MORGAN GIBBS-WHITE and Robert Sanchez were both covered in blood after a sickening collision, not long after a separate gruesome clash put Jesse Derry in the hospital.

The coming together between Nottingham Forest star Gibbs-White and Chelsea goalkeeper Sanchez forced a second worrying stoppage in the Tricky Trees’ 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge.

A long ball over the top saw Sanchez sprint out to punch the ball away from danger as Gibbs-White tried to beat him to it.

But they ended up making brutal head-on-head contact and tumbling to the turf.

Sanchez got to the ball first but caught Gibbs-White as he followed through, prompting another lengthy delay.

Other players bellowed for assistance, a nd medical teams were on in a flash as both stars were bandaged up.

Sanchez was the first to rise to his feet with blood spattered on his face as he headed for the tunnel.

Filip Jorgensen came on to replace the Spaniard in goal as Gibbs-White was subbed for Chris Wood, with both wounded players walking off under their own steam.

Gibbs-White’s injury will be a crushing blow for Forest manager Vitor Pereira, who rested the playmaker to keep him fresh for Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Aston Villa.

He only came on at half-time but was patched up and on his way back to the dressing room 20 minutes later.

Incredibly, that was the second graphic clash of heads in the same match.

Just before half-time, 18-year-old Derry was given oxygen on the pitch and stretchered off before being taken to the hospital.

The teenage son of former Crystal Palace midfielder Shaun Derry – on his first Premier League start – went down after colliding with Forest’s Zach Abbott.

Dad Shaun watched nervously from the sidelines as Jesse was seen to by medics during a long break in play.

Chelsea later tweeted out an update on the teenager’s condition.

It read: “Jesse Derry has been taken to hospital as a precaution following his first-half substitution during today’s #PL game against Nottingham Forest.

“Jesse is conscious, talking, and undergoing precautionary checks. We wish him a speedy recovery and thank the medical staff for their swift response.“

Forest’s victory came courtesy of a Taiwo Awoniyi brace and an Igor Jesus penalty, with Joao Pedro notching a late consolation for the hosts.

Manager Calum McFarlane gave an update on both stars following their respective scary incidents.
