The United Democratic Front is set to form the next government in Kerala, securing a massive victory by leading in over a hundred seats.

00:00I quickly want to cut across now to Kerala, where the Congress or the UDF all said to form the
00:07next government, the UDF leading in 100, LDF reduced to 35, the BJP we are told in Leeds there it
00:15shows two, but I'm just being told that this is the NDA's best performance in leading or winning in three
00:23seats in Kerala.
00:24Kerala BJP President Rajiv Chandrasekhar, he has won his seat from Nimom and former MOS Ministry of External Affairs V.
00:35Murali Dharan, he is also won from Kadakuttam and B.B. Gopakumar, he has also won his seat and I
00:45want to quickly cut across to Shivimol for more on this.
00:48Shivimol, as far as the Congress is concerned, they were very confident that they are returning to power this time
00:57after the debacle, next time when those five-year change wasn't followed.
01:01But as far as the BJP is concerned, bring us there what they had thought and how they have performed.
01:12Oh, well, it's a huge, huge victory for the BJP also because just like Congress, because they've managed to win
01:18three seats.
01:19This is their best performance in the state. They won one seat in 2016. They lost it in 2021.
01:24They're back with not one or two, but three seats. They won Neymom, Kadakuttam, where we expected a very tight
01:30contest.
01:30Another seat is Chatanur in Kollam. There, in the last two terms, BJP has been finishing second and they were
01:36expecting that seat.
01:37But the focus is more on Neymom and Kadakuttam and what you would cover, these constituencies in Tiruvannathapuram and also
01:44a few seats in, one seat in Palakad and one in Kasargo.
01:47These were the main seats that the BJP was focusing and just like that they expected.
01:50Out of the five seats they focused and worked on, they managed to win three seats.
01:54So, big, big victory for BJP after the Lok Sabha, one seat win. After the Tiruvannathapuram Corporation, now they're broken
02:00into the Kerala Legislative Assembly also with three members.
02:03So, very, very strong performance from BJP. They've maintained that momentum.
02:08The UDF, this is bigger than what they've expected. They expected close to 85 to 90 seats, but they've crossed
02:14100 seats.
02:15Now, one of the main reasons is the LDF has lost in their bastions where they have never lost.
02:20There are certain constituencies in Kannur where they have never lost.
02:22These are constituencies, but it was only won by CPM.
02:25They've lost that seat and the UDF managed to win that seat by fielding CPM rebels.
02:30So, we spoke to KC Vedugobal who said that he never expected CPM to lose certain seats in Kannur, which
02:36is their stronghold.
02:36So, that's the anger not just by the people, but also by the party workers there on ground saying to
02:42the party leadership that it's the party above any individual.
