00:00President Trump seems to have found his next late-night comedy target, comedian Bill Maher.
00:04Maher welcomed California Governor Gavin Newsom to a show real-time on Friday night,
00:08and the commander-in-chief slammed the host for not being tougher when questioning him.
00:12In a lengthy social media post over the weekend, the president said in part,
00:17quote, last night I happened to watch Gavin Newsom, an admittedly low IQ person who said
00:23he can't read a speech, is dumb and essentially incompetent, and he took Bill Maher over the
00:28Kohl's. Like the president or not, you have to admit, the man has a way with insults.
00:32He went on to say that Newsom was allowed to discuss how great his state is doing,
00:36and Maher, according to the president, quote, was defenseless and totally deficient. Either
00:41he didn't have the knowledge or he choked. Maher, who made his name as a liberal comedian,
00:45has previously voiced some skepticism over how California has been managed.
00:49During the interview that caught Trump's attention, Maher did pepper Newsom with questions over gas
00:53prices and high rents, but as you heard, the president was looking for more. Trump also
00:58said, referring to a meeting he had with Maher last year, quote, Bill Maher is a weak and
01:02ineffective person. He was nervous, scared, and the first words he uttered as he entered
01:07the Oval Office were, can I have a drink? It was very endearing, but at the same time,
01:11absolutely pathetic. In response to the blistering truth social post, Newsom's sassy social media
01:17account boasted that his interview with Maher caused a presidential, and I quote, meltdown.
