00:01Cross-border taxi services between Malaysia and Singapore have been enhanced, allowing travelers
00:08to enjoy more flexible drop-off locations without changing taxis after crossing the causeway.
00:14The new arrangement has been welcomed by many passengers, especially those traveling with
00:20heavy luggage. Tourist Amanda Jin from Liaoning, China, said the policy made her journey much
00:26easier as she and her friend were able to travel directly from Larkin Central to their hotel
00:31in Orchard Road for RM240. Under the enhanced policy announced by the Transport Ministry and
00:38Singapore authorities, cross-border taxis can now pick up and drop off passengers at more
00:43flexible locations. However, not all travelers are happy with the revised fare structure.
00:50Passenger Go Mi Yong said she was shocked that the fare for a four-seater taxi from Larkin
00:55central to Singapore had doubled to RM240, but added that she had little choice due to
01:02her injured wrist and difficulty carrying luggage on buses. Meanwhile, drivers say the fare increase
01:09is justified due to rising maintenance costs and long hours spent in causeway traffic.
01:15Cross-border taxi driver Jamain Rahman said the fare revision was long overdue and added that
01:21the flexible drop-off arrangement benefits both passengers and drivers. Another driver, P Mohan,
01:28said although taxis are now allowed to pick up passengers from locations such as Mid Valley South
01:34Quay, Toppen Shopping Centre and Angsana Johor Bahru Mall, many drivers are taking a wait-and-see approach.
01:41Under the revised fare structure, trips from Larkin Central are capped at RM240 for standard
01:49four-seater taxis, RM360 for six-seater taxis and RM540 for premium six-seater vehicles.
01:58From May 4, licensed taxis will be permitted to drop-off passengers anywhere in Singapore and in
02:04several areas in Johor, including Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Forest City, Kulai and Senai.
02:21All right.
