beverly Hills.
00:38:02Signed, Sandy Tappas.
00:38:05and taped interviews with witnesses
00:38:08who heard them talking about killing Ted.
00:38:11And you showed all this to the police?
00:38:13Mm-hmm.
00:38:15Mm-hmm.
00:38:19I think I'm gonna have Mr. Sacco cut you a check today.
00:38:25Now that certain facts have come to light
00:38:28surrounding the death of Ted Binion,
00:38:30we no longer believe the cause of death to be undetermined.
00:38:33During autopsy, we discovered a liquid mixture
00:38:36of heroin and Xanax in Binion's stomach.
00:38:39As he was known to smoke and not ingest the drug,
00:38:42we now believe Ted Binion was murdered.
00:38:46As to figuring out the particular details of the homicide,
00:38:50I'll defer that to Lieutenant Austin.
00:38:52Excuse me, but how do you investigate a homicide
00:38:53five months after the fact?
00:38:55Wasn't the crime scene completely contaminated?
00:38:57This case will be particularly challenging, yes.
00:39:00Well, who's on your list of suspects?
00:39:01I'm afraid we're not at liberty to discuss that at this time.
00:39:06As if the world doesn't know the only names
00:39:08of Rick and Sandy on that list.
00:39:09We don't know their motives.
00:39:13I know this is an odd place to come,
00:39:15but it keeps all those holier-than-thou reporters
00:39:17who are following us around.
00:39:20Here, uh, who are you here?
00:39:22Sandy, this is Evan James.
00:39:24Hi, how are you?
00:39:25Good, thank you. Nice to meet you.
00:39:26Sure. Thank you very much for coming.
00:39:33So...
00:39:35So...
00:39:37So, the toxicology report just came in.
00:39:39It clearly states that Ted died of an overdose.
00:39:42They're saying that the cause of death is undetermined.
00:39:45And the cops, they're calling me and Sandy.
00:39:48They're trying to get us to talk,
00:39:49trying to get us to come in there
00:39:50and jump up some murder charges or something.
00:39:53I...
00:39:54You gotta be kidding me.
00:39:57Do you want a lap dance?
00:40:00Um...
00:40:03Well, I don't think you should.
00:40:05No, you thought that I meant me give you one.
00:40:11No, no, silly.
00:40:12I meant that Rick could buy you one.
00:40:14I'm sure that could be possible.
00:40:16I just...
00:40:17What I'd really like to know is why you called me down here.
00:40:21Well, we saw you in the news,
00:40:23and you seem like a fair guy.
00:40:25And if we're gonna give an interview,
00:40:26it needs to be fair.
00:40:28So you're saying you want an interview?
00:40:30Yeah.
00:40:31Exclusive?
00:40:32Yes.
00:40:33Go ahead, shoot.
00:40:34What do you wanna know?
00:40:39Um...
00:40:39Well, what about the silver for what?
00:40:40Oh, that is another mountain out of Moho right there.
00:40:42I'm the one who built the damn vault for Ted,
00:40:45and I'm the only one that had the combination beside him.
00:40:47I'm right, but why would you bury a vault
00:40:49in the middle of a vacant lot?
00:40:50That's junky logic for you right there.
00:40:52You get sucked into Ted Binion's world,
00:40:54and everything turns upside down.
00:40:57Okay, I got it!
00:40:58We pretend to bury the silver at my ranch,
00:41:03but in reality, we bury it off the main drag.
00:41:08That way, greedy bitchy bitch Becky
00:41:10can never find it.
00:41:12You see?
00:41:13Whose car's out front?
00:41:15Sweetie, honey, lookie, this is Tavish, uh, Rick.
00:41:20He's gonna be with us around for a while.
00:41:26Scored more dope again.
00:41:27He scored more dope again, didn't he?
00:41:31Hey, didn't I tell you, you love her?
00:42:02You still here?
00:42:04I hope you don't mind, but I made some eggs.
00:42:07I made some for you, too.
00:42:09I can't remember a man ever making me breakfast.
00:42:12Yeah?
00:42:15Well, I don't like you at all.
00:42:27You're welcome.
00:42:29I want you so much.
00:42:32Do you want me, baby?
00:42:35Huh?
00:42:39You used to want me all the time, remember?
00:42:43Every day.
00:42:44Yeah, I don't feel like I can look, do I?
00:42:46God, when are you gonna stop smoking that stuff?
00:42:49It's destroying you.
00:42:50You're some crazy piece of work.
00:42:53It's not funny.
00:42:57I just don't know.
00:42:59Fine.
00:43:00You're welcome.
00:43:13I just don't know.
00:43:19It's Rick.
00:43:25Teddy.
00:43:26Hey, Teddy.
00:43:38Hey, Daddy told me to come by and I showed him plans for the vault.
00:43:44Good for you.
00:44:07Hey.
00:44:13Tuesday already?
00:44:14Yeah.
00:44:15I got the plans right here for you.
00:44:19Oh, come on, don't.
00:44:20It's a freak.
00:44:21Whoa, my little fighter!
00:44:24All right.
00:44:25I would take a shower.
00:44:29I'll show you these plans later then?
00:44:31Yep.
00:44:40Don't you feel sorry for me?
00:44:43I'm not the pathetic one here, you are.
00:44:46You're married and you're lusting after your friend's woman.
00:44:49Yeah.
00:44:50I am.
00:44:53Get out.
00:44:55I can't.
00:44:56I can't.
00:45:09I can't.
00:45:12I can't.
00:45:14I can't.
00:45:20Now I'm not the good person.
00:45:20I can't.
00:45:21Not even.
00:45:21I can't.
00:45:21I can't.
00:45:21I can't.
00:45:22Are you?
00:45:26I'm not the good person.
00:45:26We can't.
00:45:36Oh, hold it there, fellas.
00:45:38Hold on.
00:45:39Hey, Ted.
00:45:42You want to put the first one in?
00:45:44I'm not about to take my eyes off the lowlifes on your payroll.
00:45:47There are, right?
00:45:49Look at that bar. Smell it.
00:45:52That's a cool metal smell of money.
00:45:55Make you all drunk.
00:45:56Make you all sick and horny.
00:46:01Lucky for you, Tabish.
00:46:03You're $40,000 richer just by helping me hide it.
00:46:09Now stack them up. Nice and neat.
00:46:12All right, guys. Let's go.
00:46:14Here. Put it all the way in the corner.
00:46:28Got a bar of silver in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
00:46:31Did not tell you not to disturb me today.
00:46:34Hmm?
00:47:03Oh!
00:47:03I can do that.
00:47:06No problem.
00:47:09Did you sleep with Mary Jo while you were home?
00:47:13I'm gonna leave her.
00:47:34I'm gonna leave her.
00:47:36Oh.
00:47:36Oh, no.
00:47:43Maybe.
00:47:44And you're gonna leave her.
00:47:46Why did you get that?
00:47:48I don't know. My kids like them.
00:47:52Yeah? Think they like me?
00:48:02What is this?
00:48:04Richard Tabish and Sandra Murphy, I have a warrant for your arrest for the murder of Ted Binion.
00:48:09Alright. Do your jobs. We won't take this personal.
00:48:16Ow. Watch it. This jacket's expensive.
00:48:20House arrest means you do not leave your place of residence except between the hours of 9 and 5.
00:48:26And then only for approved reasons such as doctor visits.
00:48:30Everything else, you have to get permission for.
00:48:32If you go down the street to borrow a cup of sugar from your neighbor, you better get permission first
00:48:36because we will know.
00:48:37You got it?
00:48:39You really found the right $8 an hour job for you, didn't you?
00:48:51Where's my panties?
00:48:53When I came in here, I had black lace panties. Did you take them?
00:48:56Can't say I thought of it. No.
00:48:59Well, look.
00:49:01There's no panties.
00:49:03Maybe you weren't wearing any.
00:49:05Maybe I wasn't wearing any. I was wearing this skirt.
00:49:08No skirts.
00:49:09Do you think I was wearing a skirt this short without any panties?
00:49:17Alright, fine.
00:49:20Keep them, pervert.
00:49:37Let me out on bail. Why couldn't you get Rick out?
00:49:40You don't have a criminal record. At least not yet. He does.
00:49:44I want to bury you, Rick. Do you hear me? Do you hear me?
00:49:47Huh?
00:49:51There's that.
00:49:58There he is. Your own personal bail bondsman.
00:50:02Shut up.
00:50:08You rescued me.
00:50:10Ah, my darling.
00:50:11Not to worry.
00:50:12I consider it a privilege to be taking care of a beauty such as yourself.
00:50:20I won't abandon Rick.
00:50:23Grant larceny?
00:50:24Like a false murder charge isn't enough?
00:50:26They're going after the silver thing?
00:50:28You can't be surprised about that.
00:50:31You told me that my cell phone records proved that I called the sheriff three times a day.
00:50:34Three times.
00:50:35He denies you told him anything about the silver.
00:50:38Well, what does he say we talked about?
00:50:39The weather?
00:50:43Well, what about Lou?
00:50:44Lou cannot deny that Ted told me to dig it up.
00:50:56Lou.
00:50:57Lou!
00:50:58Lou, I need her in a standing order.
00:51:00Becky's trying to kill me.
00:51:02Becky's trying to kill me.
00:51:03Becky's trying to kill me.
00:51:04Now, look.
00:51:05You can't really all the way out here to go through this paranoid crap again.
00:51:09Look.
00:51:10Look!
00:51:10Look!
00:51:11You see those bullet holes?
00:51:12She's trying to kill me.
00:51:13That was last year, baby, and you don't even know if Becky really hired those guys.
00:51:17The hell I don't! I know my sister.
00:51:19The second I'm gone, she's gonna...
00:51:22She's gonna snatch up my silver and say it was hers.
00:51:26Rick.
00:51:30If I wake up, Dad,
00:51:32the first thing you're gonna do is dig up my silver,
00:51:34cash it in, and put it into a truss for Sandy.
00:51:36No, Ted, not a good idea.
00:51:39I'll act you!
00:51:51Oh, Sandy.
00:51:57I don't feel so good.
00:52:03Sandy.
00:52:04Sandy, I'm...
00:52:06Whoa.
00:52:13He's losing it.
00:52:16Keeps talking like he's gonna die.
00:52:18He is.
00:52:21I mean, look at him.
00:52:24He's on his last legs.
00:52:30What's going on right here?
00:52:38I mean, look at him.
00:52:42He's going, right there.
00:52:43Hey!
00:52:45Come on!
00:52:45Hey!
00:52:45Hey!
00:52:46God!
00:52:48Well done!
00:52:50What um!
00:52:51Now I can do everything and do everything
00:52:52and do everything.
00:52:54You must take down his hands.
00:52:55Now I can do what they are,
00:52:55Oh, 62.
00:53:11Tavish probably made another request for bail, but it's not going to happen.
00:53:16That's the DA.
00:53:17Bail those socks.
00:53:22Shh, shh, shh.
00:53:24Very light-colored, you know, matte or something.
00:53:28It'll look good.
00:53:28Will you excuse us for a moment?
00:53:32I'll see you later.
00:53:33Yeah, I'll be outside.
00:53:36Did you tell them you were going to see your lawyer and you went clothes shopping instead?
00:53:42Yeah, so?
00:53:43Do you know what house arrest means?
00:53:46You can't lie to them about where you're going.
00:53:49Now this is a problem, too.
00:53:51Stop worrying about how you look at the mirror.
00:53:54Start thinking about how you appear to judge and jury.
00:54:08How are you, dear?
00:54:11I want my own lawyer.
00:54:13Greg's driving me crazy, acting like he's my father or something.
00:54:17And I already have a nice daddy.
00:54:23So do you like him?
00:54:24Your new lawyer?
00:54:25What's his name?
00:54:27David Daguerre.
00:54:29He's all right.
00:54:30But he already ganged up on me with Greg about my clothes.
00:54:34Why?
00:54:35I'm afraid, Miss Murphy, you have a bit of an image problem.
00:54:41Here.
00:54:43I've changed myself into whatever men want plenty of times.
00:54:47I can change myself into whatever these damn lawyers want.
00:54:56Do you think I should call the trial of the sentry?
00:54:58I'd say it's a good call.
00:55:00I'm here in front of the Clark Kent.
00:55:01Wait, wait, here she comes.
00:55:04Here she comes.
00:55:05Get her, Bruce.
00:55:05Got her?
00:55:06Got her.
00:55:07Got her.
00:55:07Got her.
00:55:08Got her.
00:55:08Got her.
00:55:09Got her.
00:55:10Sandy, if you were, Sandy.
00:55:12Talk to me, Sandy.
00:55:13Sandy.
00:55:13Yeah.
00:55:14Yeah.
00:55:41You don't even look like you.
00:55:43Well, according to some people, that's a good thing.
00:55:46Not to me.
00:55:51When Teddy started to get so bad, why don't we just run away?
00:55:55Oh, that's right.
00:55:57You couldn't bear to walk away from all that shiny silver.
00:56:01Baby, you know you wanted it, too.
00:56:04All rise.
00:56:08In the matter of the state of Nevada versus Richard Tavish and Sandra Murphy,
00:56:13court is now in session.
00:56:22Ladies and gentlemen, you are about to hear a tale of lust and greed.
00:56:28The evidence will prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Ted Binion was murdered.
00:56:33Murdered by someone he trusted and her new lover.
00:56:37Murdered by Sandy Murphy and Rick Tavish.
00:56:40Now, you will hear from witness after witness who will reconstruct for you
00:56:44the days leading up to the crime.
00:56:46From the manicurist who heard Sandy predict Ted's death by overdose.
00:56:51I signed this stupid agreement that says I don't get anything if I leave him.
00:56:55But if he dies, trust me, the way that he uses, he's going to OD.
00:57:00He'll be dead in three weeks.
00:57:04That's when Steve wins having his grand opening party for his new casino.
00:57:09Do you think it'll look bad if I go to something like that after my husband dies?
00:57:14To Rick's high school buddy, Frank Lipionic.
00:57:18A man Rick tried to hire to help him kill Ted.
00:57:21You want me to what now?
00:57:23I want you to help me out the casino guy.
00:57:26The guy I put all the silver on the ground for.
00:57:29He's the one with the hot girlfriend, huh?
00:57:31She's hot. Got her in my back pocket.
00:57:33The guy bites it.
00:57:35The girl's mine.
00:57:36The silver's mine.
00:57:37And you know me, Frank.
00:57:38I'd like to share with my friend.
00:57:40Yes.
00:57:41You will meet the physician who prescribed Ted 120 Xanax tablets.
00:57:46The drug dealer who sold him 12 balloons of black tar heroin.
00:57:51And you will find out exactly what was on Ted's mind the night before he died.
00:57:57And you will hear the chilling words spoken by Ted Binion himself on the very eve of his murder.
00:58:06The private dick I hired got pictures of Sandy at the gym, kissing on Tavish, Mr. Muscles with his shiny
00:58:17teeth.
00:58:19It's like you said, Lou.
00:58:22You bring a bitch home, the dogs are going to smell her when she's in heat.
00:58:28They're going to sit outside and howl and howl and howl until she lets them in.
00:58:33I want you to take the whore out of my will.
00:58:36But you just put Sandy in your will.
00:58:39And now I'm telling you to take her out.
00:58:42As if she doesn't kill me tonight.
00:58:48If I'm dead tomorrow, you know what happened.
00:58:54That's correct.
00:58:55Well, clearly a lot of excitement here at the courthouse today.
00:58:59The prosecution is expected to call Dr. Michael Baden, the nation's top forensic expert,
00:59:04who also testified at the O.J. Simpson trial.
00:59:06In a controversial move for the prosecution, Dr. Baden's testimony is actually expected to contradict that of the medical examiner.
00:59:14Go on, Dr. Baden.
00:59:17Well, I don't believe that the drug levels in Mr. Binion's system were high enough to cause death.
00:59:22At least not in an attic with a high tolerance.
00:59:25Then how may we ask, did he die?
00:59:27The autopsy photos show the redness of abrasions over his mouth, which to me is a sign of obstruction.
00:59:33Then there were broken blood vessels under his eyes, which indicate, you know, a struggle to breathe.
00:59:38Well, there were abrasions on his wrist, which suggests being bound, as well as red marks on his chest,
00:59:43which appear to be imprints of buttons, probably by someone who's kneeling on them.
00:59:49I believe he was likely forced to ingest drugs to help incapacitate him.
00:59:54And then he was laid on the floor and suffocated to death.
01:00:01Sandy.
01:00:04I saw their faces.
01:00:06The jury's eating it up.
01:00:08I want to go on the stand.
01:00:10I want to testify.
01:00:11I want to tell them what happened.
01:00:12No.
01:00:13That's asking for trouble.
01:00:15When it so happens, I agree.
01:00:17It's not worth the risk.
01:00:18Well, I don't care.
01:00:20I can't just sit there and not do anything when people are saying all this garbage.
01:00:25I don't know how hard it is just sitting there feeling helpless, but this is going to go over.
01:00:29It's all right.
01:00:31Everything is going to be okay.
01:00:34You promise?
01:00:36I promise.
01:00:47The defense wants you to believe Ted Binion killed himself.
01:00:51Well, coincidence of coincidences.
01:00:55He killed himself the day Sandy Murphy called the maid and told her not to come into work that day.
01:01:01He killed himself the day before someone emptied a safe out of his antique coin collection.
01:01:06The day before, Rick Tabish tried to make off with $7 million worth of Ted Binion silver.
01:01:11However, the defense also wants you to believe that Rick was at work the morning of September 17th.
01:01:20But consider this.
01:01:23After months of Rick and Sandy calling each other 20, 30 times a day, on that day, there was not
01:01:29a single call between them until late in the afternoon, mere minutes before Sandy reported finding Ted's body.
01:01:34Now, why is that?
01:01:36Why no communication most of the day?
01:01:39Because they were together in Ted Binion's home.
01:01:44Why was Sandy's car parked in the driveway where the gardener says she never parked instead of in the garage
01:01:49where she always parked because Rick's car was hidden in the garage?
01:01:53And inside, Rick and Sandy were tying Ted to a chair and forcing him to drink a deadly cocktail of
01:02:01heroin and Xanax.
01:02:02How do we know?
01:02:03The cocktail was still in his stomach.
01:02:06That was their plan.
01:02:07Make it look like an overdose.
01:02:09They've been planting that idea all over town.
01:02:11Trust me, the way he uses, he's going to OD.
01:02:14He'll be dead in three weeks.
01:02:16And when Ted didn't die fast enough, one of them covered his mouth and his nose with their hands while
01:02:22the other sat on his chest, and they suffocated him.
01:02:29Afterward, Rick and Sandy drove to lunch.
01:02:32We know they drove together because Sandy left her purse in Rick's car, didn't have her keys to get back
01:02:39in the house later.
01:02:41And why did they drive together?
01:02:46Because Rick was already there, he was in the house, he was there to help his lover kill her rich
01:02:53boyfriend so they could steal his silver, and that is what the evidence shows.
01:02:59Beyond a reasonable doubt.
01:03:07I heard your lawyer say that the longer they deliberate, the more likely it's an acquittal.
01:03:36How say you in the charge against the defendant, Richard Tabish, for felony larceny and the attempted theft of the
01:03:43silver?
01:03:43Guilty.
01:03:45I'll say you in the charge against the defendant, Richard Tabish, for murder in the first degree.
01:03:50Guilty.
01:03:52I'll say you in the charge against the defendant, Sandra Murphy, for felony larceny and the attempted theft of the
01:03:58silver?
01:03:59Guilty.
01:04:01I'll say you in the charge against the defendant, Sandra Murphy, for murder in the first degree.
01:04:07Guilty.
01:04:08Oh, hallelujah, hallelujah, ha, ha, ha, ha.
01:04:16You promised me that this wouldn't happen.
01:04:19Well, it's happening.
01:04:20Look, we can appeal.
01:04:22Shut up.
01:04:23Shut up!
01:04:25You lied to me!
01:04:27All right.
01:04:29Hey, thank you.
01:04:30No, no, no.
01:04:30It was justice, not luck.
01:04:32Becky.
01:04:33Yes, go ahead.
01:04:33What do you think Ted would say of the verdict?
01:04:36He would say that the bitch got what she deserved and that she was the meanest, most evil, most devious
01:04:42person that he ever met.
01:04:44Excuse me.
01:04:45Go ahead.
01:04:45What about the allegations that Ted Binion actually abused Ms. Murphy?
01:04:49The only abuse she ever got was hundred-dollar bills being thrown right at her.
01:04:54What?
01:04:56Cheers, y'all.
01:04:57Drinks on the house.
01:04:59It's a good day.
01:05:00It's a day of justice at the horseshoe.
01:05:05So, what does that mean, 20 years to life?
01:05:10It means eligibility for parole.
01:05:13It will come in about 12 years.
01:05:17Oh, my God.
01:05:32Sandy, Sandy, this fight isn't over.
01:05:37It was a sloppy trial.
01:05:38We have a half dozen grounds for appeal.
01:05:50Rick asked me to give you this letter.
01:06:06I'm standing here today in front of Southern Nevada Women's Correctional Police.
01:06:09Convicted murderer Sandy Murphy is being transferred today to begin serving her.
01:06:13I think that's her, Bruce.
01:06:14Go ahead and start rolling.
01:06:17You got it, Bruce?
01:06:18You got it.
01:06:18Just hold her tight right there.
01:06:21Miss Murphy, how does it feel to be walking in today, knowing you may never walk out?
01:06:24Miss Murphy.
01:06:25Miss Murphy.
01:06:26Just hold her tight there.
01:06:27Miss Murphy.
01:06:29Sandy, a few words.
01:06:31Sandy.
01:06:31Sandy.
01:06:33Sandy.
01:06:43I'm here in front of the prison, where after four years, Sandy Murphy is set to be released
01:06:48tomorrow, after the Nevada Supreme Court overturned her conviction for the 1998 murder of Ted Binion.
01:06:53In setting aside the conviction, the court cited the prosecution's two theories of death,
01:06:58forced overdose and suffocation, and said that each theory necessarily created a reasonable
01:07:03doubt about the other.
01:07:05Were you surprised by the Supreme Court's decision?
01:07:07Wasn't everybody.
01:07:09I don't know why they want to waste taxpayer money on a new trial.
01:07:13I mean, isn't it something like 90% of retrials end up with the same verdict?
01:07:19And what do you say to Murphy's legions of defenders who are saying you bought the case against her
01:07:24and Tavish?
01:07:24Well, I would say that my daddy always said never get in a pissing contest with a skunk.
01:07:33A skunk in this case would be legendary San Francisco attorney Tony Serra,
01:07:38who will join the defense team in the new trial.
01:07:40Mr. Serra, what strengths do you bring to the defense?
01:07:44I'm more than a lawyer.
01:07:46I'm a healer.
01:07:48I open cages.
01:07:51I give freedom, which is healing.
01:08:06It's good to see you.
01:08:07And you.
01:08:10It's in the past, Arnold.
01:08:11It's in the past.
01:08:22It's in the past.
01:08:25Hey.
01:08:28Oh.
01:08:36It's so good to see you.
01:08:38It's not like I was far away.
01:08:41I know.
01:08:43World's worst friend.
01:08:45That's me.
01:08:47Not like Ian.
01:08:48I can't believe he kept your apartment for you.
01:08:52Yeah, well, unlike you, he believed me.
01:08:55But I didn't do it.
01:09:07Sandy.
01:09:10I'm so sorry.
01:09:14It must have been terrible.
01:09:17You seem so different.
01:09:20I know.
01:09:23And I have no idea how to get myself back.
01:09:30And if they put me back in...
01:09:48Aren't you a sight for sore eyes?
01:09:55Here we go again.
01:09:59I told you sooner or later, things would turn our way.
01:10:01You call four years in prison our way?
01:10:06I know why you didn't write me back.
01:10:10I think it was smart to stay quiet and wait till things cooled off.
01:10:16No, I heard they tried to get you to turn against me.
01:10:19Be a witness for the state.
01:10:21I know you didn't do that.
01:10:23All right, boys and girls, it's showtime.
01:10:27You are about to hear a case that is so shaky,
01:10:31the Supreme Court could not let the conviction stand.
01:10:35You will find yourself dumbfounded as to why you were here
01:10:38when you were presented with conjecture rather than evidence
01:10:43and allegations rather than proof.
01:10:48I don't know how they got away with it the first time,
01:10:51but
01:10:53we're not letting them get away with it this time.
01:11:02Welcome back to Las Vegas, Mr. Lipionik.
01:11:04Howdy.
01:11:05Now, you testified four years ago
01:11:07that Rick Tabish asked you to help him kill Ted Binion.
01:11:13It would be a convenience if this man just killed him from something,
01:11:16but what are you going to do?
01:11:17Really?
01:11:18Yeah.
01:11:20I could parachute in the backyard
01:11:22and take him out like a sniper.
01:11:26I could just walk you right in there
01:11:28and just introduce you to me.
01:11:30Here's my buddy, Frank.
01:11:31Ted, just smile and shoot.
01:11:34I've done crazier things.
01:11:35Yes, you have.
01:11:37Hey, Ted.
01:11:38Nice to meet you.
01:11:39Yeah.
01:11:41Good to see you, buddy.
01:11:43Nice to see you, buddy.
01:11:44Are you suggesting that Mr. Tabish was merely joking?
01:11:48Yeah.
01:11:49A little hypothetical fun.
01:11:50That's not how you characterize what happened four years ago.
01:11:54That's because I was told
01:11:56that if I was going to get some of that reward money from the Binions,
01:11:59I'd have to play ball.
01:12:02Talk about a railroad operation.
01:12:04Your Honor,
01:12:04I moved to have Mr. Lipionik declared a hostile witness.
01:12:08So noted.
01:12:09Mr. Serra, you care to cross?
01:12:15I'm curious.
01:12:16Just how much of that reward money did you receive?
01:12:20$20,000.
01:12:24No more questions.
01:12:28And how much of this so-called reward money did you get?
01:12:33$20,000.
01:12:37I received the check for $10,000.
01:13:01I received the check for $10,000.
01:13:04So, in your opinion, Mr. Drummond,
01:13:06this was not an unusual overdose.
01:13:09Actually, Mr. Binion's death was very much a typical overdose.
01:13:13You see, 99.9% of all heroin overdoses
01:13:16involve the use of some other drug,
01:13:18usually Xanax.
01:13:20Users take it because
01:13:21it magnifies the euphoric effects of the heroin.
01:13:26No more questions.
01:13:49What?
01:13:50You're not going to threaten to scratch my eyes out,
01:13:52or run me over with your car,
01:13:54or any of those other classy things
01:13:56you used to love to say to me?
01:13:58You know, Becky,
01:13:59I used to think that you knew as well as I did
01:14:01that Teddy OD'd.
01:14:04I thought you were using it as the excuse to set me up,
01:14:07get me out of the way.
01:14:09But now I realize you were just in denial
01:14:11like every other person who loves a drug addict.
01:14:13Please.
01:14:15Don't even bother.
01:14:17You with your purse full of Teddy silver coins
01:14:20and your boyfriend digging up all the rest.
01:14:22Least I can say I earned it by taking care of Ted.
01:14:25You earned it?
01:14:26My brother plucked you naked off the stage
01:14:29and gave you everything.
01:14:30You took care of me.
01:14:31You know, you lived high on the hog for three years
01:14:33and my brother ended up dead.
01:14:34And now you have the nerve to say to me
01:14:36that you deserve more?
01:14:37I could reach all over your shoes!
01:14:41I have better things to do with my life
01:14:43and fight with you forever.
01:14:47I said it in the beginning
01:14:49and I will say it again.
01:14:51There was no murder.
01:14:56He died the way countless heroin addicts die
01:15:00of an accidental overdose.
01:15:03Nine medical experts testified to that.
01:15:07And the prosecution witnesses paid.
01:15:11Paid by a wealthy family
01:15:12who didn't want Ted's girlfriend
01:15:14to get the inheritance Ted promised her.
01:15:16So, why are we here?
01:15:21Oh, because casino royalty was offended.
01:15:27And in Las Vegas, what casinos want, casinos get.
01:15:32They even get to create a murder out of thin air.
01:15:37Are we really going to let them get away with that again?
01:15:45Hail, Caesar!
01:15:47Oh, come on!
01:15:50There will be order in this court.
01:15:57Sandy?
01:16:00Sandy?
01:16:00Sandy?
01:16:02What are you doing in here?
01:16:03You didn't say goodbye after court yesterday.
01:16:06So you noticed.
01:16:09I'm still in love with you.
01:16:11I've been in love with you
01:16:12ever since I first laid eyes on you.
01:16:14Shut up.
01:16:15Look at me.
01:16:16Sandy, I know we've been through hell together,
01:16:18but when we get through this,
01:16:20I want us to find our way back to each other.
01:16:22You're crazy.
01:16:23No.
01:16:24You're all I've thought about.
01:16:26You're the thing that kept me going.
01:16:27Four years, Sandy.
01:16:30Look, if we don't end up together,
01:16:33then all this misery has been for nothing.
01:16:35I will never be with you again.
01:16:38Never.
01:16:39Are you hearing me, Rick?
01:16:41There was only one man that I loved,
01:16:43and it wasn't you.
01:16:53It's Sarah, dude.
01:16:55He's got me believing she didn't do it.
01:16:57The whole thing was straight up fabricated.
01:16:59Then you're an idiot,
01:16:59because there's no other way to explain
01:17:01how she was in the house at the time Ted died.
01:17:03What do you mean?
01:17:04She explained everything to the cops on the first day.
01:17:07How Ted bought himself all those balloons at Big H?
01:17:09Ted, don't.
01:17:10He's going to town on them.
01:17:11No more.
01:17:12You've been at it all night.
01:17:15Oh, God.
01:17:16Come on, baby, now.
01:17:18Come on, put that down.
01:17:24Come on.
01:17:26Come on.
01:17:29Come on, baby.
01:17:29We'll just get you to bed, okay?
01:17:32No, I'm thinking that she helped him lie down.
01:17:35Teddy, stop it.
01:17:38Come on.
01:17:43Come on, baby.
01:17:48Come on.
01:17:48She called the maid, told her not to come in
01:17:50and wake old Teddy up.
01:17:54She babysat him while he slept.
01:18:00And she went out to get herself some lunch.
01:18:01No idea he was going to croak.
01:18:03Well, then how do you explain all the Xanax in his system?
01:18:05Or the fact that Rick
01:18:08told the cops when he was arrested for doing the silver
01:18:10that he was in the house that day Ted died.
01:18:12All right, no.
01:18:13Rick and Sandy were there.
01:18:15They forced that Xanax down his throat.
01:18:16Well, guess what happened?
01:18:18I think Ted probably confronted her about Rick.
01:18:21You two-bit whore.
01:18:26You want to call me names?
01:18:28Fine.
01:18:29Put that down.
01:18:30I'll get you to bed.
01:18:31You can call me all the names you want.
01:18:35I wouldn't touch you.
01:18:37I have to tell her she's put his hand all over you.
01:18:43Look at you.
01:18:44Look at you.
01:18:45You can't even pretend it's not true.
01:18:48She called Rick, told him.
01:18:50Teddy knows.
01:18:53I don't know.
01:18:55I don't know, but he's so messed up.
01:18:57I don't know what he's going to do.
01:19:00Okay, hurry.
01:19:10I don't know.
01:19:38How long has he been in there?
01:19:42He's gone.
01:20:03Teddy.
01:20:05Teddy.
01:20:06You're not worth the bloodstain on the carpet.
01:20:10Hey.
01:20:12Hey.
01:20:13Teddy.
01:20:13Look.
01:20:14Look who it is.
01:20:16The betrayer.
01:20:17You bring your truck?
01:20:18Teddy.
01:20:19Put the gun down.
01:20:19I'm throwing this bitch out.
01:20:21You can keep her.
01:20:22Let's just talk about this.
01:20:23I don't want to talk about it!
01:20:24You're going to talk about this, man.
01:20:25Sit down!
01:20:26You're making me nervous standing there like that.
01:20:30Sit down.
01:20:31You're freaking me out.
01:20:32Stand in there like that.
01:20:33All right.
01:20:34All right.
01:20:35All right.
01:20:36Come on, Teddy.
01:20:45Ain't this nice?
01:20:48Every little family.
01:20:51Slut.
01:20:58Liar.
01:20:59Hmm?
01:21:01Pills with your names on them.
01:21:03I'm calling the paramedics.
01:21:05Why?
01:21:05Huh?
01:21:07So I can get arrested for possession?
01:21:11That I will shoot you for.
01:21:14Sit down.
01:21:15Come on.
01:21:34Freaking whore.
01:21:39Slut.
01:21:42You.
01:21:43you. I thought you was my friend. I am your friend. You're not my friend. How can you
01:22:03seriously think that Sandy was going to make the call and Ted stopped her? Oh no. If anything,
01:22:07it was the other way around. I took too much, Sandy. I took too much. Please, call an ambulance.
01:22:24Call. Call the ambulance. Ambulance. What? What? It's possible. No, I don't think that Sandy wanted to
01:22:36watch him die. I think Rick talked her into it. What are you doing? He took the whole bottle.
01:22:46We have to get him to a hospital. No, we don't. Think about it. This could be a good thing.
01:22:57You heard him. He said when he wakes up, he's going to kick you out and you're going to have
01:23:01nothing.
01:23:03What if he doesn't wake up?
01:23:10No. Rick, I can't. If he dies this time, this house is yours. And the silver, no one knows about
01:23:23it.
01:23:25That could be honest.
01:23:44We are called a maid that are not to come.
01:23:52No, you can't pin this all on Tavish. That's why she won't look at Rick anymore. Because he talked her
01:23:56into
01:23:57watching Ted die. He promised her nothing bad would happen. She believed him.
01:24:23How say you on the charge against the defendant, Sandra Murphy, of grand larceny for the felony theft of the
01:24:29silver?
01:24:31Guilty.
01:24:33Guilty.
01:24:33How say you on the charge against the defendant, Sandra Murphy, of grand larceny for the felony theft of the
01:24:51silver?
01:24:51Guilty.
01:24:53Guilty.
01:24:54And how say you on the charge against the defendant, Richard Tavish, for murder in the first degree?
01:25:00Guilty.
01:25:01Not guilty.
01:25:02Defendants are free to go sending sentencing for the date to be determined by the court. This court is adjourned.
01:25:11No more comments.
01:25:16But if I did have a comment, it would be about the damn irony of them saying that I bought
01:25:23the verdict.
01:25:23And they're the ones who spent a truckload on lawyers. Lawyers who kept out key evidence, by the way.
01:25:32Where do you think all that money came from from their case? From my murdered brother's safe. That's worth it.
01:25:47We just want to say that our convictions haven't changed. We know they're guilty. But we have to respect our
01:25:57judicial system, recognize our system, honor it. And it is not up to me to decide their guilt.
01:26:09I just hope that I get the opportunity to be there for my children before they're grown. Be there with
01:26:18my parents before they're gone.
01:26:20Will I have to go back and do time for the silver charge?
01:26:24With the four years you've already done, and your clean record, the judge will have to pronounce you three on
01:26:29time served.
01:26:32Rick won't be so lucky. He'll go back for a couple more years.
01:26:37Thank you for everything.
01:26:40Thank you. Goodbye.
01:26:43Bye.
01:26:44Take care.
01:26:50Just a couple.
01:26:54All I have to say is that even though I was vindicated today, I didn't win.
01:26:59I still lost four years of my life. And I still lost my man. And I can never get him
01:27:05back.
01:27:08Rick, what about Sandy?
01:27:12I hope she finds happiness in her life. She deserves it.
01:27:25I told you we'd win.
01:27:27I told you we'd win.
01:27:46The jury says no.
01:27:48What do you say?
01:28:18I won't get a job.
01:28:19I just got married. You're a kid.
